My delivery came from Crustees and I was exited to try to chicken potpie and peach cobbler. The potpie didn't really move me. Unfortunately it was pretty dry. The thick crust made it taste even drier. The flavor was good and it had big chinks of chicken in it. It was just missing the moisture from more juice. Now that peach cobbler was PERFECT! The crust was delicious and the inside tasted like gold. I was skeptical because everybody can't make peach cobbler but I'll give this one a 10. STILL salivating over the mixed berry cookie pie I had from here two days ago. I'm not kidding when I say I'd die for this pie. I'd wreak havoc for this pie. Comfort for my soul. I have been traveling up and down Slauson for years and kept telling myself that I need to stop and check out some of the businesses. Crustees is now a favorite. I had the shepherd pot pie. It was filled with ground, turkey and lamb cooked in a red wine reduction, mixed vegetables, onion, garlic, and mushrooms, topped with white truffle mashed potatoes and cheese. It was divine. For dessert I had the La Brea classic banana pudding. it was so good. I cannot wait to come back and try all of the other savory pot pies as well as the sweet pies. I took my pot pie to go because I wasn't hungry at the time. It was easy to heat up in the oven and enjoy in the comfort of my dining room. This restaurant is a hidden gem! I walked by to go to another store and I saw desserts. I decided to go in and it is extremely clean. The aroma of the desserts and baked goods just catches your attention immediately. The worker at the front was very nice and answered all of the questions we may have had. Onto the food, the selection seemed so nice so I decided to try a few things. I ordered peach cobbler, apple pie, banana pudding with strawberries, and banana pudding with nutter butters. Everything I ordered was delicious!! The apple pie could have been a little sweeter but, I think that depends on the person. However, that banana pudding with nutter butter...amazing!!!! She scrolls through Yelp and sees phenomenal reviews of Crustees Eatery* PLOT TWIST - I'm the woman! I arrived at Crustees at around 6PM on a Wednesday night and nearly jumped for joy when I realized that parking was available right in front of the shop, which generally isn't the case from 9-5 because of traffic flow in that lane. As soon as I entered, I saw two personal sized pies that resembled pumpkin pies, but I was deceived. I asked the cashier whether they had any pumpkin pies, eyeing the displayed pies, as another employee entered from the kitchen with as many pies as she could carry. The cashier told me that the displays were sweet potato pie. However, there were two additional pumpkin pies available! I asked her to wrap them up and also purchased a banana pudding. The total came up to about $25 for the three items. Y'all the pies and pudding were heavenly! I was reluctant to share with my husband but needed another person to experience the pure bliss of Crustees desserts. The serving size seemed small at first but it took my husband and I a few days to finish all three desserts. It was certainly a big enough serving to share, or at least have seconds, and maybe even thirds depending on the level of your sweet tooth! Disappointed. I found this terrific little spot early on during the Covid quarantine and have come to love it. It's been a couple months and I had a hankering for chicken pot pie, so I ordered. For the 1st time, I was unhappy. The entire thing was just under done. The crust was too light, doughy and uncooked. The filing was far too watery: soupy as opposed to the normal stews. So this time since I'm doing Yelp a little more often I will include some pictures of my recent ordered. My fiancé loves their White Chicken Chili and for myself I love the Rustic Chili. I love this place. I had my guy check real quick to see if they had other places in different areas, since we do not live in or near LA. This was the best chicken pot pie that I ever had. I chose it because you could decide between two sizes. Only complaint I had is it was just not very warm.. The crust was so flaky!!!! The apples were good, not very sweet, but the perfect compliment to the buttery crust. I brought my mother a chicken pot pie and their sweet potato pecan pie. She loved her chicken pot pie. This past Saturday, I ordered two half pan cobblers (one peach and one berry) for a memorial service. I was so excited to share them with my loved ones. The owner placed them on the floor of my car behind the driver and said I was good to go. The peach was great, but the berry was underdone. It was like soup.
