New to the area and decided to stop by after sneaking away from work. Nice setup for the neighborhood hole in the wall bar. They have everything on the menu and a full bar. I was in between a light early lunch and comfort bar food. I had the Cobb salad w/balsamic dressing & onion rings. I know weird combo but I fulfill both cravings. The salad was huge I wasn't expecting that's and the ingredients were fresh nothing soggy or related. You have a option of a combo of turkey & ham or grilled chicken. How could we have missed this place for so long and never visited, I don't know but I'm glad we finally got to stop by recently. Curley's has been in business for 80 years so you know they're doing something right. It's just a basic cafe with a restaurant on one side, and a small bar area (in addition to a patio they recently added). The food though was just your normal great everyday diner food. Between the French Dip, Tuna and Chili Cheese Fries we all shared, everything was tasty and well made. We'll definitely be coming back here for breakfast, especially since it goes until 3pm on weekends. read more

This place is usually my go-to breakfast and lunch spot but today... everything was horrible and I can 100% tell you it was your chefs. We put in an order for potato skins and they let our server know 15 min after we ordered- so we swapped it for loaded fries and I heard them ring the bell that it was ready, only to recieve rockhard melted cheese fries as if they let it sit there. As a person who's worked in the food industry before, I feel like for whatever reason, the cooks were purposely preventing her from providing good service. The hubby and I found this place awhile back. Had a wonderful experience decided to try it again. This quaint little diner tucked away behind a working oil derek is a gem! The staff is always upbeat and friendly. We enjoyed a very well made breakfast. My husband had Ham and eggs made perfectly and I enjoyed the chorizo and eggs with Avocado. We both indulged in a Strawberry Bellini once again, made to perfection. If you find yourself in the Signal Hill area and want a family friendly good food type place to relax and have a good meal and maybe a cocktail or two, I highly recommend this little gem. read more

This is my favorite place to frequent in the area! There are certain things I look for when I think of the restaurants/ bars that I want to return to. Curly's has all of the things! The food is fresh and delicious. Today we ordered a bistro burger which is a burger with portobello mushrooms, spring mix, provolone, and a delicious sauce and I got a side Cesar salad. The burger was cooked exactly how I requested. My fiancé got a California burger with sweet Potato fries, it was cooked to perfection just like mine and the portions are HUGE! I'm so excited about how great the entrees were I completely skipped over the appetizers, my fiancé and I couldn't decide between two or three of the appetizers so Josh pointed out that there was a sample platter of the appetizers that had a selection of all the things we wanted and then some! Everything was perfect, the quesadilla was cheesy, the wings, fried mozzarella, and jalapeño poppers were all crispy and hot! The service is always top notch, the staff treats you just like as if you got to your moms house. A group of us (20) came in this Sunday during our bike ride. We called in ahead of time, and they sat us down. Really quick. Everybody ordered different types of meals, from breakfast to salads to sandwiches. I particularly had country fried steak and eggs. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the fried steak was cooked, almost to perfection with the gravy. afterward, we all met outside in front of the restaurant and we all talked about the food and we definitely recommend this place. Large portions and good food! My husband and I split an ortega chile omelet. It came with toast and county potatoes. It was seriously enough food for two people. I did order a ham stake on the side. That ham was tender and juicy. We also tried Curleys Brew, which is a red ale. I'm not a big beer drinker, but it was tasty. I have to add that the coffee was hot and fresh. The food was good. I enjoyed the BLT with avocado and a side of cole slaw. Two friends liked the pastrami sandwiches with fries. The portions are ample enough that we took leftover food home. The service was fine, given that the main dining room with bar was fairly well occupied for a Tuesday night. We wanted a quiet space to talk and luckily the back room behind the bar was empty. I've never had a bad meal at Curley's. Large portions, good value. My favorite meal is always breakfast. The Eggs Benedict are my once-in-a-while treat. I get them with fruit which is a beautiful mix of melons and berries. Curley's Bloody Marys are hard to beat. As for later in the day, my favorite, healthy choice is the grilled fish tacos, but I'm told the burgers are wonderful, so that's next on my list to try. The staff are always courteous and friendly. I've lived in Long Beach for 12 years and I just visited this place for the first time last weekend. It has an old school vibe to it which is pretty cool. Service was excellent. Super friendly staff. Their breakfast was actually quite incredible. And reasonably priced too. I had the Polish sausage and eggs. It was great. Home fries were perfectly cooked as well. Long time bookmark. And now questioning why I've never been. Came here once for breakfast on a Sunday. Got the corn beef hash and eggs with home fries and rye toast. With a side of a Bloody Mary. Hash was fluffy and crispy. Another time, I got the BLT, which was delicious. The bacon was medium, just as I like it. Comes with fries, onion rings, Cole slaw, or potato salad. Reasonable priced for everything. The lunch sandwiches are also very good and priced well. I just happened upon a happy hour, so even my beer was inexpensive. They do have a good selection of beer, all served COLD. Don't be put off by the exterior, go and enjoy the food. read more

