Super Yummy The most recommended dish is Pork Belly & popcorn chicken meal! By the way, you should add the braised egg as a side!

Stopped by Cup O' Joy after class and tried their Oolong Milk Tea--and I'm really glad I did! The tea had a smooth, roasted flavor that wasn't overly sweet, and the balance of the milk and oolong was spot on. The boba was soft and chewy, just the way I like it. The vibe inside was chill and welcoming, with plenty of space to sit and hang out or get some work done. It seems like a perfect little study break spot if you're around USC. Service was quick, and the staff was friendly. Definitely planning to come back and try more of their menu--probably the popcorn chicken next time.

This place had a pretty wide selection of crafted drinks including coffee and boba. But I have to be honest, I've been coming here for one thing and one thing only. The sea salt foam top coffee!!! It's is absolutely delicious. They also have finger food if you're in the go. Always great service and friendly staff.

A solid boba spot! It's hard to find decent boba in the area and this spot does it well! I've gone here multiple times and the tea here is solid. The drinks are around $5.50 for the regular size and toppings/size upgrades are an extra $.50. The mango green tea is a sweet and filling drink option that anyone will like. I adjusted the tea to 50% sweetness and it was perfect for my taste. I also tried the fresh lemon mint green tea and it's so refreshing. This drink was perfect for a hot summer day and it really hit the spot. There's a small parking lot where the shop is located that you can easily access. It can get a little full, however, because there are other establishments in the same vicinity. Nevertheless, there's still usually ample parking. Please check out this boba spot if you're in the area!

This place was not messing around when a name was chosen. So much joy coming out of this spot. The person at the register was just the sweetest and so helpful in helping me choose exactly the flavor I wanted! He took his time in making multiple custom recommendations. Ambiance - a little crowded but that means they're loved. Service - see above. The best! Boba - fresh boba balls and the rose/jasmine milk tea combo we came up with was exactly the right amount of flowery. And the lactáid will keep this girly bubbly gut free.

I got the popcorn chicken ( hot and medium). It was alright. My usual spot Pine and Crane has better popcorn chicken imo. Was looking at the reviews and expecting like "wow" reaction but not really. A lot chicken for a portion which is a good thing. I also got kiwi tea and taro milk. The kiwi tea is pretty good. Not too sweet. The taro milk is okay. The boba is the soft, not too chewy kind. Not the best boba place I've ever tried but it's not bad.

I got the brown sugar boba with almond milk. It was so good. I also got food: spring rolls, fried tofu, & fries. The food was alright. I would not come back for the food, but for the boba, heck yeah! I ate inside & it was okay. Clean. Staff was friendly.

Ordered a strawberry mint green tea. Nothing particularly stands out except that it was over $5.97 for this drink--no extra, not even boba. Strawberry syrup added to green tea. Not worth it. You have to compare it with the standards--cup of Cha in Monrovia or SunRight.

Heads up if you go here - the parking lot is small and Starbucks customers create a huge line in the parking lot. Other than that, Cup O' Joy is a great, casual boba spot that also has a decently sized menu of Taiwanese food. I tried the fresh milk with oolong, fresh orange green tea, and mushroom meat noodle. I appreciated that along with the milk teas made with creamers that they had tea options made with real milk and with real fruits. The orange green tea was definitely the standout of what I got. It was very citrusy and not too sweet. The noodles were a good sized portion and the marinated tea egg had lots of flavor. Service is very friendly as well.

Covid19 delivery review: I always have random cravings and today it was tea eggs. I couldn't find it anywhere else but this restaurant. So I got the sausage and popcorn chicken and I'm almost sure that the popcorn chicken would've tasted much better if I had it fresh but the delivery time made the food a bit cold already. This is out of the restaurants control but it was still good. Now the egg, it was rock hard and taste like it's been left out forever. I also ordered dumplings which was okay. Nothing special.

