Pretty cute little brunch cafe with ample outdoor seating along Orange ave. Coffee was good, but I don't believe I ever got a refill. Although, I don't drink my coffee that fast anyways, so the one full cup of coffee plus water was enough for me. Additionally, the waitress asked if I wanted either hot sauce or ketchup. I said ketchup, but I think she forgot about it. I was too antisocial and apathetic to even ask her again and just ate my food. Lol. I like the jars for the water. I got a Napolitano Joe's scramble. The eggs were soft and fluffy. There was a ton of spinach, which I am content with. However, there was not much garlic while I prefer a bit more. I also found the flavor of the sausage to be somewhat underwhelming. Hash browns were.....fine? Like, generically decent. I did enjoy the thicker sourdough toast and the higher quality jam.

One of my absolute favorites in all of Coronado. The specials are always delicious and change so often. The mimosas are the best you can find anywhere. They are MASSIVE. You can't find anything like these. They recently started making their own syrups for them. I love the California scramble and my daughter always get the pancake special which changes so often.

We absolutely love this place! The food is always fresh and delicious, service is super friendly, they always have specials and to top it off they have giant mimosas! We come here at least once a month for brunch. We love the outside seating and ambiance and they do a pretty good job of getting people in and seated. We love the hospitality that we get when we come here. They also have a great variety of coffees. You won't be disappointed coming here for brunch!

Given the location and the ratings I saw I was expecting a lot better from this restaurant. However we didn't have a great experience and the food was not as good as I thought it would be. We were seated outside as the majority of seating is outside. And while the weater the pleasant the flies certainly were not. I don't usually like to eat outside because I don't enjoy flies buzzing around while I am eating. While that is not the fault of the restaurant they didn't ask if we wanted to be seated inside or outside. So we were kind of stuck. The food is not very kid friendly and is aimed more at adults. The kid at our table ordered a Belgian waffle but it was way too big and he didn't end up finishing it. I ordered eggs Benedict and while the eggs were cooked perfectly the hollandaise sauce was so bland. The hash browns that came with were bland too and had zero flavor. My boyfriend ordered basic steak and eggs and he also wasn't impressed with lack of flavor in his food. Coronado has so many fun places to eat. If I ever come back I don't think I'll be returning here.

I would say overall the meal was good but nothing to write home about. The server was quick but not particularly friendly. I ordered the Denver omelette which is pretty standard from place to place. Not oily which I appreciated. It was a $1 up charge for egg whites which isn't bad compared to other Cali restaurants which charge 2-4 bucks which is crazy. Hash browns were decent, again not oily which I like. I upgraded my side to a single pancake. It was a large portion so that was appreciated but it was visibly burnt when she brought it. I didn't make a stink bc a. I didn't have time to wait for another and b. I knew I wouldn't finish it so I kinda ate around the char but the server should know better than to bring that out. That being said, it was good texture and decent flavor but again nothing to write home about. I did enjoy the homemade jam. Overall, for $30 breakfast... not sure I would be back and everything was good.

We spent the night at this hotel and wanted to try the restaurant. It is a charming little place that is currently has dinner service Thursday through Saturday. Theresa and Jorge were our fine dining servers and they were professional and friendly. They started this off with their freshly baked ciabatta bread. We told them to please only bring two pieces. They did and they are very large pieces. We split one and took the other home to enjoy later as it was excellent. It was slightly crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Next, we had a chicken vegetable soup and French onion soup. We enjoyed both. I ordered the scallops special with risotto and vegetables. Though I would have liked the scallops cooked 30 seconds longer, they were good and melted in your mouth. Don ordered Osso buco with pasta and vegetables. It was excellent and the lamb was tender. It seemed like a lot of locals come here and we can see why. This will be our "go to" place for dinner.

So we've seen this restaurant and the ambience of it is absolutely lovely. However.. I ordered the fettuccine and it was the most saltiest dish I've ever tasted in my whole life and I had only one bite. Had I ate the whole thing which was ridiculously disgusting I would've had a heart attack the same night. My boyfriend had the gnucci with crab and his pasta was so overcooked and hard, you could throw it through a car window and it might break. I tried one of his and I almost threw up. Told the owner about it and she walked away and never came back. It didn't matter because I no longer wanted to eat there and we just walked away. They have good lemons and water and that's all. Will never return. It was like always wanting to meet your favorite celebrity and you find out they are a prick. Yes that's how this experience was.

