Phenomenal food & phenomenal waitress ERIN!!! homemade pasta to die for & amazing drinks too.

I love the food here. They have aa great red sauce and make home made pasta. Came with a few friends, I got the twin pork chops dish with vinegar peppers which was great. My friends got the burrata salad and baked seafood and they were both happy with their meal. They have pre fixe meals, 5$ martinis and wines before 6 o'clock everyday. Great deal. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars was the wait time. We came in at 5:30, didn't get our soup for 40 minutes. It took over an hour to get food which we didn't expect dining early. Then our waitress left a bill that was off by one hundred dollars over. When I brought it to her attention she said she accidentally added two bills together. I don't know how you possibly do that. When we got the bill back it wasn't itemized they were just a few totals together. I don't even know if the bill was correct but we had to get to a show and I didn't have time to scrutinize it. I think they need to update their system and give people itemized bills we should know what we're paying for. Good thing I noticed the discrepancy in my bill or we would have paid an extra hundred dollars.... read more

LOVE this place! I've been a number of times, have sat at a table once but mostly at the bar. Food is always fantastic! Best pink sauce in RI hand's down. I've tried the steak specials a couple of times and it was cooked to perfection and decadent. I normally stick to local beer, they have a pretty decent selection in cans, no taps (not a concern to me but may be to some). They carry some local whiskeys and my favorite local rum Thomas Tew. The wine list looks good but I haven't yet tried any. Service has always been friendly and on point, they've even offered a complimentary cordial at the end of my meals when sitting at the bar. Probably my favorite 'Italian' restaurant in RI currently! Try the radiatore pasta, it holds the sauce so well. read more

With the vast amount of Italian restaurants out there this one sets it self apart. Decor inside is warm and inviting. Host was very friendly. The waitstaff was both knowledgeable and accommodating to anything we needed. They were really on top of their game. I am Italian and every Italian restaurant I dine at I always get the bolognese whether as a pasta course or a main course. I feel it's a great representation of how much love a restaurant puts into their food. Such a basic dish but it will always be a little different at every place u have it. Well folks this place didn't disappoint. U could tell the pasta was fresh, salted well and cooked perfectly. The sauce itself had such a depth of flavor and u could taste the layers that were built upon one another...one of the best bolognese I have tried in the RI / MA area. Have been living in Cranston now for two years and cannot believe my search for homemade pasta was right in front of my eyes! My husband and I stopped in early on a Saturday night. They have an INCREDIBLE special everyday before 6pm: 4 courses for $22. You literally cannot beat that! My husband got the soup (chicken escarole was amazing), calamari (a little too chewy for me), chicken Parm with homemade radiatori (excellent), and a conoli; I got a salad, mussels (in a spicy red broth that was to die for), the star of the night was white bean escarole with handmade rigatoni and pancetta! Two full meals and a bottle of wine for $75! Can't beat it! read more

I took my aunt and my sister here for lunch for their birthdays. We started out at two other places, but it was Monday, and all we saw were CLOSED signs. So, I turned to YELP and found Cucina Rustica. I'm happy the other places were closed!! First, we shared calamari which was perfectly cooked. It was beautifully presented with 3 sides - marinara, aioli, and excellent red pepper relish. My aunt totally enjoyed the eggplant raviolis. My sister had the meatball burger (half went home because the sandwich is simply massive). I had the escarole & beans with house made pasta. It was EXCELLENT!! Half went in a box and was even better the next day! The waiter brought a tiramisu and ricotta cheesecake for the birthday girls. Everything was excellent!! Service, food, nice décor. Came here when it was named La Rosa, it was pretty good then and it's still good now. I went to the newly named Cucina Rustica twice now and have been very happy with my meals. First time I tried their homemade pasta with bolognese and it was perfect. Second time around I tried their Cioppino and it was savory and the portion was very good for the price. The reason I'm decking one star is because the options are small especially for pasta dishes. For a place that make their own pasta, I really wished they had more options. I would lean more towards 4.5 stars if I could. Their desserts are also delisious, make sure to save some space for dessert. read more

Went here as a party of 4 after a 60 mile bike ride (I was famished) and Cucina Rustica delivered. The service was excellent and the food even better. Ordered an antipasto salad to get the circulation going, it was one of the best I've ever had. Loved the big fat meatballs and the calamari was fresh and crispy! It's been a while since I've had a calamari with such a delicious homemade gravy and not some processed crap. After dinner is a complimentary serving of sambuca! What a meal! read more

