When putting in new drainage pipes at our home we hit the main water line to the house. It's a flexible polypropylene pipe. I called several plumbing companies and asked specifically if they were familiar with repairs to poly pipe. The person I talked to at Cupertino pluming said he would send out Bill who would be able to correctly fix my poly pipe. I had gone earlier in the day with a piece of the pipe to a recommended supply store and got the correct fitting for that pipe, but the gap was too big and it needed two of them. I told whoever I talked to at Cupertino plumbing what the supply store had told me and sold me so they would bring the right parts. On arrival the couplings Bill brought were too small. He took a piece of the poly pipe and left for the parts store. On returning he spent an hour trying to get the second set of parts to work, but each time we turned the water on they leaked. Finally he decided they were the wrong parts. I offered to go back the the place I got the first coupling, which was the correct part, and get another coupling but Bill wanted to go to his supplier. When he came back this time he did a "hose repair" inserting 2 barbed mail fittings into the pipe and using hose clamps to hold them on then ran copper pipe between them. This left me with a restriction in my pipe where the barbed inserts reduce the pipe dimension. I could tell I had reduced flow the minute I turned my outside faucet on. For this I got charged $600 ($592). Bill charged me for only 3.5 hours. I called Frank (the owner) and said that 1) this was not a correct poly fitting repair, 2) 3.5 hours seemed excessive for something that had he had the correct fitting would have take 30 - 60 minutes. His response (after talking to Bill) was that Bill had 5.5 hours into the job and that 3.5 was all I was charged for so I've already been compensated and that my flow isn't reduced that much and Bill has 30 years experience and knows what he's doing. Bottom line is he did not know how to correctly fix the poly pipe and did not make that repair correctly, he just "got our water back on" which he thought was most important. In actuality I could have made the repair the way he did it. I've fixed plenty of hoses. Everyone was courteous and friendly, but I didn't not get what I asked for or wanted. Overcharged and dissatisfied with the work. read more

Will not use them again for the following reasons - 1) Charge 3X for parts they use compared to price at HD or OSH which is ridiculous. I understand they need to charge more, but this is crazy. 2) Plumber "rounded up" to the next half hour even though he was very clearly done within the first hour (including travel time). They replaced my pipes. My first gripe was they didn't remove the old galvanized pipes but left them under the house. A minor thing, but I expected them to remove them. The next big problem was for the exterior faucets they had the pipes coming out of the sub-flooring vents rather than the existing holes for the existing faucets. I complained and had to argue with them quite a bit to get them to fix that. They did finally fix it ( took them about 2 hours, not the 2 days they claimed it would) but given they never explained that is what they would do, I feel like I shouldn't have had to go through that hassle. The vents were not put on properly, but after complaining, they did fix it. Also, their pipes had a leak after the work was done, although they fixed it. I feel cheated. This review is long overdue. Shortly after moving to our new home in Willow Glen last summer, we needed to do a repipe project. As this wonderful home has built in 1946 and still had galvanized plumbing. We did our due diligence and selected Cupertino Plumbing due to the years of experience, use of high quality plumbing products and the lifetime gaurantee they offer to futher stand behind the work they do. Additionally, Frank Cardia did a wonderful job meeting with us for the first time to discuss the process, what to expect, and answer any and all questions we had. I called to have a new sink, faucet, and disposal installed following a kitchen remodel and another having a kitchen for several weeks due to new countertop installation. Frank came and provided an estimate and got right to work and and even got the extra parts we need and didn't have. Great service. Today I was charged two hours (total $353.31) for Kitchen Drain Clog Removal. I think it was just about (maybe a little over) one hour work, but I had the impression that the person intentionally made it two hours. e.g. taking a long time to do the paperwork in his van ( more than 15 min), after it right past 1.5hrs, he came in to present me a bill to charge me two hours. OMG AVOID THIS BUSINESS! These people are the biggest RIP-OFFS!!! It took 2 of their plumbers 3 hours to take down my kitchen cabinet (they charge $114. per hour/per plumber) which means they charged $684 before they even got to the pipe!!!!!! The cabinet is 6ft x 4ft. They charge by-the-hour so guess what? Yeah, they go VERY SLOW. One of the plumbers did just about nothing in the 8 hours they were there except help take down the cabinet. Cupertino Plumbing did our repipe a few years ago and at the same time we put