I visited here a second time and this time made reservations so I could enjoy a full sized table and the main dining room. I tried different items on this visit including the devilled crabs, flat iron steak, monkey bread, barbecue gulf shrimp and the chocolate souffle. I also ordered the blue crab rice to go with the beef dish. Hits: devilled crab, monkey bread with smoked butter, flat iron steak, chocolate souffle Misses: gulf shrimp, blue crab fried rice. The gulf shrimp were small in quantity and came with a ton of gnocci which was okay. There was also not much of a "barbecue" flavor to them. The crab fried rice was too salty and maybe had too much soy sauce. Eddie V's crab fried rice is very hard to beat. Unfortunately the day I ordered the dark chocolate souffle, they had to substitute the ice cream for a biscotti gelato. That's an unfortunate substitution as I was really looking forward to the vanilla bean REAL ice cream. Two other issues that came up were the ordering process and the restrooms. The table had 2 different servers taking orders throughout the meal and they came to the table at different times and couldn't keep track of which dishes we had ordered so far, and which we hadn't...so they had to ask. This is kind of inexcusable for such a fine dining restaurant. The second and maybe most important issue was the unisex restrooms. When my dining companion decided to use the restroom toward the end of the meal, she found the toilet seat left in the up position and the toilet to be dirty from the previous customer. they have parking spaces in the garage, (that are reserved for the guest of credence) and they also have valet as well, that park in that same garage. the service is good, but they are booked out a lot of times, so booking a reservation is highly recommended. you can always call in, and see if anyone cancelled as well. we had the cornbread gnocchi - feels like you can't taste the truffle much, because the corn overpowers it, its veggie heavy. when it got to our table it wasn't hot, it was like lukewarm. leftovers were good hot though! hearth roasted whole fish - 10/10 - and they also pour this butter table side, and debone the fish as well. they do let you know the areas you may find bones. you know fish and their bones monkey bread - 10/10 - they recommend to get this other appetizer so you can mop up the flavor, but we didn't - we just got the butter it came with and added trout roe. we enjoyed it! This is my first time to visit a Michelin restaurant. Mid-century modern decor, vaulted ceilings and an open kitchen definitely create a bougie vibe. We were greeted quickly and our server knew the menu really well. We came for brunch. Still pretty early in the morning, we began with their coffee--lackluster, at best. Bitter and lukewarm. I suppose a cocktail would have been a better choice, but Dry January is in full swing. We ordered the brunch deviled eggs, country ham, and the half chicken as our main dish. The deviled egg can be an art form in an of itself. Theirs was more paint-by-numbers than art. The Benson country ham requires some caveats: 1. The country in question is far fancier than the southern ham we expected, but the prosciutto was no less on point. The farmers cheese had no flavor, but the tomato jam makes up for that a bit. The real delight of this dish was the biscuit: flaky and delightful. The great redeemer of this meal was the half chicken. We had a deliciously spectacular girls dinner at Credence. Located near Hotel Zaza and Ciros in the Memorial area. They have complimentary valet and designated self parking in the garage. Do not attempt to park in Ciros as security will check and request you repark in the designated lots. Our party of 6 had made reservations for a Saturday evening with just us ladies for our holiday exchange. We had the luck to have the "Chefs Table" next to the Kitchen to see the kitchen do its magic and soak in the delicious aroma. It was all of our first time and Eugene was our waiter. I forgot the assistance waitress name, but she was excellent as well. The service was amazing. They were knowledgeable of the menu and provided us with recommendations and insight of their signature dishes. Cocktails and mocktails were great. I got the Little Sunday Mocktail and other ladies got the Dead Flower and Exit Plan. Interesting names. Lol. Items we ordered and loved. For Starters: - Monkey Bread - Deviled Crabs - Pan De Campo flatbread (Bentons Ham) - Yellow Fin Tuna Tartar Entree - Bone In Ribeye - Medium Rare. Cooked to perfection. With twice baked potatoes. We finally made our way to booking Credence Restaurant. We heard they just received an award of Michelin recommendation. We reserved 6 ppl on Thursday and we end up only getting a table outside which turned out to be magnificent . The weather was perfect and they provided 2 heaters right by us to keep us all warm. This restaurant had a fun chic feeling ambiance, and let me tell you the attentive service we received all night. Delicious dishes we had and I highly recommend includes Deviled Crabs, Fried Quails, the Raw Seafood tower, the Roasted Fire Seafood Tower, Caviar, Caesar