We started the evening with a Tybee sunset, Grand margarita, and amazing crab puppies--by far the best hush puppy I've ever had, probably because there was so much crab, it reminded me of crab cakes. Highly recommend. For entrees, we ordered pimento pig. Ended the meal with the mouth watering peach cobbler. This is the best cobbler I've ever tasted. Can't wait to have another order soon! You gotta try this historic beer parlor around since the 1930s! They had a ton of beers to choose from both on tap and in cans/bottles. The walls are adorned with all kinds of antique pictures and decorations. It was fun to look around at everything while we waited for our food. The bar is long with wooden barstools that really just scream nostalgia. The food menu is big and I would describe it as upscale diner type food. We shared crab puppies that were absolutely delicious! They were packed with crab meat and felt like eating a crabcake. We shared a fried flounder Rueben which is honestly more of my husband's thing, not mine. It was good if you like that sort of thing. He thought the sandwich was incredible. I have been a loyal customer of Crystal Beer Parlor for approximately 14 years and have always enjoyed my experiences there. I have recommended this restaurant to countless friends, family members, church members, and visitors over the years because of the quality of the food and service I have historically received. Today, however, was a very disappointing experience. I brought my son, my nephew, and a member of my church to lunch. Three of us arrived first while we waited for the fourth member of our party. When I requested to be seated so that my hungry children could begin eating, the hostess informed me that we could not be seated until the entire party arrived. I explained that our fourth guest would be delayed and asked if we could simply be seated as a party of three and begin ordering. She declined and offered to get the manager. The manager then reiterated that we could not be seated until the fourth guest arrived. During the conversation, she explained that the owners are concerned about table turnover and that seating incomplete parties can impact how quickly tables are flipped. She proceeded to explain how the restaurant industry works and why this policy exists. As a customer, this was frustrating and disappointing to hear. Respectfully, discussions about table turnover, profitability, and restaurant operations are not concerns that customers should be expected to consider when simply trying to feed their families. My primary concern was that my children were hungry and that I intended to order food immediately, including appetizers and four full meals. What made this experience even more frustrating was that after I stated that I was prepared to sit down and order right away, I was then told that I could be seated. That left me confused as to why the situation required such resistance in the first place. More importantly, this entire interaction took place in front of my son and nephew. As a longtime patron, I felt embarrassed and undervalued. Over the years, I have been seated at Crystal Beer Parlor with incomplete parties on numerous occasions, which made the rigid enforcement of this policy today seem inconsistent with my past experiences. I still love Crystal Beer Parlor and hope this review is received as constructive feedback from someone who genuinely supports the restaurant. However, this experience left me feeling that customer hospitality took a back seat to operational concerns, and that was disappointing after so many years of loyalty. read more

Huge portions and Great service, one of the best casual dining experiences in Savannah. We arrived around 6:30/7 on a Friday, and grabbed the last two seats at the bar- if not for that we'd be waiting at least 40 minutes. (No reservations) We started with the giant pretzel and we stuffed without finishing. The Gouda beer cheese, are you kidding me? So good. We ordered the big bleu burger with a side of the ocilla slaw - YUM. And got the soup and salad combo with Caesar and she crab soup, which came with a slice of cornbread. Hands down...the BEST food spot in Savannah. Last time I was here was in 2018 before COVID. The food is still just as amazing!!! The juicy lamb burger with homemade tzatziki, lettuce, tomato & onion with feta is to die for. Enjoyed the sweet potato waffle fries as well! Loved it just as much as last time. Creamy crab soup was so good, had it Friday night and Saturday night. Hubby had Fried Pound Cake with ice cream and strawberry drizzle and says "it was really good!" We opted to sit inside, and we really liked all the photos/historical decor! The bar area was also pretty lively, and they had a huge selection of beers on draft. The place was packed, but the service was surprisingly prompt! I ended up getting the shrimp and grits. It was so deliciously rich and creamy, and I loved the andouille sausage. Love love love this place! We've been several times over the past few visits and always find a way to pop in. Their beer selection is top notch - all types of breweries from around the US represented. Their food is a level Above pub fare. The shrimp Salad is delish - tender shrimp with a slightly sweet sauce. You can choose your side - I got the house slaw which is amazing. The fried pickles are tangy and cooked just right and the Greek wings are tasty too. You can't miss with a burger - really anything is going to hit the spot. The staff is super friendly and the food comes out fast. There is always plenty of seating at tables and also at the bar. During October they have the outside set up like a beer garden. We visited last week on our Girls Trip 2026. This is one of the restaurants that were recommended. We were a party of 9 without reservations on Tuesday May 12th during lunch hour. While the staff prepared our table, we shopped in the little shop attached to the restaurant. We made purchases. Everyone welcomed us with Southern Charm from the two women in the shop, hostess, our server, and another customer. The 1/2 shrimp salad sandwich with she crab soup were delicious, shrimp and grits-excellent, the onion rings the best I have ever tasted. We must not forget the Reuben sandwich. Came around 7:30 and was given an estimated wait time of 35-40 minutes. Luckily, there was an adjoining gift shop that allowed us to kill some time and we were seated early after only 15min. The star of the meal was definitely the giant pretzel with bier cheese. The fried pickles deserve an honorable mention and the burger was okay. The meat wasn't as juicy as I anticipated and I felt it came off as a bit dry. I think I enjoyed the side of potato salad more than the burger. Overall, a good place for a filling meal. read more

