Well I did thoroughly enjoy this place. Ownership changed hands in 2021 and according to everyone who WAS working there, it was not a pleasant transition or working environment as they all had to apply for their own jobs. Weirdly, the owner tried to make a social media post about how all her kids are happily employed there. Asking what happened to the previous staff must have ruffled feathers since she decided to try to delete the comment and block me (as if I couldn't just log in under a different account, duh), but here we are on Yelp forever. Amazing! We visited on a whim after eating lunch nearby. When we walked in we didn't know what to expect but the 2 people working were super friendly. My husband chose the red velvet which he said was great but we both agreed the chocolate raspberry was the best. It has a delicious raspberry filling which balances with the chocolate really well. The heath bliss was super tasty too. The prices are fair for the size of the cupcakes and it's a very inviting atmosphere. Cupcakes are reasonably priced and are made fresh daily (amazing!). All flavors should be available by ~9:30am. They even offer mini cupcakes. Too cute! The staff is incredibly friendly and passionate about making delicious treats. They also offer coffee and drinks, however, I did not try on this visit. She had also had cupcakes from Cupprimo and thought they were the best cupcakes she had ever had. On the most recent visit, the shop only had one vegan cupcake left, but that happens. She purchased the one vegan for me and four additional cupcakes for her family. We were all--five of us--disappointed. I've been coming here a long time because I love their mini cupcakes!! They're the perfect 2-3 bites instead of the overwhelming sugar rush of full-size cupcakes lol. I'm posting a review because I went in the other day to get cupcakes for my coworker's office birthday celebration the following day. The *one* request she had was "something lemon-y" and the *one* day I go in, they don't have anything citrus on the rotation. As I thought about what to do, the folks behind the counter told me, "Hey can you come back in a few hours, if so we'll make what she wants!" And they did! They made lemon and lime minis just for me! I love Cupprimo for two things: the flavor of their cupcakes is simply the best. Lots of places make beautiful cupcakes but Cupprimo delivers on the flavor too. So many of their flavors are good but my favorites are the blue velvet (almond flavored) and chocolate peanut butter. Secondly, Cupprimo offers mini cupcakes. Wouldn't you rather try three delicious flavors in mini than one regular sized cupcake? My wife and I have often brought a dozen mini cupcakes to parties and it's always a hit. While I really want to give a better rating than 2 stars, I simply can't based off my recent experiences at Cupprimo. The homey and very 'utilitarian' feel of the shop itself is probably my favorite style, it gives off a non-corporate-corruption vibe that I appreciate. The coffee isn't bad to say, it's just not unique in anyway... The cupcakes though, which are of course the main focus of the store, have no equal in Northwest Austin. The only complaint I have, and it IS an important one, is the service. The past few times I've gone I've been looked at with caution, I honestly don't know what makes me look 'suspicious'. (Maybe my slightly scruffy beard...?) Maybe in the past I could've been simply assuming, but today changed that for me. I came by and sat down outside, and l took out a cigarette. I was stopped and told not to smoke by the store. Now legally speaking the employee (by my understanding a manager) in question had no way to stop me directly from continuing, as I made sure there was no one else nearby and I was 15+ feet away from the store's entrance, the employee that requested I not smoke was polite, so I obliged. Unfortunately when I entered later to buy a coffee the cashier was slightly rude in tone and was constantly glancing away to look at the manager and then his phone. It was as I was leaving did I overhear the words, "...we serve homeless people?" Even IF I WERE homeless, (which I am not) I had paid for a product, and I did not disturb the store personnel nor other customers. And to boot, the caramel-Frappuccino-style coffee I was given was, bluntly put, horrible. There were flakes of uncrushed coffee beans on sides, one line of caramel sauce, and intact ice cubes in it... I really prefer local businesses over the corporate franchise's that seem to be taking over the shopping landscape, but Cupprimo is certainly not the Cupprimo I remember going to almost everyday after school let out. read more