Don't judge a book by its cover. It's a dingy old diner but a great place to grab a quick, yummy lunch. We arrived during the 12:00pm rush, and thanks to the dual dining areas plus a full bar, we found a seat right away. It was super busy, so it took awhile for our waitress to acknowledge us. By then, we had found a menu and were ready to order. The BLT was good, and the sweet potato fries were delicious. My huge blackened chicken caesar was crisp and tasty as well, but I didn't care much for the dressing. I really wanted the margherita flatbread; however, our server was kind enough to warn me that it would take long to prepare because the kitchen was backed up. The iced tea tasted a bit funny. I don't recommend it. A terrific lunch (party of 2) for around $25. I would definitely dine here again. read more

On our way in, we laughed and pointed at all the freaks across the street waiting for a table at Black Bear. When we opened Curley's door, we were greeted with a smile and the option to sit wherever we liked. The rise & shine rum cocktail looks small and un-intimidating but it packs a big punch. My breakfast sandwich with sausage reminded me of the ridiculously fat sandwiches they give to Guy Fieri on DDD. I looked at it and wondered how I was going to get my mouth around it. I made it through a couple of edge bites & then tackled it with a knife & fork. At 40%, I sighed and realized I was going to need help. The Mr. saved the day & took down the rest. The sausage patty is huge, with a capital H. They serve the breakfast sandwich on a hamburger bun, with lettuce and tomato. It's like a breakfast sausage burgerwich. I preferred the seasoned home fries over the hash browns. Service was fantastic. As we left, we taunted the fools across the street a second time. Curley's is an A-plus in my book. read more

Happy Hour with coworkers. Not sure why it usually equates to having adult beverages but it is what it is. And it's how we ended up at Curley's one evening after work. Service wasn't very good. Other than bringing out some appetizer dishes for our group to share, majority of the group ended up having to walk to the bar to get drinks. At one point, there was a little scene because one of the servers couldn't find one of our debit cards. Eventually it was found but not after she denied vehemently that she returned it. The adult beverage selection wasn't bad - and for me, that means craft beer. The adult beverages were served in adult sized mugs which I liked and it was served ice cold which I liked even more. The prices, which I'm not sure were Happy Hour prices or not - couldn't get a server around to ask - were pretty decent considering the size of the mugs. Not really commenting on the food as we only had appetizer dishes - bar finger food basically. Lots of free parking; both indoor and outdoor seating. read more

First time here was yesterday. Checked it out and had to dwell on the ambiance at first. Seems like everyone knows eachother. I give the waitress/bartender a thumbs up. I noticed some reviews bad-mouthed "service" but she had it under control. I saw a customer with a "to-go" order get her order pretty quick and she even apolozed for having her wait. But I found it ok not a big deal. I would suggest you tell her you're in a hurry to eat or go find a place where they have faster service. The food is good, fresh and made to order of course (large portions as well). I got the chicken breast salad (its BBQ) and it was huge and good. Couldn't finish it but its probably cos I was picking at the chili cheese fries lol which weren't made frm canned chili ;-) I would definitaly return espcially on BiKe Night..lol its a place you go to unwind and have a laugh.
