Cuco's has been our go-to spot for girls night for years. I finally bought my fiancé here a couple months ago and he also loved it! This place is always slammed on a Friday or Saturday night though so be prepared for a wait! Fan favorites have been the quesadillas and tacos. They have several tacos to choose from and it seems like there are often new ones on the menu to try. Last time, I went with the Don Cuco burrito which was delicious! Definitely planning on getting that again! It was pretty big though so save it for a time you are really hungry. Of course, you can't visit a Mexican restaurant without margaritas and their house marg is pretty good. Multiple rounds of chips and salsa are also always necessary. Service has always been good, no matter how busy they get. Their parking lot isn't the biggest and often fills up but there is a lot behind the building for over-flow! They also have a small patio that I have yet to actually sit on. Can't wait to go back and catch up with my girls when the quarantine is over! read more

A friend had told us that this was one of her favorite places in the city! My sister and I decided to try it for breakfast. The parking lot shares with a bunch of other businesses, so we had no trouble finding a spot when we got here past 9am. There were a few others who dined in. They seem to get regulars. It's a good option for breakfast! There aren't a ton of places to choose from in this neighborhood unless you go to diners or franchises. The staff was friendly! She checked up on us and was attentive. The food came out quick! I ordered the Oaxaqueña, which were 3 potato and egg enchiladas smothered in a black bean and cheese sauce. Yum! So filling! And for a good price! A little over $8! The potatoes were sometimes cut in big chunks, which was my only complaint. But it was otherwise very delicious! My sister got el tapatío. It was a protein-packed meal! Two barbacoa tacos, eggs, chorizo mixed with potatoes, and refried beans. She was stuffed! Also, under $9! There's a salsa bar, so we tried three different salsas. They added to the flavors and were fantastic to add to my enchiladas! I love the decor. It's colorful with lots of lizard art, some stained glass, and a map of Mexico. I came here with my parents years ago and then totally forgot what it was called and forgot where it was located. I was researching a different Mexican restaurant to go to in Columbus and I stumbled upon it again! I was so happy that I was able to find it! This amazing restaurant is hidden back from Henderson in a strip mall. It is so unexpected that this place is truly amazing! Before COVID, they had a self serve chips and salsa bar with several different types of salsa. Such a fun concept! Hoping to see this back soon once the pandemic starts to subside more. We love cucos. We went on Friday night around 6pm. It was hopping! The staff is so friendly. Things took a bit longer than normal but that's ok bc we are still in a pandemic and places are short staffed. Order came out perfect. Staff was hustling! Went here after a funeral. It had great reviews, so we decided to give it a try. We walked in around 1 pm and the restaurant was about half full. We were seated right away in the back of the restaurant. Our server greeted us almost immediately. I started out with a mojito. I was very confused because it tasted like it had sour mix in it?? Someone in my party had a jumbo margarita. They really are jumbo! For an entree, I got the chicken quesadilla. It was pretty good, but then again that's really bad if you mess up a quesadilla. Ok, I know that it was 5/5, so I anticipated a wait to get carry out here. But whatever you do, don't order from the direct order (google) method on your phone and expect the food to be ready when the app/site advises it will be ready. It noted that our food would be ready in five minutes. Needless to say, I didn't believe that. So I waited a bit longer to get there. I was still waiting in the parking lot, 25 minutes after it said the food would be ready. There was nowhere to park by the way, so I was circling. I managed to circle and get close enough to the signs in the pick up spots to see what number I needed to call. Cars looked to be parked long term in those spots. Or maybe they were waiting for carry out too? If not, maybe do something about that. I don't think that anyone was in the vehicles, but I'm not certain. I found a place in front of the dumpsters out front where I could at least pull off with my flashers on. So I waited there. What a cluster. I actually drove back home (we live fairly close by) before I got the message that the food was ready. We ended up getting the food in a fairly decent amount of time, but about 35 minutes later than direct order initially indicated. Again, don't trust the pick up time. My burrito grande was cold so it must have been ready earlier. And it was full of potatoes without a lot of meat. Certainly configured differently than the last time I got it. My wife's tacos were at least warm. This place is usually really good. I understand the technical glitches with what might be a new service. But the food was subpar as well. I hate it when something like this happens at a favorite restaurant. It was disappointing this time, but 2 stars for at least being friendly! read more

