Walked in during the middle of the afternoon. The food was great homemade food. Real mashed potatoes (lumps and all), green beans with some flavor of ham. My family and I eat here almost once a week. Sometimes twice. The waitresses are so sweet and attentive. The best waitstaff. Not to mention the food is fantastic diner fare. Breakfast consists of Amish bacon (bacon with a brown sugar crust), eggs with real cheese, fresh blueberry pancakes, monster homemade cinnamon rolls and red potatoes on the grill top. Lunch and dinner are just as great featuring fish and chips, taco salad (my husband's favorite) and homemade soups. If you're really hungry, get the fried chicken fillets. It includes sides and fresh cornbread. You'll be full. And then they ask you about dessert. Homemade pies and delicious banana pudding in a giant glass. Go. You won't be sorry. read more

I have been going here since I was a kid. It's right around the corner from me and I can get whatever I'm in the mood for. The breakfast is off the chain especially that Amish bacon and biscuits and gravy. The lunch and dinner is great too I feel like I'm in a friends kitchen and all the lady's who work there are super nice and you just feel at home. Decided to come here instead of the restaurant in my hotel next door and I'm glad I made the choice. Both the food and the service are not what you'd expect from a small roadside diner. This is a rare find - sort of "old fashioned", which also describes the clientele. They have a few local favorites, but I had the taco salad, which was great. Will definitely be back. read more

Food was great, server was awesome but the manager was racist. My hispanic family was asked to leave immediately after we finished eating so that other white folks could sit down. I live 4 blocks from this place and today was my first time eating here. It will definitely not be my last, the menu is big and the prices are so cheap! I ordered a hamburger today with fries and it was the best I've had homemade not frozen. I understand they have excellent fried chicken that is cooked to order so it takes a while. Your typical dinner. The food was not worth the money. The coffee is outragously priced at 3.98 for a bottomless cup. The coffee was run of the mill it was week. When I saw how crowded the parking lot was going to a Pirates spring training game at 11:30 AM I turned around. It's a diner with southern recipes and fantastic food. I had meatloaf SMOTHERED in gravy, mashed potatoes, and OKRA better than my mother - laws. Pancakes looked outrageous, I'm convinced the fried chicken must be to die for. I'm telling try this place. Best part PIPING HOT..$10 bucks what a deal. I'll be back. read more

Have been here several times and always sat at the counter.. During the last three visits was overcharged on my check. This time I brought a hand held calculator and added up the menu prices before I ordered. I was still overcharged, but this time it was the sales tax. Food is good diner food with fast service, but watch out for bill pading and any extras. read more

We used to live in East Bradenton and this place was always a favorite. Now we have moved closer and it is even more so. Any excuse to go to Crager's is a good one. Favorite items are the Country Fried Chicken, definitely the best anywhere in the area, the fist and chips--better than Anna Maria Oyster Bar which is just up the street, the Angus Pot Roast, the Prime Rib Sandwich. This is one of my favorite "go to" restaurants. Good quality food at very reasonable prices. I personally love the waffles with strawberries and a teeny bit of whipped cream. The bacon is terrific and the home fries are the best. I don't know why people have complaints about the restaurant. Had the liver and onions with mashed potatoes and the liver was OK the mashed potatoes were over microwaved before serving. They also microwaved the stale dinner rolls which turned them to rubber. Have had better TV dinners. read more
