I have been here twice with my wife. The first time was good me and my wife enjoyed our dinner here. We had an older lady attend to us with a warm smile and what looked like a genuine happiness for us to be there. Like I said before the first time was overall a great experience. This second time, I don't think I have ever been ligitamitly mad at a restaurant. ( I have worked in a restaurant for over 3 years so I know how everything can go wrong. I know how one mistake can cause a domino effect from there on and it's never just one person's fault. I know I can't judge a place just on one employees work.) That being said this second time we were here we went to the bar again, it was a little busy so we had to get one of the bartenders attention to get a menu. No big deal I know how it is, once me and my wife decide on what to drink we grab his attention again. I tell him I want (X) beer, with the most annoyed face he says (we don't have that beer and I can I see y'alls ID). My wife proceeded to order hers and I make a quick choice in order not to bother him again. Close or tab and enjoy our beers on their balcony. We half way finish our beers and we decide to go back in at the bar. ( We are slow drinkers so by now there's only a hand full of people at the bar.) We sat on another side of the bar where the previous bartender who had us was not at in order to avoid his negativity. It's somewhat dead now and we again still have to get the attention of a new bartender for a food menu. We decide what we want and by this time I have finished my beer and my wife has a quarter left of hers. I place my EMPTY glass forwered, 10 min go by not one of the FOUR bartenders says anything to us. I gave up at this point not only was there an empty glass in front of me at the bar but also a closed menu in front of us and not one of them approached us. They were just chatting among themselves and one of them was doing there job and the other just talking to his friends that came in. We just got up and left to go eat somewhere else. I have never experienced this in my life of eating out. I'm haven't been mad at a restaurant before as I know there's more than one piece to the puzzle. This time they really had no excuse or reason. This isn't a bad place to go if you're looking for draft beer or to overpay for pool. Although they don't clean the lines real great between batches so some of the flavors get muddy. The bar staff is great! Always friendly and helpful. The dinning area wait staff is the opposite. Had the rudest waitress who practically acted insulted when I asked for a refill on my drink. I ordered the peanut butter bacon burger for my meal and added half and half fries (half regular, half sweet potato). When my burger came out the bacon was very underdone and slimy. After eating 4 bites of my burger (now minus the bacon) I get closer to the middle and realize the burger is extremely under done. On top of this the fries came out cold. After informing the waitress about this, she give me a huge attitude and acted super bitchy about having to get the manager to take it off the ticket. Being annoyed with the whole situation and her attitude like it was my fault that my food was terrible, I just paid for everything and left. This was by far the worst customer service we have ever received. Our waiter was rude and unprofessional. Our order wasn't right, and the appetizer of wings he brought out were burned and had no meat on them. We finally asked to speak to a manager and he blew us off and basically told us we got what we got. If I could leave zero Stars I would. My friend got a very simple Caesar salad. The salad came completely over dressed to the point where it was inedible. The parmesan croutons were stale, and the bread croutons were also stale. And not good stale- bad, disgusting stale. I got their brisket burger which sounded delicious. But in practice it was fairly, you guessed it, disgusting. The burger was absolutely dry, flavorless and overcooked. The brisket, while tender, had no flavoring on it either. The muster and serve with the burger did little to remedy the problem. Also, the waitress was inattentive and more focused on tables that were buying drinks . Crickets has always been the place where We would go on a weekday night and get good food. Eventually, we discovered that they also had a trivia night which soon became a tradition. The best thing about Wednesday nights was not only the trivia and the loveable asshole of a host but also the two dollar burgers which they just got rid of unfortunately. The whole place has a great atmosphere n all but why would you get rid of the burgers?! Why?! It was the only thing on the menu that was actually good. Yeah you have a good crickets burger but let's be honest, it ain't worth $8. they need to bring the $2burgers back. I know a lot of people that were disappointed when they found out hey had gotten rid of them. Besides the large selection of beers, it was one of the main reasons we had gone every Wednesday for the past two and a half years. It's sad the way you can see a business deteriorate solely because of the actions of management. I give it a three star for food that always tastes good and previously mentioned rockstar bartender We are regular customers and have seen changes that destroy the experience as well as staffing choices that make customers wonder what is going on. - the 100+ taps were previously identified on tv screens above the bar to help the constant rotation of customers identify types of beer they like but also to help the bartenders identify the number and tap location quickly. The beer lists have recently been removed from the tv monitors and replaced with gimicky drinks that don't represent them as an actual draft house. Management also doesn't provide updated draft lists/menus for customers to reference. - most management doesn't listen to or respect the opinions of the people that are actually busting their ass every time they show up to work. They don't purchase enough staple supplies for the bartenders to do their job and then give them a hard time for not doing the job as expected. - some management can be seen texting on the phones while barking at the staff to work harder, and some management has been seen drinking at their own establishment during business hours. - suggestions for improvement, business ideas, and even process adjustments to assist the staff work smarter have been shot down without discussion. And personally my biggest complaint is that during a recent Saturday night visit where we had a tall bartender pour our beers using our mug club mugs... we found fruit flies floating at the surface. At first I was okay picking one or two out of two beers, but when I swallowed some I decided to speak up. The bartender informed us that he doesn't rinse out the mugs before pouring beers, even though they sit along a high shelf with the mouths facing up. Yuck. Luckily another bartender thoroughly rinsed our mugs and poured us new beers. Management needs to open their eyes. This is a great location for a great business, but it can't thrive without a hardworking respected staff that is enabled to do their jobs. read more

