I came here because I wanted to try the soup, but they said they didn't have any soup in June because it's not soup season. I had the feta beat salad, which was ok. I got a slice of Carmel cake for $4.99 - sounded like a good deal, but the slice was pretty dinky. I also got 5 Buckeyes for $5.99. I really liked the outdoor dining option and the girl strumming acoustic guitar singing outside the book store next door. My husband and I have been loyal customers of The Current Cuisine in Yellow Springs because we genuinely enjoy the African Chicken Peanut Soup. Unfortunately, our experience on February 17th,2026 was deeply disappointing. My husband entered the restaurant when it was quiet. There was no line, and he had been standing inside looking at the baguettes for a few minutes, by himself. Two staff members came out from the back and did not acknowledge him. A white woman then entered the store and was immediately greeted with "Can I help you?" My husband had clearly been there first. When he calmly questioned whether they intended to skip over him, he was met with defensiveness and told not to speak to the employee's daughter that way -- despite not raising his voice or being disrespectful. Being ignored and then treated as though he had done something wrong for asserting his place in line felt dismissive and uncomfortable. As Black customers, experiences like this are not minor. We value businesses that treat all customers with equal acknowledgment and respect. Unfortunately, this interaction has caused us to reconsider returning. We hope ownership takes this feedback seriously and ensures that all guests are welcomed consistently and fairly. read more

This deli has a variant of pasta salads, tuna salad, seaweed salad, fruit salad, and on and on! I bought a pound of the couscous and seaweed salad, both were flavorful and delicious! They also can make sandwiches of your liking and have bagels with a variety of spreads. It looks like all of their selections change throughout the months! 2 ladies were working on a Sunday and able to keep up with everyone and with smiles on their faces! You can also get some bakery items here and delicious slices of cake! On the way out you can grab jars of jelly, salsa, condiments, some cheese, meats, and chips! This has been a go to spot every time I am home. Always had great service and the food choices are perfect. Highly recommend.

First of all I'm a huge fan of the food and the selection here. They have unique and fresh deli items lined up to pick out what you want. I have been quite impressed with the selection as well as the quality of food and desserts that they have. The customer service, not so much. One staff member, I believe her name is Eva, I have had multiple negative experiences with. She actually said that "I didn't need to know her name" when I asked and that she could not have possibly done anything as there were other people working. My husband point blank said why yes but you were the only one that was rude. And she still was completely unapologetic. From the minute we walked in she barked at us and asked if we were with the person behind us, who was actually the one standing too close to us as we were on the appropriate mark. Having said that she should not be yelling at her guests at all! She would not let us pay for our drinks after waiting in line because our food wasn't ready so we couldn't go outside with them, and when I slipped my mask down for a second to take a sip because I was incredibly thirsty she yelled at me again! Also I had tried to order sourdough bread, I was told that the items that are sold out were on a sign, which sourdough was not on. That was actually not Eva, which was annoying but at least they said it nicely even if it was incorrect. I'm just not a fan of getting yelled at. Especially when I'm paying to eat somewhere. My husband said that he thought Yellow Springs was supposed to be a kind a happy and kind place. This was actually my second time in the past month that I have gotten completely rude service from the same staff member there, and to me that's just unacceptable. I only came back because the food is really good. Two stars because the food is great but I have never been so appalled by a staff member's blatant lack of regard for customer service. I like the hummus at Current Cuisine. It's the best stuff they have there. The bagels and salads are okay and there's plenty of vegetarian choices. It has a grocery section but it's not cheap. They can get crowded as it's a small place and service is not fast. I have liked most of what I've tried. It's got more of a selection than at the deli in Tom's Market. They're also known for its catering. It's one of the few caterers you'll find there. They have a good selection of bagels and salads. A few salads look kind of pricy for the portions. The couscous salads are my favorites. I always get hummus when here. The regular is thick and packs a lot of flavor. On a bagel it's even better. To get a bagel and hummus is about $5 total so a fairly good price. Bagels here are fresh and soft. The grocery section is not worth it. It's too expensive. The same stuff can be found in the Emporium or Tom's Market. I recommend Current Cuisine if a quick breakfast or lunch. The hummus is great on the bagels. So I'm getting married and everything, and I want to do something simple, yet of quality as well. I've eaten at Current in the past and have really enjoyed their food, so we sat down with Karyn, the owner, and went over the possibilities. We arranged for a variety of heavy appetizers, and my fiance's aunts got together and made lasagne, as well as brought in some pulled pork and smoked turkey from another caterer since most of what we ordered was veggie. Throughout the process Karyn was very helpful and responsive, and contacted us to check in and make sure everything was in order. The big day arrives and we're running around taking care of last minute stuff. Her staff get there and get set - Bill and Cha Cha - and were great from start to finish. Professional, courteous, just fantastic to work with. Very accomodating of my fiance's family and the food they brought, and helped them get situated as well. The spread was fantastic, and the food was great. From veggie sushi, to antipasto, to keeping us up to date on the number of compostable cups and forks remaining, the food and the service was simply outstanding. If you're planning an event, big or small, stop by Current and check them out. We couldn't have asked for a better experience, and hope that Current gains more via our wedding and reception. Over the years i have eaten at current many times, though never whole heartedly. They have an excellent selection of world oriented deli foods from vegetarian to Mexican to humus and around again to bottled sauces and sandwiches. Their prices are reasonable. They are everything you could possibly expect from a small town deli/caterer. Down to the last bite, less the wine (which you should get from the emporium anyway). The one big problem is that I have never had anything here that i was impressed with. Not one dish that summoned a new sensation to my tongue or at least made me pledge that i would try it again. Every flavor is either slightly bland or muddy and imperfect to be sure. Now this may be an example of lowest common denominator cooking, where by each dish is prepared to appeal to the widest possible audience. Who could blame them, there business model is successful and they have even kept a 3 starer like me reluctantly returning when dragged by friends. But to this borderline foodie it is disappointing that a place with such opportunity for great deli cuisine always leaves me regretful and forlorn for more cosmopolitan surround. read more

