We spent the whole day at the Grand Canyon. This wasnt far from our hotel, and being a Sunday in September, one of the only places open. It looked fun with a very casual menu and the smoker smelled awesome. We sat outside where there was live music. They lit fire pits, too. First off, the waitress says if we want a soda or water, the soda fountain is inside and to get it yourself. This seemed odd, but ok. I got us water. We ordered drinks and nachos. My husband got a strawberry daiquiri that he said was so sweet it may as well be a milk shake. I got a Floradora which was pretty delicious. The nachos were amazing!! We wish we ordered 2 of them for our meals, because the pulled pork on them was tender and flavorful. We ate the whole thing. I ordered a chicken sandwich with onion rings. Chicken was bland, but at least the bun and the veggies were fresh. The onion rings were nothing special. I should've gotten fries. My husband got a bacon cheese burger. He was not impressed. He said it was obvious the meat wasn't fresh. All in all, the meal wasn't bad. It may have been better if we stuck to brisket or ribs. That pulled pork was the best part of our meal and the only reason its not 2 stars. The waitress, although very friendly and helpful, disappeared for quiet a while. We assessed our bill on our own and it seemed a bit higher than we anticipated. However, they don't print you out a check. They tell you what it is and wait for payment. As cool as this place looks from the outside, I wish we found someplace else to eat. If you can't have a decent burger with a smoker outside, than don't offer it. (I'm sorry for the red glow of my pics, but that is lighting on the patio at night.) **Edited to 1 star. We walked by and saw a notice at the hostess station stating that they are charging a 6% service fee. This explains why the bill seemed higher than it should've been. We came here after a day at Bearizona...the smell of the smoker is what drove us in! Cute restaurant with a 50s feel. When we walked in, I saw everyone drinking these giant bloody Mary's and I knew I had to have one...it did not disappoint!! We also had the ribs, brisket, half chicken, and chicken fingers (for the kiddo)...I thought the bbq was great! The coleslaw was delicious, potato salad was so good, and I loved the beans! Look closely- no one exiting the restaurant has a smile. I had high hopes for this place but honestly, I wouldn't bother eating here. Yes, it's a tourist stop, yes it's large, and yes- patience is required. We were sat right away (good), we waited for 15 minutes to see our server for the 1st time (), we waited another20 minutes to give our order. Then we waited 62 minutes to receive our food. There was no line, there were empty tables- what gives? Burger was ok- not worth the $18. My pulled pork sandwich was a weird gray color and flavorless with a dollop of gross bbq sauce on top of a soggy SOGGY onion ring. Started in on my sandwich- it was cold and the meat had been sitting on the bun so long before we were served that it was slimy, mushy, and inedible- definitely not able to be picked up even. Which explains the soggy onion ring. Fries were good though but basically tasted like McD's. As big as the place is- there is one men's room and one women's with a total of only three toilets and one urinal. Although we refused to let onto our kids how bad things were going so they could enjoy themselves, I think the vibe and the waiting just put a huge cloud over our next leg of travel. The walls have some cute memorabilia but it's all dirty and dusty so just so unpleasant to look at. Advice: skip it! read more

This was our first stop in Williams, and it did not disappoint. The Route 66 memorabilia is everywhere. The nostalgia for an old diner is real here. It is also a spacious diner. Several indoor sections and a big patio. But it was the smell of the smoker that caused me to stop and get out. We all ordered brisket and we all ate it all! I had the birsket plate. Lots of brisket! The beans were not canned generic ones. They were tasty. Cornbread was not dry. All good! My partner had a baked potato loaded with brisket, which came on the side. It was a meal! I snagged a few of my son's fries from his brisket sandwich kids meal. They were seasoned and delicious. My son enjoyed the arcade while we waited for the food. I really liked this place! After a long day of travelling and taking in the views of the Grand Canyon (south rim), we were getting a little hangry. After checking Yelp, we settled on Cruiser's Caffe 66. Why? Idk the vibes were just speaking to me. It was a busy Saturday, so there was a wait. It wasn't so bad though, because of the live entertainment in the outside patio. The Staff: Thank you for your excellent service! Very friendly, and fast! I think we waited between 5-10 mins from ordering to receiving our meal. The food: I ordered the Pulled BBQ Pork Sandwich with sweet potato fries & the Grand Canyon mule (prickly pear). I'm very particular about my mules, and this just exceeded my expectations! Let's just say I usually don't finish my meals, no