Salad, Texas Waygu which is plenty to enjoy by the table. Fun experience was the Martini table side. If your into Martinis, this is great choice. Credence really delivered a memorable fine dining experience with fantastic, creative dishes and a stunning, modern Texas ambiance. My family had dinner here last night. The restaurant is beautiful, very elegant in a casual way. The service was very good. We had: Monkey Bread (5/5) - The parker-roll type bread was delicious. The herb, garlic butter that accompanied it was delicious as well. Raw Oysters - Tasted fresh but they only offered one east coast type (which we had) as well as one gulf coast. Wish they had a wider selection. Gulf Shrimp Cocktail (4/5) - Good flavor (had a seasoning on the shrimp itself that had a bit of a kick). I think gulf shrimp are generally fine, but for a fine dining establishment, I think gulf shrimp are not big enough for that "wow" factor. Comes 5 to an order. Gulf Crab Cocktail (3.5/5) - First time we had ordered these. They are blue crab claws so very small. Came 15 to an order. Flavor was okay but again, but crab claw presentation, I think these are too small to serve at a fine dining establishment. Pork Rib Chop Schnitzel (5/5) - Wasn't sure what to expect. It's basically a fried pork chop, kind of think of it as "chicken-fried steak" type dish with pork and no gravy. This was the dish of the night. Really delicious. Perfectly seasoned and fried, and the meat was moist. Rib-eye (4/5) - The steak was perfectly cooked and the flavors were good. The meat was a bit tough for a premium ribeye. Credence is a big and beautiful restaurant. There is a bar area, an indoor dining area, and a patio dining area. The menu is short and sweet, but it has the essential classic food. My server was attentive - refilling my glass, and checking in time and again. I had the monkey bread as appetizer, which was perfectly baked. The top layer was slightly crusty, and the inside was soft and fluffy. The garlic herb butter was a good pairing with the bread. I had the black truffle linguine as my entree, which on the first bite, had a good truffle taste. However, the truffle taste diminished in subsequent bites. The sauce had a good level of creaminess, and it was to my liking. For dessert, I had the coconut cream pie with burnt meringue, and toasted coconut. It's rare, as a native Houstonian,to find a place that the entire family has never tried yet. Enter Credence. After many Instagram shout outs and mentions from Michelin recommendations, I booked a table for 4 on a warm Wednesday evening. We found a parking spot close by however valet is complimentary(We found out after parking) Now for the juicy part. The restaurant was warm and inviting. A true 5 star experience. We started with the Pan De Campo. It was like a fluffy pillow of cheese, mushrooms and a hint of spice. So good. Since we all wanted to try a little bit of everything we ordered for the table. The Credence Ceasar was the best Ceasar salad I've ever had. The shallots with the parm made all the difference . Cornbread Gnocchi with truffles also a show stopper. The strip steak and house fish were both tender and buttered nicely. We also ordered from the bar which was excellent. We ended our dinner experience with the very large coconut cream pie slice. The food and service were truly a Texan 5 star. Our only beef (See what I did there ) was with the large table of very excited tipsy women who were so loud we couldnt hear each other talking. At one point a few of them even screamed as their stories got funnier. By the end of our dinner we all had headaches and got the check as quick as possible so we could leave. I'm pretty generous when I give out my reviews and a place has to generally underwhelm in many categories for me to give out 2 stars. In this case, my first visit to Credence since moving back to Houston from the SF bay area, I was excited and intentionally chose this restaurant. I had reserved seating for two via Open table and when we got here for noon reservations on a Sunday there wasn't many people around at the time. A major pet peeve I hate is when the hostess sticks you in the back away from everyone, without asking is there a preferred location. The menu looked very appealing with a lot of great choices to pick from. From the Starters portion of the menu we landed on the toasted pecan cinnamon roll, which was tasty and enough for two people and would recommend for a brunch starter. Since I don't often have brunch I focused from their Signatures portion and ended up choosing a failsafe but usually always tasty eggs benedict. I was a bit disappointed when the meal was brought I because the carbohydrate with the main dish was a salad. Sorry but i just never have salads as my side choice with eggs benedict, anything but. The eggs were poached well, but the hollandaise sauce was way too tangy (lemon) and the country ham was prosciutto, meh. In hindsight I should have sent it back and ordered something else. Service was good and there was good teamwork from the other staff members to pick up anything we needed in case our server was elsewhere. What the final cherry on top of a rather disappointing brunch was the valet didn't text me the contact information to request my car, especially I made the point to ensure he got the number correct. We eventually found and got my car. Mistakes happen and no one's perfect, and I probably would have given an additional star if there wasn't the added problem, but that's the way the dice rolls. You never get another chance to make a first impression and Credence did an underwhelming job. It may be another minute before I decide to come back again, too many other options. read more

