First Impressions - Fusion Indian!? Sounds like a win to me!! I heard my friend rave about getting takeout from this place so I decided to give it a try. We rolled in 4 adults and 3 kids deep and saw the panic in the host's face (guy at the front desk). Despite the restaurant being completely empty on our arrival, waited for a table and quickly were left feeling like someone had done us a favor by seating us. Gotta work on the service here. Service - There was a lot of huffing and puffing while taking our orders as well as micromanaging where we put our baby bags. I get it, your restaurant is small and maybe you're only catering to the Georgetown study break college kids and their friends buuuuut, guess what...I'm probably going to spread the word about your new business more than a college kid (colleagues, friends, family etc). A restaurant should cater to all so I will not rate this as family friendly in the least. Food - The French Fry chat was innovative and delicious, 5 stars for that. The Tandoori Chicken Pizza and the Pizza with Mango were also quite good...maybe even good enough to make up for the poor service. We ordered mango lassi for the kids and maybe they just thought our kids wouldn't know any better but of course the adults took a sip. I'm pretty sure it was regular lassi with yellow food coloring.....normally you can smell the mango aroma a mile away (hence why our kiddos love it!). This place was quaint and small, but the waiter was rude when we asked for a table for 5 people. The portions are large and we had food to take home. I thought it was cool because it was a twist on pizza using Indian fusion. They also had normal Indian dishes but their naan bread was very dry and tasteless... The tandoori chicken was dry. This place was tucked in a corner of Georgetown and can be easily missed. It's a quaint cozy restaurant with really simple layout. There are two floors. There were only two waiters in the restaurant trying to cater to all the tables. We were a party of four and were seated upstairs. The place serves Indian food + curry pie pizzas. The tag Asian fusion is kinda misleading as one would expect more of fusion food, but basically this restaurants stands true to its name. I ordered mango lassi and medium size saag paneer pizza. The mango lassi was thick and creamy and very filling. The saag paneer curry pizza was simply delicious! I was a bit skeptical at first because I never had it before. I had tandoor paneer pizzas before but not saag paneer. The size was equivalent to a large pizza at chain pizza spots. The French fry chaat really yummy. The fries were covered in sweet and tangy Indian chutneys. A must try! The pakoras were okay. The waitress was really nice. She made sure that everything was okay with us. I love Indian food, but this is the worst Indian food I've ever had. I ordered delivery, and both the guy on the phone, and the delivery guy were super nice, and polite. It was the food that was terrible. Saag Paneer- This spinach dish, which is usually melt in your mouth delicious, was terrible. The spinach tasted old. The "cheese" had to of been firm TOFU. Chicken Tikka Masala- Was not good. Not flavorful. Lacked chicken. I've had way better elsewhere. Raita- Had a very good flavor, but was not yogurt-like. This had the consistency of water. This is some of the best pizza I've had in DC. It's flavorful, they use great cheese, and it does not sag at all when you pick it up. And the flavors are great! The chicken tikka curry pie is mouth watering, and you can choose the level of spice. The paneer curries are good to dip pizza in but definitely not their specialty. And the chicken tikka pizza with tomato sauce just tastes like normal, albeit very good, chicken/vegetable pizza. I would highly recommend! read more

