Went to dinner on vacation and did not disappoint. The chicken parmigiana and garlic knots were some of the best we ever had. My wife and I just had the best dinner at Cucina 25 in Riverhead. This was the first time we've gone here and we absolutely will be going back. Tonight happened to be pasta night which we were really happy about (pasta night menus posted below). They put bread out for the table which was italian bread and garlic knots. I love garlic knots and these were some of the best I've had, not greasy, just perfect. We both ordered a salad as part of pasta night, I had a house salad with the house dressing, I thought the dressing was a little bland, and my wife had the ceased salad which she said was very refreshing. We tried the mini rice balls to start (not part of pasta night) and OMG, amazing. I'm not a fan of cream sauces but the pink sauce that came with the rice balls was incredible. My wife ordered tortellini alla vodka and she raved about it the entire time and said she found her new favorite vodka sauce. I had angel hair di casa which has chicken, artichokes, and roasted red peppers in a lemon sauce, beyond delicious. The portions were huge and we both ended up taking more than half home and we can't wait to eat it for lunch tomorrow. We were able to pick a choice of dessert as part of the deal and I picked cannolis and my wife chose cheesecake, we had to get them to go because we were too full but we will be enjoying them as a late night snack a little later. read more

I am in awe at the positive reviews of this place so we must have gone on a bad day. We received our calamari and our mozzarella and tomato for our appetizer and it was awful. The mozzarella was so stale you couldn't cut it with your fork and it was chewy and the calamari was like chewing on bicycle tires. You know it's bad because there were four of us there that all just looked at eachother and collectively agreed to leave. All of us just thought it was awful and none of us have ever gotten up and left a restaurant before. However, our waitress was very sweet and we tipped her well before leaving. Might have to give it another try but I don't see that happening anytime soon. read more

My partner Justin and I recently moved to Baiting Hollow from Deer Park where good Italian restaurants are so close in proximity. I was hesitant that we would find a good Italian restaurant and tried a few by the new house and were ok UNTIL we found Cucina 25!!!!! Chicken parm and pizza was so good but my favorite and why this restaurant is now dear to my heart is their stuffed shells taste like my nanna used to make in Sicily!!!! Every bite has your mouth watering and when you taste the shell it always tastes fresh which is huge to an Italiano! Staff is great and the owner is such a nice guy! I love their food so much that I had them cater two parties for us and the portions are huge and well worth the money!!!! I'm hooked and love this place so much! read more

i have eaten there twice now for their pasta night on Monday's when i visit my Mother who lives in Riverhead. Their $14.95 Pasta night special is HARD to beat. It includes a soup or salad, bread and a choice of pasta or lasagna, ziti, etc. It also include a dessert choice of either a Canolli, cheese cake, ice cream or a sorbet, as well as coffee or tea. Ashley is their server, and she is very attentive, (although some times spread a little thin, as she is really the only server in the dinning room). The food is delicious. I have traveled extensively around the world on business travel and have eaten at some truly five star restaurants. Which is why I cave them a four star rating. In my humble opinion, in the world of Riverhead : I would give this place a five star rating. read more

The pizza was delicious. But the wings -- THE WINGS -- were among the best I've ever had without a doubt. We weren't expecting that, they were tacked onto the order the way wings typically are. Was in Riverhead for a week long business trip. Ordered food twice for delivery. Delivery was quick and efficient. The delivery person was very nice and respectful. The portions are large for the price. The food, however, was lacking. They should pay more attention to quality control. For example, I ordered a calzone. The calzone was under-baked, and as a result, the dough was raw in some spots. The calzone was large, enough for 2, and a bargain at the price point. However, half of it was inedible due to the raw dough and was discarded. It would he been good if baked properly. The meatballs were bland and had so much bread or breadcrumbs worked into the meat that you could not taste the meat. The spaghetti was overcooked and nowhere near al dente. The tomato sauce is typical pizzeria sauce and is nothing special. read more

Let me just tell you how great these guys are!!!! First off the food was delicious. I picked up a meatball parm and linguini with clam sauce. The clam sauce leaked onto the meatball parm, and my employee was allergic to seafood. I called them up and explained to them what happened. The guy I spoke with on the phone said he will DELIVER the meatball parm to us!!! Totally unexpected and so sweet! Went again with a group and must say Ashley is a super wait serve person. The food is good, our group was completely satisfied with what they ordered. However, serving too much pasta. Texas size rather than traditional Italian size. Yes I took the leftover home, but it was enough for three people. I can't believe how much, I'd rather a third of the amount of pasta and more spinach in my Florentine. I ordered angel hair pasta for health reasons and thought I got at least a half pound of it. Chicken was tender, but so very little spinach. Couldn't even think of dessert. They do serve salad first. Overall a great place to bring teenagers and very hungry adults. read more

