Love me some Crushcraft Thai! It's the best fast casual place I love to frequent whenever I'm back in Dallas. It's all about the vibe - fun interior, ample seating, sauce bar, and awesome food. My husband found this place for a quick bite after my doctors appointment, and we have been returning to the location time and time again on our own and with friends. I can never say no to the Pad Thai. It's ripping hot, the flavor is true and authentic (I see a lot of amateur places using ketchup or some gross glaze instead of tamarind), and the portion is enough for 2 meals. Love the textural contrast with the peanuts, cabbage and the roasted chili I sprinkle on top. My husband ordered the Khao Soi - he loved it, and they even gave him extra rice at no extra cost to sop up the last bits of sauce which gained a huge plus from us! What a bummer. I've had Crushcraft Thai Street Eats bookmarked for ages mostly due to the decor and the fact that I love Thai food. I have perfectly good Thai restaurants 5 minutes from me - why drive 30 minutes to Uptown for Crushcraft? Why indeed... Glad I was finally able to come here to snap some photos of the ceiling but that's pretty much the only reason why I was glad. That and the fact that they have unlimited crushed red chili peppers, chili oil, and other spicy condiments near the drinks fountain. I opted for the Khao Soi which is a noodle "soup" dish in which the soup is a sort of coconut milk curry and the noodles are a mixture of crispy noodles and flat egg noodles. The dish definitely had the aesthetics. The crispy noodles added a very unique look and were enjoyable to eat. While the curry itself had an ok flavor - the texture of the egg noodles were disappointing. I usually prefer my noodles al dente and these egg noodles were so mushy and easily broke apart. The chicken was very dry. Maybe I got the wrong dish. Maybe I should have opted for something less adventurous like the drunken noodles. But if you're going to have a small menu, every dish better be on its game. The Thai tea wasn't bad and had just the perfect tea to milk ratio so it wasn't overly sweet. Luckily, Crushcraft's prices are on the lower end despite being in uptown and the portions are decently sized. It's just unfortunate the food was mediocre. read more

Absolutely love the fresh ingredients used. The meals are homemade style and leave you feeling good. I ordered the drunken noodles and added steak (to me, it's very spicy). The noodles are heavenly! You will pay the extra charge around $ 3 or 4 for steak or chicken. I had no idea it's spicy. I had to swap with my spouse. So make sure to ask for mild, if that's your preference. Absolutely loved the mini tomatoes but would have preferred broccoli instead of bell peppers. The other order was the fried egg and rice with 4 oz chicken. It's not spicy or greasy and the cucumber is refreshing. I did not try the egg. I loved the containers. Spring rolls were SO good with a perfect sweet chili side! Fast casual Thai with Texas sized portions for a lower than average price. Sure the tables were sticky and the service was unenthusiastic, but the end product was worth it. My chicken phad kee mao filled me up for $8. They even have a hot sauce bar including sriracha, chili oil, and spiced fish sauce. That being said, I've had a couple of things on the menu including the red curry, drunken noodles, and Thai fried rice...yet the only one I get time and time again is the drunken noodles (the rest were eh). Love that there is a spice bar where you can add various forms of condiments/spices to your dish. The portions are generous and prices are great (most less than $10)! The atmosphere is cute and trendy but it lost two stars for cleanliness. As much as I love the spice bar, I only really use the dry spices because the rest of the containers have dried sauce all over them. As for the service, it is definitely not bad and the employees aren't rude, but they aren't all about the customer service either. Once, I ordered 2 (different) dishes to go, picked it up and brought it back home. When I got home, I realized that they messed up my order and gave me two of the same items instead. I called back and notified them of the issue and they acted slightly annoyed and told me that I had to come back if I wanted the correct meals. Eventually, the manager granted me a refund for one of the dishes but I did not hear a single apology during that phone call! Not the ideal experience but the convenience is hard to beat. read more

The restaurant looked completely empty when I arrived around 8pm on a friday night. My guess is that this establishment gets a lot of business in the late night hours when everyone gets hungry after drinking & dancing in Uptown. Stays open until 3am on Fri-Sat! The menu is simple and carries most of the basic Thai dishes. It's an open kitchen concept where you can see the cooks making your food and the ingredients are lined on the shelves throughout the restaurant. Some of the ingredients were pretty basic which can be found at the Asian grocery and even ingredients I use to make my own homemade curries, but they totally fooled me when I ate it. We ordered the panang curry (which comes with angus beef) no option for chicken or pork which is a bummer. I prefer chicken in my curries. Pad Thai with chicken, papaya salad for sharing, and pork + beef meatballs. All dishes were served in recyclable containers (thumbs up!). I would recommend all these dishes, except for the meatballs. I didn't care for the sweet sauce that it came with. The papaya salad was so yummy and had just enough spice. I was surprised they didn't ask what level of spice we wanted om our dishes. But if you like the heat you can stop by the self serve sauce area and fill up on green chilis, satay, red pepper powder and Sriracha. I would definitely come back here if I was looking for some quick thai. read more