First off, it was just me. They had tables open when I arrived, yet I waited 25 minutes to be seated, for a one top. The server and food were time according, but the food was average and over priced. Plus the portions were small. I won't be back. read more

This hidden treasure is practically a hidden relaxing retreat with amazing ambience and delicious food. The staff, especially Jorge, is very welcoming and the food is to die for. I had a spinach salad and the limoncello for dessert! OMG, I died and went to Italian Heaven when I tried that dessert. Needless to say I will be coming back soon! read more

I must say.... in a day and age where quality and customer service meet a fantastic product is becoming more of a rarity..... look no further for a fantastic breakfast made with quality ingredients and served with a smile and genuine reflection that will earn my support from this point forward. My wife and I are escaping the hustle and bustle of a near by city and came to this modest location with nothing more than the desire for a good meal to start the day. In short... the food Incredible!...the service phenomenal and the overall experience was honestly the most pleasant in recent times.... and we eat out at least once per week. We had French toast with Berries and a Belgian waffle with fresh peaches and walnuts..... WOW.... great food certainly worth our time and money. Our next trip to Coronado Island will DEFINITELY include breakfast at this gem! read more

I am pretty sure I just had dessert (instead of breakfast). I ordered Banana Foster French Toast. 2 slices of French toast (4 halves) with a scoop of vanilla ice cream covered in a sweet sauce and warm bananas topped with whipped cream. Sooo good! Service was as sweet as the food. It was a bit on the pricey side for breakfast, but once and a while it's okay to splurge. Plenty of street parking available. read more

I've only been here for dinner, but every time I have the service and food has been amazing! This place is unbelievably reasonable in their prices, especially for being in Coronado. We ordered the crab cakes to start and they were the best crab cakes I've ever had. Fresh crab and this amazing sauce that comes on the side is indescribable. I also ordered the soup of the day which was curried potato. Oh.My.Goodness I wanted to take gallons of it home it was so amazing! During fall they have a pumpkin bisque that occasionally comes up as the soup of the day and it's to die for. Dinner we order the lamb shank which was one of the specials of the day. I'm not a huge fan of mushrooms but I had one with the lamb and I ate all the mushrooms on the plate! If you don't like lamb I also recommend the Shrimp Pietro; I've had that twice and the brandy cream sauce the shrimp is served in could basically be a soup for me it's that great. The wait staff is very nice and came to check on us frequently to make sure everything was going well. Will 100% be back again! Need to come in for breakfast someday! read more

This is a very cute looking place on main Coronado blvd. we had drove passed it a couple times and decided to give it a try as the reviews seemed pretty good. The service was grate( 5/5) and food was very mediocre (2/5). There were so many flies which was really surprising as we have never seen that in San Diego! They did have these fly repellents on each table which helped but still was a bit inconvenient. read more

I am really surprised by the positive reviews for this restaurant. The food was mediocre at best and the staff was downright awful. I have never experienced more rude and snobby people in my entire life. If you aren't deemed "worthy" then they will be extremely condescending and treat you like they are better then you. I recommend avoiding at all costs. read more

Oh my goodness, what a find. We looked at the Bistro menu online and thought take out might be a little challenging, but this restaurant pulled it off flawlessly. The dishes we ordered were plated beautifully or more correctly boxed up for us with love and care. Our Entree's, Salad and Dessert were wonderful, the Staff is kind and I highly recommend Crown Bistro. read more

I will never eat at an establishment so disrespectful of its customers. On Mother's Day, Crown Bistro decided to implement a special, limited menu. This is problematic by itself, since it went unannounced on the website and was not clear during the table wait that the restaurant was not offering its full menu. But the greatest insult to the customers came from an upcharge over their regular menu for the same items. It's such a privilege to eat at Crown Bistro to be offered a limited menu and pay more for it. There are many other fantastic breakfast places in Coronado that value their customers; go anywhere else. read more

We waited about 20 minutes to be seated, which was great considering it was a holiday weekend (7/5) and everywhere in Coronado seemed to be packed. It took about 10 minutes for the server to come by and when we wanted to order a sandwich, we were informed because it's a holiday weekend, they aren't doing lunch, which really doesn't make any sense to me. We were right next to a hostess or server for 30 minutes and they didn't once mention it. As my wife can't eat eggs, we had limited options and both went with lox and bagels platter. The lox were great but everything else including the bagel and other toppings we're unremarkable, especially at a near $18 price tag. We would maybe try this place again next time we're in Coronado, but it definitely will not be the first option. read more