Came here for lunch with a group of friends on Friday and the general consensus was 2 stars. We all had high hopes and the overall experience was underwhelming and disappointing. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the smell of smoke is immediate and inviting upon entering. The hostess was friendly and efficient. Not sure if it was a combination of high expectations or our waiter overhyping the food, but we found most of the dishes to be mediocre. We started off with the monkey bread and the deviled crabs, which were everyone's favorites and the only highlights of the meal. For the main course, the table ordered the express lunches consisting of a variety of the beet salad, the Credence Caesar, the deviled egg, the cornbread gnocchi, the roasted tuna and the heritage chicken. It's decked out with soft lighting, and the gorgeous greens and gold hues create a luxurious feel. The service was so attentive and friendly. Our waitress really took care of everything we needed, answered all our questions, and gave us excellent recommendations. The FOOD! There wasn't a single thing we tried that we didn't love. The star of the show is the deviled crabs! It is such a standout and unique dish. I can't even compare it to anything else. It's almost like a crab gumbo, but way better--stuffed into the crab shell. I very much liked the caesar salad, much more colorful with diff textures than other caesar salads i've tried in the past. the waiter gave great suggestions (they are michelin recommended for their service!) and everything else was great. He did say that dinner vibes are much more romantic but also way busier, with two waiters serving each table. def will check them out for dinner service one day because i had a great time at brunch. they even give you a little coat check token for your leftovers to take on your way out so you don't forget it at your table, and restrooms are decorated as elegantly as the rest of the place. i didn't look too hard but the most obvious parking was valet; i swung around to the back side of the neighboring commercial building to park, but i would recommend valet to find parking on busy times due to nearby lots reserved for other restaurants in the same lot. read more

I actually prefer smaller oysters because I don't like the texture of larger ones, so it depends on your preference. However the flavor was really good, they even had a bit of a kick. An excellent example of 5 star service, especially on a Tuesday. I walked in at 5pm on a very hot day and asked to sit outside - which was excellent people watching - and we were near a fan. The seat I sat in was in direct sunlight and since the patio was empty at the time, I thought the seat choice was strange. A few minutes later someone came out and asked if I wanted to move to the shade and explained my seat would have an hour more of sun. They made sure I had a place for my purse, and when a menu item wasn't to my standards, they asked what I wanted it replaced with immediately. Which is what I would expect from a restaurant with these prices; it *can* break your bank. That being said, I dined with a child and the child actually ate a salad - the Caesar salad. I've never seen a kid eat a salad, and trust me this kid is not a fan of lettuce or veggies. For the entrees we got the black truffle linguine and the shrimp and grits. We added shrimp to the black truffle linguine and it was worth the up charge. The reason I'm giving this restaurant 3 stars is because the service was exceptional. Our server's name was Dequan and he was excellent. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the food. This was my first experience with Credence and the atmosphere was new, modern and a little noisy. The lunch gnocchi was my first experience with gnocchi (in particular cornmeal gnocchi) so I have nothing with which to compare; I would probably not have it again but it wasn't bad. I have had plenty of beet salads and this didn't make the top ten. The grilled tuna salad my husband ordered rated a 0 on a scale of 1-5. The tuna may have been grilled as advertised, but there was no evidence of it, and there was absolutely no taste to it. I would have expected there to be some seasoning, but again, no evidence. The green beans were so crunchy they might as well have been fresh-picked and the sauce over the snow peas was so tasteless, Ranch dressing would have been a huge improvement. I could only eat one, and I really like snow peas. Until they get a better chef, I will not be returning. read more

