Came here for brunch on a Sunday and had no wait time which I was surprised about. Due to the pandemic the restaurant had limited seating (about 3-4 tables inside and 6-8 tables outside). We opted to sit outside and luckily the weather was in our favor. We ordered a fresh squeezed orange juice, iced coffee, side of bacon, egg white omelette, and a nap with a blanket (or something along those lines lol). The food was great! The omelette was fluffy and flavorful, the nap with a blanket (French toast stuffed with cheese and bacon topped with a poached egg and hollandaise) was tasty, and the bacon was perfectly crunchy. The drinks were also amazing! (Note: the juice was kind of pricey but it is fresh squeezed orange juice!) The only issue was we had to wait a decent amount of time for the food and the waiters didn't seem too attentive. However the waiter that took our order was also the chef so that was probably why. Good breakfast / lunch spot with outdoor seating. The service was fast and the waiters are super friendly. I tried the banana foster pancakes (subbed the bananas for blueberries). It was a good portion but nothing special, the foster sauce was good but I wish they added more blueberries. My boyfriend got "shelly's burger melt". The sauce was flavorful and the burger was perfect medium rare. Huge fan of that. I also recommend their iced coffee which is a generous size and good coffee for a cafe! read more

The food is good, above average breakfasts and lunches. Nothing fancy, but good. The staff is friendly, and the place has a nice homey feel. But, and with the two stars you knew a but was coming: service is UNFORGIVABLY slow on weekends. The last two times we went it took over 45 minutes (second time *just* under an hour) to get a straightforward breakfast order. If you're okay with that, go for it. But they won't let you know how slow they are, and don't seem to think there's anything they need to fix. read more

I enjoy their food here because it's so different from the traditional breakfast that I usually order out (I often get a sunny side up egg with white toasts and grill tomatoes). I usually get the Brendon Benedict or the hurricane. I like the coffee stations. It is a self-serve coffee, although some people might not prefer this method, I enjoy getting my own coffee. I noticed that there are arts on the walls and it seems that Craigs support local artists which I like but I'm not too sure about that so if someone can fact check to me on that, let me know. But I recommend this restaurant, I haven't tried their dinner or lunch menu, but the breakfast is top-notch. read more

It was stuffed with bacon, eggs, avocado cheese and potatoes. The home fries on the side were not as good. They were soft when I asked for crispy. They have a many breakfast options. Love it! Our server Sabrina was incredible. Helped us fast and gave great suggestions. It was busy but that was no issue, food came out fast, hot, and delicious! LUNCH REVIEW I came to Craig's Cafe for lunch on a Thursday around noon as I had a work meeting nearby and I had read some good reviews online. It was listed as an "upscale diner" online and I love good diner food so I decided to give it a shot. When I walked in, I would not refer to it as "upscale". There didn't seem to be a lot of thought put into the set-up of the place or the decor. The tables were typical wooden restaurant tables, no fancy booths in sight. And then the flat top grill is out in the open in the back right corner and you can see the guys cooking the food. They also have one of those clothes line-type things so you can slide orders down to the cooking area from the cash register. This is not what I would call upscale. HOWEVER, this place is a diner and it is DELICIOUS. I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she recommended the Shelley Burger, which I ordered with cole slaw. It comes with a thick patty plus bacon and thousand island dressing. It comes on grilled sourdough so it was a little messy but DAMN it was good. One of the best burgers I've ever had, cooked perfectly. The cole slaw was good, not great. Best of all, this place is CHEAP! Service was prompt and friendly. I will be back, Craig's Cafe! read more

