What a great hidden gem! The staff are quick, the food amazing - and the service is exceptional. I stumbled on this café about a year ago near my office and it's been a favorite of mine ever since. They also have a nice outdoor seating area out front (great for people watching). On a side note- if you're the type of person that likes to try fun new drinks- I can't suggest the Peanut Butter latte enough! Personally I was not impressed. I was taking a stroll and it seemed like a local place and said I have to try it due to the ratings. I ordered a French breakfast sandwich. Ok, the bread was warm but the ham was cold, making it unbalanced and not very appetizing. The order taker was not friendly, I got a smile and better service from what appeared to be either the waiter or cook because he came out to give me my sandwich where I was sitting. He spoke broken English and was very nice. I ordered an cappuccino and although warm, I think it could have been warmer. Not sure but maybe I should have ordered something else. I have updated my review based on the amazing response from the owner and barista. I had a misunderstanding with the barista regarding my drink. I said matcha she heard latte so I said matcha latte thinking she was correcting me. But when I commented in my review I felt unwelcome because I got the sense they were so busy to even try to pay attention unless you are a local , the owner replied less than an hour from the interaction and immediately asked their staff. It was a misunderstanding and the owner had an amazing response. I also want to mention the barista reached out to me. We had a misunderstanding but I appreciate the willingness to just make it right and clear misunderstandings. Because I requested to change it but she was busy. I thought it was because of my accent sadly I had some bad experiences but their reaction very changed my mind about their ethical way of handling a situation. I appreciate the time and consideration from the owner and the staff because when I came back it was not awkward. They made me a matcha drink which is awesome because I love coffee bud can't wave it due to health related reasons. This chicken pesto sandwich was the best I've had in a very long time! My boyfriend tried their popular ultimate breakfast sandwich, it was also really good. We were trying to find a breakfast-y spot and we ran across Crostini and Java. The food itself was so good, I would definitely go back here if we're in the area. The matcha latte felt like there was more milk than matcha, but the strawberry smoothie we had tasted good. It didn't taste like we were drinking something powdered. It seemed like it was made with fresh fruit and not a mixture. Parking to get to this area is mainly street parking but for a Friday morning, we didn't struggle to find a spot really close to the shop. There isn't too much indoor seating, so if you're trying to find a place to sit and try your food, you might not get a spot inside if there's a lot of people. There are also seats outside too. My partner and I got the French breakfast sandwich, "The Works" sandwich (everything bagel), a Matcha latte (sub almond milk), and a house coffee. Both of the sandwiches were great. The flavor is there, and they don't skimp (see the pictures)! The owner will tell ya it's the dijon sauce. The Matcha latte was good, and the house coffee was okay. If you're a dark roast lover, you will enjoy their coffee. However, that roast level isn't my personal preference. Overall, it's a very solid place in our neighborhood to grab a quick breakfast or a bite to eat with a hot or cold beverage. You have to try the Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich served on a buttery croissant, your choice of protein, fluffy egg, and a good mix of veggies: tomato, spinach, avocado with a maple dijon mustard. The sweetness of the maple dijon might throw some people off but I love my sweets and savory combined together. I was eating my way through Eater's 11 Outstanding breakfast sandwiches in SF and this was not on the list. This sandwich definitely takes the cake for one of the better sandwiches.
