I'm bummed to write this review because I wanted to love Crescent Bistro. Great location, decor, concept and menu offerings look great. We decided to order a couple items to share, then order more if desired. I was excited to try the jalapeno cheddar donuts after reading the rave reviews. The jalapeno cheddar donuts seemed overcooked and lacked flavor. We also ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito and it lacked flavor as well. Honestly, it was the most bland food I've had in awhile. I had to douse the breakfast burrito in hot sauce for it to have any flavor. We were still hungry but reluctant to order more food due to the above. I had my heart set on the smores ganache bar so we ordered that. It was delicious and a great surprise! I'm hoping it was an off day, but I won't be returning for food unfortunately...maybe dessert. read more

Went here on a Tuesday night. The atmosphere was nice, but that's about it. The kitchen was so so slow. Like 1.5 hours for two people with one appetizer, two entrees, and dessert. The dessert alone took almost 20 minutes to come out after ordering, there was only one other party at the restaurant as it was 8:15pm. I ordered a slice of bread pudding, so you know it's already made. Grilled flat iron steak was less than an appetizing. I ordered medium rare and it was cooked well on the outside and completely rare in the middle. Syrah was good, brussel sprouts were good. Fried chicken was decent, the housemade hot sauce was not good at all. Surprised that could be messed up. Pretty disappointing. Won't be back sadly, even though we really try to support downtown PH businesses. Even if the food WAS good (it's not) the service is way way too slow. read more

Really wanted to like this place, but the food was very disappointing. We ordered the Asian pear spinach salad with shrimp, tempura green beans, and the bistro burger. The Asian pear salad was just a bed of spinach with four slices of pear and a sprinkle of cheese. We added shrimp to our order and it came with 4 pieces of shrimp- overall the salad was extremely small, underwhelming, and not very flavorful. It looked more like a side salad than an entree. The tempura green beans were tasty and crispy. It came with two sauces- a ginger soy sauce and a miso sauce. The ginger sauce was tasty but the miso sauce tasted a bit off (sour) so we didn't touch it just in case it went bad. The bistro burger was a standard burger, it was tasty. The fries were a bit limp and the pickle that came with it had a slight film over it so I didn't touch that either. I hope it was just an off day. But maybe because of egg shortage, omelet was made with powdered or some kind of food service liquid eggs. This bistro was so charming and quaint! Went here to meet up with a girlfriend for lunch. Staff was friendly and food and service were excellent! I ordered a pear spinach salad and my girlfriend had the breakfast sandwich. I also got a non-alcoholic pomegranate spritzer drink which was tasty and refreshing! The salad was excellent and they let me substitute the feta cheese with goat cheese. All in all it was so delicious and such a cute ambiance. Definitely recommend this place! This was my 2nd time at this restaurant. I was telling my husband about the quality of the meat on the Cuban Pork Sandwich, so I thought I would bring him this time. We came in on Sunday and were given the brunch menu that did not include the Cuban Pork Sandwich to his disappointment. We asked the server if the other lunch menu was available. Although it wasn't, they made an exception for my husband, which we really appreciated. The pork was tender and cooked to perfection. I ordered the Fried Chicken and Waffles. Amazing! The chicken was tender on the inside, seasoned well, crispy on the outside. The batter on the chicken was not heavy. It paired so nicely with the waffle with bourbon pecan butter and maple syrup. Came here last Saturday around 1PM. Place was steady but not crazy. 10 minute wait to get sat, no problem. Sat at an outside table for well over 20 minutes and were never greeted by a server. 2 different servers walked by multiple times but never greeted us or took any kind of an order. This place is really cute. The menu is so phenomenal I actually went there for lunch then returned for dinner. I've also been recommending it to friends and colleagues. Creative entrees, light foods, and comfort foods, nice cocktail menu. Basically something for everyone. Jalapeño doughnuts could definitely use a little more kick and maybe pair with a fruit raspberry type option in addition to the aioli, but they're different which is fun. Awesome restaurant with a terrific menu. Friendly staff that helped us decide what to order. I have eaten her before and the food is always good. Sunday October 5 was horrible service. We waited over an hour to get our food and they kept forgetting our drinks. There were 5 of us. Came here twice. First time for Sunday brunch and the server was new but provided great service. 2nd time, it was lunch on a weekday and only one server so service was very slow. I had the Bistro Salad both times. First time was very flavorful and loved all the fresh & tasty ingredients: roasted cauliflower, roasted peppers, quinoa, arugula, avocado & feta cheese. I was really struggling with this review trying to be honest but not wanting to be too negative. It's probably closer to 3.5 stars. Maybe I'll have to give it another try and had an off first try. They describe this place as "upscale with hospitality driven". And I wouldn't say that so much. It's nice and quaint. But the tables are so close together I could practically eat off my neighbors plate. Also so close that everyone's shouting over one another cuz you can't hear your friend talking. And then I think our gentleman server was a little lit. No judge but when I have to ask you multiple times for things and you forget or never come back and I gotta ask your coworkers instead then I get a little pissy. On top of it our order gets messed up. Granted we got to keep the dessert we didn't even order. I'll break down the things we ordered: Mocktail pomegranate ginger spritz - very gingery so if you like ginger or got hight blood pressure then drink up Jalapeño cheddar donuts - not sure why they're called donuts. Should've been called hush puppies with a soggy gooey center. Good flavor but kinda weird. I didn't finish and left those behind. Tempura green beans - fantastic. Perfectly crisp and I liked the dipping sauces Pork belly buns - usually my favorite but these didn't impress me. Too saucy and scraped a lot of the sauce off which was very tangy and pickled. Beet salad - excellent, can't go wrong with that. Wild mushroom risotto - probably my most favorite dish we had. Lots of variety of mushrooms. Crème brûlée - very good Apple bread pudding - almost too mushy, not crazy about the goopy texture Butterscotch pot de crème - we got this by mistake and thought it was the bread pudding we ordered so initially I didn't know what I was eating. When I was thinking it was the bread pudding I thought it was kinda gross but then when I found out what it really was I appreciated for what it was. It had a sweet and savory taste to it. So, I've wanted to try this restaurant for a while, but I didn't want to go alone, and last night was a perfect opportunity to treat my mother. The menu looks phenomenal online. So, I called a few days ahead to ask if I even need reservations on a Wednesday night at five. This is not a typical time that you would ever need reservations at most restaurants. The restaurant is medium size maybe 10 tables inside, a bar, and they also have outdoor dining, but it was raining tonight. When I called to inquire if I need to make a reservation, the lady said, why not and put me down. They do have a system to make reservations online as well. The lady put me down under the wrong name. Which should've been totally fine because the restaurant in the 90 minutes we were there was never completely full. But, the staff was definitely overwhelmed with the amount of clientele they had. I felt like we were consistently neglected. And the hostess made a big deal if people came in without a reservation. It was very perplexing. He kind of was arguing with me that I didn't have a reservation. I was like but I called ,the lady took my name for 5 PM, asked for a phone number. It was a really weird situation. The decor of this restaurant is stunning. I ordered a spinach salad with bacon, hazelnuts, persimmon. It was delicious, but it seemed like a very small portion. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture. It took a long time to get any weight staff to help us. We had a reservation at the Spa next-door and I was getting worried that food would take too long so we ordered less food then we initially wanted. I also thought they had a happy hour thing, but I guess they didn't when we went and food was good so it was worth the price, so I'm not totally complaining on that . I got a non-alcoholic pomegranate juice with ginger syrup. I love that they had some housemaid creative drinks. Especially nonalcoholic drinks. So extra stars for that. For my entrée I was disappointed unfortunately. I got the butternut squash risotto. It tasted fine, but I thought there'd be way more butternut squash in it. It also would've been cool if you could've done a side of some type of protein with it My mother had the short rib with vegetables, and it was so delicious . I would highly recommend this dish. We shared the desert of the ricotta beignets, which had a banana and caramel sauce on top. These were delicious and a large quantity so we brought some home. I'd like to keep an open mind so I would recommend this restaurant but my tips would be to make an online reservation, do not come here if you are in a hurry, and maybe ask the staff what are the top sellers. It's definitely more of a date night spot. They did seem to treat a family with young children, oddly as well. By setting them in a odd corner table in a back area when there were available tables upfront. So maybe the restaurant is not trying to cater to families. read more

