Cross Grain Brewhouse - Richmond International Airport (RIC) The service at this location was deplorable. They have a sign that says "Seat Yourself," so I did. Unfortunately, every table in the area was dirty. I picked the least messy one, moved the leftover tip, crumbs, and straw trash to the corner, and sat down. It was 12 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me--this, after I said good morning to the waitress as she walked by. When the waitress (Katrina) finally came over, she immediately asked if I was ready to order--no greeting, no attempt to clean the table, no sense of hospitality. The restaurant wasn't busy, so there was really no excuse for the lack of attention. About five minutes later, she returned to clean the table and thanked me for my patience--though I couldn't help but feel it was because she noticed I had my Yelp app open. I ordered the Country Breakfast, which, oddly, doesn't come with toast or any bread. When I asked if toast was included, she flatly said no, without offering to add any. I had to ask what kinds they had and request it myself. The food arrived 27 minutes after I sat down--definitely not ideal for anyone catching a flight. The breakfast itself was just okay. * Eggs: overcooked and overly salted. * Potatoes: crispy but more like hash browns than home fries, also quite salty. * Bacon: salty, but at least cooked perfectly. * Toast: arrived with the meal but without butter, jelly, or any condiments. When I flagged her down to ask for butter, she seemed visibly annoyed and said it would "take a few minutes" since she had to go across the way to get it. (Not sure what way she was even referring too.) After that, I was never checked on again for refills or service. Prices are on the high side--my meal was in the low $20 range--but the portion size was decent. In this tipping culture, I tend to grade on four key factors: * Friendliness: C * Service: F * Accuracy of Order: A * Quality of Food/Taste: B- I come to Richmond frequently for work and had some extra time this morning, so I decided to give Cross Grain a shot. That was a mistake--I won't be doing it again.

Chicken Tinga quesadilla minus one slice so good

Chicken Tinga quesadilla was really really good. The people beside me are eating burgers and hot chicken sandwiches they look amazing.

Not bad! Which is mostly all I ask of airport food. It took about 25 minutes for the quesadilla to come out, so it wasn't speedy, but fortunately, this is a small airport and I could see my gate from the bar. The quesadilla was packed with chicken and had good flavor. I would have loved sour cream but the restaurant didn't have any. I enjoyed a good local IPA while I waited. All in all, so glad I stopped instead of getting on the plane hungry.

There aren't many restaurants available but this one seemed to be the most popular. They were busy with friendly customer service, plentiful beverage options and large food quantities. Prices are reasonable. My server seemed overwhelmed at times as he spilled someone's drink all over my receipt but he managed to keep rolling with the punches and not let it stop him. He had a good sense of humor.

I have to give it a 5 star based on the music selection alone. Every time I'm here, the music is hitting !!! Whitney, The Gap Band, Stevie.. WHO is the DJ!!?? Food isn't that good, but grab you a beer and tune out .

Busy lil bar - seemed to be the only thing on the concourse. Service was on point, personal staff conversations near kitchen were a bit too loud, food was bar food but tasty and came out quick. Overall a good place to grab a bite and a beverage while waiting in Richmond airport.

Service is horrible. No one wants to work and they all have a scowl on their face. Asked for a menu and Dayron just completely ignored me. That was after being ignored for 24 minutes. This place sucks!! That being said, who are you going to tell. No in charge there and whoever owns it couldn't care less. No other choices.

This is the only true food option in terminal A and it isn't a very strong one. If you're in a rush, it's better to either bring food with you or get something from the Hudson news across from it. Food takes 15-20 minutes to come out. I will add that it was nice to be able to order a water bottle for your plane while you wait for your food. I felt a bit bad for the servers because all the guests were a bit moody and stressed about being late for their planes. Service was slow at the end, but my server was very kind. There are bar seats, booths, and normal tables in the space. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was a frozen cutlet that wasn't the best. It didn't sit well with me later. I also overheard the people next to me complaining about their hamburgers. This is the only warm food option in this terminal though. Perhaps I just didn't have luck with what I ordered.

A must stop in the downtown Richmond area!…read more It's truly a speakeasy with the door posing as a bookshelf. To get in, you must know the password or tell the host a joke that makes him laugh. We were escorted in and quickly noticed that this was more than a speakeasy-it was a full restaurant. We stopped in for drinks, but it was nice to have tapas. I got the popcorn with the Tequilla lime butter, which was the perfect balance of salt. I had a mezcal drink which was perfect! I'm such a fan of mezcal and am excited when I see it on the menu. Our waitress was a delight-super attentive and also a bartender so she was able to answer all of our drink questions. It was very spacious with outdoor seating. Definitely a 10/10 experience. I would definitely go again!

He asked for the password and we, unprepared, had to tell him a joke or an interesting fact. Luckily, my partner had one on hand. The atmosphere was lovely, very reminiscent of a 1920s speakeasy, or at least what you'd imagine it to be like. Our server came by within a few minutes of us being seated. She lacked enthusiasm, unlike the host, unfortunately. Her service turned out to be lackluster as well. We ordered the chicken pot pie and the filet mignon with asparagus. For drinks, the Grape Gatsby and Maine root beer. The food, like our server, lacked appeal. The saving grace was the host and the atmosphere. The view was lovely and the intimacy of the setting was a welcome experience. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding, and it was tasty, though nothing special. The burned odor that we smelled prior to its arrival turned out to be the bread. I can recommend Grandstaff and Stein as an experience, but you should not expect much in the way of culinary delights or exemplary service. We probably won't be back, but if you've never been, it's worth trying at least once.

If they aren't part of the decor, it was a treat nonetheless. We stepped inside from the rain with a parking spot very near the door. I snapped a pic on the way in to capture it's essence. We risked another walk-in with no reservations, and we snagged two prime end seats on the communal table. There were two open seats at the bar as well; might come in handy some other rainy Thursday night. The server, Murphy M., judging by the receipt, who helped my partner and I with our order, was a gracious host and incredibly well-practiced. It was a master class in serving, made effortless by him. He could not have been more accommodating, as we saw him appear inevitably at the exact right moments. Our server offered us bread and oil before the appetizer. The bread here is made fresh daily. It was so soft, I could not tell the difference from store bought. The food was exquisitely well prepared, the chefs and kitchen staff are immensely skilled. The appetizer was presented to us within a relatively short amount of time. We had time for a short discussion before the it arrived. The Tiropita was described as "four pieces of heaven." Accurate. The phyllo was thin and crisp, and the feta was creamy and delicious. I was careful not to bite too hard and ruin my pants. I had the Kotopoulo, which is a feta-brined oven-baked chicken with lemon and herbs served with lemon potatoes. The dish was cooked to perfection. The cooked potatoes were exactly as I like them, soft yet held their shape. It was an excellent meal, if a bit unwieldy (it's like half a rotisserie chicken, basically). My partner had the Hilopites, an egg noodle dish with giant beans, pine nuts, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and feta, in a creamy, savory sauce that I couldn't begin to describe with mere words. The meals were both stunning, made unclear by my disastrous photography. All that being said, I did not really enjoy my meal as I was expecting. Maybe it's me, maybe it's today, or maybe the flavors simply weren't what I am accustomed to with the dozens of Greek restaurants from my past. I'm uncertain, and that's okay sometimes. Either way, it was a fantastic experience, and I will dine here again.
