Made a short weekend wedding getaway in Dallas and this place was steps away from our hotel. Ambiance: 3 Stars when you enter into the the eatery, your are greeted with a modern Thai Lao vibe and open concept seating. There limited tables so you might have to wait. You pick up a menu, order at the counter and grab a table. An "auntie or uncle" or helper will bring your drinks and food. Service: a locally family owned restaurant, you know you will get decent and authentic food. I can see the aunties and uncles cooking away in the back. And we had an opportunity to be taste testers for a new dish they were working on. Food: 4 Stars Though the menu is somewhat limited, the most recognizable menu items smelled wonderful. Due to our short time before the wedding we opted to get following: Pad Thai w fried Tofu. 4.25 Stars This dish was flavorful, and overly sweet. However the tamarind sauce was off a little bit. It was Thai hot but could have been more spicy. Pad See Ew Pork 4.5 Stars The sauce was done perfectly and the noodles were al dente and soaked up the sauce. This what the dish is supposed to be. A sweet umami soy sauce based. The pork was tendered, moist and thinly sliced. Experimental Dish: The Fuwafuwa pancakes were a dish they wanted us to try but the pancake batter kept breaking apart because the batter was supposed to be fluffy and light. I love Thai food so I am always looking for a new spot to get their take on some of the dishes I like. The owner is actually who waited on us. From what I witnessed and it was a good thing is she personally looked over the preparation of our food which contributed to the long wait time. But I wasn't upset. You place an order at the register and they give you a number to take to your table. Despite it being self-service for the most part, the staff was nice to go around refilling everyone's drinks. The food was absolutely delicious with each dish having so much flavor. We ordered green curry with seafood and crab fried rice. Beware that the spice level was not consistent throughout the dish as the curry was decently more spicy than the fried rice despite both being ordered at the same level of heat. We finished the meal with mango and coconut sticky rice as a dessert and although the portion was small, it was amazing. Overall I was very impressed with the authenticity of the taste despite it being in a white area. If you are staying at the Aloft/Element near Love Field, Sweet Rice is close and convenient. We walked over the evening before our flight. We really had to search to find a table that wasn't sticky. The spring rolls weren't bad, but mostly lettuce, and not much shrimp. The crab Rangoon didn't have much filling. The Thai basil rice was good once I put sirracha and hoesin sauce on it. Phew, a brief stop over in the Dallas fort worth area for the night and right outside the hotel I noticed sweet rice. A fabulous little restaurant serving Thai food that was absolutely astonishing. I had the spicy Thai basil dish, Jasmin rice with chicken, some pork spring rolls. I love spicy food so this was right up my alley. More food than the average mere moral could digits in on sitting, so I shared with a friend that is a local an neva tried this spot. Let me be clear - if you don't know anything about Thai food, then this might be delicious and exotic if you don't know the difference. I know Lao and Thai food and all these dishes were underwhelming or overwhelming or just terrible. Pork skewer was scary. Grilled pork skewers are normally moist and fatty and when grilled they are absolutely relishes. Actually it's a tough dish to mess up. I am almost certain that they bought pork chops ( wrong cut ) on sale somewhere and are trying to pass them on as the real deal. Dry and terrible and luckily they took it off my bill. My beef Larb was too salty and minced too small. I didn't taste rice powder in it and it didn't have mint. My crispy rice was chewy and not crispy. My friends dish looked like soup and the chicken in it was so dry. I also found a piece of a metal shaving in my plate or possibly a piece of foil. They were kind enough to also offer us a dessert. Food is good a little pricy but I opened a Yelp account just to write this review. I went to the location on Mockingbird Ln on 6/12/25 and although they say that they close at 9pm it's not true. I walked in from the hotel next door at 8:47pm and they told me that last call was at 8:45. This is not a bar or nightclub. If you advertise you are open until 9pm then you should remain open and take orders until 9pm. This just kinda rubbed me the wrong way because I waited on purpose until later in the evening because I wasn't super hungry but I wanted to get something before you closed since you close so early.