matter how good they are, but I don't think I left a single bit left on my plate. Maybe I was THAT hungry, but also, maybe the food was THAT good. Oh! Definitely recommend getting the jalapeño poppers to start! You'll thank me later! First place we dined here on our first day , great place inside , outside live music and in game room . The smell of the outdoor smoker lured us here with promises of real BBQ , classic and pure . We were not disappointed I had the Giant angus smoked burger with smoked brisket , came piled high with slaw and pickles and cheese , and side of fries . It was a pure 10 out of 10 . My wife had the smoked brisket sandwich with onion rings , also 10 of 10 . Walking along Route 66 in Williams, I followed the sound of live music and the smell of BBQ to Cruiser's Cafe 66. This is a cool spot that brings you back to the 50's with all of the neon lights and period paraphernalia. The restaurant is spacious and has plenty of room inside and outside. There is also a huge gift shop connected to it as well. As expected for a diner, the menu has burgers and sandwiches. Aside from that, the menu also has BBQ and steak as well, which are made in a huge smoker outside. The smell was part of what brought me in so I ordered the BBQ sampler plate, which consists of smoked sausage, brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, and a beef rib. The portion size is a really good value for it's price of $24.99 since there is enough food to feed two people. I was really hungry, and I was not able to finish the food. However, I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. The meats were pretty dry and did not have much taste. The service was lackluster as well. Cruiser's Cafe 66 is a neat place to stop at since there is a bar and live music, but the BBQ is a huge letdown. I might come here again for the ambiance, but I would either skip on the food or test my luck with a burger or something simpler to make than BBQ. There is a lot of potential with the location and ambiance so I hope Cruiser's steps it up with the food and service. In the Valley of Arizona at Tony Roma's whom used to be in business, had wonderful ribs, they can't stand out from Cruiser's. A long drive, yet worth the miles and the money! We sat quickly, order was taken quickly. Cranberry and Walnut Salad, soup, cheeseburger, and mozzarella sticks. Two tables sat about 10 minutes after us and received their food before us. A expediter came out to us with the wrong order, she asked what we ordered, we told her, and she said sorry and left. We were debating on leaving the money to pay for the mozzarella sticks, but then our food came. Didn't see our server until she delivered the food. I've had lots of BBQ in my life. This was by far one of the worst places I've been to, ever. The bourbon chicken salad had a vile flavor profile. The jalapeño poppers were barely average. My pork ribs and the carnivore sandwich were just... wrong. The best adjective that describes the meat they gave us is this: FUNKY. And not in a good way, either. It was funky in the worst possible ways. We ate out front on their patio, and some guy was out there singing sad songs that made even him cry. This is an old but spunky place. We were here about 730 on March 17th. Waited for 40 minutes for a seat. In all fairness it's a small place. The people working there were very kind and helpful. We order mozzerella stick which were super delicious. I loved that they had diet dr pepper. My kids got burgers. Rarely can go wrong with a burger. My hubby and I shared a BBQ sampler. We had a love/ hate relationship with this platter. They advertised stuff is smoked daily. I'm not sure. The sausage is okay. Reminded me of a hot dog more than sausage. The beef rib was very disappointing. I know that beef ribs are hit and miss but this one at literally a very burnt end ans not a sliver of meat. Nothing at all. The. I give this a solid meh! Buddy of mine were walking around route 66 and they had a nice guy singing outside and it looked pretty crowded comfortable seating and we said why not. We sat and she said it would be a 20 minute wait as she was saying this two tables were leaving the outside seating and we showed her and said we'd love to take one of those two she says let me get those cleaned and you could have them great. 20 minutes later lol we're still waiting so maybe she was right after I can't rush these things. The milkshakes are awesome the service was horrible the barbecue was good but I can't get past the service there. People came before us got served after us people came after us got served before us. I ordered ribs and a sausage sausage was really good the ribs were frankly a little over smoked for my taste. They served barbecue sauce with the chicken but not the ribs really? I asked for some barbecue sauce she says oh of course and it never came. When we were ready to leave I had literally had one rib I had left the entire half slab untouched because I really needed to have some sweetness to offset the smoke. My family chose the Cruiser's Cafe 66 because the old time diner look caught our attention as we were going through the area. We were just as much​ impressed with the dining area. The only thing missing for the genuine Diner feel was the wait staff on skates. