    Crystal Boat Noodle (Large)
    Noah M.

Service in the restuarant is always good and I do enjoy dining in. Ambience is simple, clean, and well lit. I'm just perplexed as to why this restuarant is hellbent on putting their sticky rice and and their vermicelli noodles in the containers while they're hot?!?! I just ordered a boat noodle to go and got home 15 minutes later ready to assemble my bowl and my noodles are overcooked and stuck together in a large block. This is also happened with sticky rice I ordered from them over the summer. Quality should not change once I leave the restaurant. A complete waste of my $16... I can't even pick the noodles up with chop sticks, they're literally ALL broken.

Enjoying the buffet. Loves the Nankin style chow mein. Original Nankin recipe, yo!

Even in this economic environment, the prices are outrageously expensive! No fried rice on the planet is worth over $10-12.00 dollars.

We sat outside and it was well shaded and despite being hot out we didn't feel it that bad. And then the food - one of the more difficult ordering experiences recently because there was so much we wanted but only so much we knew we could eat. We got the basil wings, drunken undon, laab seen, and pork fried rice... not a single bad bite across everything we ate. Someone of the crispest wings I've ever had ... good crunch and wet juicy insides.... The udon was DRUNK as hell and deliciously tangy The laab was so good... we need more sliced beef ... minty fresh and so good with the lettuce wraps and sticky rice Then the pork fried rice... great fried rice with pork belly AND sausage? Get out of town. This feel like the kind of place you could come to weekly and have a different meal each time.

If you're only ordering one bowl at Gai Noi, make it the Khao Soi…read more The Khao Soi is everything you want in Northern Thai comfort food--rich coconut curry broth with just the right amount of spice, incredibly tender chicken, silky rice noodles, and a fresh cabbage slaw that adds the perfect crunch. A squeeze of lime brightens the whole bowl and keeps every bite balanced. What I love most is how layered the flavors are. It's creamy, savory, a little spicy, and somehow still feels light enough that you keep going back for another bite. Gai Noi continues to prove why it's one of the Twin Cities' best restaurants, and this dish is a perfect example of why. This is the kind of bowl you'll be craving before you even leave the restaurant.

Service is friendly, the food is tasty, and the price is affordable. With all that said, the restaurant has some things that might turn off some people. Parking can be hard to find; there have been altercations in the area; also, the last time we went the restaurant it was not very clean. We will continue to visit the restaurant, but I want to make it known to others about all my experiences. Pros: - Several. We have always felt the hospitality is superb. Cons: - Mentioned in the above description.

The volume in the restaurant is quite loud, so the patio may be better if you don't want to speak up at the table. Service is on the slower side but the food is worth the wait. -- The Sakoo small plate was an incredible dish! The texture contrast between the filling, chewy exterior, and lettuce shell was fantastic. It was so flavorful and has a bit of a spice kick to it. -- The Mango Fish entree was packed with flavor, and is a very umami-forward dish. The piece of crispy salmon skin on the side is perfectly crunchy and salty. It's a filet of salmon (not a whole fish) and the salmon is nice and buttery. -- The Duck Fried Rice entree had good flavor but the duck meat was dry. It did not come with the duck leg or crispy skin, and instead had chunks of duck meat throughout the dish. This dish has a bit of a spice kick to it. -- The Pistachio Orange Blossom Cake dessert was SO GOOD. I'm not a huge dessert person and I ate every bite of this. The cake is so moist and pairs well with the fluffy mousse covering the cake. The little bits of baklava and orange zest complemented this dish really well.

I will be thinking of how good that dish is for the rest of my life; the coconut milk and lime combined with the texture of fresh seafood really hit the spot! The Thai basil wings and Massaman curry were very yummy also. I enjoyed my meal so thoroughly that I forgot to take many pictures. The presentation on my cocktail (a tonic with vodka and buddha hand fruit) was very pretty. Service was thoughtful and quick. The restaurant itself was beautiful and open and airy -- I almost felt like I wasn't in Minneapolis anymore. We went on a Tuesday, and only drawback I'd say is that the noise level can be a little bit loud due to the acoustics and how the room is one giant space. Otherwise, very happy with the restaurant and would go again.

The flavors here are wildly different. I've been here before with friends and they've ordered the curry, but the curry looked too watery and that kind of should've told me that it wasn't going to be a hit of a Thai place for me. I like closer to a thicker sauce for coconut curry. Usually the Thai places that have more watery coconut curry sauces just hits a little lower & it def shows. Amazing Thai has this same issue lol. Now, this place too... I feel lost without a fav Thai place in Minne lol. The string beans were crunchy in the papaya salad which was great but the entire sauce tasted like MSG & lacks the Lao shrimp paste flavor although it was more grey since I did order the Lao style but not enough shrimp paste flavor as it should have. Either this place has different cooks etc., it is not the same as a year ago or more. I took a few bites of each plate and I wrapped it up to go, and I threw it in the garbage since my stomach was churning had to take some Tums lol. This place, Amazing Thai, & Sawatdee are the bottom 3 for me. Back to the drawing table. (I've never seen an Asian person eat here... I guess that says a lot?)
