Fun and a little out of the way spot in the middle of Key West. We went for an early lunch and got some great food. We got a couple of the Sunriser meals -- half an egg sandwich on Cuban bread and a cafe con leche. Just delicious (and we are from Miami so we know!). Also got a tasty Cuban sandwich and smoothies. We enjoyed the table area and loved watching the Key West roosters and chickens (and about a dozen chicks) strutting around. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. This place is awesome! Convenient location right off Duval. Shaded open air patio seating with lots of fans to keep you cool. Iced cafe con leche is as good as the other reviewers say. The ice cubes made of coffee are a genius touch. We tried the flavors - vanilla and caramel - both delicious. Wish we would have ordered large sizes! Stopped in for my morning cup on my first day in town and was quite impressed with this place. The owner was in roasting beans and stopped and talked me through all the beans (I was purchasing some to take home.) He even added a small pack for free to take home and compare brews. We had a Cortadito without the sugar and the flavor was impeccable. I caught myself craving for more of that flavor the rest of the day. Very happy we stopped in and even happier I decided to buy some to take home. If you're a coffee junkie like myself you've gotta stop by while you're in town. read more

Definitely a place to check out in the morning if you are in the duval street area. Don't go to the nearby starbucks, go check out this place instead. It is nestled in a courtyard off the street and has outdoor seating which is great in the morning. They have a nice coffee and food selection. We both had cordaditas (cuban coffee with sugar cane and a little leche). They were strong and a bit sweet; overall very good. We also split a breakfast sandwich on cuban bread. It was very good and big. We actually split one and were perfectly happy. We went here on our last morning, but should have gone earlier in the trip. read more

Tried the Margaret Street location and the coffee was perfect, just like Havana. The two sandwhiches we had were good as well. Service was excellent. Bolstered, tried the downtown location. Sandwhich was just meh and the service by the Rasta girl was horrible. After 10 mins of waiting for my simple coffee order and seeing her serve 9 other people i went up to the counter and asked about my coffee. Her response, oh I forgot. By far my favorite coffee spot in key west. I like iced coffee and my favorite thing about Cuban coffee queen is that they use coffee ice cubes, so your coffee tastes better longer. We tried this place based on the reviews. The sandwiches were fine and so was the coffee. However, this is not cafe con leche, and the Cuban sandwich was nowhere near authentic. When you make cafe con leche, you have be very careful in how the milk is heated. If you're steaming your milk, you need to make sure that as as little water as possible is transfered to the milk. Otherwise, the milk will get watered down. I'm almost 100% sure this was the case here as the drink was had lost its milky richness and was quite watery. There are two schools of thought when it comes to making a Cuban sandwich. One is the "mixto" which has lettuce, tomato, and sometimes mayonnaise. This version is usually more popular in the Tampa area. The other, is what I consider to be the authentic version. This keeps things simple, using pork, ham, swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles all on buttered and pressed Cuban bread. This is what you get when you order a Cuban sandwich in Miami. My parents are Cuban, and I was born there myself. I think I know authentic cafe con leche and Cuban sandwiches. This is more of a shame because this establishment with a number of locations, seems quite popular. It's fine for what it is, but I was hoping for something more authentic. read more

At last! Cuban Coffee Queen has opened a second location just a hop and skip off of Duval Street. This location has ample seating and friendly dogs are welcome. The location used to house Lobo's, which was pretty good...sad to seem them go. The quality is consistent with the original location. Be aware that if you order delivery, your order will be coming from this location, as they now have a huge kitchen to help offset the demand of their quality food. We used to absolutely love Cuban Coffee Queen... I had a really lousy coffee Cafe Con Leche yesterday that had very little flavor and had been sweetened to death... I threw it out. To be fair I went back this morning, ordered another Cafe Con Leche (this time without sugar). There was no one else in line and I was told they would bring it over. I surfed the net, sent an email and waited as they took & filled phone orders? I went up and had to explain that I had ordered and hadn't gotten my coffee...they apologized and delivered another tasteless coffee. I ended up throwing it out and going to Starbucks.
