Love me some pho that have outside, dog friendly patio access. The menu is quite vast with many different pho, rice, bun options including fresh noodles. Service was very friendly and they have a happy hour 20% off discount (3-5:30pm weekdays) for all pho, bun and rice dishes. Restaurant is nicely decorated and there is a large dog friendly patio. Free parking as part of strip mall. We order both pho and rice dishes - the portions were very generous, the dishes came beautifully laid out and flavors were pretty good. I still prefer OG Pho Hanoi on soup and meat quality but this is a good option for good value also. read more

A solid 3.5 star but bumping to 4 because of their attentive service and a clean vibrant environment. I was pleasantly surprised that they serve broken white rice as many restaurants pulled away from their menus. The beef rib pho was 3/5. The broth could use a little bit more work (perhaps less diluted and more time simmering). The grilled pork chop rice plate looked great from a presentation standpoint but the chops were toooo thinnly sliced, making them a bit dried and tough to chew. Otherwise, the flavors were spot on. If they have to cut cost, I personally would prefer a thicker cut, more juicy chop with one less slice. read more

I used to love Pho This Way -- it was easily one of my go-to spots in San Jose for solid, flavorful pho. We went there regularly and always left happy. Unfortunately, something has changed, and the last three visits (including this most recent one) have been really disappointing. It seems like the original owner might no longer be there or in charge, because the whole vibe and execution feel different. The service has gotten incredibly slow, and the servers often don't seem to know the menu well. This last visit was particularly frustrating. We were seated and our server didn't even come by to take a drink order. When I finally waved him down to order two Vietnamese coffees, he didn't understand me at first and then started explaining that he had to take the other tables' orders first. I get that he was busy, but I didn't need the lecture -- just take the order and put it in. It felt like we were being talked down to while already waiting. The food quality has also declined. One of the big reasons we kept coming back was the generous portions of meat and consistent taste. Over the past year, the meat has gotten less and less. This time my wife's pho came with only two small pieces of meat. I understand costs are rising everywhere, but shrinking the portions like this just feels like we're being shortchanged as customers. If prices need to go up to maintain quality, then raise them -- don't quietly reduce what we're getting. I really wanted to keep supporting this place, but at this point it's hard to recommend it. VERY happy! I know there are so many options around here that we've had before, but on this day we decided to try Pho This Way where we were able to be seated immediately for a Saturday lunch. It smells delicious as soon as you walk in and even better tasting. I originally wanted pho but I decided to get the shaking beef with garlic noodles and it was a huge portion size and very flavorful. I'm also glad they used good quality beef. I also tried my husband's pho and their broth is exactly how I like my pho broth to be. We always come for Pho Ha Noi, but today their power was out so they were closed. So we decided to try Pho This Way because we've walked by it many times on our way to CA Bakehouse. So disappointing. Much regret. The rare steak was way lower quality, very thin slices that weren't very tender. The broth tasted more artificial, artificially sweet. And they give lemon instead of lime?? Isn't authentic pho supposed to come with lime, not lemon?? Didn't enjoy the food at all. Also, service was suuuper slow. I am not sure when, but this place quickly became one of my favorite spots in Vietnam town. I've tried several items on their menu, like the Salt Roasted Squid, Fried Chicken Cartilage with Fish Sauce, Fried Rice, Pho, and Bun Bo Hue, but my absolute favorite is the Fried Chicken Rice Plate with Fish Sauce. The others are good, but this rice plate is on another level. Definitely very flavorful and delicious. It's heavy on the fish sauce, so if you're not used to Vietnamese fish sauce, it might be a bit strong/quite overpowering for your palate. If I had one tiny thing: the prices are a bit on the higher side compared to some other pho places in the area. But given the quality and the experience, I still think it's worth it. Additionally, the service here is great. Nice and friendly group of people. It's a family-run place, so it has a really homey, comfortable vibe. They're not fancy or over the top, but they make sure you have what you need. Overall, I definitely recommend this place! If you want an authentic Vietnamese spot, but not feeling the fish sauce, there are always lots of other items on the menu to choose from that are also very good. read more

It's a dry mix flat rice noodle with a sweet soy sauce and various cuts of beef, topped with fried shallots and peanuts. A side of hot beef broth with beef and meatballs. Side plate of beans sprouts, basil, jalapeño and lemon. It was well balanced, flavorful and filling. It's a generous portion but I manage to finished everything. I left happy to have found this gem. The restaurant has a cute little space and was very orderly and clean. The staff was attentive to us and got us started with ordering pretty quickly. We orderd the Pho Suon Bo (beef rib) and Pho Ap Chao (crispy fried pho). The pho broth was nice and rich with a solid amount of food albeit still somewhat expensive at the price point or arouond $17-$18. The pho ap chao was surprisingly good - it can be quite a hit or miss depending on the restaurant. I really like when places deep fry thicker cut noodles as they can get really crispy while still holding gravy sauce and the veggies/protein well. Pho This Way is a solid choice in the sprawling shopping center of Vietnam Town for anyone coming through for a visit. read more

The dry part comes with pho noodles, a sweet mix sauce, meat, peanuts, and other vegetables. In addition it also comes with broth, meat, and beef ball. The sauce was sweet but I felt like something was missing to make it satisfied, but it was still good. I also really enjoy the broth just in case you're sick of the dry part. The fresh noodles were mushy and not chewy. Pho ap chao gion - not edible here. It was stale and not crispy. The beef they used was tai, so it was dry and lean. I see a lot of fake 5 star reviews here. Note to the owner, spend less time writing fake reviews and more time training their chef and controlling food quality. The portion was incredibly skimpy: a tiny bowl of rice, 2 small slices of tomato, 3 slice of cucumbers, 1 piece of lettuce, and 6 paper-thin slices of beef.In San Jose's Vietnam Town, $23.50 is a premium price where other restaurants serve massive, high-quality portions. I confronted the manager about how unethical it is to overcharge and under-serve like this. Treating customers this way will ruin their business.Save your hard-earned money and go somewhere else. Extremely disappointed. Any other pho restaurant I've been to gives short ribs and this place says "beef rib" on the menu. They give you back ribs, which are cheaper ribs with less meat that is tougher. The only reason to use them is to increase margins. Probably the same reason they leave the peritoneum (membrane) on the rib. They are too cheap and lazy to separate it and have decided to make the customer do the work. For the same price any other pho place will give you short ribs with more than double the meat that is more tender and you aren't forced to do the work their employees should.