Delicious and convenient boba shop near USC. Prices are fair, drinks are great! Service is very efficient and friendly. Parking is easy in the daytime (private lot) but can get busy in the evening. Recommendations: Mango Almond smoothie was surprisingly delicious. Flavored milk teas have all been good so far. Chicken tenders here are way better than the average fast food chicken tender. Sometimes I'll crave a tea egg, and this place satisfies that craving. read more

First time in LA in over 10 years and the food really did not disappoint lol. Just wanted something to drink and snack on and this spot had everything we needed! The tapioca/boba was perfectly chewy and sweet (just enough not too much or too little). I had gotten the Jasmine Hazelnut Milk Tea omgggg i miss it already. The bf has since graduated from SC and we moved away from LA, but whenever I'm craving for popcorn chicken, it's always the one from Cup O Joy. This place has the best popcorn chicken!! Boba is good, and I think they're quite reasonably priced as well. Toppings are an additional $0.50 each. They have sooooo many different drinks to choose from, you'll be spoiled for choice! I always get their milk tea with grass jelly, reduced sugar. Loooove it! Tried their Oolong milk tea once, but I think I prefer the usual milk tea. Limited seats, limited parking in a not-so-nice looking strip mall, but I will go back again and again for the food and boba! Plus this place really has the vibe of a small Taiwanese cafe. read more

I like Cup O' Joy mostly because the service is always great. Every time the cashier, drink maker, or any other staff is friendly and willing to answer questions. Drinks are pretty standard. I can't say that they're amazing or terrible just because they taste like any other boba shop. I find that the food prices are reasonable compared to all other places around the USC area. For 6,7 dollars you get a decent size meal with choice of meat, rice, and sides like eggs and veggies. I got the snack combo today and was pleased to find so much food (tempura, popcorn chicken, egg rolls, fishballs). However, since everything was fried, it was pretty greasy. The popcorn chicken isn't one of my top choices either; it was extremely marinated in seasoning so very salty. I'll definitely come back if I want one of their lunch plates, but probably not for the snack options that don't come with rice. read more

This is probably the best place for boba it's cheap affordable and has a wide arrange of options. I came about three years ago and have tried mostly everything and would definitely recommend their Thai tea boba as well as there spicy mango slush and if you in the mood for chocolate a chocolate banana smoothie would suffice! The boba here is so soft and chewy!! With 25% sweetness, the tea is just right. It could honestly be about 50% sweetness at other stores but I was okay with it. The popcorn chicken honestly tops the boba. It's sooo good and seasoned really well. read more

What a gem! This little spot was perfect, it has all the teas/ milk tea boba and twists for Angelenos like the spicy mango smoothie. It has mangos& chili on top. I love their seasalt green tea, golden fish balls, wings and of course popcorn chicken. Everyone is always super friendly and polite, reminds me of Taiwan! Busy during lunch times, but its such a cute spot, to come eat/ hang/ study even they offer free wifi. Wish i was a student all over, this brings back such good memories. read more

I hate to admit that I come here, but when you are craving boba near USC, you are pretty limited on options. This place is not the cleanest and the drinks are very mediocre. The service is borderline rude here. Last time I came here for popcorn chicken, they did not even have sauce and pointed me in the direction of a sorry pile of condiments that were dirty. This place is a disgrace to boba places. read more

Decent popcorn chicken... I mean, it's fried chicken. It's pretty hard to mess that up. However, their almond milk tea was really weak in flavor. The tempura did not taste that good either. If you really need that tapioca experience near USC, I guess you can come here. Otherwise I'd just hold off and head to the San Gabriel Valley. read more

Location: Figueroa & 31st in same complex as Fat Burger Parking: Free parking in small private lot Free wifi: Yes, with few outlets available I come here mainly for milk tea & popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken is suuuuper greasy and not all of the chicken is pop-into-your-mouth size. Some pieces require multiple bites before finishing because they are quite large. The snack size is served in a paper bag and a small plastic bag. It makes me feel really sick after seeing ALL the grease seep through the bag but I still order it for some reason & end up throwing it out before it's finished. Therefore, I suggest sharing the grease bag with a friend. I've also had the fried tofu and it was a little bit too soft for being fried. If you've ever had Tapioca Express fried Tofu, I like that waaay better because of its consistency. Overall, I like to come here because I don't know where else to get popcorn chicken & boba on the way home from work. Notes: -Boba is an additional 50 cents -Credit cards are accepted but charged a fee if under $10 -I like the "Be a baller and give a dollar" tip jar because it's clever -There's a television to watch & magazines to flip through while you wait for your order -New summer hours are posted on the door read more