My husband and I went here for the first time last evening, for our wedding anniversary. After reading some great reviews, we decided to try it. We were lucky enough to get a little table inside and there were no other customers there. I'm sure outdoor seating will be required again due to the pandemic. From start to finish, it was a fantastic meal. Our waiter Jorge went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable, starting off with complimentary glasses of bubbly. We shared two appetizers, I had a salmon entree while my husband had chicken. The food was fresh and very flavourful. The night ended with a complimentary dessert as well. Not one complaint! Nice little place in Coronado if you want breakfast. You can sit outside under an umbrella and enjoy the scenery. The food is good, but a bit out dated. The dinner menu needs a complete overhaul but the owner Laura doesn't want to change anything, it's a tribute to her late husband and chef Jerry. Every restaurant needs to revamp their menu every couple of years, looks like this one hasn't changed in a decade. read more

Fabulous Food, charming location and outstanding customer service! Laura, Edgar, Mattie and lovely Sophia offer Outstanding Customer Service. My husband is a special needs individual and they go out of their way to accommodate our needs. They not only meet our expectations; but exceed them time and time again. As a concierge at a major resort in Coronado, I have dined all over San Diego County and Crown Bistro is my all time favorite place to dine for breakfast! The food is delicious and in addition to their full menu they offer at least 7 specials! Dishes such as peach stuffed French toast, blueberry pancakes, artichoke heart omelettes, to name a few. Our favorites are their Huevos Rancheros along with Eggs Florentine. read more

Went here for a later breakfast; we ordered the fresh banana+ strawberry French toast topped with chocolate chips, eggs & hashbrowns, napolitano. Toast was super yummy! Napolitano was small portion, at least for my husband who eats more than I do if it weren't for me ordering French toast he wouldn't of filled up. Overall pretty good food & service. Only negative is how small it is and how small the tables can be, at least inside. read more

To start off we made a reservation and that did nothing as we still had to wait 10min. After getting seated they provided us with water that tasted odd. Don't get it twisted though food was immaculate! Cant complain about that although it took a while to receive the food it was worth it. Presentation on the food was beautiful. Very clean and nice. Great breakfast here and a dog friendly patio! The highlights were the homemade raspberry jam and the mimosas flight! Jam is on the table to use generously (thank you!) and the flights were tasty and beautiful- sour apple, watermelon and blue curaçao. I had eggs and corned beef hash and wheat toast that was hearty and dense. Hubby had crab Benedict that was fantastic! Service good and patio comfortable. Drawbacks: on busy orange Ave and shredded hash browns (they typical frozen style). Despite that I would most definitely return and would like to try lunch or dinner. As a bonus: crown inn is dog friendly so that was a find!!! read more

Came here to have brunch with some family and it's a little cafe attached to the hotel. I got the crab jack omelette special and added artichokes. The cheese was delicious and it was filled with fresh veggies and avocados, but not quite sure about the crab. The toast was good, especially with the homemade jam and so was the sausage and hash browns. They had a lot of good options, especially for their specials and the prices and service were good as well. I would definitely recommend coming here if you're in Coronado and looking for a good breakfast/brunch. read more

This place is tiny with fabulous service and great food. We came early to avoid the wait. The hubby ordered the french toast with sauteed peaches.... DELICIOUS! A popular dish and I can see why.... the brioche was great! I ordered the crab benedict which was also yummy. Made with real crab...oh yeah!! It such a cute little place for breakfast/brunch in Coronado island. However, because of the small place, the wait can get long. They are connected with the hotel. So if you stay here, you can come here for breakfast which is so convenient. All the photos on yelp looked so delicious. My BF ordered the crown's special with eggs, choice of bacon or sausage, hash brown and a side of toast. I recommend to get the sausages because they are the BOMB! It was cooked perfectly and they give u 3 pieces of sausage. I ordered the banana foster french toast. I was really debating between this or berry one. Since so many yelpers posted this on yelp, I knew I had to try this one and save the other one for later! 4 pieces of french toast, topped with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. In my opinion, it was a little to sweet because of all the syrup. This plate is huge! It is enough to fee 3-4 people. Great for sharing! I loved it but after eating almost half of this plate, I was getting tried of eating it. I love how they make their jams on the house! They put them in cute little maison jars. Jams taste pretty good and is not too sweet. Parking is street parking. It is a nice place to walk to the park which is like 3 blocks away after eating all these yummy calories! read more

