Jared from Crannic Mobile Mechanic was AMAZING! I was able to get a hold of him quickly. Even though he was busy at the time he listened to the situation I was having with my car and gave me some feedback. He asked me to then text message him the cars information and my name and phone number. Jared was able to get to me the very next day after my phone call. He's really on top of things and that's so important here in the city with alternate side street parking. When we met the next morning he quickly got to work diagnosing the problem. I really didn't have a lot of information for him,one minute the car was working the next it wasn't. My son drove home from work at night with no incidents, noises, no trouble at all with the car. The next morning he went out and the car just wouldn't start. Jared has a mini garage in the back of his truck, he came out with all kinds of devices and computers and hooked them up to the car to find out what the problem was. He was really thorough, he went thru the car from top to bottom. He discussed with me that it was the starter that had gone on the car. He gave me a great price and even went himself to the store and purchased the part. He was super conscientious with costs, for parts and even said his go to first choice has a discount code so he can use the coupon. I thought that was really great! He really seem to go out of his way to try to keep everything reasonably priced. And believe me when it was all said & done the price was better than reasonably price, Jared worked all day and then some on my car. Jared brought a helper with him to work on the car,Manny, also very nice and friendly. They got to work right away. At one point Jared thought something else besides the starter might be wrong with the car. But after further investigation he let me know that everything was fine and it was just the starter. I really thought that was great, it's hard to find a really honest mechanic. When you're someone who has no mechanical knowledge at all you are just at the mercy of the people fixing the car. I thought that showed a lot of honesty on Jared's part, somebody else might've thought this girl doesn't know anything about this car and just told me anything and I would've believed it. After working all day the car was finished. This is a little car, 2008 convertible Mazda Miata. These men had to practically take the car apart to get to the starter, it really was a lot of work. These little cars they pack everything so tight under the hood. If I would've been in the garage paying by the hour they might've charged me double of what Jared did. But OH NO! it wasn't over...lol The car started once and then wouldn't start again. Jared and Manny must've spent an extra hour and a half or more looking into what went wrong. At one point I really felt bad, it was starting to get dark and I do understand sometimes when you fix one thing on a car it can put pressure on other older parts. He told me that he would continue to think about the car and get back to me right away. I told him I totally understood. About 20 minutes later my phone rings and it's Jared, he's got it! I go outside and there is the car running. He said he was just sitting in his truck going over everything in his mind. He just felt like he couldn't leave. And then bingo! I have to say Jared really went the extra mile to fix my car. And again I would've had to pay double of what Jared charged in the garage. And I know for a fact they wouldn't of felt the personal responsibility when something else went wrong. They would've just told me sometimes the new parts break the old parts... Will just have to give it another try tomorrow and charge me for every hour they spent looking. Not only did Jared sit out there for hours going over the car and what it could be he then did my oil while he was thinking... LOL and even gave me the container with the extra oil in it. I have found my permanent mechanic, and that's Crannic! And I will tell every person I know with a car Call Jared! PS... When the car was bought they did not give us the special tool to take the hubcap and tire off the car, they were not regular Lugnuts. Jared went and bought the kit in or did you take these tires off. When we were going over the price I said you forgot the price of the kit. Jared said don't worry about that, I paid for that, and I'm adding it to my tools so if I ever come across tires like that again I'll have them. I really thought that was great. Again a lot of other places/people would've charged you for it and then added it to their tools anyway. I really can't say enough about Jared, he was such a pleasure to deal with. Jared and Allan are top notch guys and mechanics. We have an older vehicle that wouldn't start so we needed someone to come check it out. Most mechanics will not even come to you, but I called the number and he said he would try to get over later in the afternoon if he finished the job he was on. One star- don't over- commit. He texted later with an update and said he would stop by to check the vehicle because he promised to do so and I had been waiting. Two stars-follow up when people are waiting. They came by at about 7:30 for a quick look and wound up putting in major time. What's major? They were