The staff is welcoming. The food is really tasty and delivered fast. The variety of tea is impressive. I also liked that they ask how sweet you'd like your drink (I prefer less sweet and they gave me "half" sweet which was about perfect for me). The only downside of this place is that the acoustics are not ideal. Once the blenders get going for making smoothies, it's nearly impossible to hear anything going on around you. Not ideal for studying or hanging out with friends. I'd definitely come back for a tea or their fried chicken though. They were giving out samples while I was there. It was moist and crispy. And the dipping sauce was creamy and spicy. Really nice. read more

This place is perfect for your late night boba cravings. The boba here's nice and soft! I've tried the regular milk tea and honeydew, and both are pretty good. The cool thing about Cup O' Joy is that they serve regular food too, not just drinks. The popcorn chicken is also pretty tasty. You can even choose 5 levels of spiciness. It's a little greasy and can leave you feeling a bit...ughhh...after eating it, but drink a little boba to soak it up and you're all good =] Also, they only accept cash, which is a little inconvenient, but not that big a deal... read more

Customer service is great, they always welcome you when you walk in and are very prompt. Drinks come out fast and are nice and refreshing and the food is always is fresh and hot. The takoyaki is the best I've had in the area and one of my go to items to get from here! The chicken strips are also really good, they come with a special house made sauce that you can't get anywhere else. One of the best places to go around USC for boba and especially popcorn chicken, and if you have a five star account with them or check out the instagram page you can get great offers as well! read more

Love this spot! However, they tried charging me extra for some spicy dressing that is only served with the chicken strips...makes no sense! I paid nearly $14 for my popcorn chicken and a large matcha sea salt with boba and you're not able to hand me 1 or 2 small cups of spicy dressing to go with my popcorn chicken? Like cmon now Ate the popcorn chicken dry and it wasn't even up to par. Never eating there, just getting my boba and leaving. read more

I've been here twice for milk tea & had a really great experience both times. I ordered the regular Thai tea with boba which was delicious & true as any boba Thai tea I've had. They have a great selection of flavors & add-ins. During my first visit, my drink lid broke in the middle of the store and spilled everywhere :( but the staff was so friendly & understanding and remade my drink. Boba is cooked well. It is nice and soft. The drink itself is pretty basic. Nothing extraordinary. The service was not the best. Probably just not a good time to come. I ordered 3 drinks and was charged for 4 even after I confirmed with the cashier that it was 3 and she confirmed. After receiving my receipt I asked about the extra add on for the 4th drink that came out of no where and she took it off. Don't know if she tried to rip me off for not noticing. read more

My son and daughter got the milk tea boba that I (of course) had my share of--nice soft boba--way softer than anywhere we can get in Boston, but the milk tea itself had a funny off flavor. In a strip mall--not the cutest place. But fine. read more

To be clear - Cup O Joy's popcorn chicken is a 5/5 stars. Drinks are a 2/5 stars. Giving a generous rating for the wonderful mems. This was my go to late night snack spot back in college and I recently visited after 2 years of college. Drinks are still trash. I don't know why I ordered a watermelon slush thinking it would taste like fresh watermelon. But alas no. They just use fresh syrup. Yup Cup O Joys redeeming factor has always been their popcorn chicken and I'm glad to say that it still hits the spot. read more

Went here late at night because they are always open late when you want some boba or food. They don't have anything in particiculer to die for, but they have a huge selection of food/drinks. Boba: Got the cherry blossom milk tea and a Thai tea slush. The cherry blossom milk tea was good but the Thai tea slush was lacking flavor. Food/Snacks: Takoyaki: good Popcorn chicken: could be better. The chicken didn't taste like good quality and they didn't have real sweet and sour sauce. I would come back to have some boba bc it's so close to my apartment near usc. Also, I would like to try their meals there. read more

Parking is a hassle, but it's been reconstructed which is dope. The place is very friendly, nice music inside, tasty drinks, yummy popcorn chicken, and chicken breasts! The only downside is drastically loud blenders. Especially when people start talking it becomes even louder, so grab a cup, get your snack drug and go enjoy. P.S: there are very nice versus tip battles, for instance "who tips better - gentlemen vs ladies" and it changes. read more