This place has been my go-to for Italian for about 6 months now. My wife and I have been here about 9 or 10 times and every meal was just as good as the first. We always request Makyla for our server because since the first visit she made us feel at home and told us what her favorites were, which we love. So what brings us back? For me its the Cajun Blackened Salmon Alfredo.. It was a special on my first day and I've been thinking about it ever since. So i kept asking for it and the chef keeps making it for me lol. He also comes down to our table to check on us and make sure everything is to our liking. The homemade radiatorre pasta is perfect and warms up well too. My wife is a chicken parm nut and she is in her glory at Cucina Rustica. Definitely our favorite place for Italian food. Tender calamari, fresh raw bar, and the charcuterie board is the best around! Pair that with one (or two) of the best Manhattans I have ever had and you have the start to a great meal. The wine list has excellent value in a great selection that pairs well with all of their entrees, especially the fresh made tagliatelle. First time at this cool restaurant. Food excellent- try the huge meatball and whipped ricotta! The pasta is house-made, which makes the visit completely worthwhile. This was a bad experience period. I am new to the area, but I am Italian and my son is a chef and I can cook. I ordered chicken parmigiana and it came a salad. I asked for a Caesar with the dressing on the side. I received bread with butter odd in an Italian restaurant, usually you get olive oil. The salad arrived, but it really wasn't a Caesar it was with spinach. I like spinach so I just ate it. My main course arrived, the chicken and side pasta were served in different plates. The pasta, I asked for angel hair, was more like spaghetti kind of clumped up in a bowl, odd way to present pasta. The chicken was presented on a flat plate heavily sauced, to the point where that's all you could see was sauce. The pasta was ok not horrible, but was not angel hair was ordered. I tried the chicken while the cook was ok all I tasted was the sauce. I was not impressed with either ate a few bites and politely called my server and explained my disappointment. She got the manager Kelly and I explained to her my overall my experience was not favorable. I told her my reasons, she listened apologized and offered me a gift card to return, I declined her offer. To be honest I didn't believe a return visit would change my opinion. I thanked her and she politely left. Then the chef came out to ask what I didn't like all this was done politely. I explained my opinions and he listened intently, which I appreciated. We chatted and he also asked me to return, which again I declined. While I appreciated their efforts to persuade me to return I would will not respectfully because there are many other places I can eat and enjoy. So I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now...I liked it when it was La Rosa's....but what a mistake. I don't know how this place gets such a good rating...cus the food is nothing to leave home for....I got a special which was seared scallops over risotto, first of all the scallops weren't even cooked through....and second the risotto was like wallpaper paste, absolutely no flavor all, I didn't even finish it....it certainly wasn't worth the $27 they charged for it. My mother got the sole franchise, which was ok, nothing spectacular, didn't care for sauce that much though. The menu is very limited, didn't really see and that jump out at me, not to mention the only had 1 veal dish. I have eaten at this venue on multiple occasions and I only have great things to say about it. I will never judge a venue based on one visit and therefore I had to visit on different days of the week and at different times of the day. My latest visit was on 05/12/2018. It was a very busy night as there was a large birthday party, a party being hosted in the private room, and, on top of it all, it is "graduation season" for colleges. Every visit I try something new--this time around was the Bianca Pizza. I knew that a pizza would likely take a little while longer than other meals on the menu, however, the atmosphere, ambience, and the great company were enough to keep me satisfied while I waited for my food. Moreover, my server, Kate, was amazing--she was "on the ball." I could tell she was busy serving multiple tables, however, she very attentive continually checking in on us throughout the night. shortly thereafter, the pizza arrived. To my delight, it was piping hot, cooked to perfection, straight out of the brick oven. The sweetness of the caramelized onions and the salty cheese was to die for. Granted, I have a weak spot for foods that embrace the dichotomy of salty and sweat, but Cucina executed it perfectly. After I finished my meal, I stayed for the entertainment. She was amazing. I have seen many female vocalists, but she was much more. she performed songs that made me want to get up and dance. Aside from her amazing voice, she was charismatic and had great energy. She mainly performed covers, but she also sang an original song. (It's not in english, but I fell in love with it) Overall, the night was a great culmination to all of my visits. Although they were busier than usual, I have worked in the restaurant business for many years, and I know that not every day/night can be your best. I never once felt like I was not attended to or that this last visit suffered due to the busyness of the night. Lastly, before I end my review (sorry so long), I read another review from the same night, and I found it ridiculous. It was just that funny. They mentioned cold bread...the bread it supposed to be cold. I can't speak to their food, but I know I have had an amazing time on all of my visits. As for her comment on the entertainment, I am not sure what you were listening to, but that wasn't karaoke. Moreover, they said she [the entertainer] was the only person singing in the small restaurant full of people...I am sorry, but did they expect a full band playing in the "small restaurant full of people?" They make no sense. Reviews like that are just ridiculous and I think the overall rating of the restaurant speaks for itself, but visit the restaurant and check it out for yourself. read more

Went to visit my friends at Cucina Rustica last night..As soon as you walk in the front door you feel at home! The fire from the brick pizza oven in the exposed kitchen catches your eye as well as the beautiful decor! It's such a chic rustic Italian feel that makes you want to explore every inch of the menu and indulge in the homemade pastas and endless selection of wines! If you're trying to learn more about pairing wines like I am, check out the wine pairing recommendations listed after each course options. You don't see this at many restaurants, and nothing makes your food taste better than a savory wine to compliment the flavors of the dish..nicely done! If you're in the mood for a delicious homemade pasta, I highly recommend the white bean, escarole, and pancetta dish with homemade rigatoni and a side of garlic bread...I literally couldn't stop! Excellent venue! I've only been here while renting their event space for a work function but the food, service and atmosphere was top notch. This place is AMAZING !!! Compared to all the other Italian restaurants I've eaten at in RI, this one is top notch. Don't get me wrong, there's a great selection of eatery's in the area but not like this. It's the closest thing to the hill me and my wife have had in RI. I've eaten at Cucina many times and I always get a pasta dish (all made FRESH in house daily) usually the bolognese, it's the best I've ever had. You gotta try the charred romaine salad, it's to die for. My wife loves the salmon w/the risotto, she gets that every time. We had a private event here, and the food was superb. We did it on a April 4th on Tuesday night and everything was great. Everyone loved their pasta, salmon, prime rib, salads everything i mean everything was great. We had about 30 people, and everyone loved the food. I am not a pasta lover and their pasta is spectacularly good. The owner is very nice. She was very helpful and helping with dates and ideas. She was very approachable. The staff was great too. Always delicious food. We love Kate she's an awesome server. One of my favorite dishes is the salmon risotto and I love love the brick chicken so tender. My friend and I love having dinner here, we always enjoy the music as well, they have a talented young lady that sings there and we enjoy her.This is an awesome local business family owned and they work very hard. The restaurant gets busy at times and it can be a little of a wait but we understand because it is a venue that focuses on quality of the food and drinks they bring out to their guests.
