Crest cafe has the most delicious green (cilantro?) sauce in the world. It's spicy, but it's worth it, their wraps are so good. Simple, but so tasty! The workers are also very nice, they always thank you for your business and get the food out to you as quick as they can. I recommend basically almost anything on the menu, haha. YUM! I had the Lamb Gyro Wrap, and the seasoned meat definitely hit the spot and satisfied my Greek food craving. I've tried a fair number of Greek/Mediterranean foods around the Bay Area, and very few places were able to satisfy my craving. The wrap comes with some sauce and has lettuce inside. Most of the ingredients used are what I eat on a usual basis--form of yams, green beans, chicken, variety of legumes. All very familiar to me. This is my first visit. This is my fourth dining experience at the Crest. Since I work within blocks of this place and don't really have many healthy choices I end up here when I don't know where to eat. The prices are a little high for a place thats ran like a fast food joint. Maybe they are high due to the fact there are always coupons in News and Review and the Entertainment book. not bad the menu's a little confusing as they have like 4 things in 3 different sections of the big overhead menu that all seem the same. -and im not a big fancy pants looking for authentic blahblahblah - i was looking for an f-ing lamb gyro... after a bit of explaining - that honestly all sounded the same i got my lamb gyro - and it was tasty - well sized - plenty of meat. i will say - the baklava (however you spell it) was one of the more tasty ones i've had in a long time - i think i tasted honey and maybe pistachio? i don't know - i wish i had more though - they were great. the place seems to have an identity crisis though - seems like they cant make up their mind if they want to be a restaurant or a cafe. Hidden next to the Crest Theatre, the Cafe is a true stand out for its wonderful assortment of Meditterrean food and kind service. They have an all you can eat buffet for lunch which really contains just about everything one could possibly want with the exception of kabobs and falafel. They have that on the main menu but in every other way this buffet really provides you with your money's worth. I thought the $10.75 price was a little steep but after a few trips you realize you are more than getting your money's worth. They also have CNN on which you know caters to the politicos that are nearby. If I had to live or work here, I would be here often and it is definitely on my to stop in on next visits list now. read more

I know folks are back and forth on this place; I have many friends who love it and others who think otherwise. I happen to think it's delicious, and it's a nice alternative to all the La Bou-like deli places and Pyramid Ale House (awful food, i.m.o.) that are in this area. Crest cafe is one of the only places on K Street that I will frequent right now (though they ARE starting to step up the game, with creperies, etc). Stopped by for lunch. They had NO cold water, only hot water. It was 95 outside. I filled a cup with ice then filled it with hot water and waited. I ask if they had lemon. The waiter was stunned and hurried to ask the manager what to do. He returned with a sliced lemon which was fresh. The ice was melted but the water was cool. Tried Crest Cafe for the first time when they delivered free meals to "feed the frontline". This was such a pleasant surprise especially during the first few weeks of the pandemic. The food was a-mazziiing! I don't typically eat Mediterranean/Greek food however the few places I've eaten especially Crest Cafe have been the best. The hummus flatbread is literally heaven in your mouth and the pita nachos?! Need I say more?! Seriously go try it out for yourself. Very large servings and reasonable prices! read more

haaaaaaa...(me breathing on you)....do you smell that? That's the remnants of my meal ordered from Crest Cafe. It's all the garlic I had from the sauces but oh man, it was good. I ordered the cucumber feta chicken. They give you two pieces of chicken covered and I mean blanketed in feta and sauce. It also comes with a greek salad as well as hummus and pita bread slices. It's pretty filling. I didn't really like my greek salad salad dressing. It was bit too vinegary for me. It almost made me feel like sneezing to the point of no control and you don't want me to be sneezing salad all over the place. The prices are pretty expensive for lunch but then again they give you a lot. If I'm going order from here again I think I'll skip the salad or not add the dressing. It's a pretty good place to order lunch but there are cheaper alternatives and you'll still get full. At least I can say I tried it at least once. read more

