This place is amazing! We found this cute little restuarant outside the Joshua Tree NP West Entrance. They were really pleasant, sat us outside within 5 minutes of showing up and served a beautiful breakfast. I got 2 eggs sunnyside up with fruit and banana bread. My partner got the breakfast burrito. The atmosphere is relaxed and perhaps unsophisticated, but the food is good and filling. Neat western flair with antique cans and bottles lining high shelving and pictures from surrounding areas adorn wooden-planked walls. We stopped here for a quick bite on our way out of Joshua Tree. We ordered two ahi tuna burgers, one ice tea, and one Arnold Palmer. I added avocado to my burger (it also comes with a slaw, tomato, and jalapeño mayonnaise). Instead of fries, I had the side salad. Our food was so fresh and delicious. Amazing little eatery in Joshua Tree! They were very busy on a Saturday morning breakfast rush. We only waited about 30 minutes for a table. I had the breakfast burrito with a side of bacon (really delicious!!) it's not the pick up with your hands kind, you need a fork and knife for this one! Bf had a custom Omelette with home fries and banana bread. We were also treated to some delicious house special cookies with chocolate chips and macadamia nuts, because it took a little long to get my coffee (NOT NECESSARY, but VERY APPRECIATED). They're some of the best cookies I've ever had. A little thick, a little chewy, a little crunch on the outside. 10/10 would recommend stopping by if you're in town! read more

This is not a review of the food, which was tasty, but some racial shadiness I experienced from them today (Friday morning around noon). My wife and I made a to-go order before our Joshua Tree hike, and the middle aged white woman who rang us up slyly mentioned that there would be a 20% gratuity added. Our total for 2 turkey sandwiches and 2 black coffees was $45. I thought it was odd to have that policy for takeout orders and that it wasn't written anywhere, but was happy to contribute given these tough times for businesses. However, while we were waiting for our food, my wife noticed that they didn't charge that mandatory gratuity to ANYONE else after us (all white customers). A. If you have a mandatory 20% gratuity for takeout, you need to write that somewhere so customers are aware. B. We were excited to eat here given their decent vegetarian menu and great reviews. Unfortunately we made the mistake of trying to visit the day after Christmas, during their lunch rush and the staff did not handle the influx of visitors well. We put our name down on the waiting list and patiently waited in a crowded waiting area while dodging servers and other patrons. At 1:50pm, after about half an hour, we realised that the breakfast menu would end at 2pm and went to ask if it might still be possible to order from it once seated since the majority of the vegetarian options we were interested in were "breakfast". The woman staffing the front desk was borderline patronising to me, reading out each row on the list above our name one by one, then explaining that we couldn't order food before we were seated and that we wouldn't be seated before 2pm, so no, they couldn't serve breakfast items to us. She then suggested a (meat heavy) alternative across the street. We decided to eat elsewhere in the end, but I just wish they'd been a little more friendly about the whole thing. Yes, it's hard dealing with an influx of customers during the holidays but I've been to places that are similarly busy and while they're stern, they're always pleasant. read more

The last two places that we tried that had as many vegan options, just didn't appeal to our tastes. I'm so glad that we stayed. Walked in and was told that online order was faster than in person. Default order time for online orders is 45 mins, at least for mine. So if you order online expect to wait a bit. Ordered at 12:17, received my order at 1330. Received an iced mocha instead of a hot mocha. I asked to have the right drink, and was handed a warm "mocha". I suspect that they just heated up the ice mocha. Perhaps I'm wrong. In the mean time while I waited seating was available in 15 mins and patrons were done with their meals. They do not seat you if you ordered online. Lesson is don't take advice from a rushed staff. Pretty sure this isn't the norm since the previous experiences were great here. Peanut butter bar....not for the faint of heart. It's great if you need energy right away. Zydeco Breakfast was delicious and warm enough to eat. Coffee....like warm tap water with milk and sugar. First time here and went with a group of friends because we saw great reviews. Unfortunately, ours wasn't so great. We ordered online and waited over an hour for the food (confirmation said 45 min). By the time we got our food, a big chunk of the order was missing and some of the food th was cold. So we had to wait again to get the rest of the order and when we got it, still got the order wrong and my sausage was pink inside. Very frustrating. I will say the staff there is friendly. I was lost in the Joshua Tree area and I am certainly glad I came across this breakfast spot. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the corned beef dish and I can honestly say this was one of my favorite from all of the places I have had it from. I also ordered the French toast and it did not disappoint. The plates are portioned very generously and you can't help it but to eat more than your hunger level because the taste and presentation are impeccable. The staff were nice, friendly and very attentive. If I come back around this area, this place will definitely be on my go to list so I can enjoy a good hearty breakfast. Thumbs up!! read more

When someone came over with cups water, he wouldn't take our order, saying he wasn't the waiter. Finally, we put in our order with the real waiter...and waited some more. I had the Ahi Tuna Burger, and it was the worst tuna burger I've ever eaten. And for $17, no less! My husband got a quesadilla, but he should have known better. You should never order Mexican food in a non-Mexican restaurant. On our way out of Joshua Tree yesterday, the fam and I decided to stop for breakfast at Crossroads Cafe. We arrived shortly after 7 a.m., so there was no wait. Once we were seated, we were greeted by our very enthusiastic server, Chris. The first order of business was coffee. The coffee was so good and came from the Joshua Tree Coffee Company. The menu has something for everyone. If you want a hearty breakfast before taking a hike in the park, this is the place for you. I love corned beef hash and Crossroads has some of the best. I chose to have my hash with the eggs poached. If you haven't experienced corned beef hash without poached eggs, you haven't lived. My wife had the biscuits and gravy and my daughter had the French Toast and ate every bit of it. Crossroads Cafe also serves dinner. When we drove by the night before, the place was packed! The dinner menu looks really good as well. No complaints on the service. I think some of the other customers didn't appreciate Chris's enthusiasm, but we did. There is parking available in front of Crossroads, but is fills up fast. Otherwise, you need to park behind the restaurant. read more

The staff was so friendly, nice, and helpful especially when I asked about menu recommendations. I liked how their menu has variety but was a little bummed when I found out that some of their menu items were "hiatus". I ended up getting a French toast, banana bread, and a mocha. The service is acceptable but do not be placed outside, it was during the middle of the day and the sun was beaming on us with no fans or misters.
