I don't think I have ever given a restaurant five stars, mostly because it's so rare that any one restaurant manages to hit the main four marks for me: 1. Good food 2. Generous portions 3. Reasonable prices 4. Great service. Cucina 25, which my wife and I tried for the first time tonight, really hit a grand slam for us. Let me be clear. This is NOT a hoity-toity, linen table cloth kind of Italian restaurant with the bow-tie-clad waiters serving snack-sized portions of mediocre food at Park Avenue prices. When you first walk in, it's a pizza joint, until you see the cozy little dining area off to the right. And then, when the owners greet you like they truly are happy to see you, you know that this is someplace awesome. I can't comment on the pizza slices, because we only walked past the counter on our way to a table for two. The place was empty at 5pm on a Saturday night, but within an hour, it was buzzing and filled with friendly people, many of whom seemed to be regulars; others who, like us, were attending a show at the Suffolk Theater half a block away. I loved this place before I tasted a morsel of food! I have to say that the bread was kind of so-so, but it was the only thing that I can say anything negative about. The mesculin salad we ordered as a starter ($10) was so huge and so packed with good stuff that I was ready to ask for a check right after it. EXCELLENT salad! My wife ordered what they call a "Personal Pizza." She had about a slice-and-a-half, loved it, but couldn't eat another bite. This thing would definitely have been enough for the two of us. At least we have lunch for tomorrow, though. I had eggplant parmigiana (without the cheese) over linguini. Really good red sauce, which is a must to make this dish taste good without the mozzarella. I'm a small guy with a huge appetite, and I was no match at all for the portion they put in front of me. I can't remember the last time I ever left food on my plate. This may have been the first! Of course, because it was our anniversary, we HAD to have dessert, so we ordered a Brownie Sunday and a slice of Tiramisu. We had to ask the waiter to hold off on serving them for about ten minutes so we could force some silent burps and make some room. (Too graphic? Sorry!) Anyway, both were ample and excellent -- way better than average. Our server (sorry, man...I did not get your name) was one of the best I've ever had. Really accommodating and never made us feel like he was doing us a favor, which is rare these days. The woman who lit our candle, brought us the bread basket, and kept the mood "lite" was also a pleasure to have around. She must be related to one of the owners. Finally, the price. Living on the Gold Coast of Long Island, I am used to spending at least a half-day's salary for a meal that doesn't leave me hungry. Maybe because it's all the way "out" in Riverhead, this place really goes easy on you when the check comes. We had a humongous salad, two mains, a soft drink, a coffee, and two desserts for $60. Our favorite restaurant in the Syosset-Woodbury area (where we live) would cost us $75 for half that amount of food. Bottom line: If you don't need fancy schmancy and you're in the mood for good old (what I affectionately call) "sloppy" Italian food, don't think twice about checking out Cucina 25 the next time you are in Riverhead. We live too far away to make it our regular place, but we will definitely be back the next time we see a show at the Suffolk Theater. read more

Extremely good all around. Spontaneously stopped with a girlfriend for lunch while 'out east'. Never been and so glad we picked from choices in area. Prices good and wasn't crowded. Part pizza place part Italian restaurant. Bread basket contained some Italian bread and a few garlic knots. Yummy! We shared clams casino for an appy. OMG! They were excellent. My friend said best she's had. Said even the bed of greens they were served on was remarkably good. She had angel hair (special pasta request) bolognese and I had penne florentine. Both delicious, came with a fresh side salad and the portions big. We both left with a doggy bag. Love that! Service was excellent and staff friendly and attentive. Place has good vibe. My boyfriend and I had tickets to see Mama Mia at the Suffolk Theater this past Saturday so we made 6pm reservations here and OH MY! What a pleasant experience from the friendly greeting we received at the door to the moment we left. The staff were ALL fantastic and the food was DELICIOUS! We ordered the large Gorgonzola salad, a chicken parmigiana dinner and a personal meatball and ricotta pizza. ALL YUMMY! The portions are huge and the prices are super reasonable. I've been going here since it opened and I usually order the white pizza or i get a meatball parm, and I've never been disappointed, so today a called in for a Chicken Francaise' (I'm not even sure if that's spelled right lol ) but let me tell you, it was straight up killer, even the penne pasta was perfectly aldenta and the chicken was outrageous! The place itself is clean quiet and done just right with very nice Italian style decor ,the service is right up there with the food and atmosphere, I would strongly recommend anyone to bring their family or coworkers out to this establishment ,you certainly won't be let down! What can I say. This place is great. Great service. Excellent food. I went with my husband and my son for my birthday after visiting the aquarium. This was a great find. We started with the calamari which was the best I have ever had. Then we ordered the shrimp scampi with linguine, and my husband had the Italian surf and turf which is veal and shrimp over pene. OMG. delicious. Portions are huge can definitely can be shared. The service was amazing. As soon as our food arrived someone came over to see if it was we wanted and asked if we needed anything else. That was the first time I have ever seen such service. Then had a slice a chocolate cake with a candle. I was stuffed from the food so we decided to take the cake home to able tok enjoy it better. This place is one of my favorite places to eat. The food is amazing and the cauliflower pizza outstanding.