Only been here once but my experience with a couple of the employees was NOT PLEASANT. I presented the 10% off yelp check-in coupon a second after I gave them my credit card and ,with attitude, both employees told me they wouldn't accept the coupon because I had already paid....Now 99.9% of places would've simply accommodated my request but wow were they adamant about not accepting the coupon. I know it's just 10% but ya know, principles. I probably should've just asked for a refund. Whatevers...just won't go back. read more

It was so bad the oolong milk tea. I Ordered half sweet but it was still super sweet. I consulted the waitress before I ordered though. It seems the waitress doesn't give any useful suggestion. And it doesn't taste tea at all, just plain sugar water. I couldn't believe this is Taiwanese good! read more

I'm in my cream top era, so I decided to get their Trademark Cream Top Latte, which uses cold brew and house made cream with a hint of brown sugar. The drink was smooth and not too sweet and, all in all, extremely enjoyable. Next time, I might try the Salted Caramel Cream Top Latte. I was warned it was a bit sweeter, but I'd like to see for myself. Wi-Fi seems solid, and there are plenty of outlets (yay!), so this was a great work spot. I originally wanted to try the mango sticky rice flavored shaved ice because it looked really good in the photos, but unfortunately they didn't have it today. I'd come back to try their shaved ice when mango is in season again!

I feel so bad for this place whenever I see bad reviews. I've been going here pretty much at least 2-3 times a week since I started attending USC, so about three years, except for summers. I've eaten nearly everything on the food menu, but I'm not all that adventurous with drinks. Whenever I don't have food and it's not midnight yet, I come here. When I need a boba fix, I come here. When I'm bored and feel like eating my feelings, I come here. Even when I return back to Orange County, home to thousands of boba places and restaurants, I wish I was in LA so that I could come here. I usually get the meal combo #2, pork belly and Chinese sausage combination, with rice, cabbage, and a hard boiled egg. It satisfies every time. The popcorn chicken is better than most places I've been to, the takoyaki is really good, and the xiao long bao is pretty decent as well. I've never tried the curry before but it gets ordered often by other people when I'm here, so I would think it's good. As for drinks, I've only had mostly milk teas, jasmine green tea, and a couple fruity teas. The pudding here I like better than half&half's, although that's just preference. The boba has NEVER disappointed me. This is kind of a big deal for me since I've been disappointed by most boba places I've been to (Tastea, 7 leaves, tebo tebo, volcano, boba loca, the list goes on). But the boba here is always consistently a nice texture and hardness. The owner and most of the staff recognize me whenever I come in, and they're always pretty friendly. Most of them are bilingual too! I'm giving four stars because they run out of boba at around 1030 pm, even though they close at midnight. Also the bathroom is not that clean and the lock is a little ghetto. It depends on which cashier you get for how good your drink is, or how friendly your service is, and the customers that frequent here can be gross and not clean up their table after they're done trashing the place. And this place might not be as good as ozero or boba time, but for what it is, and its location, cup o joy deserves a good review. read more

I'm borderline obsessed with drinking boba and I put this place above most others when I have a choice. It's within walking distance to USC and conveniently on the way to the Row... two factors that definitely help their appeal. My favorite things here: boba (of course), jasmine green milk tea, egg pudding, popcorn chicken, and dumplings. I came here looking for good boba and found that plus amazing food, all for a lower price than any other places around the area. I'm gonna call that a WIN. read more

Came here during a weekend early morning and although there was planty of staff the line to take peoples orders was taking a long time as well as waiting to get your drink or food after you have paid. I was there 15 minutes and was still not getting my drink, many other people where waiting as well and finally after quite a while each of us started getting our drinks little by little. not sure what caused it but they might need to step up the process a bit. read more

This is still one of my favorite boba shops around town. The Taiwanese meals are my favorite with many options to choose for the average hungry boba lover. One of the must try drinks is the Thai Tea with Boba. This drink is one of the drinks you'll fall in love with after a cup. Very friendly staff. I Only got a large chai milk tea with soy milk and boba, but it was very good. I enjoyed it fire a while and hung around the place. The boba was an extremely chewy almost overcooked texture, which is to my liking. Highly recommend and definitely on my return list if I am in the area! read more

Put too many food in the small food container, that makes food get less dry, especially popcorn chicken. And paper box container is easily open, doesn't feel hygiene. Hope can improve food package design soon. Green tea is too sweet read more