Side orders were thrown in randomly with one of the breakfasts and small portions. Home fries are just salted and peppered undercooked potato slices that were inedible. This place has been updated since I've last been here. It's nicely decorated and the service is still good. It's within walking distance of the Quincy Center T station. My friend and I came here for breakfast and both got poached egg dishes (I got the California Benedict breakfast) which were delicious. Met a friend for breakfast here one Saturday while trying to find a place that was accessible to the T (since I was coming from Boston) and an easy drive with decent parking (since he was coming from Abington). Quincy fit the bill and given the generally positive reviews on here, Craig's Cafe was our top choice. Arrived around 9, which was perfect because as soon as 10 hit, there was no seating. Go early if you want to beat the weekend brunch rush! Quick note, though it is literally in the "heart" of Quincy Center, the black storefront and gold letters made it hard to see. I was actually standing in front of it and nearly missed it. It made me feel silly, but when my friend said the same thing, I realized it wasn't just me. One perk to mention off the bat is that there is all-you-can-drink coffee. The cups are small, but there are 8 varieties to choose from, and you refill yourself as needed. I'm not a coffee drinker, but my friend tried an almond variety (which he said was a little sweeter than he was looking for) and several cups of the regular. My chai was also slightly sweet, but actually hit the spot that morning. As for our food, I ordered the Vermont benny and my friend went with Craig's. Both were delicious. The hollandaise sauce, which can make or break the dish, was spot on. Mine had goat cheese, which was a nice take on the traditional, and the breakfast potatoes were cooked perfectly. Our bill was around $20 for two, which I felt was fair for the quality of the food and unlimited coffee. Our server was a gem. I usually save my receipts so I can give appropriate shout-outs, but unfortunately I've managed to lose this one. Rats. Either way, she checked in at appropriate times, refilled waters as needed, and was pleasant despite the place being overwhelmed at one point by a group of about 16 teenagers. What I appreciated most was her not rushing us out even though the cafe was clearly busy. I hadn't seen my friend in over a year, and we had a lot to catch up on, but not once were we pressured to leave. And yes, we gave her an extra nice tip to make up for it. One three separate occasions I have been in Craig's on a Sunday and there has been only 1 server. Clearly this is either status quo or a recurring issue. Either way it is a problem that management does not care to resolve. We waited 20 minutes to be seated. 28 minutes after being seated someone came over to acknowledge us and take our order. (#1 and Craig's Benedict). After 48 minutes we asked about or order, shortly after inquiry our food arrived ice cold. The server apologized and did not charge us. Unfortunately after almost 2 hours wasted and still not having eaten, it was little consolation. I was having a small party at my house yesterday and decided I needed one more tray of something . I had already reluctantly ordered a couple of trays from another place at a ridiculous price. I ordered a small tray of chicken piccata from Craig's and it was the star of the day. I did think piccata had capers in it and there wasn't one to be found (forgot maybe?) so I was a little leery but g'damn. Absolutely delicious and so reasonably priced! I paid $100 for 2 half trays (meatballs/sausage pepper onions) at this other place. Probably would've saved myself $25-30 had I gone to Craig's and I'd bet anything it would've tasted better too! Best breakfast place in Quincy. They have the typical eggs/bacon/toast but what really stands out is their weekend specials. They always have some new creative breakfast sandwich or scramble that makes deciding what to order so much harder. Highly recommend the talk of the town, steak and cheese omelet, or the hangover cure if it's on the specials menu. Great service- the staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcomed. Recently tried their dinner as well. On Wednesdays they have a special; two entrees and a bottle of wine for 40 dollars- SO worth it. Eggplant parm was awesome and everything tasted so fresh. Wandered to this café because it was close to Quincy Center and had decent reviews. And the food deserves the rave reviews but the service is what brings this place to one star. Our waitress (a Dark Haired Lady) was terrible - she kept going into the back where I couldn't at least try to get her attention when we needed things. She forgot almost everything - the lemon in my friend's water, not to put ice in my water, who ordered what dish and what we ordered - ie my friend wanted sweet potato fries instead of potato fries, the side of bacon my friend ordered, the syrup to go with her pancakes, etc. I had to flag down other waitresses for everything but the side of bacon which she hung out for long enough for me to able to immediately tell her she'd missed. It was absolutely atrocious service and we only managed to pay our bill when we told one waitress (let's call her Strawberry Blonde lady) that we were in a rush and she coerced another waitress (let's call her Blonde Ponytail) at the counter to just let us pay our bill. This is because Blonde Ponytail had been telling us the two times we asked if we could just pay that our waitress would be back any second and she would have to take care of our bill. To the waitresses - sorry I can't remember any of your names - our original waitress Dark Haired Lady might have told us when we sat down but I never got the chance to ask her again since she pulled a disappearing act. She did reappear long enough to tell us to have a good day after we got our bill, which was a little funny. Anyways, shout out to Strawberry Blonde lady - you're the only one who knows what real service is. Everyone else is terrible. Also important note: since going here last weekend, I've found out from neighbors that this place is notorious for terrible service. So don't think you're going to get lucky. They could have only 3 tables (like they did for us) and still manage to delay you by about an hour. This goes to getting takeout from there as well, apparently. The minute i noticed that the lights lighting up their sign were only halfway lit, i should have known to walk away. First impressions matter. We were lured by the outdoor seating. 