I've been a huge fan of Crossroads for years, but this location is very unimpressive. As anyone who has sold to Crossroads before knows, they are very picky about what they choose, but this location seems to just buy anything. I don't understand how they could expect people to pay for the armpit-stained, broken zippered, busted-seamed clothes they seem to have so many of. I think Goodwill screens their items better... The chicks that work there a bit snobbish (they work in second hand clothing retail, no offense, but I don't think it constitutes an attitude). Again, I love Crossroads, but this one doesn't cut it for me. Maybe I'll return if they raise their buying standards, and at least ACT like they are happy to help you (I've worked in retail for years, it's basically 70% of the job!) read more

Fashion on the cheap! 4 stars for fashion, less so for the customer service. I always stick to the "new" or "non-recycled" fashion, but I find that generally their recycled pieces are in near-mint condition. I've sold here, too, and the process is easy peasy. Just bring your stuff (in very good condition ONLY, PLEASE! And preferably in season or for the following season) and hand it to the sales person, then browse around until they call your name. You get cash or credit and also, in my case, the sense of relief that my closet is a little less full than it was when I left the house! Hmm...just make sure you don't pick up any more items to bring back to said closet...that's the tricky part. Whether you're looking for something haute, something cool or something chic, you'll find it at Crossroads. Sure, it gets a-little-to-a-lot hipster, but there are some seriously great finds (something for everyone) and everything is sorted by COLOR -- OCD shoppers unite! Beware the less-than-enthusiastic sales folks who sometimes have a snooty attitude. By this I mean, when you go to try stuff on in the dressing room, they hand you a number and tell you to bring the clothes back out - without ever looking at you, smiling, or generally acknowledging that you, in fact, exist. Same story at the register, or when you ask someone for help. Not one to be a hater though...in all fairness I have met some great, helpful and friendly sales people there too. Just on a less frequent basis...truth! Ladies - don't bypass the jewelry display or the accessories! You can find some designer digs and otherwise really unique jewelry here for cheap :) It's kind of a love-hate relationship with Crossroads but I am a self-proclaimed addict to the place. read more

I can definitely see why sellers would get frustrated with this place they are particular about what they're accepting. The girl who helped me (Cindie or Cinthia I think?) was knowledgeable and helpful from the moment I walked in. I didn't feel as uncomfortable as I thought I would bringing in 3 bags of clothes I was going to donate anyway and didn't sort through. She let me know how they worked and what they were looking for at the moment and I looked around for 25 minutes while she and another associate sorted. They ended up only taking 3 items for about $15 stating I should come back with some of the same items at a later date and they'd probably purchase them, but just didn't have space right now. Overall pretty good experience, I wish I knew about this place sooner. read more

Went in for a little shopping and selling and it was an O-K experience. They take a lot of designer brands in but I feel like many of the items they resell for are overpriced at this location. You can get a better deal at the brand place you like by looking at their clearance rack! Brought some bags in to sell but none were accepted (totally understood since many of the stuff I brought it were unique pieces rather than brand names). Would I come back? Probably not. read more

This is the first consignment place I've ever been to. I heard about it from my sister, who went to the one in Santa Cruz. It's a decent sized store, located down the street from Oakridge Mall. Neither of us ever shop here, but we've sold our lightly used goods here a couple of times. You walk in with whatever you want to sell, sign in, and wait for the sales/buyer to go through your stuff. They are usually picky and they buy according to the season too. The way it works is easy and simple, you can either get 50% of the price they will sell the item for, in store credit, or 35% of the price they will sell the item for, in cash. They sell everything for cheap so don't expect to get much for your things--and hey, it's better than getting nothing. If you don't have time, they have a drop-off option where you can drop off your stuff and come back a day later. I'm not a fan of used clothes, but I guess it's an okay place for those who are. I did take a brief look at their inventory as I waited for the sales/buyer to go through my things. There are all sorts of designer stuff for cheap--denim, tops, dresses, bags, and shoes. However, they also have a bunch of crap too. If you need to clear up some closet space, why not make a few bucks from your old stuff by taking it here? Another person's trash is another person's treasure, right? read more