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We didn't have to wait to order or receive our food. Great pit stop for lunch on our way from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas. I can be a picky eater on road trips because I eat vegetarian/mostly vegan and choices are obviously limited on the road in Arizona. This place had one of the few vegetarian options, aka a beyond meat burger, not just sad veggies thrown together. Ya boy needs his protein, ya know. Burger was good. My wife and I had dinner here and it was very good. We shared a BBQ mix platter of smoked sausage, beef, and pork ribs that were absolutely amazing, BBQ beans that had a chili like taste that was great as well. They also have a large outside eating area that sits right against the street and sidewalk. All of the tables have large umbrellas to block most of the sun. Had the ambiance and decor of this place not been so cool, plus the great live music out on the patio, I probably would have given it 3 stars. It was a tough call. I was really surprised how busy it was on a Monday mid-afternoon. The check-in process and waiting area was a bit discombobulated and confusing. When our waitress came, she informed us that the beef ribs and smoked sausage weren't available because they weren't done in the smoker yet. Whether they Just had poor timing or sold out sooner than expected and had to make more I'm not sure. Luckily I wanted the brisket and Andy wanted the Arizona burger so it was all good. They were all out of the Black Iron IPA that Andy wanted, though, so he went with the Horseshoe Bend Ale, which was a superbly refreshing beverage. I also really liked the Floridana, a perfect mix of gin, fresh lime, raspberry chambord, and ginger ale. I ordered the brisket sandwich but asked for no bun, since they don't have any gluten-free bread options, with a side of coleslaw. Andy got the Arizona burger with the upgrade of sweet potato fries. When the order came, from a kid who was not our waitress, he said chili burger and brisket. We didn't think it was ours since the brisket was on a bun and had sweet potato fries and coleslaw but the kid insisted it was our order. The burger he said was a chili burger was obviously the Arizona because we could see it had the jalapeño and pepperjack and no chili. When we pointed that out he said he didn't actually know what the name of the things are. He just called it a chili burger because he saw a 'chili' on it (ie the jalapeno). Smh. I explained that i said no bun though and didn't order fries and asked if he was sure it was ours and he said yes. So i just took the bun off. The waitress didn't come by to check on us until we were pretty much done. The brisket itself was tender and pretty good but their 'housemade bbq' tasted grisly like cheap ketchup. I hate ketchup and am glad there wasn't a ton on there. The coleslaw was really good though. Also the sweet potato fries were yummy but came with a weird super-sweet sauce that tasted like marshmallow fluff with cinnamon that had somehow been thinned out. Neither of us like it. We prefer our fries savory. Andy loved his burger but was literally red faced with tears rolling down his cheeks because it was a full hot jalapeño that hadn't been deseeded and was insanely spicy. I had a bite and my mouth and throat were burning the rest of the time no matter what else I ate to try and quench it. So I would say don't expect the best service here but you may want to check it out just for the atmosphere. It's a cool, kitchy route 66 stop. read more

I was looking for a dog friendly place and found this place. I'm so happy they were accommodating. You can get your own soda right away inside. They have amazing brisket plates. I'm usually not a fan of coleslaw but this place did it right! I also got a delicious Coke float! Yum! The portions are big so you can definitely share or take some for leftovers. Walked up to no waiting. Sat outside to enjoy the sunset breeze. Ordering took a long time, our waitress was friendly but service was very slow. Mom went to see if we could move inside because our food still hadn't come and it would get cold fast as the temps had dropped a bit more. The fries were great, loved them! I can't speak to the coleslaw because neither of us like it. The corn bread had a hint of sweet and was good. The beans were straight up canned ranch style beans, I like those, so ok the potato salad was ok. Needed seasoning, but was edible. The meats.. the brisket was good, the pulled pork had a hint of smoke, the sausage was a little bit dry but ok, the beef rib tastes like it was boiled and finished in an oven. No smoke, no bbq flavor just meh. The pork rib was ok, but my mom swore it tasted like beef. Still no smokey flavor..just meh. On the whole it was just meh. In the end, the food was meh.. ok, not horrible but I feel we can find better. The service was nice, but very slow.