We just visited the Wm. Cannon store and I'm sorry to say it was a huge disappointment. We bought 1 standard chocolate cup cake and a tiny lemon and lime. The beautiful chocolate cupcake was so lacking in flavor, the lemon smelled like extract and the lime one was meh. It makes me so sad to write this review. We've had cupcakes from here several times and we have never been disappointed. Our most recent experience was horrible however. We planned to have cupcakes and a cake for my daughter's first birthday. I discussed the plan and expectations for it all weeks in advance. That being said, day of they forgot, plain and simple. Their excuse was they had the pickup time wrong, they had noon instead of 10. They tried to get us to take a different cake which we passed on since we wanted a pink cake and they said they could deliver it by 12. So I just moved to Austin from Chicago. Chicago bakeries are a dream and in abundance. I was looking for cupcakes to snack on on my days off and found Cupprimo by my job. First off, I got a variety and prices were soooo worth it. I got 3 regular sized cupcakes and 3 minis. I LOVED that they have all the big flavors in Minis so at least you dont have to spend all that money and eat huge cupcakes. For the Minis I got Red Velvet, Carrot Cake, and Reeses Peanut Butter Cup. For the big ones I got Lemon, Strawberry, and Blue Velvet (My FAVORITE Color)!! The Minis were a perfect one bite. They definitely were delicious and had a lot of flavor. Though they were a little dry but that's expected when you get Minis. Every single cupcake wasn't sweet..which was amazing. For the big cupcakes I really loved the Lemon. The Strawberry was a little underwhelming. It tasted very artificial. The Blue Velvet was my favorite HANDS DOWN. The big cupcakes were deliciously moist but the Blue Velvet tasted like Heaven. I cant really put my hands on what it tasted like. Maybe a mix between Berry, Blue Raspberry, and a little Fruit Loop tasting. Not overly sweet at all. The only downfall was the buttercreams were a little stiff and dry but big props for not being an overly sugar mess. All in all, I have tried probably eight bakeries so far. I'm out of the loop on the whole "cupcakes are upscale & trendy" thing that's been happening lately (I'm more of a salty/fried snacker than a sweet tooth), and I don't make it downtown very often these days, so I've missed the trailer place and that other one. However, I was in the Cupprimo area on the northside this morning and wanted a place where I could have a quiet cup of coffee while accessing some free wi-fi. Score! I had the place mostly to myself between 9:30 and noon on a Wednesday morning, perfect for getting some work done. Don't hate me, but I don't. Really. Like. Frosting. At Cupprimo, that's no problem, as they offer a whole assortment of "naked" cupcakes for those who don't wanna blow their calorie counts for the day. I tried the Strawberry, a bright pink, fluffy, moist cake with little berry treasures hidden throughout - delish! I think if I'm in the mood for a more decadent nosh next time, I'll try the Black Forest, which has a moderate amount of two kinds of frosting with cherry pie filling on top and in the center. My regular, drip coffee (with free refills) plus cupcake set me back $3.68, not too outrageous for a non-fastfood breakfast in an independent, local biz. From the menu, it looks like most of the single lattes & cappuccinos are under 3 bucks, with no beverages (including doubles/triples and smoothies) over $4.25. Both owners (two entrepreneurial moms, one of whom who ran her own cupcake catering biz before this, the other of whom who ran her own coffee shop in the Midwest) were behind the bar this morning. Apparently, Cupprimo does a brisk pastry catering business, and I saw/heard several orders come in while I lurked over my laptop in the corner. They offer 4 flavors every day, with a rotating menu for the rest of the 18 flavors. You can get full-sized cupcakes, as well as tiny ones. In the fall, they are also launching a line of Texas Longhorn-themed cupcakes with colors & flavors to compliment gameday festivities. I think I've found my new office-away-from-home for weekday mornings. It's local, it's on my side of town (aka Chain/Franchise Purgatory), and it's woman-owned & operated. Cool! read more