Oh my goodness. This is my haven, my home away from home, the apple of my eye.. well, not quite that far, but very close! I can't get enough of this place! Most of the time, if I get a compliment on my style, it's usually from here. And I tell everyone, I mean everyone about how fantastic it is. :) I've found Anthropologie cashmere sweaters for $5.00. Ted Baker pea coats for $50 (granted they are normally about $500), my favorite dresses I've ever owned for between $10-$20- dresses so amazingly flattering I'd think they were hand-tailored specifically for me! Anytime I'm itching to go to there, and I'm wanting a burger at the same time- I always end up choosing Crossroads, because for the price of lunch I can have a beautiful piece to add to my wardrobe. Very rude person buying. This place has become so snobby and rude and expensive. The stuff they sell is similar what i brought in and the lady claimed they had enough of that stuff already but they did not have many at all. She's got to be the rudest buyer ever and she's been there the last two times I went. I will never go here again. Years back this place was awesome with buying and merchandise. Clean. Clothing in good repair. Polite people at the counter - but the prices are up there when it comes to 2nd-hand clothes. That said I found a cute hoodie for my daughter that was 1/2 off (so I paid $6.50 or there around) and a new (still had it's Macy's tags on it) gypsy skirt for me for $20. Definitely a good place to shop if you're young and looking for current fashions (to avoid paying full price retail), but definitely not as good for older people who want to avoid looking like they're trying too hard to hold on to their youth. ;) And, from what I saw, not a place to find the sort of bargains you can typically find at Goodwill or the American Cancer Society stores. read more

Don't bother selling here they don't even look at your clothes. I had 3 bags and the girl took only 2 minutes to look through "all of them." She claimed that there were a lot of forever 21 and stores similar to that but that was only in my 2 smaller bags that I wasn't expecting to sell. My bigger bag with name brands looked untouched. Crossroads should have their buyers actually look through the items especially when they aren't busy and also have their buyers learn more brands, I had a bunch of stuff from LF which is $50+ on average for anything there. My closet needed some purging... I typically donate all my old/outdated/no longer fit clothes. However - as I was going through clothes to get rid of, I realized there were SO many pieces that have been only worn once. So, I decided to take them to crossroads... Please note: - they only take items that are currently in season - must be in sellable condition - you get either 50% (off of retail, what $ they mark to sell your item at ) in Crossroads credit OR 30% back cash I had a fairly good experience. This was my first time selling so the woman who helped me, explained how it works - all you need to decided is if you want a smaller amount of cash or would like to take crossroads credit. I sold 21 items total to approx $117 in Crossroads credit. I decided to partial it and purchased $65 in items I found and then even got $34 back in cash! The overall process took about 45 minutes. Pros: Getting cash for clothes you no longer want!! Hidden treasures, if you dig enough Cons: Mark up on 'recycled' clothing items are high (F21 dress was $30, might be even cheaper if i went to get a new one there myself) OK staff - no one was super nice OR super mean Smell (but i guess they can't help it since ppl bring in old/dusty clothes) I'd definitely come back and would like to visit the San Carlos location in the future. read more

Crossroads is both good, and bad. Shopping is very hit or miss, depending on your taste. I have found a few gems (mostly shoes) for decent prices here, but most of the time I have left empty handed. I fully concur with Robert X, many of the shirts have idiotic witty captions that one would find at Kohl's or Target. Also the men's jeans they buy are usually gigantic, which is annoying. The girls who buy the clothing are snobby and annoying, making me never want to sell there again. Also they are very rude when you make your purchases, often making you wait until they are done talking to one another to ring you up. read more

