Cheeseburger, fries, blue cheese dressing for dip for the fries, wooder.
    Dale P.

I came to this establishment after church on Sunday for some early evening rations. I had a cheeseburger and fries. Cheeseburger was good and I liked it that there was provolone cheese available which I chose. I had blue cheese dressing for dip for the fries. I had "wooder" to drink. I noticed that there were some flies buzzing around in this establishment. Not overwhelming but enough to be somewhat noticeable and a minor nuisance. Got this I am deducting one point. Men's washroom was satisfactory and had paper towels available... good. I do have a bone to pick about the personal appearance of the server and order taker named Brandon. I noticed that Brandon wore his shirt untucked. I consider that to be very unprofessional. For allowing employees to wear their shirts untucked I am dinging this establishment one point. If I was to assign a letter grade like is done in school this establishment would be in there solid with a C.

I am a sucker for and historic bar. Curley's didn't disappoint. Very welcoming and the food was great. Homemade tortilla chips were a treat. Highly recommend the chili.

Latest review, 2nd visit. Again, this place is a hidden gem. Not to many people know about this establishment. Ordered breakfast and a bottle of Mimosa! Did not dissapoint! All was positive. Food was delicous and our waitress was awesome. She was cool. Plenty of parking!! Cool place all around. Good vibe

For our Moms birthday, she wanted to go here. A favorite spot for her and our Dad when he was alive. She was happy to see a server that always helped them still there. I never crave a burger but was this day and ordered the western with sweet potato fries. It was delish! My Mom got the pastrami and loved it but she asked for jalapeños for some spice and lemme tell you that have spicy ones! Another thing I loved was their ranch was not watered down like most places. Mmm The atmosphere is very local hangout. Chill vibe. Check it out.

Service is great, but the food is what ever; especially for the price. I got a wedge salad, well not so much the wedge I'm used to. $15 for a plate of everything but the wedge Also blue cheese crumble and ranch dressing was a little odd for me.

Came here for lunch with a friend. Server was quick to get our order. She was friendly. The restaurant/bar is small. Average noise. Clean. We ordered the spicy chicken sandwich & the turkey sandwich. Both were delicious. The turkey was fresh.

Visiting Long Beach and dropped in at Curley's Cafe. Ordered a crispy chicken sandwich, which I have to say was the best chicken sandwich ever! The double chicken patty's were thinly battered and tender juicy, and the round bun was buttery with a good crunch! The sandwich was filled with nice strips of crunchy bacon, fresh guacamole, tomatoes, and lettuce that was a compliment with the great tasting sauce! The onion rings and French fries our a treat also! Culey's treat their customers well, and it shows with their friendly service and make your eatting experience a very good one!

    Happy hour

We stopped by late Saturday night and were able to snag an immediate walk-in at the bar at Hao Peng You, which is the intimate speakeasy portion of Midnight Oil. The decor definitely reminded me of my grandparents' house in Taiwan, with vintage, ornate wooden chairs, dragon/lion statue carvings, and even a historic century old marital bed that had been repurposed into a booth. The drinks were also VERY unique, with my favorite being Hua sheng (literally meaning peanut), which was crafted from a nostalgic childhood peanut milk drink. All our cocktails were crafted very well, to the point where I thought they were a bit on the lighter side since I couldn't really taste the alcohol. This section does get really busy though and only had one bartender who is making/serving drinks and taking orders, so do expect a bit of a wait. Overall, highly recommend checking out this vibey vintage Taiwanese-inspired speakeasy (that my inner history nerd was so excited about), and I'll definitely be back to try their food items as well as their two other bar/restaurant concepts!

