It's not that I dislike this place... I just don't particularly love it. Due to ridiculous proximity to my apartment I've been here a few times. Crepes are pretty good with a nice big serving. You certainly won't leave hungry. We've had at least the California, Southwest, Tuscany, and Sizzling Saigon. None were bad but none really stuck out in my mind. My roommate was craving something sweet and I'm always up for dessert, so we headed over to something close bringing another friend along. We ordered the following crepes: banana chocolate (or was it nutella) strawberry, strawberry lemon glaze, and apple cinnamon caramel. It took a good 10 minutes for all of them to come out (which I thought was a bit lengthy because no one else was in there and there were a couple guys working). I was a bit disappointed with mine because they stuffed too much granny apple into the crepe. It looked impressive, but I'm not a big fan of plain granny apple. I thought the apple would be cooked like apple pie filling. If they had given me extra caramel to eat the extra apple though, I would have been happy. The crepe itself was good. My roommate didn't seem to like the strawberry lemon glaze because the strawberries were mushy, but I thought it was tasty. Our friend had the banana strawberry nutella/chocolate(?) crepe which he seemed to enjoy - but guys will eat anything right? Overall, I was probably just too shocked that my apple crepe cost me $6.50 to really enjoy it. Yes, it was fairly large, but...I just didn't think it was the right price. Walked here from my friend's appartment for breakfast before leaving Boston :( I ordered the strawberry, banana & nutella crepe, it had so many strawberries & bananas, that I finshed the crepe and had leftover fruit. My hubby had banana french toast (with a whole banana on top of it!). Our other friends had the apple cinnamon crepe (amazing!) and a savory spinache & cheese crepe (huge and stuffed with filling!) So we went to this place on a quite night .... It was absolutely empty. I look up to the menu and found good variety of food and choices. I ordered a chicken dish for dinner and it was great . It was like a platter from middle east with everything chicken rice hummus grape leaves and something eggplant. Other people in party order falafel plate with the same amount of food. Despite its name as a Creperie they serve all your classic breakfast dishes. But it feels more like a quiet relaxed informal caf than an authoritative breakfast restaurant like IHOP or Denny's. The servers bring out the food surprisingly fast, considering the constant crowd and seemingly perpetually understaffed number of cooks. These hardworking guys always seem dedicated to bringing your food fast and hot while willing to get anything additionally you require even if they aren't chirpy like a Linda-Lu waitress with a smile. Don't confuse this food direct-to-table service with a restaurant, it's counter-order, find a table, wait a few minutes, and delish. Delish is indeed the word that sums this place up. Lite flavors, delicate preparation, it's charming breakfast food rather than heaps of overwhelming pancakes and greasy sausages. Personally, I'd spring the extra dollar or two for the omelet if I was really hungry. However, the crepes will do more than enough to fill you up. The availability of sweeter Nutella or desert crepes and breakfast omelet crepes is a nice option. While the interior is small you can either opt to get your food to go or you may have to wait a couple minutes for a table to open up. Weekend mornings during the school year the place is always full but I've never had any trouble getting a table with a little patience, understanding, and friendliness with your fellow neighbor probably a laid-back college student who won't mind if you borrow an extra chair, a bottle of ketchup, or a packet of jam. I used to live right down the street from here. It's the best breakfast place. It's kind of a whole in the wall in the sense that there aren't really that many seats and it can fill up really easily on Saturday and Sunday mornings with my slightly hungover peers. However, they are open all day and they are really fast if you ask for the crepes or whatever else to go. Things I've had here: Cheese crepe- pretty good but kind of basic. Strawberry and Nutella crepe- friggin fantastic Apple and Caramel Crepe- I didn't like the Caramel at all- I wanted something a little less runny and more thick and decadent Banana Nut pancakes- Oh MY GOD. Hash browns- fine but not particularly recommended. When I used to work at BU and go to school at Simmons, I would often walk past Crispy Crepes and pick up something to eat. That was before the remodeling. I'm happy to report that the food is just as delicious now as it was before. My boyfriend and I recently stopped by on a weekday morning for a quick brunch - and were both super happy. He got the banana, strawberry and Nutella crepe while I got the same minus the banana. We were both more than satisfied. I just went here for the first time today and it was pretty good, although a bit expensive considering some errors made. I got the Nutella, Banana & Coconut Super Crepe (it comes with hash browns and your choice of bacon, ham or sausage). The crepe was REALLY GOOD. Melt-in-your mouth light while stuffed with a whole banana and nutella (he forgot the coconut, points off there). I asked for bacon and he gave me turkey bacon. It was tasty turkey bacon, but NOT bacon, not crisp. He should have said that they were out, or said SOMETHING. The hash browns were tasty but soft, not crispy at all, so I took it home to crisp it later. They were delicious after I crisped them in the oven for about a half hour. Maybe they could use the frialator to crisp them? Not sure. Finally, they had lemon San pellegrino, SO good and tart for a total of $10.50. I took home half of the crepe and the hash browns, so I had dinner/big snack later!! The place kind of feels run down inside, though nothing was dirty at my table. Just a feeling you get. They give free water you serve yourself, so you aren't forced to buy a beverage and they let me stick around and read for quite some time. Yey! After a few more months of Crispy Crepes, I'm excited to say that its become a staple for me (albeit not a habit). If I need a quick sandwich or brunch crepe, its become my go to place. Sandwiches and crepes are decently good, I would recommend the Tuscan or Rustico paninis, and the crepes are all not bad. Breakfast dishes are not