My husband and I found Cremona's by accident about 3 years ago. We are members of Theatre 3 in the Quadrangle and like to have dinner before the play. Several of the restaurants that we frequented in that area all closed within a 2 month period and we happened upon Cremona's just across the street. Wow! We go there every chance we get. The food is awesome and we like to try something new each time. However, my husband is addicted to the crab legs and the garlic toast and so we always start with that. Besides the food, we come because of the owners, David and Sylvia, and their staff. We always feel like family and are greeted so warmly. Our date night is enhanced by our evening at Cremona's, and we now bring out-of-town guests, business clients, and friends to dinner whenever possible. Worst service ever! We waited for over an hour to get our food and 3 tables around D us who were larger parties and arrived at least 30 minutes after receives their dinners first. The waitress even brought us a to go container BEFORE our entrées arrived. Food was nothing special and even the manager was rude. Don't bother wasting your time or money here. read more

Went here this weekend for lunch. We were promptly greeted upon entering by one of the owners I believe. I was in the mood for traditional Italian, so I ordered a serving of lasagna with the addition of a meatball and the house salad. The lasagna was cooked perfectly and the meatball was nice and tender. Everything was seasoned well with basic seasoning without being over seasoned. The tomato basil vinaigrette for the salad was tasty but the salad was over dressed. Our waitress was friendly and accommodating. Overall, it was good basic Italian cuisine. read more

We had tickets to see a show at Theatre 3 and found this place nearby for dinner. Neither of us had heard of it before and didn't know what to expect. We really enjoyed it. The service was very good - attentive, not pushy, and helpful. My husband especially loved the fresh garlic bread served tableside. We each ordered the Baked Ravioli. The sauce was amazing! The food here is absolutely delicious and the wait staff is great. There was a small hiccup when charging our check and the manager more than made up for it on our next visit. We went on a weeknight and they weren't busy at all. I like the restaurant a lot, it's kind of dimly lit and romantic. The service was good. We ordered the cold antipasto, which was basically a salad with salami on top. It was good, but not worth it since the entrees come with a salad. The bread was very good. I had the baked ravioli, which was delicious. My bf had a veal dish that he didn't like AT ALL. And he is not a picky eater. So overall I would go back. Ordered delivery lunch today and ordered the Chicken alla Pana. This is the first time I have eaten this dish, anywhere. The dish came with 2 chicken breasts with sauteed spinach and mushrooms in a cream sauce. Included garlic bread and a house salad. The chicken breast was whole, not cut up. It has a nice thin sear on the outside and it was cooked perfectly! I always dread ordering chicken, because it always come out dry, but this place had it on point! The cream sauce was nice and smooth. Perfectly seasoned. The mushrooms were cut right, not too thick, not too thin. Spinach was also tasty. The spaghetti noodles were also cooked to perfection. Everything came together perfectly. The salad came with a house dressing, which was not great or bad. It was different. I believe it was an in house dressing. It was a thick dressing, almost like a dipping sauce. The garlic bread was very dense. Again, it was not great or bad. It was good. Would definitely recommend this place! read more

Had lunch with my wife and not under any time restraints. Food was very good, had the veal Marsala which was excellent. My wife had the manicotti which was also very good. Tried both the house creamy Italian and the tomato basil. Both were good though the Italian struck my as a smoky flavored Ranch. Since this was not a working lunch we had a carafe if the house Pinot Noir which was ok. Service was a little slow but the waiter was pleasant. Altogether we had 2 entrees, a carafe of house wine, a dessert and a capchinno for $65 read more

I wish I could say it was a nice dinner but I cannot. The calamari was dreadful and the cannelloni was filled with hambuger drenched in a sauce that needed some seasonings or something. I should have sent it back...but I'm not good at doing that. I will not be going back. read more

Service was poor. Was especially frustrating because we were one of three tables with patrons while we were there. Definitely recommend staying away from ordering a carafe - we did and noticed that it came only about half full of wine. When we tried to politely point this out, the waiter told us that carafes were only to be filled to that point...we tried explaining that there is a designated notch, but were pretty rudely rebuffed. Would've been nice had they admitted the mistake and moved on. Food was okay, but fairly generic italian for my tastes. I'm a fan of garlic and thought that my pasta was still over saturated with it. Went for lunch with a client. He loves the place. I liked the decor and the staff was friendly. Prices were reasonable. I ordered the risotto piscatore and although the shrimp, mussels and calimari were good the risotto was terrible. It was like puffed rice in sauce. I can't believe they would call that risotto. It wasn't. I will likely return but order something else. read more

HAIR IN OUR FOOD This is not the perfect little place for a date night. The owners curly gray/black hair was wrapped around my shrimp. NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The owner immediatley stated it wasn't her hair and she wasn't even in the kitchen. Guilty! She was so hateful and rude about the situation that we walked out. The setting alone is tacky. The artificial flowers covered in dust along with the white paper tablecloths and chistmas lights hung year round, make you want feel sticky and gross. The toast is nothing to write home about. It looks like texas toast from the freezer section of you local grocery store. Also, the numerous children in the kitchen and sitting at the bar eating could not be missed. The owner was arrogant and down right rude about the fact we would not be paying for the entree covered in her hair. She said it was at her discretion as to what we would and wouldn't pay for. I would never return to this NASTY restaurant nor would I ever recommend anyone to eat her. The health dept. should look further into these concerns. GROSS, gross place. NO telling what goes on in the kitchen. Don't take your guests here or yourself for that matter. The light of day will show all true colors. read more

We went with friends on Saturday early evening, wanting to try something Italian most of our party of seven had not experienced in Uptown. We had called ahead for reservations and were seated promptly at a nice table. No one in our party ordered appetizers or drinks, so we went straight to the entrees. Our server was pleasant, but not engaging whatsoever - your typical order taker. That was about as good as it gets. Overall, we were disappointed in our meals, starting with the bland "garlic" toast. Two friends had to send their chicken marsala back because it tasted "fishy", of all things. Others comments were "too cheesy" manicotti, to bland shrimp scampi and seafood risotto. The best dish was probably a simple spaghetti with sliced Italian sausage. We had to request fresh ground pepper and fresh grated parmesan. Overall, nice restaurant/atmosphere, but we were disappointed in the food, and the service was bad. We would not recommend this restaurant given all the other choices in Uptown and Knox/Henderson. read more

In 13 years of eating gluten free, I have never been to an Italian restaurant that offered more than 1-2 premade, frozen items. And most do not offer any GF pasta dishes. Tonight is the first time I was able to eat a pasta dish and almost anything else from the menu. I originally ordered the cioppino, but the sauce contains flour. Silvia, the manager offered to make me a different sauce from scratch to go with it instead. I declined and choose another dish instead. No regrets on the choice. And the shrimp that was added were large, delicious, and perfectly cooked. I admit, the GF pasta was not my favorite type, but I ate all of it anyway since the sauce was so delicious. My dinner companion kept commenting on how delicious the Minestrone soup was. He ate the garlic bread, and enjoyed it immensely as well. I loved the tomato basil salad dressing on very fresh lettuce. The waitress must have been new because she was confused and forgot a few things. But Silvia was wonderful. The restaurant itself was full of character and comfortable. We found the place by accident, and are looking forward to going back. read more
