I would have left a lower rating, but I'm a local and have been dining here for over a decade, so I'm taking all of those wonderful experiences into account. I've celebrated birthdays, my pregnancy, and many special occasions here over the years, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Tonight, my family and I came to celebrate my upcoming wedding. I made the reservation well in advance and called ahead to coordinate details because this dinner was very important to us. Unfortunately, our server, Eric, completely changed the tone of the evening. Our reservation was at 7:00 PM, but Eric did not greet our table until around 7:20. When he arrived, he immediately told us he had been sat multiple tables at once and would be taking everyone else's order before ours. He then walked away. When my mother kindly approached him to explain that this was an important wedding celebration dinner, he spent several minutes complaining about how busy and overwhelmed he was instead of addressing the issue. When he finally returned to our table, his demeanor felt tense and irritated. He even stopped his menu speech to ask what was wrong with my mom's face-she was simply shocked by his attitude thus far. We placed our drink and food orders immediately because we were already concerned about the delays. About an hour and a half after being seated, Eric came over and told us he had delayed putting our food order in because he noticed we were "still eating bread." We were shocked, as we believed the order had been placed long before that. Meanwhile, several people in our party had skipped lunch in anticipation of this dinner and were extremely hungry. As the delay continued, I spoke privately with the bartenders and explained that I was a bride-to-be trying to celebrate with family and friends, and that I was worried about how the evening was unfolding. After they spoke with Eric, he returned to the table and responded in a very curt and dismissive tone that we were "about to find out why this is such a great restaurant" before abruptly walking away. His attitude made everyone at the table visibly uncomfortable, and I was honestly mortified trying to host my guests under those circumstances. This wedding dinner meant a lot to me so I began to cry from his strange anger/attitude towards us. At that point, I requested a different server because I simply did not want another interaction with him. Thankfully, we were switched to Isaiah, who completely turned the evening around. He was kind, attentive, professional, and genuinely caring. He handled everything quickly and helped salvage what was meant to be a very special celebration. Isaiah also apologized sincerely and comped our meal, which we greatly appreciated. The food was wonderful, the atmosphere is beautiful, and every other staff member we interacted with was kind and accommodating. That's why I'm not leaving fewer stars. I truly do love this restaurant and have supported it for years. However, Eric's behavior was shockingly unprofessional and unfortunately overshadowed what should have been a joyful wedding celebration. read more

I came in here to get a latte and a dessert. When I walked in, the bartender abruptly took my friend's water bottle and put it away, without asking him, which I thought was exceptionally disrespectful and inconsiderate. I wanted to order an oatmilk latte and the bartender gave me an angry look and then told me that my latte would "take a minute" as if the order was too complicated for him. He then told me that they only have cows milk and not oat milk. He seemed irritated that we were just there for dessert and coffee. I did not appreciate his attitude and apparently Yelp removed my prior review of this establishment so I'm leaving this one. As you enter this restaurant with Old World Charm you are transported to an Italian Villa. We were seated in a private area towards the back of the restaurant and they acknowledged our anniversary with some rose petals on the table. We started with some appetizers: server was super nice and attentive. She recommended the house made focaccia bread and oh my that was delicious with a nice olive oil that had some chile peppers for a nice kick. We also ordered the Caprese appetizer which was just okay. For our main course there were several fish specials which is what I would normally order but decided to stick to the chicken Parmesan which you can't usually mess up and hubby ordered the filette do manzo or filet mignon. He said is was cooked well and came with potatoes and asparagus. I wasn't that excited about my dish because it was a bit on the salty side. For dessert we ordered the crème brûlée even though we were sooo full and it was a nice finish to our meal. Overall I would this place another try maybe it was just what I ordered but the service impeccable, ambiance is 10/10. read more

I was craving for Italian food and wine. Searched couple places and found this restaurant. Their ceasar salad offered a side of anchovies. I knew they would be authentic! We arrived to find a cute and lit patio. Restaurant was busy but we had a great server. Very attentive and told me they can modify any pasta dish to my liking. The marinara sauce that came with the calamari tasted different yet refreshing. The tomatoes were grilled. My pasta was also delicious and the ceasar salad hit the spot. read more

One of the nicer restaurants in Sedona, however if you want to eat here expect to wait for your food. It took at least 1.5 hrs before our entrees reached our table, I was starving after a long day of hiking. Our servers were apologetic, but it didn't help expedite our meal. Food - The bruschetta and kale salads were good. Definitely will get the bruschetta again! The seafood pasta was a special so it wasn't on the menu, I didn't care for it, not worth the $50 in my opinion. I got the garganelli don quixonte and its penne pasta in a spicy Cajun cream sauce, highly recommend it. I got an affogato ordered for dessert and it was not good. They charged 16 in total for it, since it wasn't on the menu I paid for gelato and an espresso shot. Drinks - extra dirty martini, was pretty well made. They also have an extensive wine list. Overall, for a total of $260 for two people, this place does not justify the price tag. Food was just average at best. read more

