So good! The family is obsessed. New weekly flavors keeps it fun. My favorite has to be the Brownie Royale. Definitely try if you're a chocolate lover. The Kit Kats on top are perfect for that added crunch. The cone itself isn't actually crispy; it's more of a soft bread. The lines have definitely died down from when they first opened so the wait isn't too bad!
Back in July 17th, I went to check out this place since I was in the area. After a hot day visiting a nearby place, I wanted to see the hype. Unfortunately, overall it was ok. I came in and wasn't really greeted. No one asked if it was my 1st time so I had no idea that I had to order on the kiosk. When I got the Chocolate Dubai special, I've definitely had better flavored ice cream. It was pricey for me. The guy who handed me my treat was the only one that said something.

Went here after going to Gonzo and the line wasn't too bad compared to other ice cream places in Carlsbad. Very clean and bright inside and everyone was patient which is important. Friend ordered the salted caramel and vanilla swirl and it was massive. Everyone said the cone was the star of the show and wanted more cone. Walked to the beach afterwards and made for a perfect evening out.
This is such a cool idea! The service was great, the young man and woman working the counter were so friendly and working so hard. Was nice to be able to order yourself on the touch screen, which is what we did. But looked like you could also order through the counter. So cool to be able to watch them make your cone, very creative. I would go back just for the experience but personally, wasn't a HUGE fan of the actual crispy cone. It wasn't crispy or crunchy like i was expecting, more of a funnel cake type texture. The ice cream was pretty good.
2.5 stars I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. So I took my mom here and it was a big miss for all of us. I don't think this place is for me. It's just regular soft serve ice cream. The big thing is their cones. Which were ok. You pay extra for add on's. Which is ok. But you can count how many bananas and strawberries you got. Which is crazy. The ordering is very confusing. And that's why the line is out the door. Everyone is waiting to put their own order in, which takes forever. Especially if you've never been here before. And I found it to be very confusing. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back.
Crispy Cone was the perfect treat! We stopped by on a Friday night, and even though it was busy, the staff kept things moving and the line went faster than I expected. The cone itself was great, the sugar dough was SO GOOD... The soft serve was delicious and paired perfectly with it. Heads up, this place gets busy during the summer. You can walk in and see the staff working hard and doing their best to keep things moving, so a little patience goes a long way! My only suggestion would be to add a few more topping options. Other than that, we had a great experience and will definitely be back.
SOFT SERVE IN A CRONUT (3 stars) - TREAT: ok - PRICE: meh - SERVICE: great - AMBIANCE: small like a shoebox (nowhere to sit) I was so pumped to come here only to have much higher expectations than the reality of it. Was it worth the drive to Carlsbad from San Diego while these gas prices are ridiculously, no. If in the area is it worth getting in line for, yes. COCOA BERRY ($10) - Nutella Drizzle, Strawberries, Vanilla Ice Cream, Nutella Spread, Traditional Cone. I asked for light Nutella drizzle because normal can be too much. Vanilla Ice Cream is actually soft server. The "crispy cone" is a cronut with a hallow middle, and the strawberries were bright red but not very sweet. The hype of excitement dwindled down when I saw what this really was... cronut filled with soft serve. The cone aka crunot wasn't crispy as you imagine a typical waffle cone crispy is... it was like a crunch donut. They filled the walls of the cronut with Nutella and then start piping it with soft server and place strawberries and drizzle chocolate on top. I enjoyed my cold treat on a hot day and didn't complain. AND felt the 780 calories wasn't worth it. Until the next review....
What a unique dessert experience in Carlsbad ! Service was quick, considering how long the line was. You place your order at the kiosk and wait near the entrance for your name to be called. The soft serve is delicious and complements the sugared dough cone perfectly. It gets a little drippy and can be a challenge to eat, but the plastic cup it's served in helps catch escaped toppings and melted soft serve that drips out of the bottom of the baked cone. Unfortunately, there isn't seating, aside for a bench in front, and this really is a treat that is best enjoyed while sitting down (especially since it can be quite messy!). While it is a bit pricey, I think the quality and quantity aligns with the price point of the novelty dessert, considering the location of the shop as well.

The ice cream and toppings were the perfect combo and not overly sweet. Such a cute little spot with great service too! Definitely worth the hype and I'll 100% be coming back next time I'm in San Diego
Waited in line... and it was worth the wait. Don't let the "soft serve" fool you- it is a thick and rich ice cream, almost custard like. I got the chocolate Dubai cone and it was so good, that I came back the next day for one. Cones are made right before your eyes. A yummy croissant style cone with crystallized sugars on the outside. They then shmear the inside with sauce, dip the cone top in crunchy Dubai topping, then fill the cone with ice cream. Top that with pistachios, drizzled chocolate syrup and Dubai sauce. Yummy!

I proceeded down the line and watched the process. It was fun watching them make the pastry cones and then roll them in sugar. I got the cookie butter spread pastry cone. It had a lot of flavor and was so filling I could barely finish it. Parking can be a challenge but it depends on when you go. Otherwise, it's a nice dessert spot anytime!