Dinner was subpar , salad was tasteless and stale. Desert never came but was part of the dinner price. The place was too crowed for the staff to handle and o can only assume there's a sole cook in the back. Probably good place for a slice of pizza but that's about it. WE have been going to Cucina 25 for a very long time but lately its been downhill. The restaurant is always cold. Tonight Valentines day we went early 5:30PM. The special menu $30 pp. All good except already out of the soup. Out of Garlic Knots. waited 20 minutes for drinks. Finally got the drinks with soup for 2 but we were 4 people. The olther 2 got the mozzarella caprece 15 minutes later and they are cold. Dinner finally came. Past on 3 dishes was dry and 1 had the wrong pasta. They were getting angel hair with marinara and that took 20 minutes to fix. WE got dessert but they couldn't even bother to take a coffee order. Used to go 2x a month now we will go 0. read more

I eat here because I go to school right next door. Its a quick bite for me when I have a break between classes but this made me stop eating there immediately. I ordered 2 slices of pizza that were alright but half way through the slice i pulled out a long string of plastic that was under the layer of cheese and over the dough. First time in this town. Here for one day of business. Walked down the street looking for late dinner. Saw a few places and decided to take a chance here. Glad I stopped. What a great meal. Garlic knots came out first and were awesome. They had a little bit of a pretzel feel to them so they were a little different but in a great way. Not greasy or overpowering. I ordered the the pasta fagioli for my first course. Soup was fantastic. Homemade taste. I would have liked just a tad less salt but it was so good. I got the Penne Florentine. It was delicious. It has a lot of cheese in it so if you like cheese, you will like this. Dessert came with the meal and I opted for the pistachio gelato. Also tasty. My friend had the lasagna and said it was very good. It looked good and it was huge. I wish I could come here more often because there are so many things I would love to try here, including the pizza. The service was also incredibly friendly and the prices were very reasonable, especially for the portions. I had to take half my pasta home because I was so full. This is a really cute spot in a small town. I had went wine tasting nearby earlier that day and was looking for a place to eat dinner. We were in the mood for pasta so we looked on handy dandy Yelp and poof! This place popped up. The service was extremely attentive and friendly. Most importantly the food was good! For an appetizer we decided to go with the lobster raviolis because that is one of my favorite dishes of all time. The raviolis were really good and did not disappoint. For my entree I decided to go with the chicken parm. This entree is huge! It first comes with a side salad which was fresh. I asked for ranch sauce and that was really good as well. When my actual dish came out I could not believe how much food was on that plate! Needless to say I enjoyed my meal but I definitely had leftovers. This is a nice place to grab dinner. This place has become something of a family favorite. It is a place that you look for something negative to say about it, but there simply isn't anything negative about it. Prices are very reasonable for food of this caliber, and despite having a healthy appetite, I can rarely finish my entire dinner, as the portions are beyond generous. Sean, one of the owners, is always gracious and accommodating, and his servers are mostly delightful and friendly. Discovered this place when I was on business to the Long Island area. Ordered the chicken parm sandwich and it was very wholesome and filling (I only at half and had to eat the other half for lunch the next day). The only thing I knocked was the garlic bread. I saw a picture of garlic knots but couldn't find them anywhere on the menu so I settled for garlic bread. It was ok and nothing to get excited about. Didn't have enough garlic in my opinion. The food is outrageous. You can pick from pizzas, soups, apps and dinner and deserts. Large selections of varieties of pizzas. Pizzas are so good two meatballs are going out of state to Statesboro, Georgia. Owners are welcoming and very knowledgeable their recipes are a reflection of who they are. We are now on strike two (for two) with this place. We only tried a second time because they're the only pizza place around that delivers. I don't know how they can send this food out. The first time the lasagna was so salty we couldn't eat it. This time we stuck with pizza. They said 45 minutes to an hour, it was almost an hour and a half and the pie tasted like it was 3 days old and reheated. (And then got cold again). So disappointed. And it wasn't cheap, 30$ for a half sausage and pepper, half plain pie and a small antipasto. The small antipasto was fine, but how anyone in New York can think this is good pizza is beyond me. I would not go back for the dinner, but I would like to try a pizza slice. My family and I were very very disappointed with everything we received last evening. Soups were not great at all. Never had pasta fagioli soup with chunks of pepperoni. Marinara sauce just overbearing and too sweet. Extremely disappointed to receive canned clam sauce. Was explained to me that we use fresh and canned clams. No. You decorate the plate with fresh clams, BUT the clam sauce is CANNED. It was like a clamsauce plate I receive when I go to a local beach club and order it, but that is to be expected. Was told most places use canned and fresh. NOT TRUE. read more

Just had an amazing dinner at Cucina 25! The homemade sesame bread and garlic knots were amazing! The salad cold,crispy and delicious! The the lobster raviolis appetizer was so delicious as well. I ordered penne bolognese and my daughter had the baked raviolis for dinner, both were delicious! Food was fresh and the servings were enough for 2 people.
