Came here for an impromptu brunch on a Saturday morning/afternoon. There was about a 20 minute wait, but seats at the bar were open and it was full service. The menu had a very nice selection- I ordered the Wrightwood salad and my partner ordered some sort of chicken pot pie with biscuits meal..I forgot the name of it. Anyway, both meals, and the drinks, were REALLY good!! We will definitely be returning for more!! Oh- my partner also really enjoyed the lobster deviled eggs. I had brunch here with friends. Good atmosphere and vibe. A lot of young people with dogs. Who doesn't like dogs. Speaking about likes and dislikes, the rotisserie chicken salad was a total dislike for me. It was heavy and overly oily, the chicken was bland and flavorless. It gave an impression that some left over roti chicken from some grocery store had been chopped up haphazardly to make this salad!. The salad itself was chewy, making me feel that they had obtained the services of the more senior members of the green vegetable family to make it. The service however was good. We have been going to Crosby's for about 6 years. I feel that the quality of the food is seriously declining. We loved this spot as it is kids friendly restaurants and you can usually get in no problem. However, tonight's experience was just not good at all. Our drink order was messed up - which can happen, no biggie. Our guacamole looked brown ish/old and it also tasted like that. I felt kinda grossed out by it. Lastly, my salmon was seriously undercooked and raw inside. I mean it is not sushi! The server asked me how I want the salmon cooked which I was kinda like huh? I was never asked that about fish. However, I said fully cooked and she was like ok so well done. Well it was raw. At that point I was like let's just get out of here. We took the leftovers with which now I don't know why, because we threw them away. The only good dish we had was the kids chicken and the chicken sandwich with the dip.. sorry but for $109 for a dinner I should have a decent experience. I really felt icky eating this food. This place has great service and a nice seating around outside. You get to people watch while you eat. We shared their chicken dip sandwich. Lots of meat, it was tender, and the bread was good. I'm not a big breast fan when it comes to chickens ;) but it was still very tasty. The key lime pie was to die for! I loved how it wasn't too sweet or too tart. Just right. The whipped cream was average and crust too fell to pieces but their filling was the winner here. Would definitely come back and try something else or even try out their brunch menu. Went here for Easter Brunch with a couple friends and really enjoyed our meal here. Between us we got the rock shrimp salad, lobster deviled eggs, guacamole, and eggs benedict, along with a couple cocktails. We all left pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed all our food (I would have preferred if the shrimp salad was just a little more hearty on the salad aspect). It's not a huge menu, but I feel this is the type of place that focuses on doing some things very well instead of doing everything so-so. The ambiance was open and inviting and seemed like a great place to bring kids to (given the number of families and kids around us). Hmm, these restaurants on Southport with high Yelp reviews are not living up (Southport Grocery and Cafe last week and CK this weekend)! After a 45 minute wait on a Saturday, we sat down to a brunch of monkey bread, a grilled tilapia sandwich with a side of bacon potato cakes, and a 2 egg, sausage, and bacon meal. Monkey bread was served up in a skillet, looked fluffy and inviting, and I couldn't wait to dig in! My hopes fell flat when I took my first bite, and the bread was still cold on the interior! What?? I notified the waiter, and he quickly took the skillet away. I thought the kitchen might just pop the monkey back into the oven for a couple minutes, which I would've been fine with, but they re-prepared the dish. The second attempt sadly wasn't any better. When I tasted the bread, it was room temperature. For a dish served in a skillet with accompanying heavy duty oven mitt, the temperature definitely missed expectations. Now that I got that monkey off my back (har har!), I will say that the tilapia in my sandwich was blackened nicely and seasoned appropriately. The bacon potato cake was flavorful and had a pleasant, crusty texture on the outside. My husband was satisfied with his brunch, and we both give the coffee 2 thumbs up. Bonus random observation: this Lakeview spot is like baby central! It seemed like almost every table had an infant or toddler diner, and the front foyer of Crosby's was occupied by stroller parking. read more

I moved to Chicago over two years ago, and Crosby's was the first place I dined at on the exact day I moved in. They never disappoint, and even after leaving the Southport neighborhood, I always return. I would definitely suggest making a reservation if venturing here on a weekend because they are always busy. They are kid-friendly and have a variety of options for both meat lovers and vegetarians. My favorite is the Wrightwood Salad for dinner. Their brunch is also a 10/10. We were texted shortly thereafter and headed over. Service was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Food was aweeeesomeeee we had the bacon strata benedict (heavy and amazing) and the fried egg sandwich on thick cut marbled rye (massive and messy and delicious). Potatoes on the side for both. It was insisted that I get the potatoes -- hashbrowns that are mixed with a soft cheese and rosemary. Delightful!! I have been to Crosby's several times and each time the service is incredible as are the food and drinks. They serve an amazing aperol spritz which I have paired with the cornbread and spinach dip appetizers (both delicious and flavorful). I have also enjoyed the wrightwood salad (added chicken), the chicken dip sandwich with a side of broccoli, and the Grilled Mahi Mahi sandwich (separate occasions!). All of these entrees have been so good. Their fries are so crispy as well. I also cannot recommend their carrot cake enough. It so moist with an amazing cream cheese frosting layer!! i went with a couple of coworkers a couple of weeks ago and was disappointed. Let's start with the good - the buffalo shrimp appetizer was delicious, I highly recommend. It