Atmosphere - Living in Reno I do not make the trek to visit Carson City enough. I had been to the Union a few times and new this place was being built. I did not know that the first restaurant in this location had already closed. The single wolf theme is strong. We sat in the bar area, only area large enough for a group our size. Food Drinks - I was surprised I did not see more local craft beers on the menu. One from the Union, just down the street, and they had two from Reno, and one Italian beer. I went with the Dirty Wookie from Brewer's Cabinet. Appetizers - They just kept coming out, did not even know they were ordered. I think the table agrees the Brussel sprouts where the star of the night. The head chef came out and even talked about how they cook them. Cook them fast is the tip. Dinner - Cabanora is my friend, and he was at the top of the menu. So I had the Bucatini Cabanora, the egg was already added the creamy sauce. I love it when they egg is poached on top, but not the case here. The pancetta was beautiful, a fancy Italian ham to give a little saltiness to the dish. The star ingredient for the dish was the Bucantini pasta. House made pasta that just tender enough to hold that sauce. For an extra two dollars they will make your pasta gluten free which is a great option for my wife. Service - Our waiter was great dealing with two tables of eight, is not an easy thing. Guys! I broke my diet tonight and decided to dine on some DELICIOUS Italian cuisine. The Mister asked if I wanted to do date night with him and of course I said yes. We've pretty much hit everywhere in Carson City, except Cucina Lupo (which obviously is new). Lemme just say. Best. Way. To. Break. A. Diet. EVER. Fresh, delicious, creamy, robust, spicy (but not too), local, homegrown, and amazing all come come to mind when recalling this meal. I'm so very excited that Chef Mark Estee has decided to put this gem of a restaurant in Carson. The Mister ordered the Paella. It was perfection in a skillet. I think his exact words were, "Homemade to a T!" I ordered the Mushroom Raviolis. Just typing that out made my mouth water a bit! I'm the kinda girl that likes her pasta a little on the chewy side, with texture and flavor. Can I just say... o.m.g?! Fresh and homemade pasta is what was delivered on the plate! It made me wiggle and dance in my seat a little! My taste buds may have done the Ballu Tundu dance! Cannoli. Oh... cannoli! The pistachio filling in the cannoli! I might have dreams about it. And the hazelnut chocolate cream in the other cannoli? Overall, very satisfied and think Cucina Lupo will do well as long as they keep quality food and good service. A friend recommended this restaurant, and we really enjoyed it! Waiter was friendly and spent a lot of time answering our questions and describing the menu. I'm gluten free and he assured me they could work with my gluten requirements on about 90% of the menu! Customizing the entrees! Wow, my dream restaurant! I had Chicken Picata which was amazing! Heirloom tomatos with fresh mozzarella and balsamic drizzle which was incredible, and I shared a beet salad that would cause me to return, if for nothing else, just that!! We met up our family in Carson at this restaurant while we visited and stayed South Lake Tahoe, which was about 35 minutes away. The foods were below par and I think their price was high for the quality that was served. We had the bruchetta with tomato and balsamic vinegar, brussel sprouts for appetizer; and squid ink spaghetti, and their nightly risotto for entrees. The bruschetta was served on a soggy and thick focaccia bread which was not good. My squid ink spaghetti is overly spicy, shrimp overcooked, and tiny clams that totally overwhelmed by the spice. The nightly risotto was served with sausage and mushroom and also overly spicy for a risotto. The brussel sprouts were fried too much that it burned and bitter. A few staffing issues and wrong orders in FEB., but it's not fair to rate any restaurant on staffing issues when the COVID issues affected everyone! Two times since then, I only joined friends in the bar area and the female bartender was awesome! Fast, accurate and hospitable! The outside patio is great too! A clean, organized, aesthetically pleasing ambiance, with great food items on the menu.... Definitely going again! read more

Dinner here was a wonderful experience! When we walked through the door we were greeted by Heather who had a big smile and cheerful face! We wee seated immediately without a reservation. Our appetizers and dinners were delicious. All of the staff are very friendly. They came to our table to ask how our meal was! As far as rye food, it was excellent! This restaurant makes Italian dishes with an American twist. I had raviolis that had a brisket inside and brown gravy sauce over the top. Tasted good, like a pot roast ravioli. Fun place to try new ideas... If you like to experiment with food and like Italian this could be the place for you! read more

