Gnocchi- with Short Rib, Pine Nuts & Raisins on Restaurant Week
    Ben L.

I don't have very much success with Restaurant Week but Craft was a hit. The menu was simple yet so smart, I also appreciate how many choices there were for Restaurant Week. There were 8 apps, 7 mains with an additional 2 supplement items which were a skirt steak for an additional $10 and a braised short rib for an additional $30. The cost of the Restaurant Week menu was $60 for an app, entree and dessert. I was very happy with my selections. I went with fellow Yelper Gordon Y and we both were very happy with our dining experience. The menu: Gnocchi- with Short Rib, Pine Nuts & Raisins. I thought this dish was nice and hearty and perfect for Winter. The short ribs were nice and tender, kinda had a ropa veia feel to it. The raisins sounded strange and I normally don't like sweet and savory but the raisins were so nice and plump and fat that they worked with the dish. The Gnocchi were tiny pillows. They were so light and airy, but for me I do wish the Gnocchi had a bit of a bite or texture. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=p7lcfPmc7O4mA0XKdKbwHg Braised Lamb Shoulder- with Potato Puree & Braised Carrots. Fuck me, this dish was as close to perfect as I could find. This dish was one of the most memorable dishes I had in recent memory. The lamb was perfect, the sauce was perfect, my god was this dish perfect. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=vPjBkIvwCRC1tIhSaueM8g Chocolate Blackout Cake with Fior di Latte & Brûléed Bananas. I thought this was a nice finish, it was a bit dense since it is a blackout cake but it was a nice finish with good flavor. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=d5qPr8HoGLBDnn77-m_MJQ

Came for Restaurant weeks and was absolutely delighted. the food was exceptional, the menu interesting and the wine special were fantastic. It was our first time at Craft and we were so very pleased. The service was exceptional and the restaurant design makes for an environment where we could hear each other. Had a bottle of Vacqueryas that was exceptional and enjoyed every drop. Well done, Craft. We will be back soon!

Came for a work dinner. It's a beautiful space thats good for quiet convos and also larger tables of 6. Service is a bit disjointed. We ordered 2 bottles of wine and they spent 20 or so minutes trying to find both of them before telling us they didn't have it (we ordered 2 others instead). We already put in our food orders by then and really wished they told us sooner because the food came out before the wine. We also had to flag the waiter to bring our white wine over that was being chilled. The wait staff wasn't really attentive enough to refill glasses throughout the night. It's OK if you're busy but just leave the wine at the table. Otherwise, food is good overall. Highlights are the octopus starter and the cheesecake dessert (one of the best I've ever had). Some things are on the salty side - the grains that were part of my dish and the mushroom sides were on the saltier side

Craft is still one of my top faves in the city. Consistent quality and service. Menu was recently revamped. If you haven't been here recently, come back to see the latest updates.

Visiting NYC on a quick biz trip and brought the wife. We weren't even near celebrating our anniversary and someone recommended Craft! We weren't even promptly greeted with our reservation by an incredibly friendly staff that knew we were celebrating an anniversary. I had checked the menu days before going and found it a bit eclectic and pricey. The ambiance when we walked in although very nice didn't match my perception of the pricing. We weren't even promptly pleasantly surprised when we were presented with a menu that had our names printed on it wishing us a happy anniversary. Nice touch! Staff and service was extraordinary and very attentive. I wanted to do the Tasting Menu, but was overruled by my wife who wanted the Table Porterhouse for 2, which was very good and came with spinach, potatoes and mushrooms. 4 stars because I thought the price points were high, especially when I saw portion sizes at nearby tables, all else was excellent.