was down hill from there though. We all had the fish and chips and it was more batter than fish. We then all ordered dessert. The keylime pie was good, the carrot cake came out wrong the first time but the second time was the charm. Unfortunately , I can't say the same for the cookie. The first one was clearly uncooked and the second one was more brown on top but still uncooked in the middle. It was untouched and the waiter did not offer a refund or substitute. Stopped in for a bite because we were in the neighborhood, and this seemed the best option at the time. It was early dinnertime-ish, like 6pm. The inside was crowded, so we opted to sit outside, with the request that we get seated out of the blazing sun. Our wish was granted, we avoided a wait time, got a shady table with an umbrella on the patio. Service was attentive but not overbearing. My water was never empty, and the server was familiar with the menu and was able to answer questions. I had the chicken sandwich which was delightful. Nice bread that was the right size and did not fall apart, tender chicken and cheezy goodness. What's not to like? The other half had a burger. Solid choice, cooked as requested. So we really came here because our son's name is Crosby but definitely was a bonus that it was a great restaurant! Food was really good! We got the cream of mushroom soup on a cold and snowy day to start and it hit the spot! I got the filet sliders as my app and they were super easy to eat and so yummy! I love bleu cheese and red onions with a filet so it was perfect! My husband got the chicken au jus which was soooo tender the chicken didn't even taste like a regular chicken. It literally melted away in your mouth. It reminded me of something you should eat on thanksgiving or Christmas Day. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive. Food in general was AOK, but sadly, turkey burger was super dry. Spinach dip, lobster deviled eggs, sausage and sides including slaw and a biscuit were delicious but temps were all a bit off. I really have been trying hard to refrain from leaving negative reviews, especially given the fact that local businesses and restaurants have been struggling due to the pandemic. However, I have to say, I am really disappointed by how Crosby's kitchen handled a missing item. I had ordered the chicken and biscuits, Wrightwood salad and a Bloody Mary mix through delivery. When the delivery arrived, we had the food, but no Bloody Mary mix. I called the restaurant to let them know. They were apologetic and said they could either reimburse me or I can drive there to pick it up. I asked if it could be delivered and they said that I would have to reorder it, but they would adjust the charge on their end. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I not only got charged twice, but I also incurred all the extra delivery charges that is typical of a third party service, including a small order delivery fee. If you were wondering how the food was, the Wrightwood salad was decent, but the chicken and biscuits were somewhat disappointing. The chicken was tender, which was a positive, but the flavor was bland. I was expecting a hearty gravy and instead the gravy felt like some semblance of a chicken noodle soup. read more

Visiting here during Covid, they had all virtual menus and a table with sanitizer upon entering so I felt safe. This is part of the same group as Remingtons, etc. and you can see some of the staples on the menu that you'd see at their sister restaurants but this location is a bit more casual. During lunch time they had TVs on and the staff was very friendly. I do not recall the name of the woman behind the bar but she was wonderful. I haven't gone out much during the pandemic so of course I wanted something I don't make at home and I also wanted to compare the crabcake to Remingtons. It was very similar, which is a good thing! I am a big fan of Ella Elli and Smoke Daddy so why not try another 4 star restaurant group. Two of us came here around 1:30pm on a Saturday and the hostess said it would be about an hour and a half wait. So yes it's a popular place for brunch. We put our name down and eyehawked for seats at the bar and we found two there so we didn't need to wait. Thank God because we were starving! We ordered Bloody Mary's to celebrate and some biscuits as a starter. The Bloody Mary was solid with a decent spice after I asked for it spicy and it came with a beer back, which is nice. The biscuits were solid! They were very hot and crispy. It didn't look like they were served with butter, but the fresh jam or chutney or whatever you want to call it was very sweet and flavorful. Since we were both starving, I mean we both just ran a half marathon in negative temperatures, I ordered the biscuits and gravy plus French Toast. The portion sizes were pretty big. There were 3 biscuits with lots of gravy. It had sausage in it so it had a little bit of a kick to it. The French today was sooooo GOOD! It was served with some cream cheese based spread and it was scrumptious! Service was solid and prices were pretty cheap for the Southport Corridor. This was my first visit (and certainly not my last) and I had a great experience - January 5 at 1:00pm. I ordered the lunch special combo - Croquettes / Burger / Key Lime Pie. Everything was delicious! However, a good restaurant experience is not in the food alone - it is the combination of food and service. Megan was our server today. She greeted me with a smile and introduced herself. She was very friendly, knowledgable and attentive to make sure that my lunch partner and I had everything we needed - she is definitely the kind of person who should be in front of customers and training those in a similar role. It always makes me feel good to eat at a restaurant that has such a terrific person like this. The level of service she provided, unfortunately is not very common in dining and retail environments these days, so I especially appreciate it when I have such a great experience. The eggs Benedict had watery hollandaise, the English muffins were not toasted and the bacon was flavorless. The prime rib skillet tasted like left over, overcooked meat from a week ago. The bacon was old and soggy like a carnival cruise buffet. Could tell they were just doing a lot of reheating vs making food to order. Hash browns were not at all crispy and under-seasoned.
