We were so happy to see that the decor of Cracker Barrel remains the same - bringing an nostalgic ambience of country living of an era of days gone by. Even though they were pretty busy at two in the afternoon we were seated promptly. We had a nice table by a window. Everything looked nice and clean at our table. Our waiter Chris came right away to get our beverage order. We always order their unsweetened iced tea with lemon. Very, good flavor, very fresh. You can order breakfast all day if that's your choice. Their menu choices are plentiful and varied. They did have a couple of new dishes for the holidays which looked enticing. I chose Cracker Barrel's Country Fried Steak with three sides. The steak was flavorful and tender. The portion size was ample. Fried to perfection and had plenty of their signature white Sawmill gravy. So delicious - a great treat. My sides were their Country Style Green Beans, Grits and Coleslaw. I don't know how they make their green beans but they taste great. I think they cook them with some bacon flavoring. Grits were fantastic as usual. I add extra butter to make them a creamy perfection. Their Coleslaw was my only slight disappointment - they lacked some seasoning for my taste buds. All in all another wonderful dining experience at a restaurant that embodies the welcoming country lifestyle. Ordered to go it was promised at a certain time and we get there and check in someone came out and told us they apologized, but our food is still being taken care of on the grill. We had to wait another 25 minutes in the parking lot. the food was hot for the dinner meals, but the breakfast meal was very cold. the bacon sausage and ham were awful. They tasted like very old almost bad meat. I don't know if it's been sitting in a grease all day It definitely didn't taste like you want your bacon to taste. I could not eat any of it Everything the turkey meal had No gravy whatsoever and everything was very dry as well as the cornbread that came with it very hard to eat. The cranberries that came with it come in a little tiny black cup that they put your condiments in like syrup and ketchup ., paid $2.50 extra for loaded tater tots to get a spoonful. Been here several times , but this time was not to great , husbands food was not even edible was very over cooked dry and tasteless, he ordered the fried chicken w fries ! Im shocked that they would even let a dish go out of kitchen like that ! When we told the waitress she agreed ! If I was a waitress I would have Never even brought it to the table , well they did correct the issue with a fresh dish of chicken and felt bad , and they gave my hubby a free piece of chocolate cake and scoop of ice cream for his birthday, (which is why we were there in the first place ) ! Cracker Barrel has some very happy employees who greet you with sincere smiles and a down home, welcome to our house, style. Our server was very cheerful and delivered our food in about five minutes. The food was hot and delicious! Cracker Barrel is always clean, dishes are clean too. On every wall, the decorations are antiques of a life lived long ago. The interior is beautiful, especially when parents or grandparents explain what the antiques represent. The children are mesmerized! Cracker Barrel does a great job hiring caring staff, good cooks too! Their store has some very gorgeous clothes, toys, trinkets and collectibles. Many Cracker Barrel restaurants are disappointing nowadays but not so this one in Spring Hill, Fl . We met our granddaughters there tonight as we've been doing since they were little , it's 'our place' . Everything was perfect ! Food was served hot and in a very timely manner. Truthfully we've never had a bad experience at this location. But this review is really more about our server , Carly . She was amazing ! Let me set the scene a little , fellow grandparents may understand this scenario. Grandpa & I arrived and were promptly seated. Carly warmly greeted us and we explained our grandchildren would be forthcoming . No problem she said and went ahead and brought us our menus & drinks. Ten minutes turned into 20 and still no sign of aforementioned grandchildren. Carly checked in on us several times as she continued to take care of her other guests. We tried to call first granddaughter & when there was no answer we tried second granddaughters phone which went directly to voicemail ... then grandpa became alarmed and decided it was time to go check the parking lot. He didn't return and didn't respond when I called him and I was probably 2 minutes away from panicking. Carly was vested at this point and I was grateful for her concern. We were in this together! After a time the 3 amigos FINALLY rounded the corner with Grandpa in tow. " We thought you were picking us up" they shyly explained. HaHa Then this ' bunch of nuts ' that we are placed the most upside down orders imaginable but our new friend Carly didn't flinch . She figured a cost effective way to make it all work and brought us out fresh piping hot bread service whilst we waited on our dinners. Service has gone down hill. Food has gone down hill. Portion sizes have gone down hill. Prices have gone up hill. The to top it off, cold and dried up food. This is not a one-off having a bad day, this location has an underlying problem that is not getting taken care of. For background I will point out that my wife and I eat there once a week for convenience after work, its close, it was cheap and it was fast and saved one of use cooking every day of the week. We go mid week and early evening, the restaurant is never busy and always less than half full. However we have noticed a downward trend in service speed and food quality over the last couple of months culminating in the last 3 visits being absolutely abysmal. The time from seating to eating has been getting steadily longer for a couple of months now, but the last three visits we had to wait in excess of 45 minutes from taking our order to any food being delivered. Each time the wait staff were hopping between all the tables apologizing for the delays. Then when the food is brought out it is barely warm or even completely cold and looking dried up. The wait staff is blaming the kitchen staff and the manager is bouncing from table to table blaming shift changes and acting like they are shocked that someone has a problem. If had I wanted cold leftovers I would have stayed at home and done a better job of reheating it. Recommend trying the NPR or Brooksville location until this one gets either new management or new kitchen staff... or both. read more

