Alma, our server, greeted us and immediately asked us what we would like for drinks: a Diet Coke for me and a Michelada for my hubby. We ordered an appetizer of guacamole and salsa at $11.90 after overlooking their extensive menu. I settled on the Hacienda burger with onion rings at $15.95; my hubby ordered a Pastrami Swiss roll at $19.90. The Michelada was $15.50, and the Diet Coke was $3.95. Once our meal arrived, we dived in, not really saying much, just enjoying each bite we took. My burger had flavor, and so did the Pastrami. The ambiance had a great vibe, with many folks at the bar enjoying their drinks. The booths and tables were busy, everyone chatting away, waiting until their meal arrived. 2nd time in my life that I have been here (1st time like 9-10 yrs ago). Blue collar hole in the wall bar/restaurant with diner food. Was actually going to take advantage of my free birthday breakfast across the street at Black Bear Diner; however, parking lot was packed with no parking in sight so we trekked over to Curley's before we got hangry! Place wasn't busy and we got seated immediately. Our server was very kind and attentive. I ordered the breakfast burrito which came with ham, bacon, and sausage; however, since I am not fond of pork meat I just stuck to good ol' bacon! Burrito came wet and was a good size. As far as flavor wise, it was ok, nothing to write home about. My friend ordered the corned beef hash and eggs and said it was alright. Overall, food was not bad - just your usual diner fare. Parking is plentiful, prices are not bad. We dined around 11am and I am not one to go out to eat for breakfast as I'd rather pay for lunch or dinner (they were serving lunch by that time but felt like eating a breakfast burrito). Im struggling with this review. I have to hand it to this place, they have a lot of grit and survived a lot of things throughout the years. They remain a small, family owned business. The restaurant is on the corner and, even with an oil rig in the parking lot, there was ample parking for a Friday night crowd. We walked into the bar/restaurant and could immediately smell gas or some petroleum from the oil rig outside. It was fine during our meal. We made our way to a table as it was open seating. The game was on and there were several TVs to watch. It took awhile but we were approached by the bartender for our drink orders... remember, this was a Friday night and a World Series Dodger game was on TV. The place was pretty busy. We ordered some cocktails as we reviewed the menu. It was pretty standard bar food. Our drinks came and we were able to order appetizers. The drinks were average size and acceptable in taste. My usual Old Fashion with Bulleit was okay. We got to order our dinner shortly afterwards. It took awhile before our first appetizer came out. We were pretty hungry and gobbled it up! After a bit more time, the second appetizer (we ordered the same thing in 2 servings) came out. This was almost immediately followed by the meals. We watched the game, ordered another drink and ate dinner. As I stated earlier, it was typical bar fare. You have to frame it that way when you walk in. This isn't an upscale LA restaurant, it is a bar! After the meal we did have to wait a bit until we got our check and paid. Be mindful, there is a stand on your table where it discusses a service charge that is added to the check. It explains how this is added to keep a fair, liveable wage for staff while keeping food prices reasonable. For our group of 5 people, it was only $1+ per person. Not an unreasonable fee. We still added a 20% tip to the check. I know the staff was struggling that night. With people leaving the service industry, you have to tip. On our walk out, we discussed this place as a group. We all agreed it met our needs and it was fine. If you are trying to impress a first date, this isn't the place. Date them for a year and this place will come up as part of your night out. read more

We ate here this past Friday. The waitress was amazing. We ordered clam chowder soup and it was sort of runny. We also ordered a salad which was huge, but the salad was all brown and rotten and gummy with croutons that were burnt cut up bread, so stiff you couldn't chew them. We sent that back. We then ordered fish and chips and the batter was not right, when I bit into the fish, it was raw so I sent that back then she offered me a burger so I got a mushroom burger. It was good but at that point, I really didn't want to eat here anymore. We understand things happen at restaurants, but the chef did come out and apologize, but the meal was altogether bad. Been going to Curley's off and on for many years. I love supporting a local joint so we have been going more often lately for breakfast. They have great variety and I've never had a bad meal. I usually just get the bacon and eggs. Have had corned beef hash, pancakes, french toast, burgers,and chili too. Food is really consistent and tasty. I came to this establishment after church on Sunday for some early evening rations. I had a cheeseburger and fries. Cheeseburger was good and I liked it that there was provolone cheese available which I chose. I had blue cheese dressing for dip for the fries. I had "wooder" to drink. I noticed that there were some flies buzzing around in this establishment. Not overwhelming but enough to be somewhat noticeable and a minor nuisance. Got this I am deducting one point. Men's washroom was satisfactory and had paper towels available... good. I do have a bone to pick about the personal appearance of the server and order taker named Brandon. I noticed that Brandon wore his shirt untucked. I consider that to be very unprofessional. For allowing employees to wear their shirts untucked I am dinging this establishment one point. If I was to assign a letter grade like is done in school this establishment would be in there solid with a C. read more

