Paneer Tikka Pizza & Shrimp Curry
    Samina M.

Curry & Pie is absolutely phenomenal! If you are looking for tasty, generous portions of authentic Indian food in Georgetown, look no further. I had been meaning to try Curry & Pie for a while and was so excited to pop in for dinner on a weeknight. My friend and I were starving, so we decided to split a Paneer Tikka Pizza (extra hot!) alongside a delicious Shrimp Curry. These two were INCREDIBLE. The shrimp was cooked well and was perfectly spiced in a rich curry. I was so impressed at the size of the large prawns - talk about a a great deal for $16. The paneer pizza was cheesy and so flavorful. A must-try! The ambiance is a classic Georgetown row house and provides mostly upstairs seating. Nice tables and plenty of space for solo or group dining. The service was very accommodating and I appreciate the staff making sure we were cool on such a hot summer evening. Cannot wait to come back to Curry & Pie soon!

Cool spot I stumbled across. I thought "Curry and pie" was a cool concept. FYI it's Pizza pie not sweet pies lol. I just had the veggie pakoras which were nicely seasoned fried veggies that come with some nice sauces. Great looking menu. Nice enough staff. I'd come back to try something else.

The food is excellent, and the upstairs area gives you a nice look at busy Georgetown! The owner put on some nice music and it felt very relaxed. Highly recommend the Paneer Pizza and the Vindaloo. Great restaurant, will be back ASAP!

I think this place is tad bit over hyped, in my opinion. The experience didn't start off great right off the bat. We were a party of 5 and the person we spoke to initially all but told us to leave because they couldn't accommodate us. He suggested we to take away instead. We understand that it's a very small place with limited seating, but we didn't mind waiting. As we were discussing what to do, another person came out and told us they could seat us if we could wait 15-20 minutes. We eventually got seated and ordered our food. The chicken momo's were nothing special and under seasoned. The mango ginger fizz was delicious but it's mostly ice and not worth the cost. The pizzas were good though. Very greasy but good. Beware of the spice level that you order - their spicy is spicy so proceed with caution. For us, the medium was perfect, the spicy was too much to enjoy the food. Service was ok. Once we ordered we were kind of forgotten about until we had to track someone down for the check.

Curry Pie is a hidden gem! When you walk in, you head upstairs to dine--it's cozy and quaint, the kind of spot that feels like a well-kept secret. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and saag aloo (spinach and potatoes), which they kindly customized for me since I prefer my spinach without paneer. I asked for it spicy, and they delivered! When I tell you it was absolute perfection, I mean it. Every bite was packed with flavor and danced on my taste buds. The garlic naan--cut into fours--was hands down the best I've ever had. I love Indian food and have eaten a lot of it, and this naan set a new standard. I am glad I have a 15-minute walk back to my car to walk the food down. I'm already planning to come back. Truly superb.

Walking around Georgetown and can't decide between pizza or Indian? Try this spot and get both! Full disclaimer-- this place has a lot of steep stairs and isn't handicap or cane friendly since it's an old row house. I was guided to the top floor and waited ten minutes before service, but the Chaat Street Fries (served with seasoning salt and multiple chutneys) and Mango Chicken pizza were worth the wait. Plus, leftovers!

I came here because I heard it was halal, and I love good fusion food. The pizza is exceptional, dare I say it's the best in dc for a comfortable pizza eating. The curry is just alright, but I'm Pakistani so my standards are naturally high; I'll say that they do load you up on meat in the curries. Service is good. One time, the server messed up the pizza and immediately offered a new one, with a bunch of apologies. He also offered gulab jaman (I haven't had any this good in ages). Ambiance is great. It's small but I've never had an issue getting a table for my party. Great place for a cozy dinner. The location is good too, I don't have issues finding parking in Georgetown near their location

This is a hidden gem. The food is excellent. The salmon Doan was wonderfully flavorful. The atmosphere is private and homey. The menu is fairly diverse. Lots of vegetarian options.

    Lettuce Wrap (Chicken, $6.95)