What a mess this place is. How does a Cracker Barrel run out of corn bread? No fried bone chicken as the fryer has been broken for weeks. Service was good and I felt for her. Manager stopped by and apologized. Had the skillet and it was soupy. Portion sizes have shrunk to include the glass sizes. Poor waitresses were running around to fill glasses. Why would they shrink the sizes of the beverage glasses - just plain stupid as now the wait team has to run around to fill glasses twice as often. Fried chicken breasts were small and greasy. We used to love Cracker Barrel but after this experience we will never go back. Lots of better options and this place was by far the worst we've experienced in a long time. You can see the frustration in the team that works there. Chatting with a few customers on the way out they all agree this place is on a steep decline. We have changed from location on US 19 in NPR, FL to this location on Commercial Way in Springhill, FL. Springhill location was much more friendlier, conscientious of & in meeting customer's needs. This location is a "go to" for those who enjoy Cracker Barrel's foods, shop, & overall ambience, especially the fireplace on cold mornings. A real plus for us. read more

I was craving a great fried fish, fries, coleslaw, and hush puppy dinner and I had earned enough pegs (rewards) for a meal so I wen to the Cracker Barrel in Spring Hill, FL. I hadn't been here in a while. It didn't disappoint! The server was excellent, and the meal was great! It was large enough that I got two big meals out of it and could easily have gotten three smaller meals from it so it was quite a bargain. The dining room is typical Cracker Barrel with lots to look at if you take the time to do so. Overall, this was the best fish dinner I've had in quite a while and the whole experience was great! read more

We needed comfort food, and went to a reliable restaurant. All employees were wearing masks, and were all extremely friendly. Since hubby was craving fried chicken, he ordered it because it's not just a special anymore - it's a regular item on the menu. I had the meat loaf with gravy on the side - I wanted to control the portions, and fresh broccoli and mashed potatoes. My husband at the end of his meal did, however, comment that his chicken the previous visit several months ago was better than the current visit. To all who care, because Cracker Barrel does not! The food is fine even though the sodium levels and calories are through the roof. The staff act as though they are being held against their will. The big problem is corporate! The gift cards are a joke. My mother sends me gifts cards for every holiday ordered straight from Cracker Barrel. Last year I took them to the restaurant and all 3 of my cards were declined saying there was no balance on them. (never used). Last week I went again, and all 3 cards were declined saying they were never activated and was accused of stealing them. (Strait from Cracker Barrel). I hope I am the only one with this problem because it is really degrading when you are in line with several people behind you and all of your cards are declined. My whole family has had this same problem and are officially done with Cracker Barrel. It's not just the hundreds of dollars spent on the gift cards; it's the embarrassment of standing in line with people waiting behind you while your cards are being declined. read more