Wow! This was great!!! I haven't been to Cuco's in a couple of years and this is my first time doing takeout. I'm very glad I did so. Plenty of spots in front reserved for order pick up. Call to let them know where you are and they'll come out with your food. (Honestly, I was a little disappointed. I wanted to go in just to catch a peek of it. I'm sure they would've let me walk in but I didn't want to get in their way. I have good memories of going there with my family.) (To be clear, they may have indoor dining at this time as well but I did not check to see if this was the case.) Anyway, I got to stay warm and cozy in my car, paid on their tablet device, and I was on my way back home within three minutes. As expected, they were very polite and efficient. Once I got home, I was ready to enjoy my (definitely over ordered) Cuco's meal. I ordered a large guacamole and chips, two tamales, carne tampiqueña, and, of course, a flan. :-) Same great food I remember. Do not quote me on this, but I swear it seems as if the portion was even bigger than I get at the restaurant, and that's saying a lot. All of it was quite tasty. The entree alone was a lot of food. Needless to say, I have leftovers. :-) So, if you haven't made it over to Cuco's lately, definitely make it a point to do so. Cuco's has been my favorite Mexican Restaurant in Columbus for many years. I ordered takeout a few days ago and finally want to give this place its flowers on Yelp. In its own right, the dine-in experience has always been lively yet comfortable -- from the bar to the small grocery area to the salsa bar and finally the various dining areas. But its true strength lies in its robust menu, and the food it's SO good. I tend to stick with their burritos, but recently I've ventured to their house specialties which also hit the spot. The Pollo Relleno (chicken breast topped with chorizo and queso sauce) was a great discovery several months ago. This weekend I tried their Parrillada Fajitas (grilled chicken with steak, chorizo and carnitas topped with melted cheese) and it was incredible! Served with rice, beans and all the usual fajita fixins, it was an excellent value and was easily two meals... possibly three for those with smaller appetites. Add on a horchata with a nice cinnamon flavor and you'll love your Cuco's experience. read more

We have been trying every Mexican restaurant in central Ohio. Most of the time, we are unimpressed and never return. We will return to Cuco's. The kids' meals are appropriately priced at 4.95-5.50 with a drink. That alone would keep us coming back. Service was excellent. The vibe is great. The margaritas are cheap and good. The staff was great,but the food my buddy and wasn't. After checking out some reviews, I was pretty excited to eat here. Our server was patient with my Spanish and spoke to me in Spanish per my request for my upcoming trip to Bolivia. That was nice. The pros: chips and salsa were tasty and he brought two salsas so my buddy and I didn't have to share. The beers were nicely priced for imported beers. The cons: I was pretty hungry, but only felt comfortable eating half my food. I have not eaten a lot of tortas, but with all due respect this was nothing more than slop. I hate to be so negative, but that's what I felt like I was eating and the reason I only ate half. The meat just seemed off. Our first time here and we are very impressed. We lived on the west coast for 4+ years and are always looking for BOMB street tacos not off a taco truck as well as great Margaritas! (house jumbo margarita is way better than the Viva Agave Margarita and is cheap for happy hour (4-7) $5.75 and super good!!!! Instantly fell in love with the House Made Salsa (soooooo good) and what made it better is they have a salsa bar! Diego (bartender) was on point even with how busy they were:) Thanks dude! Cuco's is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the city. Their food is consistently good and the prices are still reasonable even now. I typically order the same thing, whether I'm eating there or ordering delivery. Their chimichanga (chicken or steak) is phenomenal. The fajitas, with any protein, is equally as amazing. The meat is well cooked and seasoned perfectly. The rice and beans are good too, but the same as you would get at any other Mexican restaurant. Their drinks are a nice sized portion and contain a decent amount of alcohol. I tried their