For our Moms birthday, she wanted to go here. A favorite spot for her and our Dad when he was alive. She was happy to see a server that always helped them still there. I never crave a burger but was this day and ordered the western with sweet potato fries. It was delish! My Mom got the pastrami and loved it but she asked for jalapeños for some spice and lemme tell you that have spicy ones! Another thing I loved was their ranch was not watered down like most places. First time here on the patio with our dogs. Food was excellent and really large portions. I had the bacon cheeseburger which was fresh, tasty and huge. Fried onion rings to die for. My wife had an Ahi bowl which she said was the best she has ever had. No excuse to finish still hungry. Our waitress, Amanda was uner friendly to our dogs and was very attentive to our needs. I'd heard stories -- mostly from my buddy who used to work in the oil fields nearby -- so I figured it was time to check it out for myself. We walked in and were greeted quickly. The place had that comfortable, lived-in feel that only a long-standing local joint can pull off. We were seated right away, handed menus, and asked if we'd like some coffee -- which, of course, we did. The server returned promptly with our cups and gave us a few minutes before coming back to take our order. I went for a classic breakfast lineup: French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns. Honestly? It hit the spot. Everything was cooked well and tasted great -- especially the French toast, which was just the right kind of soft and crispy. The only downside? Service after the food came out was a little... distant. We weren't checked on much, and refills on coffee were nonexistent. Not the end of the world (thankfully I had a couple of cups at home before we left), but still worth mentioning. The place wasn't busy -- just us and a few groups who came and went during our time there. Despite that, we felt a bit forgotten once the food was served. What really made the visit memorable, though, was the nostalgia factor for my friend. Being back near Signal Oil Hill stirred up a lot of memories for him -- and for me, it was eye-opening to visit a part of town I'd never been to. He says the area has changed a lot over the years. I believe him. Would I go back? Yeah, I would. Even though the service kind of sucked, the food more than made up for it. Just moved to Signal Hill, Curley's is a 7 min walk. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere & menu. I ordered the onion rings and the were the best onion rings I'd had in a long time. Having worked in the oil patch for a number of years, Curley's was a regular stop. With the passage of time and changes in jobs, Curley's was not as convenient to visit. Today, after a 36-year hiatus, my wife and I stopped in for the coldest beer in any city. We found the exterior of the restaurant very familiar. The interior was much, as I recall from many decades ago. The color of the material covering the booths is now a clean, bold green as opposed to the dark red of a more dated time. The atmosphere was like walking back to my last previous visit in 1987. Cassandra, our server, was prompt in seating us and advising us of the daily special. She took our beverage orders, leaving us to peruse an extensive menu. My wife and I both ordered the Pastrami sandwich with onion rings. The sandwiches were very tasty. They were not massive akin to one you may find at Katella Deli. But they were very tasty and more than sufficient. The only real change I found was charge of $1.88 for labor. Being anal, I really wanted to ask if that charge took the place of the gratuity. My wife gave me 'the look', which means don't do that! All in all, it was a fun time. Unfortunately it just wasn't great for me but the truth is my wife like it so maybe you should try this place for yourself. I try not to give bad reviews to restaurants because I understand that cooks, waitresses and other can have bad days and maybe someone was a little off today and that's why I didn't like my food. by the way, my burger was rare when i ordered it medium. My onion rings were not well done like I ordered and the service was just not good. There was one waitress working the entire restaurant and the patio. Went here for the Bloody Mary's on Memorial Day. Not as good as previous visits, I tell people they are the best. Very slow service. The hash & eggs were cold. The patty melt was too rare inside. The Grilled cheese with bacon and Avacado was not very good. I will say that the Onion Rings were tasty. I'm thinking the normal cook and wait staff were out of town, so I'll give it one more chance. read more

We started coming here just as the lock down began to lift. Outside seating is the only place we've sat so I couldn't tell you much about the inside- never even went to the restroom here! lol. My fav it they have a FULL BAR drink during breakfast hours! We go with our neighbors and their little chihuahua, Tubby. The food is great only issue is they sometime run out of things- in chalk this up to Covid uncertainty for restaurants and now supply chain issues. The drinks are on point, the breakfasts Amazing, and the lunch is good too! Fried pickles, ok but I prefer small slices vs whole spears for my fried pickles.