This is a wonderful addition to the Spring Branch restaurant selection. My husband and I enjoyed celebrating our anniversary here. Our servers, Waylon and Elvin, were very knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations. We ordered the Yellowfin tuna tartar with pickled chili, citrus, and crispy rice to share. It was delicious and I would recommend it to any tartar fan. We also shared the Credence Caesar made with endive and little gem lettuce, crispy shallots, aged Parmesan, and croutons. It was ice cold, fresh, and a great start to the meal. In between appetizers and entrees, I ordered a mocktail called The Exit Plan made with non-alcoholic aperitif, grapefruit, rosemary, and blood orange soda- tart and very grapefruit forward. A refreshing drink for those who are staying away from alcohol but don't want to just drink juice. For our entrees, I highly enjoyed the Barbecue gulf shrimp served with aged cheddar grits agnolotti and a Nola-style bbq sauce. This reminded me of any Cajun style shrimp, but elevated. It was great! My husband enjoyed the Pork Rib Chop Schnitzel served over a little gem salad with lemon and deviled gribiche. It was bone in and huge looking. The gribiche was tart, and paired well with the batter on the schnitzel. We celebrated with the Coconut Cream Pie made with a salted pretzel crust and topped with burnt meringue, shaved chocolate, and toasted coconut. It was amazing!!! And HUGE!! I had been wanting to try Credence for a while. I was recently in the area and decided I would drop in. I sat at the bar and the service was great. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The restaurant is beautiful. I also appreciate the people out front stopping people from parking in the lot that is reserved for 2 other restaurants in the area. The food was delicious and flavorful. I had the heritage chicken, crab rice, cabbage and monkey bread. Everything was done well and came out quickly. We had an anniversary dinner, and just didn't get the service we wanted and got put at the table right by the door. Came pretty close to walking out, but I didn't want to ruin the night. To be fair , it was a busy night around Christmas time. The seating for couples is not great. Most of the seating in the interesting areas of the restaurant are 4+. The design of the place was really modern and cool looking. They pushed the stuffed crabs as their best starter. They tasted like really good crab cakes in a stuffed crab. Great, but not remarkable for what I expected from Goode's premier restaurant. The rolls were rolls. They looked really nice, but I used to get those at Blacked Eyed Pea for free. I think I got some dumpling or ravioli thing and my wife got the steak. Honestly I was just hoping for more. There's a garage behind the restaurant as well as valet parking and some street level parking. 2. Time- although it closes at 9 PM if you get there if you make an 830 reservation, they are not gonna kick you out. They are super accommodating, which is a blessing. 3. Atmosphere - it is definitely a really nice atmosphere whether you are having a girls night date night or just like family dinner definitely a nice place to go. They also have some outside seating for a nice cool fall night. Of course you can go on summer days, but you know how Houston weather is...unpredictable. 4. Staff - the staff was just great sometimes it seemed like they were in paying attention, but it seems like they have a cooperative staff where other staff members will check in on your table as well and I wasn't sure how I felt about it but I think I like that. I was there to celebrate my niece and nephews' birthdays and they were super nice to them very accommodating to the kids asking the kids what they wanted and sometimes you know I just appreciate that because they're little adults too. 5. Food - OK let's talk about the food. I didn't come here with any real expectations. I thought everything would be OK but I left being like the food was bomb. I am still talking about the food till this day and I went a week ago. So I started off with the devil crab never knew what a devil crab was, but baby that was delicious even my niece was asking for more. The tuna tartare also good also good you say that one more time also good. Man, the salad on the appetizer that salad was so good so good. I wanted more and I was only trying to take a little bit from my sister and I was upset that I didn't order one for myself. For my main course, I got the snapper with the roasted we got roasted carrots and mashed potatoes. Let me tell you something that snapper was so delicious. It was like everything was seasoned so well so so well and yeah, I need to go back. 6. Drinks - I got a glass of wine which wine is good usually, you know they're not overpriced. I can't speak to the cocktails but next time I go, I will go for happy hour or for brunch. I am looking forward to the next time that I go to this place. read more