This place is the epitome of local, homemade food and is a must if you are visiting Yellow Springs! Whenever we are back home we make it a point to stop in for a meal. Some of our favorites are the carrot cake (literally the best we've EVER had!), homemade hummus, African chicken peanut soup (in the winter months), chicken salad and lemon bars! My wife and I stopped in here after hiking at the Glen Helen Nature Preserve. I was starving, and after some debate, I decided to have one of their sandwiches. I went for salami with swiss on sourdough bread. My wife had a bowl of the Spanish lentil soup. My sandwich was HUGE, and everything was fresh and so delicious. A lot of places only give you a couple of paper thin slices of cheese and meat, but mine had a huge amount of salami and two thick slices of swiss cheese. It was almost hard to eat because of the size, but I managed. My wife enjoyed her soup, and I stole a few bites with (and without) her permission and it was really good, too. I've been going to Yellowsprings, Oh to visit DarkStar Books for 20 years now. Right next door was this great deli and I just tried it yesterday! Thanks to my wife. I just had a bagel with cream cheese and roast beef. It was great and it was REAL roast beef. Not some lunch meat. They also had some beverages you can't get just any where. Different bottled Tea's, There is a lot of stuff in this little space and I didn't even get a chance to really take it all in. They had a nice assortment of chocolates and I believe on my next visit I will have to try the chocolate covered orange peels. read more

When there's so many tasty places to eat in Yellow Springs, Current Cuisine stands out as a great place to grab a quick bite. I would consider this to be more of a deli/bakery than a restaurant, but I was really pleased that they were willing to heat up some of the deli items for us to eat for lunch. I wouldn't say it's the most amazing food I've ever eaten, but the price was right and it seemed to be made on site. With that said, the desserts were phenomenal! We specifically like that there is outdoor seating, so the pup was pleased with our choice. I only wish they had a water bowl outside for the dog (hint, hint). read more

