Stopped in for brunch this past weekend as they are one of the few restaurants in town that offer outdoor seating and a great breakfast. My friend and I ordered the "Gotta Have Dem Sticky Buns" and they were hugeee!! I legit had to laugh when they brought them out because I was blown away by the portion! We both ordered drinks as well. The Brunch Punch for me and a Bloody Mary for my friend. Both of us felt like they were a little on the light side if you know what I mean. But the rest of the food was fantastic. We shared the Beet Salad and Pierogis, both of which were tasty. Craft Urban is our new favorite in a town with many great options! Although we live an hour away, family business has been bringing us back to the tri-cities for frequent visits. Many out-of-state cousins have also been returning and we almost always end up meeting for lunch or dinner in Geneva. Yesterday we stopped here for an early supper, and the three of us were delighted with the atmosphere, the service and the food. The menu offers many interesting choices, several with a modern twist. My cousin and I each had the excellent Chopped Salad as an entree with the addition of succulent and perfectly cooked shrimp. The remoulade dressing was just the right amount - added to enhance, not overpower the fresh salad ingredients. My husband ordered the "not your average" Nachos. I was here the a couple weeks ago in December. The service was superb along with the food and drinks. It's a hidden gem located next door to the All Chocolate Kitchen, closer to main street than downtown Geneva and is must try. It is kinda pricey but worth to try. This is a great addition to Geneva. The restaurant decor is bold and the color of the building stands out. I love artwork inside. Our server was patient, kind, and very helpful on what to order. He knew the menu and even the food runner/line cook that presented our food to us was very nice and pleasant to speak with. We had for drinks: Yule mule cocktail and Virtue Cider beer from Michigan both yummy Shrimp cocktail- was tasty with big chunks of shrimp and avocado, nice touch with the house made lemon something chips Pork Belly BLT- was good but the bread was bigger than the meat and delicious truffle fries with garlic mayo aioli King Salmon-great cook on it, good portion size, and filling Chocolate Mousse- very good like a big deconstructed smore We found out they serve 1/2 price Ramen Friday and Saturdays after 10pm. Let me just start off by saying I've been here at least 3 times, maybe 4 and despite wanting to like this place, I just don't. Things sound good on the menu but don't translate into a minimal version of expectation on arrival. In fact, most of the stuff I've ordered (and those in my party), does not get eaten and as a real confirmation of missing the mark, it doesn't even make it to the to-go box. I also don't like that they pass the credit card merchant fee to the consumer. I know this is a direction many places are going toward, but its an insult to injury when you're leaving 3/4 of your meal behind. Oooooh, do I love me some Craft Urban! I can't think of one thing that I've gotten here that I didn't like. The cocktails are top-notch, the ambiance and employees are kewl, and the food gets chef's kiss after chef's kiss! Top plates for me are: 1. Cheese curds, which are tempura fried and include little pieces of pickled onions, which was an unexpected and welcome surprise because fried pickles are my love language. 2. Homemade craft butter thing, which is whatever the chef felt like making that day. So far I've had an Old Fashioned-flavored butter and another one that I can't quite remember, because I blacked out from how good it was. 3. Buffalo cauliflower, which has the most amazing homemade buffalo sauce. Once I leaned in to get a whiff of the plate we were just brought and I inhaled steamy pepper directly into my lungs, which caused me to cough but my breath was flavored like the sauce for a few minutes so I'd say it was worth it. 4. Spicy chicken sammich, because these are also my love language. I haven't gotten around to trying their late night ramen yet, but I have been to their Drag Brunch, which was fun and included bottomless mimosas (which are not bottomless but they do not skimp on the booze on these). Figured it would be extra, but increasing the cost of an item 40% should come with a warning. Long story short: We stopped in for happy hour, expecting to stay for dinner, but only had 1 drink each and an appetizer from their happy hour menu and left disappointed. Details: Service was great, but we were the only other table there at the time. So I had a glass of wine, my boyfriend ordered the Pickle on the Side cocktail with land debated (hard) about sending it back. Their happy hour menu only extended to their Buffalo Cauliflower & Fried Cheese curds, which once again, was disappointing. We tried the cheese curds because we figured it was a safe choice & it came with house pickles, and we usually love house pickles. When the plate came out, half of it was filled with fried curds and the rest was filled with fried THIN slices of pickles, fried slices of red onion & peppers. The fried onions were fun, but the peppers were weird