There were 2 of us and we tried the Cuban Sandwich, Portobello mushroom sandwich and shared a large devil's eggs appetizer. Everything about the food was bland, very normal, eatable, clean ... nothing exciting and a bit boring honestly. My portobello mushroom sandwich was layered with some fried zucchini, arugula, roasted red peppers ... looked appetizing but everything l simply lacked flavor. A simple added stash of salt + pepper would have made it so much better ... and I normally eat on the blander side. The Cuban sandwich .. again - was very bland with cheese, ham, mustard, and some roasted red peppers. Flavors mixed well but there are no sophistication to he sandwiches' flavors... even a local Subway could be more exciting with their sauces. Devil's eggs were noticeably premade (normal) but stayed in the fridge perhaps a bit or a day too long... tastes ok but a tad not fresh. Overall an all around "meh-ok" for all food dishes. Some highlights for us: Grilled Flat Iron Steak (juicy and savory with a nice croquette and sautéed spinach) Mushroom Gnocchi (soft potato pasta with sausage and slightly spicy sauce) Pork Belly Buns (a fusion twist: a slice of pork belly with sweet and spicy sauce and fresh pickles on a super soft bao bun) Mac and Cheese (cheesy and saucy with perfectly cooked noodles) Pear and Spinach Salad (fresh and crisp with lots of texture and balance) Red Wine Braised Short Rib (perfect comfort food) Cured Salmon Deviled Eggs (a very good deviled egg extra flavor from the salmon plus a really good kick of spice) We're slowly working our way through the menu but there are things we love so much we constantly order them instead of trying new things. When I went to this place last time my buddy raves about this place he said he always orders the pork belly bun . I said if I ever go back this what I am ordering. No problem parking on a Tuesday afternoon. Five of us met there for lunch. Pretty open place, with sparse crowd. We shared a Burrata appetizer, followed by burgers for all. The patties were the right size for lunch, and we all finished our meals! We ordered different fries and salads and they were all great.