flan for the first time today and wasn't impressed. It tasted a bit burnt and didn't have that nice creamy consistency I expected. The inside of the restaurant is decorated like a traditional Mexican restaurant with bright mismatched colors. I do not know how these magicians can get the food out this fast, even during peak dinner times. Would you like a margarita? Cool, look at that car that just pulled into the parking lot and *poof* a pitcher of margaritas, some chips, and salsa appear the moment your attention wanders away for a split second. If you wanted to have a full sit down meal in under 15 minutes, it is entirely possible to do here. I tend to get the smothered burritos here, they're always great. That is not to say the other items on their menu aren't good, that is just what I tend to get. The service is top notch almost every time. I have seen a handful of servers who have been here at least 5-7 years. Every person I have brought here has been pleasantly surprised and love it as well. I picked this restaurant because it was highly rated as good food that is affordable. I went with a friend. The server was very attentive but the food was mediocre. I got the shrimp in spicy sauce with refried beans and spanish rice. That spicy sauce was NOTHING to tell anyone about, the spanish rice was not flavorful at all and I didn't eat refried beans (because I don't like them). Just because I didn't like what I ordered does not mean that I would not return and try something else. I saw several items go to other tables that I would like to try. Hands-down this is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Columbus and have we've been going since they opened. They do such great business, they expanded into the space next-door and added a patio. You can get everything from single tacos to fajitas to tradititonal soups. Never had a bad thing on the menu. They also have a ::free:: salsa and chips bar, that's all handmade and delicious. We moved here about a year ago and try a new quinine restaurant every week, but for Mexican we have decided that Cuco's Taqueria is the best. Not real fancy, just very comfortable and the food and the staff are definitely ahead of all the rest. We like to get the same waiters...Oscar or Rico, who are always friendly with a good sense of humor and always helpful. I wasn't sure what to expect as the reviews for this place vary greatly, but we loved it. Food was by far the best Mexican I have had in Columbus and prices were so reasonable for the amount of food. The margaritas were served in a small fish bowl, but I am not complaining. :) Our server was great. Very efficient and the food came out piping hot. I had the trio combo enchiladas and loved it. I did have to order beans, as the rice and beans do not come with it. It is in an odd little strip mall right next to a "local" watering hole that had some interesting patrons coming out. My friend and I came here for lunch and it was packed... but I can see why. The food is so comforting, flavorful and satisfying. There's a lunch time menu that has smaller portions and is less expensive, but whatever meal you choose it won't be too costly. I thoroughly enjoyed my Enchiladas Rancheras and my friend liked her Chimichangas, as well. My meal gave me left overs. And our dessert, Sopapilla, was utterly devine! Made a great decision in checking out Cuco's Taqueria for restaurant week last night. As a lover of all Mexican food I'm shocked I had never seen or heard of this place before. Their restaurant week menu looked promising so I decided to try them out. We were seated pretty quickly and the service was efficient. I ordered the pozole verde soup as my first course. It was so good! Honestly never had any soup like it before. Then for my entree I got the mole enchiladas. I love mole and these really hit the spot. Not only was the mole super flavorful but the chicken was as well. Last but definitely not least was the churro donut. Oh man. I'm not a huge sweets person but this was absolutely delicious. The churro was still warm and went so well with the cinnamon vanilla ice cream. I inhaled it. I 100% recommend this place if you're in the Henderson rd area. First time visiting Cuco's was a success. We were seated right away, and our waitress came to greet us immediately. I forget her name, but she was very friendly. I have been looking for Birria tacos ever since moving to Columbus, and I saw that Cuco's has Birria tacos. They have a combo where you get three Birria queso tacos, a cup of consommé, refried beans, and rice. That is what I ordered. The food was prepared promptly and it came out piping hot! My tacos were delicious! They were absolutely stuffed with goodies, and the consommé dipping broth was incredibly flavorful. I was very happy with the tacos. The manager is regularly rude to us as customers, they rarely check