I've eaten at this restaurant a few times over the years and I like the quaint old fashioned wood paneled pub like establishment. The bar and restaurant is always busy and lively. There are four different rooms and there used to be an outside tent eating area. Ambiance aside, the food is always fresh and delicious. Service is prompt and friendly. On our arrival to Savannah after our tour, we decided to stop by for lunch based on good reviews and knowing that it has been a staple in the city. The restaurant is bug but you wouldn't think so from walking by ir driving by. Street parking is available and you do have to wait for a table, since it gets busy. There is some outside seating and plenty of inside seating. Our server took our order and checked on us from time to time. Drinks took a while to get to us but food came shortly after. My wife and I were in Savannah for a long weekend and I had found this place on Yelp and I knew I had to have a meal here. It was only a few blocks from our hotel and it can hold A LOT of people and they even have a tent outside if you want to eat outside. We were able to get a seat pretty quick, but kind of a crummy seat in the back. I couldn't even see the cool bar. Also, they didn't have wi-fi, boo on that. I gave the place five stars, but if 4.5 was available, I would probably give that. Our server was a nice enough guy and when I finished my first beer (They have an AWESOME beer list), he never checked on us if I wanted another, eventually the manager came by and was able to get me another beer. I ordered the pimento pig pulled pork sandwich with collard greens and my wife got the HUGE pretzel with dipping cheese. The food came out pretty fast, and the collard greens were some of the best I had in Savannah. The sandwich was good, but the bread turns really soggy quickly, so it really isn't a hand held sandwich. I ended up eating it with a fork and knife. Really good pulled pork too and the bread was buttery and good. The pretzel was huge and really good for what it was and the dipping cheese is really great. We ended up taking half the pretzel home all the way to Minneapolis and have been munching on it for a couple of days after a quick nuke in the microwave. A couple knocks against it, but I would give it a shot at least once and the place is packed, so they must be doing something right. Great ambiance inside as well. read more

I don't often get down to Savannah but when I do, I ALWAYS stop in at Crystal Beer Parlor for their shrimp and grits. Every. Single. Time. I mean it - those shrimp and grits are the best I've had anywhere, My husband and a friend have gotten the burgers and said they were excellent. The service is always great and the wait staff are very attentive. This does have a bar but it's always a pleasant experience. Not too loud. You can even sit at the bar to eat. All I can say is WOW! The entire experience was amazing- from the friendly-southern hospitable staff to the cozy-homey ambiance and the delicious home cooked-traditional southern food...we were WOWWED. We were looking for some traditional southern cooking and it was hard to search for that description, so we just went with the reviews and the photos here on Yelp. Again, Yelp did not disappoint! We did have to walk from the central area of Savannah where we had been the last few days, but this longer cold and windy walk was worth it when we arrived and were treated to an incredible feast in a warm cozy atmosphere! I ordered the mini corn bread loaf to start, which was served warm and then watching the butter melt after spreading while we warmed up ourselves was mouth watering. I wanted collared greens, because I didn't have a memory of ever having it before, and now I am in LOVE. It is not only delicious, but healthy! The flavor was some sort of smoked pork or ham I can't quite place it, but it was phenomenal. I also ordered the chicken fingers, and it was exactly what I needed that night! It was the perfect meal! Hubby ordered the special that night, which was pork on collard greens over grits topped with homemade onion rings. He said it was not only incredibly delicious, but perfect for a cold night! This place is huge and had a lot of tables and bar seating. It gives a tavern vibe but with great food and beer choices. We ordered the burger and the turkey Ruben.
