My favorite pizza in the city. Crazy how no one seems to talk about it. Love the margarita and my husband gets a pepperoni pizza.

We always walked by the place wanting to try their pizza by the slice but couldn't due to the pandemic. Today we walked in and were told they didn't have slices due to all that's going around and business being a little slow. So we ordered the 12" Make your own pie with 2 toppings. The pizza was good but would have been better with more toppings but no complaints! The base was fresh and fragrant. The crust was well roasted, crispy and crunchy even after being in the box for a good 20 min. 4/5 for the excellent pizza but 10 stars for the man behind the counter taking orders! :) I forgot to ask his name, but the old man behind the counter was so patient with our order and an absolute sweetheart. The time has been difficult on all of us and it's warming to see such people. If I had the money I'd buy 10 pizzas from him and leave a generous tip :) Overall a very decent place for pizza. I'd eat here any day over other chain of restaurants. read more

I ordered two pizzas for a party. As I finished my first slice, I bit into something hard. I pulled it out and it was some small piece of metal, like a deformed staple. I called the place and asked to be put on with worker's boss and he said he was too busy. It's obvious that the boss didn't believe me and assumed I was trying to pull a fast one or something. If I owned a food business, I'd want to know if one of the cooks was being irresponsible and unsafe. For the record, the pizza was tasty I was able to get a refund from GrubHub. However, literal metal in your food is a priority, so it doesn't matter if it's "never happened before". My friends or I could've been seriously injured and gone to the hospital. Overall good food but the boss is unprofessional. read more

It was difficult seeing ORD Pizzeria (previous restaurant in same location) close a while back as it had become a go-to for some great pizza. Drove by recently and saw a bustling crowd inside and was pleasantly surprised to see a restaurant in-business once again at this location. Stopped in and grabbed a menu, and soon discovered that while the name of the restaurant had changed, the menu was almost all the same as ORD. Maybe a few changes here and there, but overall a carbon copy. Ordered a 12" Les tonight which was one of my former standbys. A delicious combo of pepperoni, roasted garlic, white onion, pickled jalepeno, cremini mushrooms, mozzarella and sauce. While the ingredients are high quality and flavorful, the crust steals the show here. Great crunch, charred in spots for delightful flavor. I do hope this place can sustain. I am skeptical that the same menu in the same location can achieve different results, but I am here to support the local shop. The pizza is darn good. Hoping Crushed can add some additional combinations to the menu to give a new feeling to the restaurant. read more

This review could stop here, but it doesn't. The folks running it are THE NICEST people you could imagine. They are appreciative of your business and they tell you that. In 2021 that's huge. The delivery driver - almost always the same ones unless you order through a third party (Grubhub, PostMates, etc) - are so polite and will usually will throw in a, "good to see you again - thanks!" I have found some woodfired and Detroit-style pizza spots that I like, but I have NOT been able to find a delicious, basic, big-triangle-slice pie for the life of me... until I ordered Crushed this week. Just one order, and I'm tempted to give them 5 stars and certainly will if it's just as good next time I order... which I will. I built my own pie, as I just wanted a mushroom and cheese pizza. That's it. I was surprised that just one topping cost more than their specialties with multiple toppings, so maybe I'll try one of those next time. I was so pleased with the outcome. A pleasantly crispy, chewy crust, and all of the ingredients seemed fresh and high quality. Exactly what I've been looking for. What I hadn't been looking for but gave a try was the add-on garlic butter. I figured this would be like the chain spots garlic dipping sauce, but ya'll, it is so much more. It's creamy and has just enough flavor of roasted garlic without being too fatty or greasy. I used the first one to dip my pizza crusts, and I smartly ordered a second that I've been trying with everything that goes with butter and garlic, so like... everything? Can't wait to order again... So dissatisfied with their Venus pizza. They say on their website that all their pizzas are thin crust but this was almost as thick as deep dish. It was so greasy and expensive, I'll never go again. The only reason I didn't give 1 star is because the staff was nice. read more

Stumbled on this pizzeria on an evening walk and we are so thankful we did! We ordered a large pizza and a half house salad. They threw in an delicious chewy chocolate chip cookie for free when we picked up our food. Talk about luck! The salad was so fresh, you could smell the basil as soon as we opened the container. Our pizza was cooked to perfection! It had the perfect toppings, sauce, cheese and crust ratio. Blink and you will miss this place, but it is your loss! This is a wonderful new little pizzeria in the north center neighborhood. They have pick up and delivery, and as soon as you walk in the smells of deliciousness hit you. They make an absolutely outstanding hand tossed pizza. The staff is super friendly, both times I have walked out of there with some sort of free dessert. It takes them about 25 minutes to make a pizza, so just make sure you call ahead with your order, otherwise they deliver within a 2 mile radius. Budget tip - next time you go in pick up one of their free menus that's on the counter, on the back of it they have free five dollar and $10 off coupons. Overall, very highly recommended! read more

OMG, I "discovered" this place about two months ago and I'm hooked! Forget Rosati's, Lou Malnati's. We've ordered from here at once every other week, its crazy and he haven't been able to get past our favorite, the Louie. The ingredients are piled on and fresh. They don't skimp on the toppings and the crust has that satisfying crunch I grew up with in NYC. This is the only place for us now. We just need to try the other specialty pizza's but the Louie with it's spicy capicola, sausage, pepperoni, red peppers, mushrooms and mozzarella are just heaven! read more