bad here, but my personal favorite is their hungry scholar special - grab a fries and Arizona for an extra $2. If you're a die-hard crepe fan who can't get enough, this place will provide a fix. However, be forewarned that if you've ever had decent crepes you will realize that these aren't very good. The crepes are passable. The service is friendly and efficient enough. Wait times are reasonable considering that they make all the crepes to order. I went here once with friends and, while I didn't love it, I liked it enough to go back a second time. It was that second visit that changed everything for me. You will not see me in that place again. I saw a GIANT cockroach. Now, I admit that I'm kind of a freak when it comes to germs and dirt, and I understand that these things live everywhere and lots of places I don't know about probably have them. However, this one wasn't crawling on the floor, it was roaming all over the counter! I was initially very excited to walk into this place with my sister and har boyfriend. It has been a while since I had had a good crepe. When I walked up to the counter, I asked if I could create my own crepe. The woman was at first a little confused but then realized what I was asking. She asked what I wanted and I told her I wanted brie, strawberries, and scrambled eggs. Now I know this is a strange order but I find it tasty, so why should it be a problem for them? They have all the ingredients. She asked me to repeat the order so I did. Then she asked if I was sure. I said yes, and she proceeded to bring the manager over. She told the manager what I wanted and he was like why do you want that? It will not taste good. First of all, I order what I like, if I thought I wasn't going to like it, I wouldn't have ordered it. It is simple as that. Second, who was he to tell me, I wasn't going to like it? Different people have different tastes, and a restaurant manager should certainly respect that. Third, how awful for business is it to tell someone their food is going to taste bad? After I convinced him I had had this combination before, and tossing in that Paris Creperie has no problem making me my crepe, he finally consented to the lady making my food. If this was the only issue, I would have given them 4 stars. But, my crepe was also not very warm, and not as full as it could have been. Oh, Crispy Crepes... what to say. Both the food and the experience here is incredibly hit or miss. I've had a few of their breakfast items (different kinds of pancakes), which have been delicious and huge portions. Yum! But I've also had the turkey crepe, which consisted of sliced deli turkey and canned cranberry sauce served lukewarm in a non-crispy crepe. Weird. My husband has had the chicken wraps, which he enjoyed although the seasoning varied a lot between visits. The real reason for the three-star rating, though, is the service. The folks who run the place are very nice, but the service can be SO slow. We once waited around half an hour for our dinner-- there were two of us there, this is not a "sit down" restaurant, and the place was nowhere near full. And I would say that waiting for too long isn't uncommon (we've been there probably four times and only had quick service once). The decor is also not very welcoming, and the restaurant isn't heated very well in the winter. But it's a nice place to stop in if you live nearby and are looking for a relatively cheap meal. read more

It pains me to give this review. Let me preface this by saying that Crispy Crepes Cafe will always have a special place in my heart, because 7 years ago it was my only delivery alternative to Dominos. Bacon, egg & cheese bagel sandwiches, strawberry/banana/nutella crepes, and delicious tortellini dishes--all delivered straight to my college dormitory after normal dinner hours. No wonder I gained 20 pounds my first year of college. Also, this place has clearly changed since I was last there. It looks about 2 to 3 times bigger now. But from what I saw today, it has gone downhill. Granted, my friends and i came here on, OF ALL DAYS, the day of BU graduation. However, the restaurant was not overflowing. It had a manageably higher level of customers, but not overwhelming. The number of customers present matched the number of tables available relatively well. With this in mind, I was disappointed. Breakfast was so bland compared to what I remember. Their bacon used to be deliciously crispy and ever-so-slightly burnt which I love. Today it was floppy and boring. Their egg omelets used to be amazing--today it was clear that the cheese used was the overly processed fake kind. It tasted, well... gross. The hash brown potato pancake thing LOOKED cool, but it was not good at all. Half of my "grilled" muffin was cold, leading me to think they forgot to prepare one of the sides. The crepes are pretty hard to screw up, and my friends seemed to enjoy theirs. But really, the prices are relatively high for such a simple breakfast meal, and so I'd have expected something a lot better than what we got for the money. Also of note, I was disappointed by the service. When we got in line, we were told that unless we had a table, he could not take our order. We had just stood in line for 5 minutes when he told us this. So we had to exit the line, wait for a table, and then get BACK in line and wait all over again. It would have been nice if they had put up a sign or something, or announced this while we were standing there. Also, he didn't even bother mentioning the possibility of take-out, which we might have been OK with. I will come back here at some point in the future to see whether today was just a fluke, but for now I don't think this was anything close to the place I adored all those years ago. read more

Starving- I found myself staring at the incredible menu at Crispy Crepes Cafe. They have everything you can imagine- breakfast, crepes, Mediterranean food, pasta dishes, salads... you name it. I ordered the chicken pita wrap- with spices, lettuce and tomato. They cook the pita so that the outside is hot and crispy, and the chicken was juicy and flavorful! And then to top it off- they threw chips into my bag... I had no idea- it was like a prize in a happy meal. Sadly- the pita didn't make it home, and the poor ladies at the laundromat were probably pretty peeved I came in with my pita dripping with deliciousness. I will definitely return to explore all of the other menu possibilities! But next time, I will try to make it home before I devour it. read more