It's been a while since we have been to Craft in NYC -- probably 10+ years. Craft in Las Vegas is one of our hometown favorites! I am surprised I have never reviewed Craft. My guess is I have been dining at Craft longer than Yelp has existed?! I am happy to say it is still the perfection of hospitality that we remember from visits past. And of course great food and wine. This being a seven week celebration trip of our 35th anniversary I was shameless mentioning that fact in our reservation. Craft celebrated with us with complimentary Champagne and menus emblazoned with the event. Nice touch! We had the hamachi crudo, the quail and our perennial favorite short rib (the best on the planet) along with the mixed mushrooms and potato purée, and a nice bottle of Burgundy which matched perfectly. Craft is perfection. It helped define New York City hospitality twenty plus years ago and is still going strong! And the muffins that they send you home with -- awesome!

We had a pretty mixed experience here doing the tasting menu for dinner - not sure we would return. I liked maybe 2 of the 6 courses but that was about it. - Drinks: I really loved the lychee mocktail I got and my husband enjoyed his Negroni. - The bread and butter to start were fabulous. Fresh and homemade. - The first course of caviar with a potato puree and chips was delicious! Very strong start. Sadly everything else went downhill after that for the most part. - The second course of mushroom risotto was too salty for me though my husband enjoyed it. - The third course of Santa Barbara Uni with corn custard and crab was great. I loved the Uni and corn - the crab didn't taste all that great or fresh. - The fourth course was a spiced lobster that I didn't love but my husband thought was ok. The spices were a bit odd to me and my lobster tasted rubbery. - The fifth course was a roasted sirloin steak. My husband said his was fine but mine was very overcooked (well done) so couldn't eat it. I mentioned it to the waiter who offered to have it remade but we just wanted to get home at that point so we just had them take it away. - The final course was a buttermilk panna cotta, which was fine. They also gave us cream puffs as a final bite before we left. - Service: it was very attentive though they forgot to bring us one of our dishes (a side of potato puree). We mentioned it at the end and they seemed unphased and just said ok when we said we didn't need it anymore (eg never apologized).

Fantastic American classics at premium prices in a very classy Flatiron space. For full disclosure: I used to live in a loft upstairs in same building, and ate here a LOT : ) 5 star food: all these years, Craft has been a NY fixture for a reason: Tom Collichio's food is very VERY good. If you think "well, meat and potatoes is just meat and potatoes?" Eat here it'll change you to "wow how DID they do THAT with just meat and potatoes?" 5 star ambience: it's so beautiful inside that they film a Lot of movies inside when the script calls for it"classy Manhattan upscale restaurant" 5 star service: staffers ten to work here for years, and it shows in professionalism, service And courtesy One of my favorite restaurants in NY, and lived there 3 decades with maybe 50 consistently great visits to Craft

Craft was a great experience. I can see why the restaurant is highly regarded. Being solo I tried a variety of dishes! I started out with a crudo I was really excited because I love a crudo. It was so colorful and beautiful. After taking a bite I did have to stop. So I wasn't asked about dietary restrictions (not a requirement) on the menu the crudo did not specify grapefruit - if it was on there I wouldn't have ordered it. However the staff was really accommodating and brought an arugula salad as an alternative. The scallops were really my favorite. So fresh, and scallops had this wonderful vermouth butter. The potatoes were whipped and creamy. They were a great add to the scallops. The pasta was really good. Borderline salty, but still delicious the crab and the nduja was delicious. The portions were great and the quality was good. Overall a recommend.