This is such a cool idea! The service was great, the young man and woman working the counter were so friendly and working so hard. You walk in advance thr menu is on back wall on TV or they have aome on cashier Seevice..friendly and fast Food..amazing idea..so many choices and a little confusing. They have 2 diff cones..one special and regular..choose the spread..the ice cream flavor..toppings and sauce too. The cone was so soft and not hard..easy to pull apart. Staff was welcoming on a Sunday afternoon. Quick service and fair price. We had the cocoa berry and it was good. Its nice you can see them making the bread cone. Also nice that they have wet wipes available because it can get sticky when it melts. read more

The ice cream is quite sweet, so I personally wouldn't be able to eat it often because it's a bit too sweet for my taste. As for the ice cream and cone, the price is somewhat high compared to the general market. I understand that the beach location may be the reason for the higher prices. The shop is beautiful, clean, and not very big. All the staff are very sweet and friendly to customers. Parking can be a bit difficult since it's located near the beach. Had pizza down the street so decided to try this for dessert. I had heard good things but yelp definitely has some mixed reviews. My experience was 5 stars all around from the staff to the ice cream . The menu on the wall is pretty self explanatory and the brownie royale looked so good . Little pricey but for the experience it was good . Everything about it was great but what really set it apart was the cinnamon sugar cone. I was shocked at how good this taste , I literally could have eaten just that with no ice cream and enjoyed it thoroughly. It was so soft and it was so good !! I wonder if it's possible if I could just order the cone itself lol. I'll be back for that cone , don't you worry! read more
These cones reminded us of the cones we had in Europe, fresh baked and topping around the side. Soft serve on top of filling in your cone. This was too much though, would love smaller size options. Delicious and infinite options for flavor combinations! Additionally the location is beautiful right in the heart of town with the ocean just around the corner. read more

Saw this place posted all over Instagram and tik tok so I decided to try it out. I was quite shocked at the prices of the items here. The crispy cone - what this place is known for - goes for $10. It is a unique product of the store but I wasn't expecting this price. I personally don't think this food item has very good value. The crispy cone altogether was large in portion size but the soft serve was nothing to write home about. It is less creamy than Costco soft serve for context (and you get less than Costco as well). The cone itself was tasty but nothing particularly special and I wish the cone would've been flakier. I think grabbing some ice cream and a churro at a local spot would be a delicious cheaper alternative. The toppings were just standard ice cream shop toppings. I felt like they did skimp a little bit on the toppings which can be seen in the photos. The employees were nice. It took a while for each item to be made probably because each crispy cone requires a lot of assembly. I do also wish that there was a space inside or outside to sit and enjoy the treat but it's more like a grab and go type of place. Overall, I didn't think the crispy cone and ice cream were good enough to justify the price. I don't think I would come back. read more

Secret spot me and the guys went to. Service was really chill and the employees seemed happy to be there. Ambiance is nice and nothing short of a new trending spot. Soft serve was fantastic, a nice combination that I personally have never had before but it reminds me of Somi Somi if it were non-Asian. The soft serve is creamy and smooth but the cone was pretty bad. It was supposed to be the star of the show but it really just left me confused. Maybe we came during an off time so they weren't fresh, but the cone was neither hot nor crispy, or anything really. There were no redeeming qualities. It was just like biting into a stale, hard, and dense slice of white bread. There was some cinnamon sugar around it but it didn't really add much to it. After our first bite of the cone we were pretty appalled, and had to go in for a 2nd bite to make sure we weren't hallucinating how bad it was. Usually if food isn't amazing, it's at least average and edible but we actually threw our cone away. read more
Decided to check out this fun and tasty looking ice cream shop today! We were greeted by friendly employees. Super clean space and had 2 of their cones! Both do delicious! Yum!!! Great location in beautiful downtown Carlsbad village - you can take a walk and stop by to get this beautiful delicacy. Join the app to order in advance because a line can pop up at any minute. My hubby and I enjoyed a day date and then came here for dessert. We ordered the Brownie Royale with a sugary crispy fluffy cone! It was a great treat to end the date. If you download their app, they'll randomly offer a complimentary special. :) Will def order in the future read more
Omg! Such a cute spot, right in the heart of the village. I went to the grand opening and was super excited to try them out. They didn't not disappoint. I got the sugar cone with cookie butter spread and devour the whole thing within minutes. It was delicious. The cone was soft and almost like a donut texture, and when you add the cookie butter blending perfectly together. They offer a variety of spreads like pb, Nutella, cookie butter as well as soft serve ice cream options. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and the owner was a sweetheart. Welcome to the neighborhood Cripsy Cones (CC)! It was nice to see the owner and staff ready-to-go for this special occasion. They were all super friendly. Since it was my first time at CC, the staff behind the counter was very helpful when I had questions about the menu options. I was in-n-out. I looove the smooth and quick service. I enjoyed the celebratory vibes. My peanut butter cream in the oreo cone was sooo yummmy....made me say "Mmmmm... that hit the spot!". Thank you for a positive experience. Congrats!! read more

I'm a total dessert addict, and Crispy Cones just shot straight to the top of my Carlsbad must stop list. Sure, it's a bit pricier than your basic ice cream shop, but this place is in a whole different league. I built my own cone loaded with cookie butter spread, vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, Heath bar, and brownies. You could basically call it a sugar skyscraper. There was no way I was tackling that thing solo unless I wanted to be carried out in a full‑blown sugar coma. And wow... every bite was ridiculously good. read more
