I came here for my birthday dinner with my dad and partner and it was very good. It's tucked inside a corporate office building, so a little difficult to find, but once you step inside, it's lovely. The bar and lounge areas are downstairs and great for a cocktail or small bites. The main dining room is upstairs, and very refined with an open kitchen to peer into (depending on where you sit). Our server was amazing and took such good care of us. We ordered a number of items off the menu including the market lettuces, the beef tartar and the yellowfin tuna to start. We all enjoyed our starters. For mains, we ordered the salmon, the lumache and the tagliatelle. Everyone enjoyed the main courses, though my dad thought his pasta dish was a bit too salty. For dessert, we ordered the apple confit and got the cake as a surprise. I'd definitely come back here again to grab a drink at the beautifully appointed bar or for a celebratory dinner.

Just wonderful! Lovely atmosphere, friendly attentive staff, and yummy food. The sea bass was delicious. I avoided some spice and they modified it perfectly. The mushrooms in the broth sauce were extremely varied and delicious. I rarely order a mocktail, but did this time--the raspberry lychee drink. Delish! I asked for it to be made on the sweet side and they did a perfect job. A squeeze of lime in the drink and I had to have two. The banana custard dessert was just wonderful! I'm a dessert snob and this did not disappoint. The sourdough and , I believe, Swedish bread were so fresh and served with butter. Will definitely go back the next time I'm in NYC.

My partner and I came to Four Twenty Five for a late Valentine's Day date, and decided to try the tasting menu. Even though I was hesitant about some of the courses such as the caviar, ahi tuna, and beets salad, to name a few, the overall experience was great! The course is about 7 small portion courses, and the flavors were so refreshing and delicious! The presentation was crafted so well and fun and by the end of the course, I was definitely very full. My favorites were the butternut squash ravioli pasta, steak and broccoli, and the raspberry sorbet-chocolate dessert. The tuna was high quality and paired so well with a citrusy sauce. Moreover, the staff were so attentive and polite, and made sure we were tended to during our dinner. Highly recommend for a date night!

I had 7 slices of the delicious grainy bread! The 1st course was delicious.

We continued the month long celebration of my soulmate's birthday on Friday, the 23rd!! We were planning to order from the Restaurant Week Menu, but our server talked us into the Chef's Seasonal Tasting Menu. "Four Twenty Five" has nice decor with a full view of the kitchen on the 2nd floor dining room. Also, the service is amazing with their attentive staff. Lastly, the courses are absolutely delicious. Thanks to Four Twenty Five for the amazing experience!!

Happy Hour is really lovely. It's very chic and elegant with a fashionable crowd. I'll definitely return for dinner. Limited seating so do arrive early. Takes a bit of time for service but it's worth it.

The elegant, delicious meal starts with a slice of hearty grain bread and a slice of deeply savory sourdough, with plenty of butter to slather on top. The server noticed how much I liked their special bread and graciously packed a couple slices for me to go at the end of the meal. But first, a tasty amuse bouche of crisp asparagus tempura with truffle aioli to start. Then baby beets that were punctuated with little dollops of crème fraiche and a sprinkle of fresh herbs. A lovely start! The black bass crusted with sesame seeds sits atop a bed of wild mushrooms in a tom yum broth. The lobster was also delicious. The slab of pistachio crusted broccoli was crisp tender and a nice complement. I forgot to take a photo of the cherry tiramisu, which was truly the cherry on top of our wonderful meal.

Before coming here and before checking out the menu, I was drawn to this restaurant after seeing photos of the space, which was huge and elegant. The big names behind the restaurant and their credentials also helped. I was happy to glam up and enjoy a birthday dinner here. The yellowfin tuna and the kampachi under the crudos section were probably my favorite as they were tasty and refreshing especially in recent heatwaves we've been experiencing. Sticking with seafood for starters, we also enjoyed the octopus and tagliatelle (with crab) which were cooked perfectly and were flavorful. I enjoyed the steamed sea bass and my friend got the duck. The entrees were not as creative and did not impress us as much as the earlier dishes. Dessert however was really fun and tasty without feeling too heavy afterwards. We shared the rhubarb knafe and the strawberry shortcake, and were surprised with an olive oil cake with lemon icing topped with a candle to commemorate the birthday. The olive oil cake isn't on the menu (although it should be because it's so good) and was a delicious way to cap the evening. A visit dedicated to trying the desserts menu would definitely be worth it.