I was excited when I heard about this place because it was so close to where I lived and I had a ton of gently-used clothing in my closet that I needed to purge. I've been here maybe half a dozen times in the past year to sell my things and to browse their inventory, but I've never bought anything. I almost bought a cute pink silk blouse once but close inspection of it revealed a yellow stain on the chest! I have also found numerous garments on the sales floor with holes and stains and just all-around ugly. It makes me wonder about the quality of training for the buyers. On the selling end of things, they pay you 35% of the price that they will sell the item for in the store. The buyers are VERY picky and, from my experience, have passed up on quality brands like Free People, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, and Abercrombie & Fitch. If you check their inventory, you'll see that a lot of the clothes they sell are Forever 21 garbage. One more note to sellers, they will only buy clothes that are IN SEASON so forget about taking your sweaters and coats to sell there in the summer. It's probably true that you'll find really great deals here but only if you have the patience to look through all of the racks and only if you have the patience to deal with their poor customer service. read more

Was buying & selling here for a while, I never really paid attention to the negative aspects because to me, it's all about business. You can find someone's used favorite clothing piece or just something you need for a specific occasion. Prices are not as cheap as platos closet, but you sure can find more designer brand names here. Pros: can buy new or used items here. Organized by items and colors. Walkways are clear & free. Cons: customer service can improve & I do agree with some of the other reviews about the employees being snooty, need more integrity about who you're representing. The girl with the short curly hair with strange eye brows is probably the manager who is unprofessional, immature, discriminates, naive, & seems like the employees are influenced by that type of leadership. They talk about customers in an unpleasant way in front of other clients. This is a place of business, not a sorority house. These gypsy dressing girls need strength training with delivering excellent customer service & creating a more positive environment. read more

If you have some time to WASTE... then bring your clothes here to sell. If you your time is precious... don't bother! I took a large bin, plus a large bag of clothes, that were all in great condition, and in style, and they took NOTHING. Some of the clothing still had TAGS on! Granted, I had a few out of season items mixed in, so I knew those would be overlooked... but, to not take ANYTHING, ugh, what a waste of time! The place smells, so I was too creeped out to touch any of the clothing in there, let alone "buy" anything. I wasn't impressed with what they had to offer style-wise either. After hearing the many stories of what my brother got at Crossroads Trading, I decided to check out the store. So my husband and I went to this location first. Its a nice store, doesnt smell like your typical thrift store (ya know that old, dusty, mildewy scent) I looked over the shoes and the purses. I got a nice Coach purse for $12 though a little used, still in great shape. I flipped through a few racks of clothes, nothing interested me. Husband got a few sweaters and nice shirts for work. I did notice over by the cash registers that there were designer items up for sale, wondering how much they actually paid someone for the items they were selling at a high amount that I had never seen at a store such as this. I was thining damn why didnt those people just sell it on Ebay or Craigslist? oh well... Not a bad store though, wasnt too crowded. Also if you choose not to use a bag, the will donate 5 cents to a charity (which I did) Also there is a label you fill out and they will send ya something for your b-day. We then went to the one on San Carlos, eh it was ok, smaller and not much that interested us and it was more expensive. Clothes not sorted well. Plus parking sucked. read more

I come to this place when I need something I can wear without being afraid it would get ruined. I love this place because you can find good brands for a really good price. I found an american apparel brand dress/tunic thing for $4! I also bought an american apparel men's shirt for $2! It's possible to find really good deals. You just have to work for it and really find it. It's not always a good day but there are those lucky days that are a steal! You can trust this place since they're really picky about the condition of the clothes. I can't stand Crossroads. I never find any good clothes here and selling them clothes is a terrible idea. They gave me 17 bucks for a couple of sweaters, one which cost me $60 and I saw them offer a woman $20 for a pair of 7 jeans and a Coach purse. Forget that, I'll sell my crap on ebay next time. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because I got a really cute octopus necklace, but it's not really a spectacular find or anything. Store and idea itself is great. Like many others have said, good prices for good items (if you're lucky, that is). And like so many others have said... terrible service (not by all their employees, just some). I feel like so many people here would love to come back if only that one lady stopped working. And like a few have said, they do sell fake items. There was a pair of coach shoes I bought for 45$ which turned out to be fake. I'm really not into brand name items so I had no idea it was a pretty obvious fake. It looks nothing like any of coach's shoe designs and the model name printed inside brings up 0 hits for shoes on the coach site. If you're going to buy something brand name a pretty hefty price, please know what you are doing! Or if you are going to sell something brand name here, please... know what you are doing! read more