Honestly thought it was the bar that we came inside. First impression, why did we need reservations.... Since we didn't know the hidden entrance. Well, it's a cool concept once we entered. There's a dress code so be advised. What I found out was the entrance of the speakeasy was through a phone booth that next to the pool table of Roxanne's bar. Once reservations is made, you'll received an email with a password to enter. Enter phone booth and to connect to the inside and they'll open the door for you. We had the first reservations I believe they opened at 7pm. We were the first group to arrive. As it was my first time, we had ordered bar food and were waiting for it inside the main bar. So half an hour was used from our time limit. The speakeasy, dark and moody but perfect for the place. Special crafted cocktails by the bartenders which were great. They also have food as well, found out later. We did try the meat pie, which it was just ok. Basically an empanadas, the pickle veggies accompanied it was my favorite. It was good but nothing major to rave about. The drinks were quite nice and tasty. What they offered on the menu did have a load of good choices. Tables scattered throughout as well as bar seating. There's a piano which maybe used for live music. Overall, the moody speakeasy vibe was great. Friendly staff and bartender made some great drinks. What we had to snack on, the meat pie was just ok. They're very strict with the time limits. Once it's reached they'll let you know.

It's clear the owners put a lot of thought and creativity into making their cocktails the centerpiece of the experience. That said, the execution didn't live up to the concept. The menu appears to rotate regularly, and while the drinks were certainly unique, most of the cocktails we tried were hit or miss. At roughly $22 per drink, I expected more balance and refinement. One cocktail started with flavors reminiscent of an Old Fashioned, but after the initial sip, the combination of bitters and fruit syrups created an unpleasant cough syrup like finish. We tried a mocktail as well, and it was mostly ice and soda water, with what seemed like a collection of syrups doing most of the heavy lifting. The drinks were creative, but many of the flavor profiles felt disjointed rather than intentional. The biggest issue, however, was the bar service and sanitation practices. I watched a bartender place a cucumber garnish into a glass using his bare hands, touching the entire garnish in the process. He then continued to take credit cards, cash, and other items before stuffing ice into additional drinks with his bare hands. Whether or not this technically violates health code standards, it certainly wasn't appetizing to watch and left a poor impression. Parking is another challenge. There is no dedicated parking, and unless you get lucky, expect to park several blocks away and walk. Overall, the atmosphere is a lot of fun and the cocktail menu is ambitious, but the drinks didn't justify the price point, and the sanitation concerns were hard to overlook. I wouldn't rush back, especially given the cost and parking difficulties.

Thankfully, I had communications with said team member, but he still continuously monitored our group for house while at Halo, all the way to our reservation downstairs at the Sky Room. He was beyond crass and clearly didn't uphold the level of customer care experience most Fairmont establishments do across the globe. For starters, we got the Parker House Rolls, which comes with truffle butter, local citrus honey, and grana padano cheese. These rolls were so fluffy and flavorful. We also ordered the hummus, which was so rich and creamy, and the oysters from the raw bar. For the main, we ordered the Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop, Fish & Chips, and the Wedge salad to share. And let me tell you, that everything was so good. The Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop came with a whole show, where staff would bring out the dish in a smoke-infused glass dome and open the dome when presented on the table so we can smell and see all the smoke. Not only was it beautiful to look at, but it tasted just as beautifully. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the rainbow swiss chard, cheddar grits, candied pecans, and avocado honey helped balance out all the juiciness from the meat. They use haddock fillet for the Fish & Chips, which was fried to perfection. The Wedge Salad is what actually knocked my socks off! This was one of the best wedge salad that I've ever had. Which made sense considering how well he knew how the drinks were made. He was attentive and checked on us often to make sure everything was going well. One thing that made him stand out was, he actually conversed with us rather than just asking if we needed anything and then leaving. The Old Fashioned was one of the smoothest and best I've probably ever had. My nephew ordered the Ube Painkiller after Nate described how it was made. I had a sip, and the ube flavor really came through without overpowering the drink and it was perfectly matched with the dark rum, which Nate said came from the Caribbean. The Brussels sprouts had a nice mix of tender and crispy pieces that gave additional texture. The calamari was tender and the pesto style sauce paired real good with it. The Thai curry sea bass was flavorful, flaky, and had the right amount of spice. The cioppino had a rich shellfish flavor in the broth and I appreciated that the tomato base didn't have such an acidic taste. We also shared the tomahawk, which was juicy, cooked perfectly, and had a sprinkle of coarse salt that really brought out the flavor. Overall, we had a great experience.