Seriously good. I love Chicago style pizza (this isn't that) and only begrudgingly enjoy other styles (pequods comes to mind...I do like pequods) but I'll be back here regularly. So fresh, I bit right into a whole caraway seed. So well seasoned and the crust is not my usual but it's so delicious If it helps, my regular pizza are from Pete's or lavilla or bellonas (several others are in the rotation) ...mama Lunas for deep dish. read more

They really do a terrific job at Crushed Pizza. I have high standards when it comes to food, and Crushed is very consistent, and uses high quality ingredients in everything they make. Their side salads are surprisingly good and generously portioned too. I love the crust, love the sauce, love the toppings. The brownie cupcake is DELICIOUS. And they seem to run an efficient operation here, I've never had a problem with wrong orders or serious delays (though I ALWAYS pick up my own pizza, so it gets to me ASAP for the best taste). read more

Amazing pizza with a range of truly well thought out toppings. This isn't a place where you are going to get Mac & Cheese pizza but where you can get expertly combined toppings that raise the pizza above others. The crust is thin, crispy, and delicious and their homemade sauce just adds extra amazing flavor. Also, the last two times we've ordered for pickup we have left with a free treat which was a delicious sweet. This is a real deal pizzeria and a great local business! Stopped by 4:00 pm Saturday Sept 26th after phoning in a 16 inch cheese pizza. Wanted to share a pizza for lunch with my wife and son. Pizza was 5-Stars. Crust was perfect. Real NY Style that could have been folded if pizza was cut into 4 slices instead of 8. Thin with the right amount of crispness. The sauce had a nice real tomato flavor, with a hint of red pepper. Not enhanced by too much sugar as some places. Perfect amount of cheese to compliment the pizza. Price was also a great value for a 16 inch pizza. Stag is also friendly and welcoming. My only regret is that I didn't order 2-3 pizzas to have leftovers. My new place to grab carryout when I'm in the city. We will be back soon. 5-STARS. read more

The pizza was delicious, but the service was exceptional. It's a long story, but my Grubhub driver called to say he couldn't do the delivery. I called Crushed to let them know the driver wasn't coming and that I needed to get in touch with Grubhub to get another delivery driver. I don't remember who I talked to at Crushed, but he called me back after about 10 minutes to make sure there was going to be another driver and he also said he would throw in a dessert on the house. Had a craving for pizza so I decided to check out the newest spot I'd heard about. It's also BYOB, which was a plus. The place is cozy and clean, and the people there are very kind and hospitable. After watching the Pizza Show on youtube, I developed a taste for thin crust, big sliced pizza. ORD pizza (that previously was in this space) was okay, but I always thought the crust was bland and hard enough to give a jaw workout. I live a block away and saw that this place was finally open. I stopped by on the way home to get a couple of slices, it was delicious. The crust was thin, but it was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, Sauce had great flavor and the sausage was perfect. The staff is incredibly nice and the place looks amazing now. Between the taco place next door and now Crushed, I don't have to venture off my block to get two of my favorite foods. This is incredible and dangerous at the same time lol. Was super excited to see this re-open with the same ORD menu, but folks this ain't it! The pizza quality dropped. Its the same menu with cheaper ingredients and poor preparation. Pizza: Cheese is chewy, lacks flavor, seems like Sysco food service cheese. There was barely any sauce on the pizza also. Sausage was flavorless. Combining all that with a dough-ey and chewy crust, the pizza falls flat on all angles. The salad dressing was watered down, furthering the theme of cost cutting at this wanna-be ORD. I've been ordering from Crushed Pizza for a few weeks now, as I'm hooked, been ordering their sausage-capicola... The sauce is very tasty and the crust is crunchy. The slice is very thin but crispy almost to the middle. I think the difference is the "freshness". Everything tastes like it was just made. Bottom line is the pie, right? Well, Crushed makes a great pizza with tasty sauce, perfectly cooked cheese (some browning), and quality ingredients. The interior is a comfortable place to relax and chill out. The people who work there are friendly. The prices are fine. It's a BYOB joint so that is a definite plus. And we already have plans to order this for delivery. The only drawback was the wait. We ordered and waited almost an hour for the pizza. (I had to go back to the liquor store for another bottle of wine.) The good news? This is a new place (only three months old) so I bet they'll be cranking out the pies quicker in no time. read more

Great new BYOB pizza place on Montrose with fun and friendly staff! We got the Venus which was sausage, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, mozzarella, Parmesan and crushed tomatoes. The large size fed three of us well. We dined in and the service was fast and the pizza was delicious! Loved the toppings combo on their hand stretched thin crust (light outer crust, soft bready inside) a perfect complement to the pizza toppings. Can't wait to try more of the pizzas! We also tried the caramel pecan oatmeal square and the chocolate chip cookie, the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. The caramel pecan oatmeal square is the right amount crunchy and gooey and the cookie has lots of big chunks of chocolate in a soft on the inside, golden brown on the outside cookie.