in a new water heater. Two weeks ago the pilot went out. Frank came out that day and put in a new thermocouple. The next day the pilot went out several times.Frank came out two more times without charging us. There really was no way he could have known that there were other problems. He mentioned a couple to us the first time but it didn't make sense to pay to get all sorts of things fixed until we knew what was wrong. The heater seems to be fixed and is running well. I had a bad water heater that leak water inside the tank. Water leak to the tray from the inside as well as leak though the top vent dripping down from the side. So this was not from the hot and cold water joints in the top connectors. This heater was only 3 years old. I contact the manufacturer and it was still under warranty. I find Cupertino Plumbing under the manufacture listed qualify installer. They sent a person stop by to verify it was indeed a heater failure. There was a lot of noise coming from the pipes in the house whenever the shower turned on and it eventually changed so that even running a sink would cause the loud humming noise. I had a flood in my basement - turned out the kitchen sink drain was leaking in the wall below the kitchen. Isaac did a great job of finding the leak, opening the wall, and repairing the problem. He was very careful to keep my place clean. His cuts into the wall were neat so the repair of the drywall will be easy (I decided to do this myself). Isaac didn't fool around, he just got to the job and started working. I like to watch what's going on and ask questions. Cupertino Plumbing did end-to-end copper re-piping of our 2 story 3 bath home. Dave and his fellow plumbers were always on time, courteous, respected our property and cleaned up end of every day they were in. Dave has amazing dexterity with soldering and not even a single leak was found when the house was turned around. There were significant amount of Sheetrock that had to be cut and it was kept to a minimum and their Sheetrock person who came to patch did a fantastic job with matching the texture of interior walls and in 2 spots of the outside stucco. Initially we had intended on installing mini shower bidet systems in toilets which at least 2 other local plumbers had agreed to do when they were bidding on the job. Frank is very familiar with building codes. That helped us in picking a bidet system that would pass any building inspection. In addition to re-piping, they installed 3 Sanicare hot-cold bidet systems in our toilets. Hot water connections had to be run new and Dave did a super neat job. These guys didn't bid the lowest for our job, neither did they have a high yelp rating when we checked. They had re-piped at least 2 other houses in our immediate neighborhood and those homeowners had nothing but good to say about the quality work they perform. That along with the lifetime warranty, 2: one rough, the other final, inspections by the city, detailed work order written out at the time of the bid made us decide to give the job to them and they delivered! read more

I just had Cupertino Plumbing re-pipe my new house with copper. I got 5 quotes and had spoken to 3 contractors before talking to Frank, the owner, about doing the job. I could tell that Frank was extremely knowledgable which made me feel confident about hiring Cupertino Plumbing for the job. Frank came to my home and explained everything to me. I not only decided to hire them based on having 50 years experience, but also because they were the only company that would put everything back together. Other contractors were going to tear up my sidewalk, driveway, and not replace drywall inside the house. Cupertino Plumbing was the only company that had a machine that wouldn't require my sidewalk and driveway to be torn up. Other companies not only would tear them up, but wouldn't put them back together. Robert and Eric did the copper re-piping and did a fantastic job. They were extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. Both have over 10 years experience in the industry and I felt confident that they knew what they were doing and would do a great job. They did not disappoint! They treated my home as if it were their own and always cleaned up afterwards. Again, they did such a fantastic job. The person that came to fix the exterior stucco and interior drywall was also very friendly and did a great job. He went out of his way to move a hose wheel from the front of the house to the side for me. When Eric was under the house, he noticed that my waste pipes had some leaks and the pipes were stressed. Frank arranged for Angel to come out and take a look the next day, Angel was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and showed me the condition of the pipes. The pipes were in very poor condition and I was happy that they were going to be replaced. Angel has over 10 years experience and I felt confident the job was going to be done right. Angel did not disappoint and did a fantastic job. In addition, Frank called me after all the work was done to make sure I was happy with the service. We were doing a big addition to the house, and realized that we had to change the sewer under the addition. This was a crazy problem