I got a boil with a pound of shrimp and added boiled eggs to my order (which i didnt get) and the sauce tasted like nothing just water and pepper didnt have barely a color to it. i knew i shouldn't have ate it but did anyway. not all, just a couple shrimp. the potatoes in my bag were hard and not how im used to, but ive never ate here only been at crafty crab in suitland which is my favorite seafood boil place. was not expecting this from here will NOT be back & will tell people to steer away. read more

I went to Timbuktu for father's day. I must say that the service was good, but my meal and my dates meal was horrible. We order the jumbo crab cake dinner which we received in about 15 minutes. This place is awful. I have lived on the Gulf coast and frequently visit restaurants (Creole/ Cajun) here and in Houston, Mobile andNew Orleans. My husband and I ordered scallops, crab pot and gumbo to go. When I picked up the order had very small oysters instead that looked like they came out of a jar. Now,I have good gumbo. This was not gumbo,. Horrible taste like Cajun Asian style. This was their second week opened. From the reviews I see it is the worst. The Carryout boil bags were on point. We bought 3, two were the smaller $23 Garlic Butter 1 pound crab leg bag. And the one of the $42 large Cajun sauced snow crab legs with shrimp, potatoes and corn. The sauce was delightful and delicious (He) ate the rest,too full to finish. Will return soon! read more

WOOOO CHILE THE GHETTO!!!! Made a last minute decision to come here after being told the wait at Rock n Toss would be an hour. I figured why not try this place during their "Grand Opening" being that it's two minutes from Rock n Toss. First off, we were told it would be a 15 minute wait although there were booths that were empty. On top of that, multiple tables were dirty that no one was tending to. We went to the bar and there were customers behind us complaining that they were never given utensils to eat with. The bar tender took forever to take orders so we ended up just going back to waiting for our table. We get to the table, which is right in front of the kitchen, and heard an employee screaming (yes screaming) obscenities and complaining about how she doesn't like the working conditions. Everyone could hear and was shocked that occurred. We wanted to order drinks and were told that they didn't have a cocktail menu and they also didn't have grenadine to make a Shirley temple. We got the Boom fire crab boil which was ok in flavor but got no utensils to eat with. Our server, Ariel, was ok but the food took 35 mins to come out. It seemed like everywhere we looked someone was disgruntled or was asking to speak to the manager. Im completely disappointed in this establishment. For their grand opening, I expected a better first impression. Unorganized and unprofessional would be the two adjectives to describe it best. If you're reading this, do yourself a favor, save your money and go to Rock n Toss down the street. Food and service is WAY better. read more

I visited on the first day and was pleased with the service, food and atmosphere BUT they have gone down fast REAL QUICK. We went a few weeks after the grand opening and noticed that the service was declining. Ok....no problem maybe we just came at an off time. Came back the following week and WOW so much had changed in that 1 week. We were now being given plastic utensils to eat with which hardly allowed us to pick up our food. We asked for silverware and was told they no longer had them anymore (in 1 week the staff and the silverware vanished). Smh Now, I know the crowd can't be controlled or determined because it's a business and they are operating for profit but when I tell you that I truly LOVE my people why must we act a fool. The manager/owner who is Asian has clearly hired predominantly young, men and women of color who are running the restaurant as if it's an all out club. The music volume was repeatedly increased with lyrics spewing the N-word and explicit lyrics. There were several people of other races looking around in disbelief and clearly uncomfortable at the music blaring through the speakers. I personally located the manager and explained to her this was not appropriate and needed to be turned off. While she acknowledged and quickly turned it down (NEVER CHANGED THE STATION) an employee came and turned it back up before I could get comfortable in my seat. I expressed concern to our server who seemed disturbed as well but told me they play this kind of music all the time for the patrons in the bar area. RIDICULOUS because I was seated in the dining room on a Saturday in the early afternoon full of families and children. Management needs to do better ASAP. The restaurant has not even been open that long and already has a bad reputation. read more

