Three of us shared two pizzas - the Avalanche which is loaded with wonderful, gooey cheese and roasted garlic and the Demon with an array of meats and cherry peppers. Stick with the pizza here. We made the unfortunate mistake of ordering the lasagna "pinwheel" and it was so dry that the pasta wasn't cooked. It's a vibe for sure! We sat at the bar and chatted with staff. The bartenders were nice and knowledgable. The food was solid for a mountain town. Admittedly I likely order the wrong pizza crust because we heard they were known for their delicious crust. My crust was a little overdone and nothing special. I tried two different pizzas and the toppings were very good. The star was the potato bisque. I keep thinking about it! It was sooooo good! I want to try to recreated it! Food & Service was great, per my Mother, however, the Greeter was HORRIBLE. She was rude, short & when her friend asked to be moved to another table, she asked "Why?". She had seated them right next to a table of men who were very loud. She didn't offer an explanation as to why they couldn't be moved right away. I am shocked, saddened, and angered by the treatment my family received at Crave last weekend. It was a busy Friday night and my husband put us down for a table of 5, which included my 9 year old, 7 year old and 2 year old daughters. My oldest child had an unexpected play date with her friend who was also celebrating a birthday, so we invited her to join us at the last minute. After waiting for an hour, we were texted that our table was ready and promptly arrived with our party of 6. The hostess looked at me with frustration, saying that she would have to get this additional person approved by her manager. I said, no problem, my youngest child is a baby and can just sit in our laps or wedged in a high chair between my husband and I. She nodded in agreement, so I quickly obtained a high chair and put it at the table, being sure not to block the aisle and tucked away so that it actually took up less space and depth than our adjacent chairs. Soon after arriving, the manager, Mark, abruptly approached our table with an air of arrogance and disgust, saying that this was a table for 5, not 6 and that we would have to leave the table immediately and resubmit our names on the waitlist until a proper table for 6 became available. Mind you, this is at 7 pm after we had already waited an hour with a family of "hangry" children. We calmly explained to him about the unexpected addition to the party and could he please make an exception, especially in consideration of the fact that the 6th member of our party is a baby, a lap child, not eating solid foods, in a high chair and not technically eating at the restaurant. He said absolutely not, no exceptions. Again, not wanting to escalate the situation, I calmly explained to the manager to please help us out. We are locals. We eat at this restaurant all year round. We support both Crave and Simple Eatery all year round. He said absolutely not, no exceptions and snidely retorted, "We have policies at this restaurant that work for our patrons all year round, too. These policies are in place for the comfort of all our guests." In a final attempt at reasoning with his unyielding and irrational stance, I said, "Please, you can see that the baby is in between us in her high chair. She's pushed in further to the table than our two chairs are. She's actually less depth of linear footage than our chairs, so how can she be making other guests uncomfortable?" Nope. Denied. Apparently, this tiny man just hates babies, children and families. We walked out. Never in my entire life have I walked out of a restaurant. My older daughters were in tears, saying, "Mommy, why was that man so mean!!!?" Sadly, I couldn't really answer that question. This is the MANAGER of the restaurant who has been put in a position of authority to ensure good customer service, and yet this is how he treats people. I've never been treated so rudely and for such an asinine reason. Even days later, I'm still just flabbergasted by how we were treated. It's not like we have an abundance of restaurant options in our tiny town, but I will never go back to that restaurant as long as Mark is in charge. read more

I was pleased to get my Chicken Cesar salad so quickly! It felt light to me but I took the box and left. When I opened it up there were a "few" slices of chicken and the salad was much less than usual. I was shocked that the meal was $17 AND it was less than usual. read more

Food is great, service is consistently the worst experience. We are locals and I want so badly to like this place and they just treat people so badly. They've lost our spot on the list when we were waiting and instead of admitting it, they got ugly and argued with me until another server came over and apologized and said that yes they made a mistake and would seat us. Mistakes happen but fighting with guessing and saying we hadn't put our name in? Wild. I've ordered a pizza with no meat, they brought it out with meat and shrugged their shoulders when they realized it came out wrong. They consistently have half a dozen open tables but say the wait is an hour. And look Ive worked in restaurants for years and know you can't seat everyone at once but an hour wait when the dining room is dead just means you can't run your restaurant. Tonight we went in for takeout and they told me to use their app To order. I had been trying to order online and the app wasn't working. I had a fussy toddler and just wanted to grab a pizza and the hostess just told me to go to the bar, with my toddler. No thinking outside the box and just saying what pizza can I grab you, no problem solving. It's always like they are so frustrated to have to feed people. With limited options in BV it's a shame the staff is so ugly to guests. Go the the Elkhorn, family owned and always warm service. read more

Good place downtown BV - we had a quick wait and they texted us when our table was ready, quick service even though they were busy. We have the avalanche cheese pizza, the pig and fig pizza and lasagna. Be warned the original lasagna is super cheesy!! We all enjoyed the meal. Really fantastic pizza every time, but for me the stars of the menu are the Parmesan potato soup and the ceasar salad. The cheese rinds and Parmesan really elevate a hearty and flavorful soup and the cup is just the right amount for me. The salad dressing is made with raw egg and anchovies and reminds me of the homemade dressing of my youth. The pizzas are large enough to share and always come out with the perfect amount of char on the crust. Paired with a glass of rose, the spicy demon pizza really hits the spot on a cool evening after a day of adventure on the river and/or trails. read more

Crave is one of our go-to spots for an awesome meal in BV. Everything we've ever had there has been great. The pizzas come in either focaccia or sour dough crust - both are fantastic. Don't leave without the cheesecake! It is a great way to cap off dinner. They don't take reservations and the place is usually busy. Good, but not exceptional. I had the fig and pig pizza and a side Caesar salad. My son had the BBQ pizza and the Caprese salad. My Caesar salad was under-dressed; a bit more dressing would have been helpful. My pizza was overly cheesy for my taste and didn't have the punches of flavor that I was hoping for. Stopped here for pizza and bier on our way back to Gypsum. Can't say enough positive about this restaurant. The Minestrone soup was homemade and amazing. Awesome place, friendly staff and tasty, creative pizzas - not sure what else you could ask from a pizza place. We ordered two pies to take home for Monday Night Football and, even though we let them sit for 90 minutes while we waited on our third person to arrive and then reheated them in the oven, they were great! We had the Bee Sting (9 out of 10 for taste and 10 out of 10 for creativity). It has a drizzle of honey which sounded weird but my wife insisted would be great. As usual, she was correct and it was our favorite pie. The Supreme is a more classic offering and suffered a little more from the reheating process but it was still a solid 8 on the flavor scale. My son's linguini with meatballs was satisfying, but somehow lighter than the usual, the sauce was bright. Great pizza, but bad service. Nice spot and the sordough pizza was delicious. But the waitress was really slow and inattentive. I think she was working the bar and didn't want to be bothered to serve a table, too. After a long wait for our meal, we had to wait close to a half hour to get our check, take the card (actually the host noticed us waiting for a while and he was kind to bring it to her), and bring back the receipt to sign. read more

The people who got salads said they weren't good. They barely touched it and chose not to eat it. Unfortunately I forgot which ones they got, so I would recommend the pizza if you're coming here as that seems to be their speciality. Parking was pretty easy. There's a nearby lot.