We visited Cracker Barrel on Commercial Way in Spring Hill tonight, Friday 4-19-2019 at 5:45. We got seated in a few minutes, with only a short wait. Iced tea (unsweetened) is fresh and good. Our family ordered three entree's- fish n chips; fried shrimp; and a breakfast platter. Food arrived promptly. Food was delicious and prepared well. Service was attentive and very nice. The server visited back several times to check that we had everything. She was polite and nice. We eat at this Cracker Barrel location every few weeks and enjoy it. We ordered the "heat and eat" thanksgiving meal. I'm disabled and not able to do much so I thought this would be perfect. The food was OK, not great, not terrible. HOWEVER WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU IS THAT THERE'S A LOT TO DO. I started the "heating process" early. What I thought was early anyway. Took 3 hours to "heat" everything. Too much work for a meal that I was under the impression just needed heated. Won't do this again and I'm so disappointed. If you can and don't mind cooking, go for it. Just not for me. Ordered the Southern Fried 4 pc chicken dinner thru Uber eats last Sunday, 8/6/2023. the chicken was so over cooked and I ended up with a pile of overdone crust and the meat inside the crust was nonexistent. the entire thigh had a dried up pc of meat about the size of a small grape, the leg snaped in half also having no recognizable meat, the wing was also non existent and the breast was a large chunk of breading. Worst fried chicken that I have ever attempted to eat. The only positive note was the fried apples and the fried okra were delicious. I never have been a fan of this restaurant for anything other than their breakfast and this experience sealed the deal for me to not try anything else again. First it took the waitress a long time to come get our order. Then when we got our food it was nothing of what we ordered. I ended up just getting nothing because I did not want them to bring me the right stuff after they messed up. Manager never came over to ask us if everything was ok. Been coming here for 5 years for thanksgiving but this will definitely be the last. Never had a problem switching mashed potatoes for sweet potato casserole but did this year. Manager refused. Trust me your sweet potato casserole with orange zest is not for everyone.Had to get the breaded fried turkey to get a teaspoon of mashed potatoes and a teaspoon of green beans. I called in a Togo order just of 2 simple bowls of soup. The young girl at the front desk was very pleasant and considerate. While I was waiting for just 2 bowls of soup called in and I was told it would only be 5 mins and I drove right up The young girl called back and told the back I was there for 2 bowls of soup. She called them 3-4 time and in the meantime 5 other orders were picked up and I just stood there. The young girl said she would go back and see where my order was, but when she said this, a severely overweight woman in a sleeveless shirt balled the girl out and said don't go in back and help him, he can just wait. After the fat woman said thus her and the young girl went in front away from the registers and balled the young girl out for wanting to help me. After hearing that rude SOB, then I got mad that she could be so rude and -0- customer service. The young girl was very nice The overweight woman was rude, condescending, and gave Cracker Barrel a really bad name. After 49 minutes, my soup finally came and one was warm the other was cold. That rude women should be fired for how rude she was, and if my wife would have been there, I would have contacted an attorney for the abuse I took from that fat woman I will tell everyone I know about this negative experience and rudeness of that woman for 2 bowls of soup! read more

We just ordered from door dash. the food was,not acceptable at all. There wasn't any food hardly in one dinner, the salad was wilted and steak over cooked, we ordered a coke cake and got an apple pie. The normal seasoning wasn't on any of it and it was bland. When we called to complain they said they are not responsible for the food when we do door dash. When asked even if they messed up and not door dash and they said exactly. We order door dash for a bunch of restaurants and have never had any of them say oh we don't care. We definitely won't be ordering from them again that was 75.00 wasted. Since we couldn't eat most of it and had to order somewhere else. You know it's bad when the poor dog won't eat a steak. My husband and I ordered chicken pot pies for pickup. When I arrived home they were still hot, however when we opened them we found that the pies had fallen, were very brown, and the chicken and vegetables were over cooked, kind of doughy, and the overall taste was too salty. We enjoy stopping here, especially when we have our parents in tow. Everyone can find something on the menu that they like whether that is breakfast or lunch. Food is consistently good, nothing stands out as being fabulous but no reason to leave hungry. Today we are here for breakfast and I'm giving their oatmeal a try. It's packed full of apple's, cranberries and nuts. Not your traditional oatmeal but feels healthy unlike the pancakes my husband is devouring in front of me. Those are always on par and he orders them over and over. When we finish eating, I like meandering through the shopping area where I always find multiple items that I like but don't need. Went for breakfast yesterday and arrived at 7 am on the dot. Seated quickly and waited 35 minutes for our meals. What was the delay we haven't a clue, since we were the only ones there. The pancakes were horrible. Tasted like oil. We're undercooked, and just truly awful. The bacon was fine as were the eggs. Why it took 35 minutes to get two meals is beyond me. The server, Melodie, was very nice, although absent after taking the order, so we couldn't inquire as to what was taking so long. We wont be back. Truly a shame, since the menu has changed so much in the past few years. We are disappointed to see Cracker Barrel lose its way. Maybe IHOP would have been a better choice or if there was a Bob Evans in the area.... Today we went for an afternoon dinner and I wasn't completely satisfied. I ordered the roast beef with 3 sides and my boyfriend ordered catfish with 3 sides. The roast beef was one slice and all fat, the potatoes were lumpy and the broccoli was overcooked. I usually don't complain but today was subpar. The catfish was good but they put watery green beans on the plate, which leaked into the fried catfish. Why? So today was not so satisfying. next time I won't order the roast beef for sure. read more

Our server blatantly ignored the table for refills walking by numerous times to other tables with out even taking a glance. We had to repeatedly ask for things such as refills, a glass of ice, or jelly/apple butter for the biscuits.