I have given a review prior to this one of my experience however, my thoughts have changed after the evening I had at Crickets. Our waitress Patricia was prompt, friendly and polite. I ordered a Fried Chicken Ranch burger and my roommate ordered chicken tenders. Both were good and ordered exactly as we asked. The drinks (both alcoholic) were strong, and satisfying. The management really took the time to listen to my request as I had suggested and got that I am grateful. Very casual place t meet for drinks and snacks or a light dinner. I had the honey mustard chicken sandwich on Texas toast with a side of classic fries. The service was quick and helpful and the food arrived fast. The sandwich was very good. The order of fries was enormous, so I shared them and we still only got through half the basket. A friend ordered the breakfast taco and a Texas torpedo. The breakfast taco was deemed to be the better of the two. Really nothing to criticize about the food or service. We did have a little trouble finding the place because the outside signage is so high up on the wall of the building, that we couldn't see it as we circled the block several times in the car. This is probably the 4th or 5th time she has been my server and this girl goes above and beyond to make your experience at Crickets amazing! She's efficient and attentive and so friendly. But she doesn't hover and annoy her customers. She can handle a full seating schedule PLUS help her coworkers. Tey is the best - and Crickets needs more servers of her caliber!!!! I was staying across the street at the hotel for business and used Yelp to find Crickets. I ate there twice during my stay. I have to say everything I had there was delicious! Onion rings were some of the best I have had, pimento cheese burger was a fantastic change of pace from a regular cheeseburger and don't get me started on the loaded french fries! The loaded french fries had the perfect amount of cheese and toppings plus what it was served in helped keep the cheese melty. The chicken skewers I had for lunch were fantastic. And one can't go with out saying how outstanding their beer selection is! Really enjoyed the ability to order a flight of beer or have a small taste before ordering. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, I was able to speak with the manager Tina and she was fantastic! Will be recommending any friends who visit the area to pop by and check Cricket's out! read more

A very impressive amount of draft beer on tap. The menu choices went far beyond typical bar fare. My husband enjoyed Greek chicken skewers and I got the honey mustard grilled chicken sandwich. Only negative is that the sandwich doesn't come with any side, and the waitress made it seem like it did. I was asked if I wanted fries, sweet potato fries or a mix, then at the end of the meal charged extra for my "side". Need to be more clear on that! read more

We came for dinner early on a Saturday night- it was pretty slow when we came in. We were sat right away by a host who seemed pretty lost. Our table was behind the soda fountain which was fine. Not one staff member approached us for nearly 15 minutes which would have been okay if it was busy, but absurd for how slow it was. Not only did our server not stop at our table, he walked by 3 or 4 times. After going to the host and asking for our server, we were finally greeted and given drinks. We ordered food and the waiter had given us the smaller order of fries (to split between two people which I said when I ordered). He corrected the order after ignoring us for about 15 mins. And comped the smaller order. We waited another 25 mins for the correct fries. Food was great but the service was a bit shotty. Maybe we will have more luck next time. read more

The food was a bit cold and the service was sub par. I joined the table after my friends and was never offered a drink. The server is didn't seem too informed or helpful when it came to ordering. My order came out wrong and let him know it was sirracha mayo instead of regular, then he argued with me it was although it was not white. I've been eating at Cricket's on and off since I graduated from Baylor in 1998. For the longest time, everything has been great, and it's the reason I always make it a point to stop off there whenever I'm in town. Times have changed I guess. The long & short of it: the food was bland (made of the cheapest ingredients that would make a fast food restaurant blush) and the service non-existent. Hint to the servers: know what beers you have, and have recommendations. All our server did when she was at the table (which was a rarity) was point to the mostly disintegrated paper beer menu and offer a lot of 'I don't knows', and 'I can check'. She never did. I ended up settling for a Vodka Sour that was mostly just sour. My girlfriend's cheese burger consisted of a low grade 1/4 pound patty, cheap sesame bun, and the finest shredded lettuce out of a bag. Oh, and no fries. Maybe I should have gone to Cricket's Facebook page where they have a picture of it to view in all it's "glory". If we had seen that first, we probably wouldn't have ordered it. The burgers use to be really good; I'm not sure why they felt the need to cheapen the ingredients. Definitely disappointed. My chicken fingers were OK, but there were like 6 french fries that came with it. They employed the old tactic of using a wedge shaped basket for the meal. This gives the illusion of size, while not offering up that much food. It was so little food, that we ordered Onion Rings and a desert. The desert never came. The $5 order of onion rings consisted of 1 large ring, two smaller ones, and 3 non-existent morsels. I guess I didn't realize they charge per ring. They were covered in a bland batter that dwarfed to onion ring inside, and only solved my hunger by making my stomach unsettled. Even the menu has been cheapened. I was able to bring up their old menu's online, and you see a variety of dishes, including pastas, Pizza's, and other items. From what I can tell, the variety is gone, and they've cheapened all the items that remain. I don't know if there are new owners, or new management, but this is DEFINITELY not the place I use to know and love. read more

Been coming to Cricket's Bar & Grill for Gobs & Gobs of years. We sometimes stop on our way to Austin. Typical Sports Bar w/ a HUGANTIC selection of Beer On Tap! Good Bar food...I like the Burger...the Steak Fajitia Nachos are yummy.....Queso is NO "Bob" , but, it's good....Atmosphere is cool. Overall, I like it. Located right across from the Hilton my family was staying at, we decided to give Crickets a try. The beer selection was very good and the onion rings were great! However the main courses were disappointing. I had the chicken fried rice and the rice was not fully cooked. My mother had the brisket quesadilla, which was ok but had only a tiny amount of brisket on it. The other food items were sub par as well. Also, they don't have a changing table in the men's bathroom which is a huge inconvenience for our family. I wouldn't mind coming here for a beer, but would not recommend the dining as they are better options in the area. read more