and we were super sad the pickles were so thin & FRIED! We were hoping for fresh given the menu didn't say they came fried. We just ordered here for Cinco De Mayo Covid edition. Picking up my food up easily took an extra 30 minutes than I was quoted. But I get that. I'm sure their call volume was insane. My issue is with the value per portion. We tried to other from two other places before placing our order with CU. Both places were no longer accepting orders so we were happy that CU answered our call and let us place a pickup order. We ordered a 2-person dinner meal special and two to-go cocktails. Total with tip was just over $60. We get home, unbox, and are presented with what seems like an underwhelming about of food based on the total bill. To be honest, after finishing our meal, we both felt like it was probably an adequate amount of food (granted we needed to use a couple of our own tortillas from home), but something about only getting 2 tortillas and a handful of meat seemed very underwhelming for a cinco de mayo feast. Visited Craft Urban today. I am confused by this location. When we've gone here it's never crowded but the service is always slow and don't expect to be seated without a reservation. Servers will drop off a drinks and you want see them see them again frigid 20 min. Drop off your food check in for the check. The restaurant is open, so it's not that the staff is running around. They seem clueless to their clients needs. The food here is average. Had the classic breakfast today. Toast was greasy, 5 fingerling potatoes. Better off at Nosh or Butttermilk for traditional breakfast. Have had the brunch tacos, burger, the chilaquiles on previous trips. Overall there are better options within walking distance for brunch. Try Nobel, Stockholm's or the previously mentioned Nosh. I think you'll be much happier. read more

This was our third visit here and I have to say our first visit was very good, second visit was fine (just wine and appetizers at the bar) and this third visit was a bit disappointing. We had the same server both times we came here for dinner. She's great, but she must have been the one and only server last night. She was waiting on every table and there was one person working bar. The place was getting quite packed. Aside from my boyfriend and I, The other members of our table are very tough to deal with and she handled it like a pro. The drinks we ordered took forever both times. We were one of two tables when we arrived at 5ish and we didn't get our small appetizers until 20minutes later. We ordered our meal and that was an additional 30mins. We did have a table of 5, but we got there early to avoid the crowds and we didn't order anything complex. Overall, the main problems boiled down to possibly something(s) out of the staffs control that night. Slow service, non apologetic about how slow everything was coming out, not checked on unless we flagged her down or she asked if we wanted more cocktails, food was just okay for the prices and I feel like this place has amazing potential and has such a great social media presence. I just expect more for such a unique place. Farm to table small restaurants are amazing and I'd rather support places like this than mass chains. With so few food choices in the western suburbs, Craft Urban is a welcome addition. Having moved from the city to the burbs has at times been very trying and I really appreciate walking into a restaurant with a cool mural that looks like it belongs in Wicker Park; kind of makes me feel at home. My fiancee and I dined at this location a few years ago when Nosh occupied the space, so we were not aware that Craft Urban was here, we just stumbled upon it while walking around the neighborhood. We dined on a Sunday afternoon while brunch was being served and because we preferred the lunch menu, Dayna made sure we were accommodated. She was great and we really appreciated her style. We tried this place on a Saturday night. We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated promptly. The hostesses were super nice and so was our server. The place is very cool and it wasn't too noisy to have a conversation. We started with a cocktail and the avocado bread. My husband thought the beer list a little boring and he likes a lot of craft beer. I had the mezcal negroni, which I loved. I liked the avocado toast, but my husband wasn't a big fan. It was a little messy to pick up as the vegetables kept falling off so I ended up using my fork. I had the Korean BBQ duck breast for my entree. The flavors were good but it was very rare and rubbery. It came over some sweet potato puree and some sweet red cabbage or something similar. Both were delicious but there wasn't very much of either. I would have loved a couple more vegetables with it. My husband had the pork with spaetzle. He thought the pork was good but the spaetzle was over-cooked and mushy. He also wanted a little more on his plate. We both left a little hungry, which is not typical for me. I usually cannot finish a meal. I'm not sure if we will give it another try. The menu is very interesting and I'd love it to be good, but we were disappointed. I would stop back for a drink at the bar for sure. read more