Service was great. Food was terrible. I love Italian food, especially pastas and its usually hard for me to hate on a dish. We were told that the chef makes the mushroom pasta and their sister restaurant in Reno makes most of the other pastas.. But I highly doubt that's true as I can boil better pasta from the box that would be better than this. You know when you reheat pasta dishes the next day? The meat is dry and the ends are dried out and the pasta is oily? That's what the Porcini Campanelle was like. The steak was terrible.. No words.. Even if I went to the grocery to buy a steak and cooked it to a crisp.. It was still have more flavor and be more tender than this steak. I don't understand how we chose the best rated restaurant in town.. And it was that terrible... I really haven't eaten in a restaurant that bad in ages. Were they on an off day?? OMG!! This place is a hidden gem! Sat in the patio- looooove outdoor seating! First time here - between 3 of us we had the cauliflower appetizer, the Arancini balls, the beet salad and lobster pasta. FANTASTIC! The beet salad was not overdressed and so delicious. The cauliflower was insane (fair warning- better when hot but still good at room temp.)... the arancini was stuffed with melted cheese and the sauce was amazing. Can't recommend highly enough!!! *edited* Decided to have dessert - caramel Budini is a can't miss!! read more

I've always liked the food at this restaurant. My husband ordered the Veal Picatta and it was cut to thick and had a lot of grizzle. I had the special, lobster risotto and it was very salty and very chewy. The 2 entrees came to $72. Will give them another try but we were very disappointed. we found this place as part of a wine walk we did a number of months ago. based on that experience, we wanted to go back for lunch. we are glad we did. we started with a glass of wine for her, and an old fashioned for myself. a very pleasant start. i ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and she, the italian stallion. while we waited for the sandwiches, we had the soup of the day, which was a watercress based, slice of heaven. thick, creamy, delightful! our sandwiches arrived... i don't know which of the meats she gave me from the stallion to try, but they need to make a faux, BLT....it was SO good, i felt like the floating, cartoon dog, snuffles! when we were finished, we were presented with the desert, budino, and i must say, as a caramel fanatic, "buon Dio". it was a cozy atmosphere, the staff was attentive. the service never faulted, and the food was wonderful. the only down fall we found was the tiramisu. it needs a serious revamping. that said, yes we will now go back to try the dinner menu. grazie! abbiamo avuto una grande esperienza! read more

One of my favorite places, we decided to go here for a date night on the patio. The reservation process (on Resy) was easy and the hostess was friendly, Our table was outside and it was a beautiful spring evening. (Had we come a bit later, we might have needed the heater near our table.) We ordered the bruschetta, but when I was trying to tell the waiter which ones we wanted, he kind of said "ok, yeah" and walked away like had it. When it came out, 3/4 were correct. They were tasty and my entree - the pork belly angliotti- is soooo good. The only problem I had with our experience was the waiter - who we have had before - with a similar experience. He seems to be busy and is not overly friendly. Which is fine, but he also isn't actually friendly. We aren't super needy or picky, but I would like a bit more attention and time. Regardless, we will always be back. Can't wait to have the pork belly again.... read more

Servings were ginormous. Service was super friendly and very efficient. I got lucky and a parking spot opened up just as I drove up.

Wasn't impressed. Service was excellent. Wine list is extensive. Lasagna was dry, without a lot of flavor but it did taste homemade, the sauce did not taste out of a jar. Allisha and the staff were amazing, she was very helpful through our the process to get a menu set up for the group and all the appetizers she recommended were delicious! The food was so great I didn't get a chance to take pictures. 5 star service. read more

I just can't say enough about this amazing restaurant. From the hosting staff, management, sommelier and chef to the wine and food- this is hands down one of the best restaurants in Carson City. After moving to Carson City a few years ago I really couldn't find a place that I liked to for a fun date night. Lupo is that place. We drove down from Reno on a whim and were delighted with our first visit to Lupo's. We shared the bucatini and a special swordfish dish, then finished with an excellent tiramisu. The swordfish was cooked perfectly with a delightful light sauce, complemented with crispy polenta and broccolini side dishes. I would recommend the chef add this to the menu permanently! The bucatini was fresh from a place in Reno; the difference (of fresh from dried store-bought) was astounding. The caper and lemon sauce completed the dish and made for a delicious, light pasta dish perfect for a warm early evening. The tiramisu was a very good finish to an excellent meal. Stopped in for dinner tonight and I am glad we did. Started with cocktails and bruschetta appetizer. I had an aperol spritz and hubby had a maple walnut old fashioned. He said it was one of the best old fashioned he's had. We tried 4 different bruschetta toppings-the olive and caper was our favorite, the pesto and tomato was also good. The bacon raisin jam was ok, but a bit too sweet, same with the fig and prosciutto. Entrees were both very good. The carbonara didn't not disappoint and the paella was good but it was missing the best part-the crispy crust at the bottom of the pan. However, the flavor was good with a little citrus and spice to it. Overall a good experience. Wait staff was also great :) read more

We're local. A couple weeks ago, we had our third try at this restaurant. I had a risotto which was over the top salty. I think it would have been very good if the "cook" (not chef) hadn't dumped the salt shaker in it. My husband's traditional Italian wasn't that good. The sauce was very thick and heavy tasting. The meal was very expensive. There are better places to eat for the price - we won't be back. read more