I never noticed this place until last night. My friends and I were trying to get a quick bite to eat before a night full of drinking and we settled on this place. It's like a fast food Thai place and it's actually pretty cheap. I assumed it being in uptown it would be expensive. The decor inside is pretty cute and I think on the weekends their open until 3am for your late night drunk cravings. I got the drunken noodles. And it was pretty good! It's a little on the spicy side but I think that just adds more flavor. I ate half and saved the rest for later. It tasted just as good after a late night of drinking, maybe even a little better. I tried this place out for the first time and overall it was a good experience and I'd come back, but just a few things I'd like to point out: Pros: - Tom kha soup with chicken was tasty - roll was a decent size, tasted good and fresh with the sauce as well, I just got one but I think 2-3 would be better. - total price $6.46 is not bad by itself Cons: - I came here because their menu online showed soup with 3 rolls for 7.99. When I called, the lady said they don't offer that special anymore and she also seemed irritated when I was asking about prices. A paying customer wants to know what they're paying- we're not all made of money ‍ - the portions were pretty small. The cup was less than 8 oz of soup and the single roll costed $2.46 by itself which was kind of ridiculous. - considering the small portions, I think $4-5 would've been more reasonable. - I wasn't that hungry to begin with which was why I wanted to keep my order small. But if you come here keep in mind that you have to spend around $11+ to be satisfied with the portion size. So it's just average when it comes to pricing. read more

I wanted to love this place but it was honestly a very underwhelming experience. We tried the papaya salad, a fresh roll, drunken noodles, and the green curry. The green curry was our favorite it had a nice flavor and was quite spicy which we loved. The drunken noodles were just ok, not enough noodle and the chicken was dry and not as flavorful as I would've liked. Papaya salad was refreshing but none of the flavors actually stood out. The fresh roll was flavorless, definitely pass on this one. The food was not bad but there was nothing special about it. Like I said, nothing memorable here. I've been here multiple times on my nights out with friends in the uptown area, but this time, I went for dinner on a Wednesday around 7pm. The restaurant got packed very quickly, and there was a line out of the door. I usually go for the green curry (which, by the way, is very spicy, and you cannot choose your spiciness level, so beware!). This time, I went for the phat tai with the chicken, tofu, and egg + peanuts. It was so very delicious, but I couldn't finish all of it. The interior design of the restaurant is very casual and cute. The colorful streamers make for a lively atmosphere, which is very fitting, since every time I've been there, it's been quite lively. It was so that the reviews and photos depict. There is a menu board near the entrance, and in fast casual fashion, you order at the beginning of the line and then pay at the end. I ordered the OG Phat Thai with tofu. The tofu was perfectly cooked and the entire meal was delicious. I found the portion to be large and even took half of it to go. I loved the decor inside, with shelves featuring the ingredients that they feature in the menu items. We sat out on the pup friendly patio that overlooked the pavilion of the shopping center. Flavor explosion in my mouth! A coworker had recommended this place quite some time ago and I only now decided to give it a try. I ordered the Krao-pao. It was amazing! I also had a Thai tea and it was surprisingly not overly sweet; just the perfect balance for my taste. The ambiance of the place is really nice with the various colored cloth hanging from the ceiling. Lots of singles, couples, and families were dining when I visited. Prices are extremely fair! I like my food on the spicy side so this place is perfect. Be sure to read the menu carefully to ensure you pick a non-spicy item if you cannot handle the heat! It feels like I'm outside, with all the open space and bright cloths of colors hanging from the ceiling. The vibe here is definitely very chill, and the decor makes you feel relaxed. I always order the Drunken Noodles! I think that the dishes closely resemble authentic Thai food (most of the time). Not only is it delicious, the plating is usually cute as well! We came on a Friday night, and it wasn't very busy. You order at the counter, and they call your name for pickup. The menu and the location are small. The occupancy sign said 85. Anyway, I ordered the kra pao which is ground pork, red and green bell peppers, onions, basil and I think kale. I ordered mine without chili peppers. My husband and daughter got the fried rice. It was made with chicken, and thoroughly enjoyed it. We also ordered a side of mini egg rolls. Everything was really good and reasonably priced. For a family of 3 with a beer and 2 drinks we only paid $40. I would have given them 5 stars, but the only alcohol they have is beer, and I don't drink beer. I will definitely return. read more

What a colorful and casual restaurant. I came here for lunch before heading back to Houston. Their menu is concise. You just order and pick up your food at the counter. I got the Thai hot Pad Kee Mao noodles, tofu fries, and Tom Kha soup. Of the three dishes, the soup was my favorite. Such rich lemongrass flavor, nice tang from the lime juice, and a creamy texture from the coconut milk. I loved it. The noodles were a close second place. Spicy as hell, generous amount of basil, and aromatic noodles from the soy sauce and hot wok. I just didn't like that they added a ton of bell peppers. I may ask them to switch out the peppers for more basil instead. The most disappointing dish was the tofu fries. It was just fried and flavorless. The dipping sauce it came with was also too sweet. This is a popular lunch spot so I wanted to try them for myself. I saw some negative reviews so I was a little hesitant, but after my first bite of the flat noodles I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a thai tea and flat noodles with chicken. My friend had the chicken fried rice. Both were large enough portions and allowed for left overs. My default thai dish to order is Drunken Pad Thai Noodles and they had it here. I have been here twice and BOTH times it has been exceptional. It is greasy and I wouldn't say it is the most healthiest restaurant but I would definitely eat here for a cheat meal. The staff is quite friendly and wont rush you to order at the counter. I love the mini indoor pavilion that you can eat at. It's beautifully decorated by colorful ribbons that hang on the top of the ceiling. The floor to ceiling Windows makes the room feel warm and very casual. Parking can be a pain because of the location but they do have a garage to the right that is tucked away and provides space to park besides the few reserved in front.