When I'm in Yellow Springs I eat here almost every day. They have these amazing lunch boxes that I look forward to from Monday to Friday and they usually come with a vegetable and a dessert. On days where the lunch boxes are sold out, or there's no proper veg option, I swoon over their made to order sandwiches. When I'm not having lunch there, I enjoy their take home lasagna trays for an easy dinner on nights I don't feel like cooking but want something homemade and wholesome. The only thing I haven't really enjoyed are the cakes. I find that they are either too sweet or too dry or a combination of both. So although they look absolutely beautiful, I just haven't had any luck with them. The last time I tried a cake was in March, just before all the Covid rules changed our lives. SO... it's possible things have changed since then and that the cakes are different now. In the cold refrigerator section, I love to take home the sun-dried tomato spread and use it for homemade sandwiches (breakfast and lunch). My husband and I were in the mood for sandwiches and we were in the area. We found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try. I try to eat vegan and when I was ordering, she noticed that I didn't order cheese or meat on my sandwich and then made sure to inform me that one of the items on my sandwich had a cream cheese base and recommended a substitution that went well with my sandwich. I came in on the off-chance that Current Cuisine would have something to serve for dessert for my mom's birthday. I had ordered cupcakes from another bakery (in Fairborn), but the bakery had closed early, so I had NO dessert to serve that evening! I asked the very friendly women that worked there if they had any recommendations. The young woman checked and they had 3 cakes to choose from: coconut, pina colada and a salted caramel. Wow!! I took the salted caramel cake home, stopping off at Young's Dairy for some ice cream to go with it. Oh My Gosh!!!! The cake was awesome!! Beautifully, but simply decorated, buttery whipped frosting, with a rich, moist chocolate cake. My family loved it!! I can sum up current cuisine (which seems to only be enjoyed by tourists... try being a local and surviving off this garbage) with one solid experience. I had to go to work, a few doors down from CC, and decided to stop in and grab something to have for 'breakfast'. I picked some pasta salad.. it seemed pretty safe. I get it to work, try a bite, and OH MY GOD it's SOUR? I had my co-workers try it to see if maybe my tastes were off... no, they all assured me it was absolutely rotten. as in spoiled. as in bad, no good, do not serve, go directly to trash, rotten. (then they hated me for making them eat rotten pasta). I brought it back, and tried to quietly tell the woman (who I believe is the owner?) behind the counter that it had gone bad, because I work in food service - I didn't want to make a scene. She gave me a dirty look and said "oh, so you don't like it? ". I said "it's not a matter of taste, it's bad! like spoiled. possibly moldy inside. it's old!". She rolled her eyes and said "well what do you want me to do?" I couldn't help myself. I shouted out "I WANT YOU TO THROW AWAY THAT PAN OF ROTTING PASTA AND GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK" loud enough that every customer could hear. and can you believe she had the nerve to WEIGH the container that i brought back, so I ended up paying for the pasta I had everyone try. Pay to make my coworkers hate me. yeah. So, current. I hate you. ALOT. So does everyone else in town. This is a must stop on every trip through town. Their deli is always changing with weekly theme food. (Chinese new year, Mardi gras, tour of Italy, etc) If you are used to a chain store deli than the prices may seem high but you are looking at fresh, handmade, healthy, delicious food. They feature hot and cold items as well as 2 soups. On a popular theme week,especially during warm tourist weather, items go FAST! Pick up a flyer with upcoming themes so you can be sure to get there early for the items you really crave. The desserts are gorgeous and dangerous!! Too good to pick just one very easily. There is a small amount of available seating if you prefer eating there. The merchandise area itself is small and filled with international as well as some unique items. You can't do any major grocery shopping here but you may find something to add to your next get together. Staff has always been helpful and friendly and offer you samples to try deli items before you buy. My tip: be brave and sample something that looks completely out of your comfort zone. My family and I were in Yellow Springs for the day and decided to bypass HaHa Pizza in favor of Current Cuisine. mistake. Upon entering the deli no one said hello although there were at least 3 people standing behind the counter. My daughter ordered the vegetarian springroll (she is 5) and the woman behind the counter refused to acknowlege that she had addressed her at all. At first,I thought that she didn't hear her so I told her to speak up and ask again,maybe say excuse me to get her attention (I was ordering at the adjacent counter). My daughter asked again and absolutely no response! I then realized that she was being ignored intentionally and turned around to order for her and the woman behind the counter said "does she want a spring roll?" no smile or interaction that was friendly of any kind.
