Saturday, August 30, I had taken my elderly mother to return an A/C unit that had been leaking water and blowing heat instead of cold air. After waiting for some time, the manager in charge Maria Hernandez had explained that we could not return any A/C units, which my mother and I figured okay but we cannot keep a merchandise that does not function. There were no other similar ones on the floor and my mother was not looking for a small unit due to the home layout we have at home. Maria had told us they didn't have anything else and told my mother that if she just didn't want to spend money and be more "economical" then she could've just told her that from the beginning. She offended my mother and she offended me. Assuming that we were looking for cheaper things because we "couldn't afford them", when all we wanted was to look for a solution. My mother was NEVER asking for money in return. My mother has never, ever returned or asked for a refund in over the ten years she has been with Curacao. Maria kept going on about how we probably did not assemble the unit correctly. She kept assuming that we did not know how to work an A/C system properly. Until her and another employees finally plugged in the unit to test it, and guess what happened? The merchandise did in fact NOT work. All the insults and time wasted just for her to finally realize that it did not work. In the end, my mother and I just wanted to leave, but we didn't want to go home with a broken item, so we ended up purchasing the small A/C unit. Maria then had the audacity to tell us that whatever happens with the unit is on us and not on them. No apology from her whatsoever. Overall, it was a terrible experience. As a Latina customer, I always try to support Hispanic-owned businesses when making purchases. Recently, I needed office furniture for my workplace, so my first choice was Curacao. I went straight to their website and searched for "furniture," but unfortunately, the experience was frustrating. The website is just terrible. Without using any filters (which were not very user-friendly), I only saw three pages of furniture listings, and the options were extremely limited. Still wanting to support a Hispanic store, I decided to visit the Fountain Valley location in person. As soon as I entered, I received very helpful assistance and was able to find exactly what I needed. While I'm grateful for the great in store service, I strongly recommend that Curacao improve its website and make it more accessible and user friendly for all customers. read more

What was very disappointing was the rep that final came over tried to gauge me by telling me an iPad I was interested is no available and out of stock (without checking stock in the computer too) only to also tell me another more expensive is available but only sold in a bundle with items I don't need. We bought a tv from here and it messed up days before the warranty expired. The technician they sent let us know it's a panel and if the fix it it more expensive to do so than replace it. We had to call the number they provided for the warranty again and the lady who is very hard to understand keeps giving us the run around that they told her it's fixable. After more than 30 minutes on the phone she was no help so we called the technician who told us they were told by Curacao to fix the TV panel. The part o Lu has a 6 month warranty, so Curacao is forcing us to buy another warranty to protect the tv that we overpaid for with their interest and shady charges. This is the most unhelpful place ever with no actual customer care, you would think you would actually want to help your customers so they continue to come back to you. I wanted to like this place, **** was nice until he spoke to someone who I'm 99% sure wanted to rip us off. So here's what happened...my mom and I found a TV stand we really liked, however they ran out and only the display was available. Display? No problem! **** was very nice and friendly helping us find different TV stands, but we just really liked the one that was out of stock. We told him we would be okay with buying the display, like I said we really liked it! Anyways, he talks to some other gentlemen and comes back and says okay, you can have it for a discounted price of $299 instead of original price at $399! Ummm what? It's advertised at $199. We argued and said nope we looked at the stand earlier and it said $199, he argues back and says no it's wrong, the ticket was for "another TV stand I showed you earlier." I said oh yeah, here's a picture with the price tag (took a pic to show my sister). He was hesitant and again said, "oh that is the price tag for the other stands." Not sure what happened, but you lost a customer for being shady. See the picture I posted, if it's actually $399, say that then! Don't lie and say it was for "the other stands" you showed us. Curacao customer services really sucks! What I experienced at the Anaheim and Fountain Valley stores. I was already hesitant of being a customer since Curaçao already had negative press of allegations that the chain deceived and unlawfully profited from its largely Latino customers base. What happened to me they send me pre-approved credit card with $50.00 off my first purchase. I went to Anaheim they gave me the run around. So I called there customer service and they gave me my code number for my 50.00 dollars off. So next day I went to the Fountain Valley store. A lovely lady help me and told me that that my total purchase needed to be 250.00 to get the 50.00 dollars off. That was fine but she was having problems inputting my code for the 50.00 off. So she called her manager so he at the register trying to give me the 50.00 dollars off. But he was taking forever then he asking different questions how I got the credit card, after all the waiting around he just tells me he having problems but to give me the 50.00 off my total purchase needs to be $500.00. When I was just told earlier it needed to be 250.00! He just trying to profit and get me in debt! That when I got really upset this was a waste of my time and I walked out! If this is the only place you can get credit buy the cheapest thing possible. Pay it off as soon as possible, they'll add charges such as a credit shield which you don't need if you make your payments on time. The only reason I went to the Curacao was because I was purchasing a dryer for my parents. They already knew what dryer they wanted. They also decided to purchase the 3-year warranty. All we needed was someone to ring it up. After waiting over 40 mins, I decided to go to the cashier. I thought she would ring it up, but she decided to go with us to the appliances section. I used to be a front-end supervisor at a retail store and, right away, noticed she had left her light on and reminded her to turn it off so no one would walk up to an empty register. She was speed-walking ahead of us. I was with my mom behind her. My dad called my mom to let her know someone was finally helping him. I tried to let her know, but she kept on walking. I expressed to the appliance salesperson how long we were waiting. Instead of being apologetic, his response was "I have a lot of people to help(there was noone else waiting), if you don't want me to help you, you can go somewhere else" in a condescending voice. I told him not to speak to me that way. The cashier decided to jump in and say "His busy, his the only salesperson here, I can refuse service to anyone (while rolling her eyes), do you want me to refuse service to you? Because I can" in a rude tone of voice. I told her he doesn't have to talk to me that way or her. Her response was, "I'm talking to you way the same way you're talking to me." Which is not true. Their tone of voice was completely unacceptable for being at work.Like if they were the ones waiting for over 40 minutes for a 600+ purchase. I was the bigger person in the situation and told her I was done speaking to her. She decided to stay for the whole transaction instead of returning to her register. Why wasn't she back at the register? She was the only register open. How are customers supposed to check out when the only cashier is standing by watching the appliances sale person ring out my purchase. What was the purpose of her standing there? After my transaction was done, she stayed with the appliances sales person instead of returning to her register. Overall, my experience here was horrible. Let me tell you something, last year they had plants on sale like this year, I went early and actually got them however, as soon as some were already taken, the workers rushed to get them all on a pallet and put them in the back so no one gets them anymore. How can these people live with themselves, lying to their costumers and making them believe that they already sold out when they just put out a couple of the product and them rush to buy them back into the back of the store so when the deals are over, they can put them back out in regular price. Came in on Monday and bought adjustable bed frame for $1,050. Was charged delivery and assembly to my home and they got there and never assembled it for some reason. I then called customer service and they transfer me to the delivery service department and some lady answered was very rude and annoyed of questions I was asking her gave me attitude and was over hearing her voice and her talking to me like I was stupid so told her to transfer me to someone else and declined to do so then I asked to speak to her manager or supervisor and instead hung up on me.