I'm not sure what experience these waiters have to have but it's probably none. This may be the worst waiting staff experience I've had at a restaurant. The food is great but our waitress forgot every single thing we asked for...no exaggeration. The food is the only reason they got two stars. Our waitress did also end up picking up food we were planning on taking to go and throwing it away before we could stop her so I was also annoyed by that. Finally, we watched a waitress spill water on the ground and never even come to clean it up. Ok I honestly I was skeptical of this newer crafty crab location but we decided to go anyway. I want to start with how they are doing well in the department of social distancing in the restaurant since there is no outdoor seating. Which we do look for these days but they made it easy with their setup in the restaurant. The tables had distance between them of more than 6 feet and nobody was sat at certain tables so that was a plus. My husband ordered some different fried foods catfish, hush puppies and lemon pepper wings which were all good. The catfish was a little watery but no major complaint. I got the boiled bag with 1/2 lb shrimp and 1/2 lb crab legs with corn and potatoes with the house and butter seasoning. It's was perfect. Ok let's talk about Rasheeda, our waitress, she did a good job she brought our drinks out pretty quickly although the menu was pretty much limited to the $14 drinks. This has got to be the worst seafood place I have ever been to in my life. The young lady Gabby was very helpful however the people in the kitchen threw her under the bus. It took us nearly 2 and a 1/2 hours to eat catfish crab legs and a salad. Do not patronize this establishment. This service is horrible and the bar tenders are not appropriate as it relates to fixing drinks. They didn't even have short glasses and I was served my Hennessy out of a tall iced tea glass. I absolutely recommend this place for an avid seafood lover. I had so much food left over that I ordered for Mother's Day feast with four people that we've got enough for a second meal for four people. I cannot tell you how good the spices Were. I cannot wait for the restaurant to open back up and I can start patronizing them . I'm not a spicy person so I tried the Cajun Mild and it had a nice bite to it......very mild. I've ordered from them numerous times and each and every time the order came through quick, hot and no issues like missing or wrong items. I usually go with the seafood boils and the food itself is great and doesn't taste overcooked or old like some similar seafood places I've tried. Today was my 3rd time visiting and the food continues to be consistently good!!! I am hooked on the Snow Crab Legs and Shrimp Boil. My first 2 visits were around the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis so I did carryout. At some point Crafty Crab ended up closing all together. I took a chance today and called, someone answered and was able to take my order. When I arrived I see that one of the glass doors has been converted to a service window in order to take payments and pass out orders in a safe manner. The BOOM sauce and smoked sausage in the boil bag is what makes this dish something that I will be treating myself to all summer. We went during a weekday evening. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all. We were seated right away. The waitress took 30 minutes to come to our table. She was very apologetic and nice but the service is slow. The food was just ok. I got the snow crab leg and headless shrimp boil and added sausages with the boom sauce. My food was not really hot, it came out in a bag, some pieces were warm some not. The temperature was not even. I'm glad they gave gloves and a big because the sauce was good but messy and it stained my fingernails even through the gloves. The gloves is a good concept, but it's the cheap one size fit all plastic ones that comes with relaxer boxes so they don't fit anyone with small hands. Will I go back? Probably not. It was just ok, they are still new, maybe after they work the kinks out it will be better. But it's a no for me. read more

This is the second time I went to this location and both times, the wait staff, while pleasant, appeared to be disorganized. Experience comes with time so I can excuse some form of disorganization in a newly opened establishment but what I can't compromise is lack of customer service and a filthy restroom. Both times I was in attendance, the restaurant's restroom was filthy with paper towels overflowing on the sink area, dirty toilet seats, and paper towels on the floor throughout the bathroom. On my most recent visit, I requested that the waitress contact the manager to discuss my concerns about the bathroom. It took approximately 15 minutes for the manager, who I later learned was the co-owner, to come to my table. And she only came to my table after another customer, noting my frustration, whispered to me that the woman who passed my table three times was indeed the manager. I expressed my concern about the wait time that it took for her to come to my table and the filthiness of the restroom. She was dismissive of the wait time and claimed she was going to clean the restroom herself. Sitting by the bar with a clear view to the restroom area, I waited another 10 minutes for the waitress to come to the table and noted that no staff appeared to have gone to the restroom to clean the area. In short, customer service or lack there of can make or break a business. A filthy bathroom is a health violation a and training staff on every aspect of managing a restaurant is essential to a strong foundation. While my food was good both times I went, it's not worth it to go back. read more