This was the second Lisa Dahl restaurant we visited and clearly she knows what she's doing. Efficient service, beautiful dining room, and the food was excellently prepared and flavorful. Standouts: --the "Brutus Cesare" with hearts of Romaine tossed with their signature Brutus lemon-caper dressing, shaved Parmesan, and focaccia croutons --Angelica pasta, linguine with [huge] prawns sautéed with garlic, lemon, and white wine, finished with parsley, chile, and arugula. I'll start that my husband and I are huge fans of Lisa Dahl and have enjoyed so many meals at several of her restaurants over the past decade, but sadly we were left very disappointed by Cucina Rustica. Our server was fine overall, but not on par with our other experiences at other Dahl restaurants. We had just dined at Mariposa a couple of nights before and had an excellent experience. My husband ordered the lamb chops and what came out from the kitchen were two very small chops, three wedged potatoes and four asparagus for $54. His chops were very overdone, so much so that he sent them back which he very rarely sends a meal back. It took well over 25-30 min for the re-fire to come out and again it was not as ordered. My filet was just okay and had the same three potatoes and four thin asparagus. The manager never came to ask if everything was okay or if there was anything they could do after the issue. My husband and I both have worked in the restaurant business and fine dining in the past so this really stood out to us as a major red flag. Really bad experience. I would message directly, but they did request our feedback which we did provide, but it seemed to be disregarded. Just food for thought on anyone choosing to dine here. read more

The atmosphere is beautiful, the service is excellent. I would say the food is hit or miss and some of the serving sizes are very skimpy especially for the high end cost. The first time we ate at Cucina Rustica we had a very delicious appetizer plate which was a serving for two... however only two small basically half slices of bread with which to eat a bruschetta and the other food items in the appetizer. The appetizer was very good even though the serving of bread was disappointing and a bit surprising. Our entrees were very good and were of a size that was satisfying. The second time we ate there the service was as excellent as the first visit. My husband had the chicken parmesan and the portions looked very skimpy to me and later I asked him if he thought that the portions were small and he said yes, but however his food was very good. I am sorry to say my selection of veal saltimbocca was not good. The veal was like leather and the large quantity of sauce was overpoweringly salty which made the accompanying gnocchi salty as well. The only flavor in the dish was salt. And my steamed broccoli was half warm and half cold. My dish cost $42, which considering the poorly cooked meal was exorbitant. I will still patronize this restaurant because the food that was good was very good and I believe in giving second chances. (The only difference being that next time if my food is not up to par I will tell our server.) Plus the atmosphere and the service are outstanding. read more

Well, I can't review the food because I wasn't given the opportunity to even try it. On Sunday, February 15th, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., after a wonderful weekend in Sedona and an amazing trip on the Verde Canyon Train, my family and I were looking forward to trying Cucina Rústica because it looked cute and inviting. I was completely wrong. There was no one seated in the outdoor area, and the inside of the restaurant wasn't busy at all. I walked up to the hostess stand and asked if they could accommodate a party of five. The hostess looked at me like I was the devil and said, "Oh no! I can't accommodate you. I have no room for you or your family at all, but there's a burger place up the street." I'm not sure if they were truly fully reserved, even though 90% of the restaurant was empty and it was only 6:00 p.m. or if it was because I have two kids, ages four and eight, and it didn't fit the vibe. Or maybe I just didn't match the crowd. I wasn't even given the option to wait on standby. All I can say is that I've never felt so disrespected in my life. Not that it matters to them, but I will never set foot here again. I would advise anyone who has anything in common with us not to go here either--you're not welcome. read more

We ordered the seafood pasta special and it was very good -- but imagine our shock when we realized that the seafood pasta special was SIXTY THREE DOLLARS. That's highway robbery and had I known that it would be more than a steak I would have gotten a steak! If a dish is nearly 100% more expensive than other dishes in its category the server should make that pricing clear before placing the order. That's highway robbery and taking advantage of customers ordering in good faith. We made reservations to celebrate our anniversary. The hostess seated us in a nice booth, sprinkled flower petals on our table, and wished us a happy anniversary. That was lovely and unfortunately the high point of our night. There was a violinist walking around playing chord progressions to add to the ambiance. It didn't sound like he was playing any actual songs. The mocktails were ordered were fine. Mango mocktail was very sweet. We placed our order and after 40 minutes our food hadn't come out yet. We were starving. Our waiter apologized for the delay and said the food staff was behind so he asked them to hold on serving our entrees because we hadn't received our appetizers yet, which led to more bad news. They were now out of the osso buco that I had ordered! So instead, I got the lobster pasta. The manger apologized and comped one of our appetizers. We finally received our food an hour after we ordered. The burrata appetizer was okay. There was one slice of prosciutto hidden under the focaccia. There was honey or caramelized sugar on top, which I thought was strange. The Caesar salad had more dressing than I would've liked, but I was very hungry and just ate it. The bread was good. It was warm and came with olive oil with some sort of minced herb. This probably was complimentary since we waited so long? My husband had the gnocchi and he thought it was a bit bland, but fine. I tried it and thought there was a strange after taste that I couldn't describe very well. Like a seafood brine-y taste or weird meat taste? The lobster vodka pasta was delicious, but it was no osso buco. I had high hopes for osso buco. As the night wore on we could see other tables were unhappy with their food and service. With this, we could tell our waiter wasn't very happy with having to deal with unhappy customers. Overall, we were very disappointed with this dinner. I had high hopes and came based on someone's high recommendation of this place around Christmas time a few years ago. It's sad to see that other recent reviews aren't great either. read more

