Went here for weekend brunch and got seated in about 10 minutes, which was nice. The staff were friendly and service was good throughout. We ordered the California omelette with hash browns and toast. It was decent, but honestly pretty bland on its own and tasted much better once we added sauce. We also tried the strawberry rhubarb French toast. It wasn't my favorite - the topping felt a bit thrown together, and the whole dish was much sweeter than I expected. The coffee was okay, and the orange juice tasted like bottled juice rather than fresh squeezed. So Memorial Day I didn't plan to go out but some friends took us out for my wife's birthday which was the day prior. We agreed to try the crystal cafe in Bothell and fingers crossed it's good. We arrived and as expected it was a bit of a wait. While waiting I noticed a lot of people coming out with clear containers of biscuits. I prefer toast but I was intrigued. I ordered the chicken fried steak and two others also tried the steak. Another accompaniment had the chicken fingers and the bleu burger. I love a good breakfast place and this is it, it is always full so be sure to add yourself to their waitlist. It has a cozy diner-esq vibe to it and I love everything about it. Every breakfast item I've  had here has been insanely yummy, just great food, insane portions and a friendly and capable staff (yes they are packed but they always make an effort to be nice). So I shared a plate of the Almond Crunch, OMG I love this thing with a passion but because I cannot just choose one thing I also shared a few (more than a few) bites of the Migas, savory bliss of eggs and beef with cheese onions peppers and all kinds of yumminess, I love getting these with hashbrowns. Came here on the Sunday before Christmas and despite the crowd, we were seated within the estimated 30 minute window they gave us when we entered. Our server was super friendly, and our food did not take a long time to be served. We ordered sandwiches and shakes, me specifically ordering the turkey melt with crinkle fries and strawberry shake. The shakes were served first, and we finished them by the time the food was served (I did save the "extra" tin for post-meal. Managed to eat half the sandwich before I felt stuffed (probably from downing a whole shake before eating!) but kept munching on the fries because their ranch was too good to leave behind. I did not take the other half of the sandwich to go as it was already quite wet/soggy and I can imagine it would have only gotten worse by the time I ate it later. There food is classic diner fair. The service - once you get in - is good. The problem is they close with no notice and without posting seemingly anywhere. The bar will unexpectedly be closed. The whole restaurant will be suddenly closed early with no info on social media except a sign on the door. This also happens at the partner locations in Sammamish, so this is an organizational problem. I don't mind you deciding to close earlier on a holiday. Or for training. But for the love of hecking heck, would you post on one of your many social media accounts when you close early so we don't speed precious $5.50 gas driving up there? Well, maybe it was just me but the server kinda had a "I'd rather not serve you or be elsewhere" kind of attitude. Not sure, can't confirm but he kinda had that vibe. Anyways... Food: on point! Quite the busy place on a Sunday morning. We luckily found they had an online sign in sheet so we did that which gave us about 25 minutes to get there. We made it with a few minutes to spare and were seated immediately. Otherwise we heard them telling people it was a 40 minute wait. The waitress we had was super friendly and funny and kept our coffee flowing which was surprising for as busy as they were. Now the food. I ordered the hobo scramble with pancakes and a side of bacon. The scramble was really good except to much sour cream thrown on top (ask for it on the side). I do have a question about the booth seating, many seats are torn and I think it would be important to repair or replace that. Not a fan! This is a typical American diner but I felt like they use cheap ingredients and charge a lot for it. Portions are big, which is good considering the price. Even the half portions are quite large. Absolutely nothing impressive about the dish, hash is not crispy but also not greasy. He said seasoning was lacking. I had potato and bacon pancakes with a side of over easy egg. The egg was cooked right. The pancakes were big, somewhat crispy on the outside but not enough. This wasn't so much of a pancake because it just fell apart. It should be called hash and bacon. Apple sauce on the side was meh! And the waitress brought a cup of mayo instead of sour cream by accident. She quickly fixed that mistake when I pointed it out though. Service was friendly but clearly they were busy. What threw me off the most is their disgusting butter. I don't know how but it had a foul aftertaste. Overall, $80 breakfast for 4 of us was steep for the quality of food. Visited Crystal Creek Cafe for the first time on this Monday for brunch, and it was hopping! I wonder if perhaps the start of Winter Break was a contributing factor. It was about a 20 minute wait for a table, but once seated, our waitress promptly came by to take our order, and food came out within 10-15 minutes. Most of the breakfast/brunch items are available to order as a half order, or a whole order for an extra $3-4, which seems the economical option if you want to share an order with someone or don't mind having breakfast leftovers. The whole order of California omelette was a generous serving of 4 eggs with bacon bits, tomatoes, and cheese, with sour cream, about 1/4 avocado, and fresh salsa and came with 4 slices of buttered toast. Everything tasted great, though nothing super special beyond breakfast food, but it was definitely filling, and I packed up a little less than half as leftovers. The hash browns were my favorite part - super crispy albeit greasy. Overall, a good place to get your fill on a filling, standard breakfast/brunch, but not necessarily a place I'd be craving to return. read more

The hostess was short with us and acted like we were an inconvenience because we walked in and wanted to eat there. Isn't this the nature of the business? Food was fine and our server was fine. There was a different server walking around in a Seahawks jersey, he nearly ran into us three times, no excuse me, no effort to notice there are customers trying to walk by (trying to share the walkway).