My first time going here was okay. I brought 2 bags full of clothes. Many name brands like Brandy Melville, PINK, Hollister, and North Face. They were pretty picky and only picking out items they felt were trending and in style. Which was about 5 of my items. It's usually hit or miss for me at Crossroads when it comes to shopping (usually miss, but I have a limited imagination when it comes to outfits). I try to come by as I seasonally reassess my wardrobe because that also happens to be how they buy clothes (They have a neat link on their website that tells you what they're buying right now in case you're wondering: http://bit.ly/1HZNdjW). If you're looking to make an extra buck and you find yourself in a pinch, it's worth trying to sell clothes you don't wear. Whatever they don't take from you is usually safe to add to the donate pile (unless they happen to be buying for summer and your items are all winter). They have a good selection of mixed brands from Designer (Aritzia, True Religion, etc.) all the way to stuff from F21, Old Navy and the like. If you're trying to live a more sustainable lifestyle, or you're just trying to purge the old closet, Crossroads Trading Co. is definitely a good place to stop by. read more

Sellers: Avoid like the plague. You *might* get okay money for your quality items but most of the staff (although sweet) don't know brands sold by great places like anthro, sundance . . . really conservative Buyers: if you like stuff you can get at the mall but it's a few years dated, and really conservative style, with not much in terms of statement or non-vanilla pieces, good place. (Read: with the occasional unicorn, meh) Not a place for anything other than the same old, same old (which could be purchased new at an online sale). read more

Overall, it's pretty good and better than Plato's Closet behind the mall. They have a lot of "middle" brands, not super expensive but not super cheap. I've found a couple good things from Ann Taylor Loft, Target, and Nordstrom. I've also seen a lot of really nice things from Banana Republic, Gap, J. Crew, and Michael Kors for ~$10. Their selection can be a little odd, though...sometimes it's hard to figure out what sort of audience they're trying to tailor to. This can be especially frustrating when trying to sell clothes because they are incredibly picky. I gave this Crossroads 4-stars because they're: 1.) much cleaner and are well-lit compared to the San Carlos location, and 2.) they have a designer rack which makes it much easier to shop. I think I'm more fond of stores that are wide spread and neater to shop in. I have to agree that they don't have the variety like San Carlos but they are presentable and friendly. My friend and I bought in 5+ bags of clothing and they only ended up buying 2 pieces of clothing for $20. It kind of disappointed us because most of our clothes had brand new tags on them and were never used. (Not to mention some of our name brands are 7 for All Mankind, Hollister, American Eagle, Forever 21, H&M, etc. - So does that mean we're not trendy?) Anyway, they were quick and we were on our way to the San Carlos location where we made out with 70+ dollars on 11 pieces of clothes. =) I honestly prefer this store over the San Carlos store, but they lack the selection. Its one of those places you have to frequent to catch the cute stuff...sometimes im baffled at some of the items they did decide to take. But I have managed to find really cute cardigans, tops and dresses! I need items that are not going to make me cry when i get color or bleach on them.(hairstylist)!!! woohoo score!!! If you look right you can find some nice items even in the 50 percent off section where i have scored 4 dollar pieces!!! I would give it a 4 star if the staff were a little more friendly. I do keep to myself and zone out until I need a dressing room or when it's time to pay. Sometimes they are nice but mostly ehhh almost void of emotion. I always feel if all the staff is showing a bit of unhappiness it must be coming from higher up that may have made the staff a bit more misreable??? not sure only trying to understand. I just went here today after hearing about it from a friend and reading the reviews. I had gone to Buffalo once in Berkeley to sell items and had a very dissapointing experience so I was hoping this would be better. And it WAS! I went in with ten items (all either never worn or worn once). Brands ranged from Michael Kors, American Eagle, Target, Forever 21. They took 5 things: 1 really nice black/white crop Michael Kors jacket, 1 Target pink cardigan, Forever 21 tunic, Pink Nordstrom Jacket and something else I already forgot. I got around $30 in store credit which was what I was expecting. Actually it was pretty cool because I got all of that stuff really cheap so it was almost what I paid! I found some really cute cardigans/shirts and was a happy camper! GREAT way to update your wardrobe!! However, some of their prices were a little odd. I saw a target black dress on sale for $13 when it was at Target (on clearance) for $8.00. So sometimes the Forever 21/Target stuff is not a good deal here. But...I found some really cute Express/J Crew stuff that were a total steal. Also, they have name brand stuff like Juicy, Lucky Brand etc for way less than retail. Their jeans are especially cheap. All in all, good place. Would definitely trade here again but was not absolutely amazed. Pros: -Good trades, they actually take stuff unlike some people (cough Buffalo cough!) -Very organized store! -Nice workers -Especially cheap brand name jeans and adorable dresses. Having been to both Crossroads in San Jose, this by far is the better one. While both have good inventory we always seem to find better items here - and the staff is by far friendlier and more helpful while the San Carlos location definitely has more of an attitude. I have been to a few Crossroads and this one just didn't have a great selection of stuff, but it just could have been the season. It's located in a small strip mall next to a sushi joint and plenty of parking. Walking in I had a bag of stuff to sell and signed in. It only took about $10 mins to sort out my stuff and to only take two pairs of shoes - they are quite picky. But luckily I found a really cute sweater I wanted and just traded the cash for it. The service was a bit slow, disorganized but decently friendly. It's worth checking out as obviously the inventory is always changing. read more

