It can't believe it's taken me this long to go here. This place knows how to make great food, not one dish was less than special. Huge portions and Great service, one of the best casual dining experiences in Savannah. We arrived around 6:30/7 on a Friday, and grabbed the last two seats at the bar- if not for that we'd be waiting at least 40 minutes. (No reservations) We started with the giant pretzel and we stuffed without finishing. The Gouda beer cheese, are you kidding me? So good. We ordered the big bleu burger with a side of the ocilla slaw - YUM. And got the soup and salad combo with Caesar and she crab soup, which came with a slice of cornbread. I don't often get down to Savannah but when I do, I ALWAYS stop in at Crystal Beer Parlor for their shrimp and grits. Every. Single. Time. I mean it - those shrimp and grits are the best I've had anywhere, My husband and a friend have gotten the burgers and said they were excellent. The service is always great and the wait staff are very attentive. This does have a bar but it's always a pleasant experience. Not too loud. You can even sit at the bar to eat. Their beer selection is top notch - all types of breweries from around the US represented. Their food is a level Above pub fare. The shrimp Salad is delish - tender shrimp with a slightly sweet sauce. You can choose your side - I got the house slaw which is amazing. The fried pickles are tangy and cooked just right and the Greek wings are tasty too. You can't miss with a burger - really anything is going to hit the spot. We opted to sit inside, and we really liked all the photos/historical decor! The bar area was also pretty lively, and they had a huge selection of beers on draft. The place was packed, but the service was surprisingly prompt! I ended up getting the shrimp and grits. It was so deliciously rich and creamy, and I loved the andouille sausage. I've eaten at this restaurant a few times over the years and I like the quaint old fashioned wood paneled pub like establishment. The bar and restaurant is always busy and lively. There are four different rooms and there used to be an outside tent eating area. Ambiance aside, the food is always fresh and delicious. Service is prompt and friendly. Came around 7:30 and was given an estimated wait time of 35-40 minutes. Luckily, there was an adjoining gift shop that allowed us to kill some time and we were seated early after only 15min. The star of the meal was definitely the giant pretzel with bier cheese. The fried pickles deserve an honorable mention and the burger was okay. On our arrival to Savannah after our tour, we decided to stop by for lunch based on good reviews and knowing that it has been a staple in the city. The restaurant is bug but you wouldn't think so from walking by ir driving by. Street parking is available and you do have to wait for a table, since it gets busy. There is some outside seating and plenty of inside seating. Our server took our order and checked on us from time to time. Drinks took a while to get to us but food came shortly after. My wife and I were in Savannah for a long weekend and I had found this place on Yelp and I knew I had to have a meal here. It was only a few blocks from our hotel and it can hold A LOT of people and they even have a tent outside if you want to eat outside. I gave the place five stars, but if 4.5 was available, I would probably give that. Our server was a nice enough guy and when I finished my first beer (They have an AWESOME beer list), he never checked on us if I wanted another, eventually the manager came by and was able to get me another beer. I ordered the pimento pig pulled pork sandwich with collard greens and my wife got the HUGE pretzel with dipping cheese. The food came out pretty fast, and the collard greens were some of the best I had in Savannah. The sandwich was good, but the bread turns really soggy quickly, so it really isn't a hand held sandwich. I ended up eating it with a fork and knife. Really good pulled pork too and the bread was buttery and good. The pretzel was huge and really good for what it was and the dipping cheese is really great. We ended up taking half the pretzel home all the way to Minneapolis and have been munching on it for a couple of days after a quick nuke in the microwave. I wanted collared greens, because I didn't have a memory of ever having it before, and now I am in LOVE. It is not only delicious, but healthy! The flavor was some sort of smoked pork or ham I can't quite place it, but it was phenomenal. I also ordered the chicken fingers, and it was exactly what I needed that night! It was the perfect meal! Around noon midweek in Dec '24, we were seated quickly near the bar, with a friendly attentive waitress and a view of the always cool but non-stop bartender. We had a light low-priced lunch, choosing some things they are famous for: Large crispy juicy duck-wings in a not-too-spicy sweet chili sauce, hard-to-find authentic vinegar Ocilla slaw of chopped cabbage peppers and onions, their famous rich creamy fresh crab stew with a few shells :-), lightly-spicy Savannah red rice with veggies and sausage and some savory bacon drippings, and lightly-battered tender juicy fried flounder filets. Our sweet waitress poured us a free sample of the Service IPA from their wide list of craft beers, and that mad-good bartender made us a couple of strong bright Moscow Mules. On a recent business trip to Savannah, my coworkers recommended I dine at Crystal Beer Parlor for lunch. Apparently, locals know best! Crystal Beer Parlor is located on the edge of downtown, offering complimentary lot parking. I did not find out about the complimentary parking until leaving, but no big deal, I parked on a nearby street for $1. Entrance is a bit confusing as you enter at the rear of the restaurant, adjacent to a large covered dining area and a neighboring gift shop. A hostess seats you. There are many sanctioned dining rooms in here and everything has a wood, old school parlor accent. During our dining experience here, the place was bustling with patrons - including tourists and children. Overall, the restaurant seems very accommodating for a variety of groups. As a group, we were able to try the following: - Creamy Crab Stew - Oyster Po' Boy - All Four Seafood Platter: sweet domestic shrimp, fried flounder filets, select fried gulf oysters, baked southern deviled crab - Sweet potato fries The food here is delicious! The creamy crab stew was indeed fresh and as promised, I found shells in my cup. I also enjoyed all the variety of seafood in the platter. The platter is definitely the way to go here - everything was plump, fresh, delicious, and cooked perfectly! It definitely hits the spot. The service here is phenomenal. Our server was quick, attentive, engaged in conversation and provided some local recommendations. She also introduced some items that were off-menu and allowed us to enjoy those.