still at after 1 AM. Jared has been back to check on the truck again because he wants to be sure he foxed the root problem. That level of skill and professional commitment is hard to find and their prices are more than fair. So do the math. They come to you, they do good work and the price is always reasonable. I had an AWESOME experience with Crannic! My car had been sitting in storage in Harlem for almost two years without being driven and I needed to have it looked at before starting it up again. I knew for sure I'd need a battery but wasn't sure about any of the fluids, belts, hoses, filters, etc. nor was I aware of how much gas was still in the car. I called Crannic, gave him my car model info (for the battery) and made the appointment. The Gentleman confirmed my appointment the day before, then again the morning of the appointment to give me an arrival window and then again about 30 minutes before he was going to arrive. He showed up on time, with the exact battery I requested and the receipt from the auto supply store where he had purchased it that morning. The battery came with a warranty so he provided me the information for that as well. He had all of his tools and promptly got to work, had the battery installed within 20 minutes and checked all my fluids, filters and other parts. I explained to him that it hadn't been driven in almost two years and asked what kind of additional services I may need next time I take it to a shop. He very honestly told me that all of my fluids were good and all that I would likely need is an oil change, a new part for a connection that had come loose and a standard service based on the mileage on my car. I thought for sure that I would need to have my fluids flushed and a lot more work done! He charged a very competitive price to install the battery and was very knowledgeable, professional and courteous! My only issues was, being quoted a price for a job of replacing gaskets. Knowing what comes with doing the job is crucial. I have to say 98% of the mechanics out there, knows cleaning parts, and making sure the area is free of trash, is apart of this job to make sure that your job of replacing gasket is done the proper way. No diagnoses was needed because i already knew what the problem was, and let him know what the problem was. He quoted me a price that included cleaning, but that didn't totally happen. When doing this type of job it requires certain thing to be done so that the job the mechanic is doing can be done proper. Nice guy, but when a mechanic is changing gaskets for a oil filter housing leak on a 2009 Audi, Intake manifold gaskets have to be replace as well and is apart of the job. Replacing any gaskets, requires that the mechanic clean the area well so gaskets can set proper. I had to run around to look for a vac with a long enough extension so i can vac out the cylinder heads and clean around the area where the intake manifold gasket would go. You would also assume that a mechanic before removing the intake manifold, would also remove any debris so nothing falls inside the cylinder holes. Nope ,he didn't do that either. At first the price he quoted seemed fair, and also stated that it included cleaning. However after having to do what i did, it should have been less. Not to mention, while working on my car another car pulls up and he is diagnosing that car. Also the leak is present and looks to be coming from the Valve Cover Gaskets that were also replaced as a part of the job!! He told me something that i know to be true, and that was "you spend more to get more" It's true, the next time it would have just be worth taking it to a shop. At least you can get a warranty with the work being done. Update 03/13/2022: $700 job and the leak is still not fixed!!! TAKE IT TO THE SHOP OR YOU PAY TWICE FOR ONE JOB.... I have a 86 Chevy Truck that I was slowly putting together for the winter this summer. Due too a bad motorcycle accident I wasn't able to finish so for the rest of the summer it was stuck in my backyard. Everything was together but the truck wouldn't start. I'm very grateful that I was able to find Crannic because even tho I was physically incapable, I also have no experience tuning a carb and distributor to work (which is what it needed). This guy hands down is one of the better mechanics I have ever had working on my truck!!!! I have a Jeep WJ 2004, had a radiator leak. I called a few weeks ago and we scheduled for him to come over a couple days later. Jarrod came over and started working on my truck even though it was getting cold. This dude is a warrior, worked on my truck no complaints. He not only did the radiator, but also the water pump and the thermostat. He even did the alternator which I asked him to change last minute, which was a bust because the replacement I bought was defective and he had to swap it back out. Excellent service, fair price. I needed to have a transmission pressure switch changed on my Honda Civic, and I have had nothing but headaches anytime I deal with the local Honda dealer. I called him at 9am and told him what I needed done. He was at another job and asked me to text him the info, I sent the text and within 10 mins he replied and scheduled to come over once he finished his other call.