3 bulbs were out on their sign and then the string lighting was strung completely half-assed. (As seen in the photograph i took.) My wife's dish came out less than fully cooked, the manager came out and offered to remake the dish, which was nice, but we just didn't have the time to hang around and wait. But this review is mostly about the decor and cleanliness level. I try not to be too negative, but this place simply needs to be closed down. Or run by completely new management with a track record of turning places around. Redecorate, clean up the counter, maybe put in place some stools and make it nice. Right now, it's on the complete opposite. I applaud them in making the attempt into evening dining. But you can't make it a half-assed effort. You need a minimum of two waitresses, two cooks, and one manager on duty. I saw about half that. It's not possible to run a place like that. We had long wait times as well. Menu, the menu needs to be reworked. Add more vegetarian items. And maybe even hire a new chef... i mean, there is nothing i can think of that doesn't need to be replaced here, other than the location. You have first-rate real estate, in a great location. But honestly, we would have been better served going to Subway next door. The only reason i'm leaving one star is that the manager on duty tried his best to make things right he gave us half off my wifes dish. This was an interesting experience. My boyfriend and I got breakfast Saturday morning here because we were in the area and they had some good reviews. While the food was delicious other things turned us off. I loved the Bacon Mushroom Hash but when I ordered it the waitress didn't know what it was. She asked me to repeat it then scurried off to check the menu. My eggs didn't come out the way I ordered them. I specifically asked for them not to be runny but fried and they came out poached. But that wasn't a big deal. It was the atmosphere that just really killed everything. Tables and floors were filthy. The mugs for the self-serve coffee weren't clean. The wallpaper was crooked and hanging off. Ceiling tiles were broken and had water spots. They had some animal planet show on the television that was performing some kind of animal operation that was SO unappetizing! While it was nice the chef came out and checked on us our waitress however did not. Maybe she was new but it took FOREVER to get our check. She kept looking over our head and when we asked for it she looked all confused. I was looking for a low-key place to bring my Dad for breakfast before he headed back home after a weekend visit. This place had 4 stars and people seemed to enjoy it, so we went even though I usually prefer to bring visitors to "old favorites." I will start by saying that this was one of the most frustrating brunch experiences I've ever encountered. The on street parking was difficult, but certainly not the restaurants fault. We finally parked, walked a few blocks, and got our name on the list. 1. The expected wait time was 20-30 minutes, which seemed kinda long being there were only 2 small parties in front of us. 2. The restaurant has an opportunity to improve the wait experience in a few ways. They should offer you a cup of coffee at the self-serve station while you wait. They could have some seating there. They could remove the super awkward 2 top table by the window, because as the wait queue built up, we had a hard time not intruding on their space and their breakfast. 3. The most frustrating thing I noticed was there were tables pushed all the way up against the restaurant's left wall, and then an entirely unnecessarily wide, open floor plan that could have EASILY fit more tables between that and the counter where people sat. But instead of filling in more tables, they had a queue out the door. And then, to make it worse, they were seating parties of 2 at a table set for 6, which was made still worse because the tables for 6 were really 4 top tables next to 2 tops. So all they had to do was pull the 2 top a couple feet out, and they could have seated a part of 2 AND a party of 4! Watching this made me so annoyed (yes, I will admit I was hangry at this point, but c'mon! Efficiency!!!!) 4. We finally sat and my Dad ordered a coffee, which had apparently been available to him the entire time, but nobody had offered it to us. He got up to make his coffee and there were no cups. (More long waiting while someone went to restock the coffee station.) 5. We ordered and there was very little in the way of accommodations for dairy free patrons, including no alternative to dairy milk, which is pretty standard at most places these days. My Dad is diabetic and requested sugar-free syrup, which they also didn't have. (I have my own thoughts on sugar-free syrup for diabetics, but that's a whole different sort of post.) 6. We got the food and it was quite mediocre after all the waiting. I had ordered some sort of vegetable skillet, and the pieces of sweet potatoes were so big, I may as well have just ordered sweet potatoes and asked for mushrooms and other veg to be sprinkled on top. My Dad got a breakfast sandwich and it was small, pretty standard, and underwhelming. 7. It took forever to get a check. Overall, the staff were friendly, but that doesn't outweigh any of the obviously glaring issues this place had. And I almost didn't leave a review at all because I had nothing nice to say, but I hope this restaurant takes a look at what they are doing. Within 5 minutes I identified a handful of things they could improve, and I know next to nothing about the restaurant business. read more

To echo what has been already said, everyone at Craig's is super friendly and the service is delightful. It is the cherry on top to a delicious, filling, and affordable breakfast. My usual is the breakfast burrito, which comes with bacon, home fries, avocado, scrambled eggs, cheddar, salsa, and sour cream and a side of home fries--all for $5.99. I have a tendency to "personalize" my orders to my taste so the fact that I can do so freely here with no additional charge is a huge plus: I replace the bacon with sausage, ask for no home fries inside and replace the side of home fries with their sweet potato home fries. The space is very simple and casual, definitely not much of an ambience going on. The only downside is that I tend to come on Sunday mornings around brunchtime and it gets pretty busy--there are always free tables but there're only 1-2 people waiting tables so the service can be on the slower side. But as long as you give yourself enough time and you're not in a rush, it's worth the wait.