of f not tearing down the house just built ! I looked around from trenchless solution and of the two three i called, Frank was knowledgeable . The price was in the middle. I selected them for the very clear communications, guarantee of work for lifetime, and simply the confidence that everything will be done with permits and he had understood all the specific details of that job site. Specific mention of the great service was that The line was replaced within 3 days, without a single hiccup. I called on recommendation of a friend as I had a fire under my sink. My friend said Cupertino Plumbing would be able to tell me if it was an electrical issue or plumbing issue. It started off poorly as I live in a gated condo complex. There is a big main entrance with a call box, the plumber calls my cell and says he doesn't know how to get in. I tell him to call me from the call box. He can't find it. I come downstairs with my 2 year old, find him (2 feet from the gate). He comes up, I explain what happened, he looks and says that the garbage disposal is leaking. He suggests getting a new one. I say okay and he goes to buy one. He doesn't ask me which one I want (I wanted a different model). He comes back and again I have to go down and get him. He installs it, it tells me I have a leak and another pipe, tightens it and charged me $530.. He says it is because I live in a condo complex and it took extra time for him to get in and out of the complex and that he had to go buy the garbage disposal. Several neighbors have replaced theirs. The garbage disposal is $168 and I could have had Amazon (more expensive than what plumbers and handymen charge) install for $180.. He couldn't tell me if my garbage disposal caught fire, didn't leave the box, receipt or instructions for the new one. I understand my cost may be a bit higher as he looked at it for two minutes, but this was astronomical. I feel he took advantage that I was a single woman. Unfortunately at the time I was so frustrated because of the fire and keeping my son out of the way, I didn't ask for anything. read more

Frank repiped my 4plex in 2004. I have had several leaks in the cooper pipes he replaced and call him for a quote to fix the problem. Cupertino plumbing re-piped my moms house about 7 or 8 years ago. The pipe have sprung leaks and flooded the basement several times in several different places. The quality of workmanship fails. The pipes were not properly prepared (removing burs that cause turbulence in the water flow slowly eating away the copper) before soldering the joints. The city inspector should not have signed off on the project, so the city did not protect my mom either. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER -- Highly not recommended. I am giving 1-start coz there is no other lowest level. I called this service to have plumbing need -- Faucet leaking in my bathroom. They scheduled me on Monday but here the pain starts. I called them on 10:30 that when plumbers are coming. I came across that i am talking to Call Center where i need to tell all the details again and they said that they will drop a message to Cupertino Plumbing. I received a call 10mins after that asking me what is plumber name that suppose to come my house. Then the guy that he is locating the service man. I wished I had looked here before I called these guys. I apologize in advance for the long story, but wanted to provide enough detail where readers could make up their own mind just in case I'm being completely hard-headed. Here is my story: My two-year old flushed an object down the toilet and the toilet became clogged. I seen these guys' ad in the paper and was lured in by a $25 off coupon. When I called, I asked what the plumber would do to fix the problem and how long it would take to fix the problem. He politely explained that it could vary depending on my circumstance, but the plumber would remove the toilet and see if the object was caught in the base of the toilet and could be freed by hand. If it couldn't, then they would have to snake the toilet and/or the drain. Based on this, I was looking at around an hours worth of work and figured to go ahead and have them take care of my problem. After less than 10 minutes into the job, the plumber told my wife we needed a new toilet. My wife called me and I asked her to put him on the phone so I could understand why we needed a new toilet (our home was built less than three years ago, so it was a relatively new toilet). He explained to me that he jammed his auger down the toilet and turned it as hard as he could, and that whatever was stuck in there was not coming out. I told him that when I called, the person explained that the plumber would first remove the toilet. He told me that he had 35 years of experience and that it would be a waste of his time and my money to do that. He suggested I go buy a new toilet and call them back to install, which he said should not take any more than an hour to do. I trusted his judgment and told him to pack up and leave and stop the clock. With the 15 minutes he had been there and the $25 coupon, I thought it would nearly be a wash. After his next statement, I realized my problems were beginning. He explained that they charge