I love this place. Great food on the cheap and right next to work for that matter. I probably go once or twice a month. The portions are huge. For seven bucks, you get a ridiculously large and delicious Greek salad. For a couple more, you get the awesome cucumber feta. Absolutely MIND-BLOWING. The food comes out quick and the staff is always super friendly. If these folks moved to Greece, no one would be rioting. That's how freaking good the food is (for the price). What happened to this place? Wow. I just paid $9.71 for a Beef Shawarma Wrap that was practically ALL lettuce inside. Had I eaten there I would have asked them to fix it, but I brought it back to my office. What a disappointment, when I kept biting into nothing but lettuce with small pieces of beef here and there. I tried the lunch buffet. I guess the day we went there was not much selection. Few of my co-workers go there every week. They love the buffet area and they suggested me to get their $10.99 deal (all you can eat) with comes with the drink. From the buffet area, I liked the eggplant, chicken curry only. As I waited for Kelly to arrive at her light rail stop, I decided to try this place out. Kelly is very particular about her food choices, so when she told me that this place is good and it is not Asian/American/French cuisine, I HAD TO TRY IT OUT!! I was not very hungry and just wanted to get a taste of the food. The chicken kabob was recommended by Kelly, so I picked that. The lady helping me out was so nice. She recommended popular items and made suggestions based on my hunger level. I order a small chicken kabob meal and in hindsight, wished I ordered a whole meal. As Kelly and I devour the small order on the light rail like a pack of hungry wolves, I couldn't stop thinking about how flavorful the chicken was and how it went so well with the rice. It came with 3 dipping sauce and my favorite was the spicy green one. Just writing this review makes me salivate. For a weekday lunch, this place is great. Fast and affordable. It gets very crowded around noon. What I love about this place is how fresh it tastes. The salads are huge with great-looking lettuce and toppings. No brown or wilt-y lettuce pieces at all. The falafel pita and Gyro pita sandwiches are super yummy and filling for less than $8! This was my first time at Crest Cafe per a friend's recommendation and I was not disappointed! My boyfriend and I ordered the Mediterranean nachos, Mediterranean fries, as well as the Chicken kabob wraps. The Mediterranean nachos are a MUST HAVE if you ever decide to come here. The chips are so unique and the sauces are so flavorful. We devoured these in minutes and could not stop raving about them. The Chicken kabob wraps were also delicious, with perfectly marinated chicken that paired really well with the fries and their special green sauce. Overall, the food was absolutely delicious and I wouldn't hesitate to come here again. The atmosphere was pleasant and warm and the staff was very welcoming. Food 3, service 2; I'll round up since it's an independent place and I've only been once. My quest for really good food on my occasional visits to Sacramento continues to be fruitless. I kvetch about the prices in San Francisco, but maybe you get what you pay for. I would really think the state capitol of the world's seventh largest economy would have better variety and quality near the seat of government. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places. Anyway, of the various uninspiring options on my usual route between the Convention Center and the Train station, I decided to try Crest Cafe because its ambiance and menu looked attractive for a to-go meal. But every question I asked of the cashier: "What's in a fetoush salad" "Can I get a side salad with panini?" was met with utter confusion. Ultimately, I got what I wanted - a grilled eggplant sandwich (really, it wasn't a panini - served on a bread that was a cross between a ciabatta and a plain old hamburger bun) and a Greek salad. The salad, punctuated with feta and pita, was tasty and fresh but small for a $4 side. The sandwich was good - what's not to like about grilled eggplant and cheese? - but a little monotonous in texture and taste. Overall a satisfying but not amazing meal for $12. I won't be back, though, because of the very muddled service. There were no other customers waiting yet it seemed to take the staff of 3 people 10 minutes to assemble my meal. This was partly due to making it to order, but I could hear some bickering contributing to the delay - although the staff was very courteous to the customers. Since I had 20 minutes to make it to the train, this was not reassuring. Overall, this place would be fine for lunch, but I'm just going to keep on searchin' for that gem in downtown. read more

I go here about every 3 weeks for an affordable, healthy, and delicious lunch. I've had the chicken sumac, eggplant, gyro, and falafel. All these are offered as wraps, which are good, but the pitas are even better. The pitas don't seem to be made in house, but when they are that good I don't really care where they come from, just don't change vendors! And if they are made in house, nicely done! Probably the best pita bread I've ever had. The staff is friendly and work very quickly, even with as crowded as it gets during a work week lunch hour. I got the Crest Greek Salad with chicken and a bottled ice tea. After spending $13 I was so disappointed in my first experience here. It was slow, yet it took 15 minutes to receive my salad to go. I had to walk up to the counter and ask where it was. When I got back to my office I found I spent the money for a really sad excuse for a salad. All it had was romaine, tomatoes, chicken and dressing. No feta, no onions, no olives. I honestly just felt ripped off. Luckily the dressing was full of garlic and delicious. Had an excellent experience at Crest Cafe. We had a event at the restaurant for over 60 students and they were very accommodating. Had been in contact with Monira the few days prior about the number of attendees going up and they were very understanding. The food was so good, everyone at the event really enjoyed it and definitely went for second. The nachos and fries are to die for! Had done the same event the previous year with half the amount of people and they did just as an amazing job making arrangements both times. They were even nice enough to let us stay a little longer since we were having such a good time.