Wow. I had never heard of this spot (I think it's relatively new) but a friend recommended it for girls dinner. It was absolutely fantastic. We shared the burrata and each of us got a steak. We also shared the fry service. Fries were ok but the steak was cooked to perfection and had perfect char. Apparently they cook a lot of their food over an open flame. The server was very attentive and helpful and the place was crowded! As we were leaving it was giving more of a lively night life vibe. Can't wait to come back and try some more things. read more

Absolutely lovely! What a fun, energetic but classy restaurant. We made reservations for after the zoo and were greeted warmly with 2 children and in our shorts. The Voladora cocktail had the best grapefruit flavor. I chose vodka rather than the tequila and it was great. We had to try the deviled crab as our appetizer; the photos on Yelp are accurate. The flavor is amazing! And we had the gnocchi. The combination of the crab and mushrooms with the toasted pecans was superb. Finished our meal with the buttermilk ice cream. Fabulous from start to finish. Can't say enough good things about the young man who refilled our waters, cleaned up a spill, and talked up my grandson. He's going places! Credence takes restaurant dining to another level! Everything, from service to food to ambiance, is top notch. It is clear that the employees are happy to be there and take pride in being a part of the restaurant. Our favorite place to eat is the Seafood Counter which is relaxed and we can watch the kitchen doing their thing. Don't miss the MONKEY BREAD (hot yeast rolls with a smoky essence fresh out of the oven)! We've also really enjoyed the Roasted Tuna, Cornbread Madeleines with Pimento Cheese and Ham and the Wedge Salad. Honestly, I can't imagine this place making a bad or bland dish. My wife and I had dinner at Creedence for my birthday. The restaurant is close to our house and we've been there a few times. I have a natural bias in favor of the place. First of all, it is a beautiful place inside. It is not too loud, which is very important to us. And I find that to be the mark of a classy establishment. When we entered, the Hostess and servers were wearing some type of a button which I asked about. And they told us that they had just been awarded the Michelin star for outstanding service in the state of Texas. Based on our experience, that award is well deserved. The service was absolutely top-notch. We had drinks which were quite good. I ordered the.Gimlet from their cocktail menu and it was outstanding. We then ordered the stuffed crab, which was very very good. Quite rich and decadent. I would highly recommend this dish. I did have to order some of the monkey bread to chop up all the leftover sauce. The monkey bread was serve served with a compound butter, which was quite good so I would recommend the monkey bread as well. The reason my rating is only four stars is that we ordered the Hofbrau steak dinner. And to be very honest, I did not find the meat to be anything special. And especially for the price. It was quite expensive. It was probably the most expensive piece of meat I've ever paid for. The twice baked potatoes were excellent. The sauces for the meat were delicious. But I just found the meat to be a bit tough. Since it was my birthday, they brought me a piece of chocolate devil's food cake, which was excellent. That wasn't enough for me so I also ordered the buttermilk soft serve, which was fantastic. I don't know if you can order the chocolate cake, but it was really good. So go for your birthday. And I guess I should also comment on the fact that I ordered a cup of coffee to have with my cake. And that coffee was outstanding also. It was so good. I asked the waiter where they got their coffee from and I learned that they are supplied by GEVA a local coffee roaster. And I just ordered four packages of different coffees from them. I think this place is fantastic. I would go back in a heartbeat. I just wouldn't order that Hofbrau dish. read more

I went to Credence for a friend's birthday brunch, and it was one of those meals that makes you start plotting your return before you've even left. The restaurant itself is gorgeous -- modern but warm, perfect for a celebration. Every single dish was excellent, but the deviled crabs stole the show. Perfectly seasoned, rich, and unforgettable. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the whole experience felt like a step above your typical brunch. I left telling myself, "Dinner here is next." Came here for my 30th birthday with some friends and everything was great. The restaurant is beautiful and the ambience is 10/10! It was also not busy at all. They have a valet service at the front or a couple of parking spots if you want to self park. Our waiter explained the menu pretty well and recommended a bunch of things for us to try. My absolute favorite thing were the stuffed crabs!!!! Do yourself a favor and try it. Also the crab fried rice was amazing. The drinks were pretty strong as well. Can't wait to come back! read more

Joined another couple for dinner here and loved everything about it! Right off the bat, the wood fire smells welcomed us and made us feel cozy and warm. Great atmosphere.. high ceilings and trendy decor made for easy conversation. The playlist was really good too focused on easy classic rock. Cool artwork too.