Located on a side avenue off of Georgetown's ever-busy M Street, Curry & Pie is an Georgetown institution to both students and residents alike, serving up generous portions of Indian-fusion fare at low prices! The actual restaurant looks like it's actually a repurposed house, with both downstairs and upstairs seating. The space is cramped, but clean and well-lit, with lots of natural lighting flowing in from the windows! My party of six stopped in on a Saturday at around 1pm, and were seated almost immediately. You scan a QR code to see the menu, which is chock-full of more traditional Indian classics (Chicken Momos, Paneer Makhani, etc.) to Americanized Indian food (Butter Chicken, Garlic Naan, etc.) to wacky Indian-American fusion (most notably: Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza, anyone?). I ordered their Lettuce Wrap with Chicken ($6.95), and my friends ordered the Chicken Momos ($6.95 for 5), Chicken Tikka Masala ($15.95), Paneer Makhani ($14.95), Naan ($2.95), Garlic Naan ($3.45), and their Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza ($11.95 for a personal-sized pizza). Our orders all came out within 15 minutes: my Lettuce Wraps ($6.95 w/ chicken, shrimp for an extra cost) came with a generous portion of chicken marinated in a spiced sauce, served with a refreshingly acidic cilantro-based sauce on the side! The chicken was breast meat, but it wasn't dry at all - in fact, it was quite tender, and the sauce was flavorful. The veggies and lettuce also tasted fresh - a delicious pick for a healthier choice, and a great value! I didn't try the Chicken Momos ($6.95), but my friend cited that the wrappers were dry, and the filling tasted store-bought. They came with a "secret momo sauce" for dipping, though it was apparently quite salty. Probably a skip for next time! The Chicken Tikka Masala ($15.95) comes with quite a generous portion of the classic dish, as well as a side (or should I say: mountain) of rice. The breast meat came in large, tender chunks that soaked up the well-spiced sauce, and the rice was soft and fluffy. Everyone that ordered this as an entree had to take leftovers home, since the portion is so large! I didn't try the Paneer Makhani ($14.95) either, but my friend enjoyed the soft, mild cheese paired with a brightly creamy tomato sauce with spices, and said it was delicious paired with her side of rice! Since my friends weren't aware of the fact that their entrees came with rice, they also ordered the Naan ($2.95) and the Garlic Naan ($3.45). Each naan dish comes with four large pieces, so it's a great value, though my friends said the Naan was a bit dry (even though it's basted with butter), and the Garlic Naan was overly greasy/oily, with a pool of oil at the bottom of the dish. They enjoyed dipping it in their curry, however! Finally, my last friend ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza ($11.95) - for a personal size, it's quite large (noticing a theme here?). She enjoyed the unique combination of flavors, but cited that there isn't a ton of Indian flavor in the pizza, nor much chicken on top, and the crust was a bit doughy for her liking. It's a novel concept, but not a must-get here. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at Curry & Pie - nothing here is an absolute must-try, but the portions are big, the food is solid, and service is friendly and fast. A great spot in Georgetown for some cheap eats!

We came on a Friday afternoon, which seemed like good timing since the last time we tried to go here, they had to send us away bc of a big order. The pizza was almost cracker like, and was a good blend of cheese with Indian sauce and spices. We ordered one mango lassi and was given a complimentary one, too. Ambiance is a bit awkward; order up front first, then climb up narrow stairs to a small dining room. Overall though, it was decent.

Tucked into the heart of Dupont Circle with its unmistakable bright blue awning, the restaurant is intimate, moody, and always buzzing. Inside, you'll find dim lighting, a handful of cozy wooden bar booths, seats along the bar, and a few outdoor tables. It's not a huge space, which only adds to its charm and makes every reservation feel like a win. The atmosphere is perfect for sharing dishes and lingering over dinner with friends. The food was incredible...I genuinely loved every single bite. Just be prepared: the Sichuan spice is no joke! If you aren't expecting it, it'll definitely sneak up on you (in the best way). My must-orders? The chili wontons, Dan Dan noodles, and beef noodles. Every dish was packed with bold flavor and left me wanting to come back for more. If you've been trying to score a reservation, keep at it. Astoria is one of those places that's absolutely deserving of its reputation, and I'll be thinking about those noodles until my next visit.

Inside had small tables and a kinda casual cocktail bar vibe Beef Noodles - the highlight and actually very good! The noodles are long and handmade and chewy. They hold onto the sauce very well! The sauce has a slight kick and is very savory. The beef is soft and also flavorful! I feel the price for the portion is kinda expensive though 8/10 Chili wontons - skin is silky and soft, sauce is savory with a small kick as well! Even though the sauces look similar to beef noodle they taste very different. The fillings had good flavor and overall were good but were a bit tougher and dryer than I would prefer. 6/10 Crab fried rice - crab is slightly overcooked but naturally sweet. It has a light curry taste throughout and was pretty good but didn't really stand out 5.5/10 Mapo tofu - slight kick and nice savory taste in the sauce! However I think they cut the tofu pieces way too large or the tofu they chose had way too much tofu flavor that overpowers the sauce. I'd prefer a very light silky tofu but this was a soft tofu. 6/10 Vpod - at first it just tasted like orange juice but then the other flavors peek through on the after taste and when I mixed it more. Even though it was good, it still felt very basic 5/10 Philadelphia Scotsman - it's pretty ginger forward. Technically the level of ginger spice is fine but strong but then the rest of the drink got completely overpowered and so this just wasn't that great 2.5/10

This is not a space to grab food if you're trying to have a conversation. We often found ourselves yelling across the table and when selecting items to share we crammed ourselves on one side of the booth squishing other patrons. Otherwise this would've been a 5 star review. Our waiter was amazing, albeit a bit distracted at times because of his service area, and helped advise us on the items we were interested in. We had: Koika No Karaage - their version of calamari - 10/10 - lightly fried with the most amazing texture and paired with a yuzu mayo. For the price I wish the serving size was larger but that's my only gripe. Kani - 10/10 - snow crab with spicy mayo - 2 came with the order and they were amazing. The Japanese crest was the perfect contrast to softness of the snow crab. It was also seasoned well. Hotate Toryufu - 10/10 - the scallops melted in your mouth. Amazing. No notes. California Maki - 6/10 - my least favorite thing here. It wasn't awful but it didn't compare to the other things we had. Drinks - I WISH I could remember the name of the drink I had. Hands down one of the best drinks I've ever had and was paired with sparkling sake. Bathe me in sparkling sake, put a bottle in my casket, I want it with me forever. I would come back for sure but would opt to sit at the bar. It would definitely be easier to speak to someone sitting next to you than across from you. For the price you will not get full here but if you want to share some small bites of new food this is absolutely your spot.