I went to Four Twenty Five the other day for lunch. The restaurant is a part of the larger office building, and the windows area all covered in shades, so it was a little hard to find the front door (it did not look like a front door). The restaurant inside is quite beautiful, with a bar on the first floor and the dining room on the second. It was very business lunch vibes. The service was good. I tried the following dishes: Yellowfin Tuna (sunflower seed hummus, lime, chili, lotus chips) (5/5): A very good crudo. I thought the hummus was really interesting, and the lotus chips complemented the dish nicely. Agnolotti (roasted squash, ricotta and parmiggiano cheese, brown butter foam, shiitake mushroom agro dolce, amaretti) (3.5/5): This was a pretty good dish, but nothing particularly special. The pasta was well cooked. It was very very rich and buttery. However, I don't know that I enjoyed the mix of flavors, and it was not very memorable. Black Sea Bass (mushrooms) (3/5): This was okay. The fish was cooked nicely and was tender, but the flavors were very muted. The mushrooms were a little salty. Pomme Puree (russet potatoes, butter, cream) (2/5): These mashed potatoes were incredibly buttery -- too buttery. There was literally a pat of butter on top that ran into the already buttery / creamy mashed potatoes (see picture). I loved mashed potatoes, and I love butter, but this was too much. For dessert, we had the apple confit and the chocolate dessert. The apple confit was nice, tasted like an elevated McDonald's apple pie (this is a compliment). The chocolate dessert came with a nice almond ice cream. It was good but very very dense. Overall, I had a decent experience at Four Twenty Five. It wasn't particularly unique or innovative, and I am not sure I would return.

The views are magnificent and food is delicious, wined and dined with celebs ! I was attending Martha's 100th cookbook release party

Wow!!!! RW lunch $60 at a spot I've aspired to eat at for awhile . Every detail is delicious from the urbane decor to the superb food where attention to detail is obvious. The meal changed a bit from the original menu but it was absolutely a meal to savor. Ate: Amuse bouche corn fritter Sangiovese wine Bread service Fluke crudo Hake The bread baked in the tin building is nutty & divine. The space just seduces. Delectable and subtle fluke. Spectacular service! This was such a lovely experience!

Service and ambiance were great. The space is beautiful, the bar had interesting drinks (the old fashioned had two pieces of delicious, buttery foie gras in it!), and it wasn't too loud or dark. But we were really disappointed in the tasting menu. Each plate was either too salty (silken tofu caviar), weirdly salty/spicy (yellowtail w/hummus), too sour (beet salad), too vinegary (agnolotti), or burnt (wagyu tenderloin). The only saving grace was the dessert which was a citrusy delight. Spent over $500 for this...Wouldn't recommend for the tasting and not coming back.

While the food was good, the service and fact that our table was ready 45 minutes after the reservation time really make it hard for me to give more than 3 stars as unacceptable for a Jean George restaurant. That said, the caviar started we got was delicious and the desserts were very good as well.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water. From the outside it didn't look like much but after passing through the two sets of glass doors... It's packed. And lively. And (really) loud. And it was only a Tuesday night?! (How are all of these people living so high on the hog, without a care in the world?!) We were escorted off to a little tucked-away enclave near the back, but the restaurant was just too boisterous and we had to shout just to talk to people at the other end of the table. We got our menus and there was a bit of 'sticker shock' on my part, I can't lie. "We're in NYC, what did you expect?" - the Mrs. whispered when she saw my eyes go wide. But $38 for chicken parm? (Which is what I went with after seeing it had its own little "parm-fection" hype on the menu.) And $36 for the Branzino (which consisted of one fillet on a small bed of wilted spinach)? Our table dabbled all over the place and for the most part everyone really enjoyed their meals. The food they're knocking out is legit, for sure. But the bill came out to over $60 a person (including the tip, but we didn't have apps or dessert and half of us just had water), which hurts when you're a cheap-o like myself. Our waitress was awesome (and she didn't even seem fazed when I tried to rattle her that we were going to split the check onto nine different credit cards... but we only used one). And Bryant Park (right across the street) was the perfect nightcap on a lovely spring evening.