It is always a treat to dine at one of Lisa Dahl's restaurants and this visit we were staying in VOC so it made sense to dine at Cucina and Italian is one of most favorite cuisines. We were impressed with the Beet Royale and we are not Beet people. My husband had the Seafood Diavolo special and I had the Vitello Saltimbocca. We were savoring every bite. The Old Fashion was made perfectly and I can count on getting a glass of Seghesio's Zinfandel. The only way the evening could have been better was a warmer night dining on the patio and getting a chance to talk with Lisa. Our last visit was with the opening of Pisa Lisa in VOC. read more

First thing is we had a reservation at 8:30. They asked if they could seat us a little later which we agreed to, and we ended up sitting around 8:40. When we got there, we asked if the kitchen closing would be a problem (since it said it closed at 9) because we would like to be seated earlier if that was the case (the table was ready the waiter just wanted to take a different order first). They told us it wouldn't be an issue, but once we were seated they hurried us to order because of the kitchen closing, which leaves a bad taste in the mouth to start. Overall though, the staff was friendly. This is also not to mention the hidden price hike where they hiked the prices by 3% but refuse to put that on the prices of the menu items themselves, I guess in fear that customers would pick somewhere else by just looking at the prices. Moving on to the food. The Ravioli was very good, with a fantastic meat sauce that went well with the goat cheese. The Angelica pasta was just okay, with the sauce being way too light. Finally, the Trout tastes good, but the sides around it did not go well with it. Tasted too much like the sauce you put in oysters. Food is good if you order the right things, but the part about the kitchen at the start was very annoying. read more

Mariposa is amazing and sets the Gold Standard for dining in Sedona, but if you can't get reservations there, the food and service is just as exceptional here. Our reservations with a friend were canceled, so we decided to try this place instead. I was able to secure same-day reservations for Sunday at 5:30 PM. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance made us feel as if we were in a different country. The waiter was fantastic; he memorized all three specials and provided great recommendations when our food arrived. Both of our meals were absolutely amazing. The highlight of our visit was meeting the owner, Lisa. She was very gracious and wanted to know how our experience was. My husband and I had dinner here on our honeymoon and it was the perfect place for a romantic and delicious dinner. FOOD - The meal was lovely. We started with the Mediterranean Sampler Plate, which was light and perfect for sharing! He was raving about this dish for days, saying it was the best meal he had on our trip to Sedona - which included a lot of great food! For dinner, I asked our serve (Eric) for a suggestion of a dry and light red. Not only did he pick one out but brought me a taste first and he totally nailed the "dry but light" I asked for. He did the same for a white suggestion for my husband. Which brings me to SERVICE - This was my favorite part. I was blown away by the service! Our server, Eric, was the best server I've ever had - kind, helpful, patient - he went out of his way to craft a wonderful meal and experience for us. He greeted us by sprinkling rose petals on our table as our reservation said we were celebrating our honeymoon. We didn't feel rushed at all, which facilitated a really lovely evening. In addition, additional staff cleared dishes and refilled water. Everyone was kind and professional. I was so impressed with the staff - they really made the experience feel like fine dining and truly an experience, not just a meal. We had already visited and enjoyed another of Chef Dahl's restaurant's (Mariposa). Five stars for food, service, ambiance, and overall experience! Hubs and I made dinner reservations at Cucina Rustica to celebrate my birthday while in Sedona. We arrived ~10 minutes early and were greeted and seated right away. There was a note in the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and we were pleasantly surprised that not only did they give us a big table (for 6), there were rose petals sprinkled on the table. I appreciate when restaurants actually pay attention to the notes in the reservation! Our server was phenomenal. He was very polite, helpful, and quick to respond! He also made great recommendations, which influenced our dinner choices. We ordered the following: Espresso martinis Burrata appetizer (special) Rustic Bruschetta Vitello Saltimbocca Chilean Sea Bass (special) Flourless chocolate torte Everything was excellent -- from the espresso martini and burrata appetizer to the entrees and dessert.
