A nice lil jewel located down the street from the neighborhood. Plus it's one late till 2am, so it's the ideal spot for late night cravings. Last time we ordered a lamb gyro platter, a lamb gyro sandwich and some tenders with French fries. While the quality may not be the absolute best, it's more about convenience and the ease of finding food when all else is closed. Super excited to finally try this place out after my friends have been raving about it for months. The food definitely lives up to the hype and is much better than similar restaurants I've been to in the Rutgers area. Where else can I find delicious food for less than $10? Plus the portions sizes are huge (can definitely last you 2-3 meals). When we arrived, it was quite busy but we were able to order quickly. We had to wait a while but that's to be expected since we came at peak dinner time. I really liked the huge mirror on the wall (great for taking your BeReal or something lol) but keep in mind that if you want to eat here, there's only 2 or 3 tables that are pushed together so it's not a lot of room inside to eat. Located 5 minutes from Livingston Campus, this is a great spot for a college student on a tight budget. For $8.99 you can get a plentiful platter of chicken, fish or lamb with a can of soda. I went with the fish and was not disappointed. It was flaky and fresh, and paired great with the white sauce. The platter comes with lots of rice and some salad on the side. I would've liked for there to be a bit more lettuce , but it was a reasonable amount. The man working the counter was friendly and the food came out quick. Yesterday I ordered 3 pieces of fried chicken, dark meat only: One thigh, one drumstick and 1 wing. I received two breast's and a wing. When I called the person who answered told me to come by today and I would be given my correct order. That did not happen! The salesperson refused even though I showed him a series of the same Uber order. I took the time to drive over there for nothing. He acted like I was trying to get a free meal! I'm very disappointed by the way I was treated, especially since it wasn't an Uber problem but a reading problem of the employee in the restaurant who took the Uber order without reading the "dark meat only " request. Tried every Mediterranean platter in New Brunswick and this spot EASILY takes the crown. King of Gyro's chicken platter is decent, but the chicken is shredded to bits and gets carried by the sauce. Crown's chicken platter, for under 10$, has great portions of CHUNKED and SEASONED chicken. Really delicious, and was a hero late night snack as well. Doesn't look much on the outside, but the food is for sure delicious. They offer great halal food. My personal favorite would be the shrimp platter and lamb platter. The shrimp platter is covered with their popcorn shrimps. If you want more meat and rice you can always ask them not to put salad in your platter. Don't sleep on the fried chicken either, it is highly underrated! It is also very ideal for students because of the affordable price. Overall great value and food. This place may seem a bit sketchy at first, but don't be fooled. To be completely honest, I would give this place a 5 star because I love their food. I always get their lamb platter which also comes with a free can of drink. This place is really affordable and filling and opens really late, so it's a perfect place to go whenever I'm craving their food. However, I decided to take off a star because of their service sometimes. One time, I went to this place around 1PM. There was no one behind the front counter and I just saw a person grilling meat in the back. I stood there for solid 5 minutes and sat down for another 5 minutes hoping that the guy would come out. He didn't come out to the front until I got up again, waved my hands, and said hello. He just told me to wait 15 minutes and went to the back. Even though this may not be entirely his fault, I just wasted 30 minutes waiting for my food. It would've been better if he checked the front for people every minute or so. One of my friends also told me a story about how the guy made a racist comment at my friends. We thought it was funny, but some people may not think so. Nevertheless, I still recommend this place because of their food. Don't expect to receive such good services, but it's definitely worth trying out their food (especially their platters). read more

The chicken and the sides were all sitting under the heat lamp, and while the flavor of the chicken was good, it was a bit too dry. The beef patty had a very flaky crust, but also dry. Mac & cheese was decent, not too bland. - philly cheesesteak...made in the kitchen, not premade and sitting under the lamp. By the time we got home, the bread got too soggy, and the bread-to-steak-onions-cheese ratio was not good...too much bread - chicken & lamb rice platter...the rice was orange, coriander seeds were visible in the dish, with lettuce, onions, and tomatoes drizzled with lots of white sauce Overall the food items were okay, but the person behind the counter was super friendly, so we will be returning to try the other items, and hopefully we can catch some fresh-out-of-the-fryer chicken next time. read more

I was hesitant at first due to the reviews, but since some of the reviews were old, I figured I'd give this a try. I've also tried some of the other chicken and rice places on Stelton, but usually the prices were easily $9+ and had smaller portions. I've missed eating a filling chicken and rice meal ever since my days eating from the chicken and rice food truck in Boston near the Copley area and also the chicken and rice from NY. I actually enjoyed the not-so-famous chicken and rice trucks that were selling boxes for $5-$6 back then. I wish I had taken a picture first, but the portion of rice, chicken, and white sauce was generous enough. I can't comment how it sits in my stomach since I just devoured it quickly, but all I can say is that the flavor was on spot. My wife and I both agreed that the taste and portions were above our expectations. I definitely plan to frequent this place more often to get my chicken and rice fix. read more