This place is small and quaint. I came here 3 times to be able to write a fair review. The food is ok. I had the lobster ravioli one visit and I wasn't impressed. There was no indication that there was lobster or any type of seafood in this dish. Tasted like a bland ravioli in a pink creamy sauce. I attempted the fried calamari twice. Both times it was super bland and no flavor what so ever. I also ordered the penne ala vodka. This dish was pretty decent. But didn't win me over. The salads tasted as if they were sitting in a fridge for days. The pizza is way better than the meals. And I only tried this place so many times because this was the closest lunch place for where my job was located for that time. read more

Will not return. Ordered grilled chicken with roasted vegetables. Chicken was okay but vegetables were boiled and wet with no seasoning or flavor and there was a strand of spaghetti mixed in, proof they boiled the veggies. My friend ordered a panini; the cheese wasn't melted, the bread wasn't toasted and there wasn't any balsamic vinegar which was supposed to be in this sandwich. She kept dipping it in the oil they served with the bread. Pass this one by; there are better places around. read more

I don't think I have ever given a restaurant five stars, mostly because it's so rare that any one restaurant manages to hit the main four marks for me: 1. Good food 2. Generous portions 3. Reasonable prices 4. Great service. Cucina 25, which my wife and I tried for the first time tonight, really hit a grand slam for us. Let me be clear. This is NOT a hoity-toity, linen table cloth kind of Italian restaurant with the bow-tie-clad waiters serving snack-sized portions of mediocre food at Park Avenue prices. When you first walk in, it's a pizza joint, until you see the cozy little dining area off to the right. And then, when the owners greet you like they truly are happy to see you, you know that this is someplace awesome. I can't comment on the pizza slices, because we only walked past the counter on our way to a table for two. The place was empty at 5pm on a Saturday night, but within an hour, it was buzzing and filled with friendly people, many of whom seemed to be regulars; others who, like us, were attending a show at the Suffolk Theater half a block away. I loved this place before I tasted a morsel of food! I have to say that the bread was kind of so-so, but it was the only thing that I can say anything negative about. The mesculin salad we ordered as a starter ($10) was so huge and so packed with good stuff that I was ready to ask for a check right after it. EXCELLENT salad! My wife ordered what they call a "Personal Pizza." She had about a slice-and-a-half, loved it, but couldn't eat another bite. This thing would definitely have been enough for the two of us. At least we have lunch for tomorrow, though. I had eggplant parmigiana (without the cheese) over linguini. Really good red sauce, which is a must to make this dish taste good without the mozzarella. I'm a small guy with a huge appetite, and I was no match at all for the portion they put in front of me. I can't remember the last time I ever left food on my plate. This may have been the first! Of course, because it was our anniversary, we HAD to have dessert, so we ordered a Brownie Sunday and a slice of Tiramisu. We had to ask the waiter to hold off on serving them for about ten minutes so we could force some silent burps and make some room. (Too graphic? Sorry!) Anyway, both were ample and excellent -- way better than average. Our server (sorry, man...I did not get your name) was one of the best I've ever had. Really accommodating and never made us feel like he was doing us a favor, which is rare these days. The woman who lit our candle, brought us the bread basket, and kept the mood "lite" was also a pleasure to have around. She must be related to one of the owners. Finally, the price. Living on the Gold Coast of Long Island, I am used to spending at least a half-day's salary for a meal that doesn't leave me hungry. Maybe because it's all the way "out" in Riverhead, this place really goes easy on you when the check comes. We had a humongous salad, two mains, a soft drink, a coffee, and two desserts for $60. Our favorite restaurant in the Syosset-Woodbury area (where we live) would cost us $75 for half that amount of food. Bottom line: If you don't need fancy schmancy and you're in the mood for good old (what I affectionately call) "sloppy" Italian food, don't think twice about checking out Cucina 25 the next time you are in Riverhead. We live too far away to make it our regular place, but we will definitely be back the next time we see a show at the Suffolk Theater. read more