I brought my gf here for a belated birthday dinner. This is definitely a gem, bestowed upon us by none other than Tom Calicchio. I made reservations and informed the restaurant that it was a special occasion. They reached out to ask the name of the VIP and unbeknownst to me, printed out her name and salutations on our menus. They print their dining menus every night, so that is just a taste of intentional service that you experience. When we arrived, we were shown a cozy table in their bustling dining room, adorned with beautiful wall art and Edison bulbs. The vibe is sexy and sultry. The cuisine is American fine dining, meant to be enjoyed family-style, and the diners, themselves, design their own dishes. Our server, Ed, introduced himself and proceeded to take our drink orders. He is so on point and if you dine here, you definitely want to sit at one of his tables. Lady and Cesar were also very helpful throughout the night. Cheron, the beverage director, presented us with our half bottle of a nice white bordeaux that I ordered, as I have not had a proper glass of wine in some time. As we ordered our feast, Ed had to calm me down, and gave me direction so that I did not over-order (I do that ALL the time). The portions are on the larger side, as they are meant to be shared, so order appropriately. All of the food was amazing. The way our meal was presented to the table was done so to allow all parties equal access to the dishes. We were so full by the time dessert came. During our meal, we received extra treats from the kitchen. First Course: Amuse-bouche - we received a palate cleansing watermelon gazpacho with parsley oil that was refreshing. Oysters - we had a half dozen kumamotos and they were extremely fresh and sweet. They are perfect on their own but were also served with a complimentary mignonette. Burrata - this was served uncased and creamy, with plums, figs and toasted hazelnuts. This dish was so fresh and full of depth. Grilled Octopus - we had this served with butter beans, capers and Calabrian chili. The flavor was wonderful, however my portion of the protein was slightly tougher than I prefer. I like my grilled octopus very tender. Main Course: Bacon-Wrapped Rabbit - I have been craving rabbit for some time now and I have to say theirs is a nice take. The sauce was silky and rich. However, the dish was not served as warm want as I would have liked. Braised Beef Short Ribs - the meat slid right off the bone. The ribs were so good. We devoured them. Potato Purèe - the potato was so smooth. I initially wanted gnocchi but they ran out. Ed suggested the purèe and it did not disappoint. Hen of the Woods - the mushrooms were cooked well but they were not served hot which was disappointing. Dessert - we shared a chocolate soufflé that was served with vanilla ice cream. The kitchen also sent out a chocolate ice cream and coconut marshmallows with a passionfruit purèe. All of the desserts were great. We had a late seating and by the time we finished our meal, the restaurant was pretty much empty. Cesar took over for the latter part of our meal and presented us with complimentary coffee cake muffins as we left. For the most part, our night was a thoughtful experience. I was not prepared for receiving cold dishes but happily ate all of the flavorful food. I wish it was all perfect but alas, life does not work in this way. I will take 80% perfection any day. Maybe an earlier sitting would have resulted in warmer food. The most important thing is that my gf thoroughly enjoyed herself and I was happy to give her a special night because she definitely deserves it.

3rd time we've been there and we've hoped for something new and exciting, yet leave continuously underwhelmed. No need to go back. While food is tasty and predictable, the service is subpar. Staff lacks personality & warmth - feels performative and showy without depth. We've been forgotten about several times, food has taken 30+ mins. Environment and decor is beautiful and the best part is leaving when you get the treat from the host stand on the way out (even though you sometimes have to remind them).

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

We ordered the Tuna Crispy Rice ( Yum), Guinness Wager Sliders (Nom Nom), Korean Chicken Boas (My Favorite!) and Carnitas Tacos.....I'm embarrassed to admit that we cleaned our plates like a couple of savages. Bartley Dunnes is a great choice to come solo, meet up with friends or come as a group of no more than 4, unless you make a reservation. They have a second floor that I unfortunately didn't get a chance to check out, so I can't write about that. However, I did see people coming and going straight up. I'll be back!

Stopped by Bartley Dunnes for a few happy hour drinks before heading to Museum of Modern Art for an…read moreevent. They have a great happy hour running from open until 8 PM, including $6 beers and $8 cocktails, which is a great deal for the area. ordered the Bartleys Spritz (Aperol Spritz) and a Tequila Mule. We sat at the bar, which runs about half the length of the space, and there were also plenty of tables throughout. The back section of the bar feels a bit separated from the main entrance area. There are some TVs throughout, and everything inside seemed fairly new and well maintained. It was not very crowded on a Tuesday early evening, so service was quick and the staff was very friendly. We did not order food this time, but everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled great. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spot for happy hour drinks in the MoMA/Midtown West area.