This place was one of the cutest little restaurants I have ever been to. My friends and I were seated outside (because we asked to) and given our menus promptly. We were tourists and were looking for an all American kind of breakfast. The menu was very diverse and gave us a lot of options. I was in the mood for a little of everything and they definitely had dishes that had a little bit of everything. The service was quick and our waitress was kind and attentive. The missing star is due to its lack of vegan options. One of my friends is a vegan and she didn't have a lot of options. She ended up getting an oatmeal, which was good, but definitely not filling enough for the price. All in all, I would still go back if I was ever back in San Diego. read more

Probably one of the best French toast platters I have ever had. I ordered the very berry French toast, and it did not disappoint! I also ordered a side of bacon to offset the sweet of the breakfast. Seriously one of the best spots I've ever had breakfast at and the prices are amazing! read more

The food was fine. However, the service made this experience very unwelcoming. My wife, daughter and I waited about an hour to be seated after we checked in. We were told that we would receive a call when the table was ready. About 5 parties that arrived after us got seated and received their meals soon after. Not sure what the deal was. I would say maybe the staff wasn't trained but being In coronado I am almost certain I know what it was. read more

Went here for breakfast. My son had the French toast which he enjoyed. I had the eggs Benedict which was good. The sitting area outside was pretty and well taken care but it is on a busy street. All in all good place for breakfast. read more

Finally tried this place out! The food was quite fantastic. The only negative I would say is that there is like 20 rules posted outside the restaurant....they take themselves way too seriously for such a quaint place. Crazy! I'm still glad that I tried it. Nearly three decades ago, chef Jerry Tovar had the opportunity to purchase a quaint restaurant space nestled in the Crown City Inn on Orange Avenue. The cozy setting was perfect for the Tovar Family vision of a Coronado bistro where locals would become regulars; where consistently good food and a warm, inviting atmosphere brought patrons back again and again. Since its opening in 1994, the Crown Bistro has become just that. Both tourists and locals fi ll twinkling tables for cozy date nights with sumptuous food, and sit back under the happy yellow umbrellas for jovial Saturday and Sunday brunches. Many locals will tell you that this little bistro is one of the island's gems; perhaps even a celebrated relic in Coronado's ever-changing restaurant scene.

Blessed with a pleasant bay view, the seemingly automatic customer base of the always busy Coronado golf course, and the disposable income of this affluent community, you would think that this indoor/outdoor setting would be a perfect place for brunch or lunch at 11am to noon on a beautiful Saturday, but our post-round meal was accompanied by lots of empty tables, empty space, and empty vibes. Although my salad had good flavor, it was surprisingly small. My friend ordered a sad-looking tuna melt that he said was the worst he had ever had. Another friend said the same thing about his old fashioned, which had a bizarre red tint to it that indicated an over-abundance of bitters or perhaps a flat-out wrong ingredient like Campari. Either way, it's clear that the bartender did not know how to make a very simple classic cocktail. The service was also abysmal. Although the place was far from busy, his terrible old fashioned didn't arrive until after the entrees, which themselves took quite a long time to arrive. And this was after my friend had to remind the server that he hadn't received his drink. Also, upon inquiring if I could substitute chicken for the turkey in my salad, he enthusiasticly said yes without informing me that that the substitution would be a five dollar upcharge, which came as an unwelcome surprise on the final bill. Finally, the chairs are horribly uncomfortable, and for someone with a bad back, sitting there for an hour was not a pleasant experience. All of this probably explains why business looked so paltry on a such a lovely Saturday. With such a great setting, the Coronado golf course really deserves better. I'm being generous with the two stars, but it's safe to say that our post-round meals and drinks will be enjoyed elsewhere from now on.

Great for a weekend lunch or brunch. Just do yourself a favor and sit outside. If you can't sit outside it really isn't worth the trip. This being San Diego I had the eggs (huevos) and beans. The brunch is awesome. That's without a question! They also have other menus which are equally good. It's hard to get a seat for brunch on the weekends, but then the place is totally empty. Another suggestion, do a later brunch, closer to lunch, and you'll get a seat more easily. read more

Best brunch place on the island, but good luck finding a table. This place is small and cozy. Highly recommend the french toast. They also have a dinner menu, but no one ever goes there for dinner. read more