They take: -shoes -belts -accessories -purses -clothes **make sure you bring the right clothes for the appropriate season** You can also find really good expensive jeans here. Today there was an old mama and an even older grandmama practically pushing me out of the way so that they could look at a rack of blue shirts. Guys, seriously, don't encourage them to shop here FOR THEMSELVES. It's really embarassing for us all. --------------------------------------- I definitely like this one better than the one on San Carlos. The location is much bigger and they have a lot more stuff. Just like any consignment store, you do have to dig through tons of crap before finding a true gem. I am shocked that so many bad reviews have been posted about this place! I can't say enough good things about the gals at Crossroads! Laura, the manager, is awesome! Always super friendly and helpful. I don't think it's fair to review based on the size of the store. They do very well for the space that they have to work with. I believe that the selection is great. I always find a great item that I love usually displayed on the wall. I have found some of my favorite pieces like my Francesco Biasia and Kooba bag as well as a pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans that are to die for! I have a choice to go to this Crossroads over the San Carlos location since I live in between the two, and I always choose Blossom Hill! read more

Crossroads is AWESOME! I love this place, especially in times when I end up not liking my clothes after only wearing them ONCE!!! I came here two weeks ago and brought clothes, jewelry and purses that I just didn't like anymore and came outta here with a fabulous pair of Juicy Couture capris and brown flats that weren't even worn yet! On top of that, I still got cash back! Can it get better than that?! I think not! What I think is hilarious is that I came back here last week and saw the purse that I sold in the store window!!! Honestly terrible customer service. Went in to browse didn't get a hi or even a glance in my direction. When I left I didn't get a bye. No one asked me if I needed help or if I was searching for anything in particular. The two cashier girls were just gossiping about the other workers and omg their trips to Bali or whatever. So annoying. Their clothes selection is honestly terrible. Ugly clothes that are over priced. I would rather go to forever 21 for new, CHEAPER clothes that actually look nice. The corner where the shoes are in the back of the store STINKS. Really gross. I can honestly say that I would never come back here.