I actually tried this place on one of the worst days to go on (Mother's Day) Needless to say I ordered online @ 1pm and never received my order. Sat outside in the parking lot for 2 hrs , Couldn't even get through to request a refund. There was no organization, & for it to be a month into COVID lockdown there should have been some type of customer friendly operation. As a former employee i can note that the bowie location is on the road downhill. The new management is completely unprofessional and rude. my server position was terminated without any notice and without good reason. There was no formal termination letter/agreement. The manager claims i "didnt have the potential" to be a server, despi it being my first serving job and i hadnt worked there for 2 weeks yet. The food was decent,nothing special. I got fried scrimps and potatoes. Whatever the potatoes were marinated in tasted like nothing but salt. I gave it to my family members. I looked online for the menu and no prices listed next to the food. My grandma asked for some honey mustard for me cause she placed the order and we were given some nasty orange sauce that tasted like spiced French dressing. French dressing makes me gag. A few of us went on Saturday the food was okay, my Hennessy Margarita was decent but the service was HORRIBLE. First there is a booth right behind the hostess stand which is used as an employee break area (with Chic-Fil-A food) AND a utensil wrap station. We should have went somewhere else when we seen that but time was already invested. We had to wait an hour to be seated (not a big deal), we waited 20 minutes then we inquired if we would have a server (while servers are chillin in the break booth). After the server took our order it was 10 minutes before we got water, 10 minutes after that for bar drinks, another 40 minutes before we got appetizers and another 15 minutes after that our food arrived. It's steamed or fried food which takes all of 20 minutes, if that! If you know that your establishment is packed on weekends adjust your staffing. I wasn't expecting Michelin Star dining but that service was ridiculous. read more

Initially was told to wait would be 1 1/2 hours at 7pm on a Saturday but it ended up heing only a 40 minute wait.. We were seated and promptly greeted by our waitress which was very pleasant. I think her name was Krist But We had time with no pressure to look over the menu as it was our first visit. She didnt take long to come back when were ready to order. We ordered the Headless shrimp and Snow crab leg combo. With The Boom sauce!! The food did not take long at all to come but when it did it was soooo good. It was really good!!! The waitress kept checking on us which was great. And then when the bill came I was totally surprised at how inexpensive it came out to be. 100% satisfied.. I will be returning!! read more

This has been the worst experience. We made a 7 pm reservation. Our drinks didn't arrive until 7:50pm. It is currently 8:41 pm and food has yet to arrive. I've never had such terrible service. I've heard great things about the Crafty Crab in District Heights, so was excited to try this location for the first time. It's located in what used to be the Outback Steakhouse building (before it relocated to Crofton). On the inside, not much has changed from Outback decor. The bar decor looked to be upgraded but nothing else stood out. My seat was wet when I sat down so as a germaphobe it kinda grossed me out. We waited for about 20 minutes before stopping a server walking by and asked who our server was. Shortly after, our server appeared. The service was pretty much nonexistent. Our server would go missing and we'd have to ask someone else walking by to assist. After the 4th time, it was just annoying. The food wasn't bad. They do charge for extra seasoning which is different from Rock n Toss. The bad service just put a damper on the whole experience. I'm not sure if I would come back to this location. Rock N Toss does have a limited menu, and I think the Crafty Crab may have a few more options. But their (RNT) service is definitely better. read more