on the table. Except Memo, he still doesn't suck. Decided to try and branch out and try new taco places around town instead of just sticking to the usual spots. Wanted some decent tacos al pastor. Placed pickup order through DoorDash. Order came out right on time; I decided to add a margarita to go and they accomodated that easily as well. The tacos were delicious. The al pastor were very good but I have to admit that I felt like the barbacoa were the real standouts here. Tender and juicy with great flavor. The soft corn shells held up well and didn't tear apart like so many carryout tacos do. Queso dip was great. Salsa was just average. The only tiny issue: I added rice and beans side to two tacos. Since we had never been to Cuco's Taqueria and were in the mood for some Mexican food, I began looking around at area menus. Seeing that Cuco's was about a ten-minute drive from home, I decided to give it a try. The menu looked really good, and my wife and I each had a difficult time trying to figure out what wanted. In the end, I decided on a chimichanga, and she had enchiladas. We ordered a large side of chips and guacamole. I placed my order online and very quickly received a confirmation that my order would be ready within about 15 minutes -- this on a Friday evening at around 6:00! When I arrived to pick up my order, I have to say that I was somewhat surprised. You would never think that we were in the middle of a pandemic or something. There was a line of people waiting to get in, standing shoulder-to-shoulder, and I had to sort of push my way by them to get to the front counter to pick up my food. I could see into the restaurant and saw that it was packed. I know that people want to eat out now and that restaurants need business, but this place looked like a party from the pre-covid days. I was somewhat alarmed. When we got home with the food, we were surprised yet again -- the large order of chips was large enough for a party! If I had known how many chips I was getting, I would have ordered a small. So now we have chips for a few days. The guacamole was good, but it lacked the punch that I have come to expect from guac at a Mexican restaurant. In fact, or sort of tasted like they had squeezed it from a factory-packed tube and added some onions and tomato on top. If they make it in-house, they need to up the flavor profile a bit. The main dishes were quite good, though, and, again, quite large. In fact, neither of us could finish our meals, so we have leftovers again! Will I go back to Cuco's? I'm not sure. It's obviously a popular place for the neighborhood, and the food was good enough. But there are other Mexican places that I feel are a bit better. We tried this place after reading several positive recommendations in Reddit as to good Mexican restaurants in the Columbus area. This was a carryout order so I can't comment on ambiance, decor or wait service. The order was ready by the estimated time, and curbside service was provided. My husband got the pork tamales, which he simply raved about! They were homemade, large and stuffed with meat, the masa was tender and moist, and they were properly wrapped and steamed in corn husks. There weren't any extras in the filling like olives, raisins/currants or a lot of sauce, but still one of the best tamales you can get in Columbus, Ohio. I ordered the potato & poblano taco, the mushroom taco, and the chili relleno. While I appreciate that Cuco's offers vegetarian tacos on their menu, neither of these versions had much flavor. They were each folded in two fresh tasting corn tortillas, not just one each, as some so-called taquerias try to cheap out by using. The chili relleno had a proper egg batter and the chile was tender, but the cheese had somehow entirely escaped the chile, so there were two prongs to the relleno, one prong with the battered chile and the other prong with the battered cheese! It looked like a mess and was even messier to eat. I'm hoping this was just a one-off mishap as the potential was there for an above average item. The sides were mediocre. The rice was dry and tasteless, the refried beans so-so, the guacamole warm and a little runny, and the salsa utterly smooth and bland with no heat whatsoever. We'll definitely give Cuco's another try for an eat in experience at the very least. read more

I'm fussy about Mexican food. In the past 40 years, I have only been in three Mexican restaurants that merit five stars: Casa de Pico in San Diego California, Ophelia's Azteca north of Chicago, and now Cuco's. A major issue is whether the Mexican food is what I call "Gringo-cized". Any great restaurant has all the usual you expect: great food, friendly service, good ambience. To be a great Mexican restaurant it needs all that and food with the same taste, texture, and look that you would get south of the border. Cuco's qualifies. read more