a minimum of one hour and bill for 30 minute increments thereafter. Furthermore, the clock apparently starts when they leave to drive to your location. I told him that this was not explained to me when I called, and he recommended I talk to the owner to dispute the bill. I figured I would call the owner and we could find a middle ground and settle the bill. At this point, I was disappointed about the billing misunderstanding and the fact that I still had a clogged toilet. However, this is not the reason I am writing this review. My wife called me later to tell me the plumber asked for a check and she paid him. The bigger problem, however, was that the toilet was cracked and was leaking water all over the floor. I told her to turn the water off and soak up the water but the damage was done. Not only did I have a clogged toilet, I had a cracked toilet and visible water damage in my bathroom. So I called the owner and left a message telling him I was canceling the check and we need to resolve this issue. He called me back the next morning to tell me that his company does not cause problems, they only provide solutions and demanded that he be paid for the "services" that were provided. I gave him the opportunity the make the situation right and provide a solution, and his response was that he would give me $40 off the install, but told me it would take two hours (he would not offer a fixed fee) and I would have to pay for the disposal of the old toilet and I would still owe him the $99 for the initial work. That's at least a total of $490 (after discounts) to fix a clogged toilet. Based on his response, I could see we were not going nowhere, so I told him that his offer was unacceptable, that I was worse off than when I started with their "solutions" and that I would need to look into my options. So I started looking and asking friends and found that it is not that difficult to replace a toilet. I went and bought a new toilet and removed the old toilet. When I removed the old toilet, I found the culprit of the clog and easily removed it from the toilet. Turns out the plumbers 35 years of experience was wrong and this whole situation could have been avoided. It took me, an accountant with zero plumbing experience, an hour and a half to remove the old toilet, replace and seal the new toilet and cleanup. I'm out the cost of the new toilet, a tube of caulking and the water damage caused by the plumber (which I have yet to take care of) and my time. And this morning I get a call from the owner threatening to put a lien on my property for the canceled check of $99. I have learned to do my due diligence before hiring any contractor no matter how small the job. And I realize $99 isn't that much money, but I refuse to pay based on principle (similar to the concept of refusing to negotiate with terrorists) and the fact that they caused more damage than good. I hope this review saves at least one person from the experience that I have gone through. read more

if i could give this place zero stars i would. do not go here, i repeat, do not go here!! we had cupertino plumbing come out a few years ago to redo the showers in both bathrooms as well as redo the plumbing under the sink in our kitchen. they took over six months to complete these tasks and only wrapped it up after being threatened to sue. here we are a few years later gradually redoing all of the "work" they did. the floor of one of the bathrooms was not finished properly, meaning with wood leading to water damage. most recently, we had to redo the plumbing under the sink. when our new dependable, professional plumber came in to do the work, he thought the job prior had been done by a want-to-be-handyman/house owner. the pipe was not to code thus causing the problems of a leaky sink.... and of course the floor damage caused by the leak. after 1.5 hours we were back in business for less money and a "to code" pipe. i give shoutouts when deserved, but to save you, who is currently reading this, save your time, save your money, save your frustrations down the road, and save your sanity.... Our extensive copper re-piping was expensive, but I went with the best "reviewed" company I could find. I am somewhat satisfied with the installation, except for the hot water recirculation system. With it on about 18 hours a day, I realized with the system off that I get no hot water at all. This seems odd to me, but also what happens if the pump goes out or I have no power? The owner of the company as you may guess, says I should turn the system on 24 hours a day. I'm hoping for the best. read more

I am so disappointed on the service provided by Cupertino Plumbing. The job was to in replace sinks in all the bathrooms. We provided the sinks and faucets and so it was only lar. We have 3.5 bathrooms and after 2 weeks we still do not have one fully functional bathroom. The tech is supposed to have 20 years experience. But am very diappointed. Needed our Toto toilet fixed and they came out and charged us $175 and said it would take 3 weeks to get the parts and would be another $200. Called someone who knew what that they were doing and they came out out and fixed the toilet today with parts that are available all over San Jose same day.