"It was super meh", in the eyes of my partner. I would have to agree. The chicken tikka pizza was bland, and the tandoori tamales were cold and hard. Very disappointed with the service there was no one to even speak to in the lobby for the first 15 minutes! Service was slow throughout the meal as well. I got the lamb vindaloo curry pie (personal size) which is a pizza with curry and topped with cheese and it was delicious! Medium spicy was the perfect level of spiciness, where it's actually spicy but not overbearingly so. Service wasn't bad; the vibe is kinda quiet so sometimes it feels a little awkward. This review is limited to three items: the Lamb Vindaloo, Pork Momos, and Naan. I have to say, all three were absolutely delicious. If this review were based solely on the food it would have 5 stars. The Lamb Vindaloo is captioned as "hot", like most Lamb Vindaloo. My experience with Vindaloo in DC has been a lot of food coloring, very little spicy. The reverse is true for Curry & Pie. The refrained from using exorbitant amounts of food coloring to get that deep red hue and instead focused on the actual and heat. And boy was it spicy. Do not order this dish unless you can handle real heat, because the Lamb Vindaloo has it. The Pork Momos were similarly delicious. Their dipping sauce, a chutney I presume, had a small tinge of heat but not too much. They were some of the better Momos I have had in the DC area. Finally, the Naan was on point, neither too thick nor too thin with a nice heat emanating from them even after we drove them home, as we decided to do take out. My singular complaint, and the reasoning my giving four stars, is that the take-out took about 45 minutes. I do not think this was their fault; they told us that they had to re make the Momos because they were sitting around too long. But they gave us a "10-35 minute" time period for our pick up... Even pizza delivery places can give a more precise time window than that, and the resulting consequence is that we were parked on the side of our streets with our hazards on for an additional 15 minutes. BE CAREFUL WHEN ORDERING ONLINE! Don't get me wrong, the food is good. That's why this place doesn't get zero stars. It's the service that's the issue. First we tried calling in an order, no one answered the phone. Then we ordered online and we get there 5 min after it is suppose to be done and it hasn't been started. We wait another 20min. What was the point of ordering ahead of time? And then the restaurant wouldn't take ownership (apologize and just make amends)but instead blamed the third party site they chose to partner with! Curry-pizza fusion is a genius idea, I've got to admit. It's a very convenient to not have to choose between two very delicious takeout options, especially when ordering for a large group of people. I ordered 2 medium pizzas for 4 people, which seemed to be just the right amount. I only ate the saag paneer pizza since I'm a vegetarian, which I thought was delicious if not a little too greasy, but my friends also raved about the mango chicken pie. Overall, this place deserves a spot in your takeout rotation but beware that the time they give you until pickup is usually too early by about 10 minutes. I've had to wait approximately 10-12 minutes each time I order for pick up since the restaurant is a small and tight staffed spot. read more

Being Indian, and trying out Indian restaurants is always difficult because nothing ever compares to your mom's cooking. PROS: This place had a pretty good range of options, in terms of your staple/ traditional Indian restaurant dishes. We only tried 2 dishes, but the menu definitely had a good variety. We ordered the "French Fry Chaat" and the "Matar Paneer". The French Fry Chaat was really good, and a fun alternative to the standard Chaat dish.The serving size was also pretty big, especially for 2 people. They also ask what level of spice you'd like your entrée so that's always a plus! CONS: The Matar Paneer was good, but not great (one of those standard Indian dishes you can't help compare to your mom's cooking/ leftovers of this dish were not very good either). The restaurant was so hot (I don't think they had the A/C running and it was around 85 degrees outside), it kind of killed our desire to eat more and to try more things. I was sweating while eating my food and it was not due to the level of spice in my food... We were both pretty uncomfortable with the heat and as a result rushed our dinner and left pretty quickly. Overall, I would recommend giving this place a shot. I think I would try it again, but I would only go on a day where the weather is to your liking. read more

We went here just last night after reading the reviews for this place on Yelp. It took them a while to accommodate us as this is a small place and we were a group of 8. We ordered the French fry chat, chicken momos for the first round and they were every bit as delicious as the reviews. The meat in the momos melts in your mouth, the "secret sauce" is to die for! For the main course we ordered green chicken, chicken tikka masala pizza and lamb chops but we were told they were out of lamb. The CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA PIZZA is a MUST if you decide to visit here. The green chicken is served with plain rice and which makes it quiet dry. Our solution: we asked for some more of the momos' secret sauce!!! This is a cute little restaurant that is actually quite small on the inside. Despite it's size, it's a nice building with a lot of character. We came during dinner time but there wasn't a wait. Our table got an order of samosas to share, the chicken tikka masala, and the chicken tikka masala pizza. It's not the BEST chicken tikka masala I've ever had but it's definitely one of the better ones in DC. I give them points for being creative and combining pizza and curry. An unusual combination that somehow works. The pizza doesn't have tomato sauce but instead has curry underneath the cheese. It tastes similar to regular pizza but with more of a flavor punch. The samosas were decent, maybe a little bit more mild (in terms of spice level) than what I'm used to but still good. I confirmed with our server that all of their food is halal. The service was good for the most part, but they somehow mixed up our order. They tried to give us a second pizza instead of the chicken tikka masala curry. Maybe we were not clear when we ordered or maybe our server got confused but regardless, they were fast about fixing the order and it wasn't a problem. Intrigued by the Indian pizzas and creative menu, I thought I'd give this a try, but was sadly disappointed. I ordered delivery through Seamless/GrubHub... my food took over TWO HOURS to arrive - at least an hour past the estimated time. The driver apologized for the delay, and said I may want to reheat my food. The chicken tikka masala pizza, besides being cold, was bland and flavorless. The French fry chaat was soggy and no longer appetizing. The daal soup was bland and nothing to write about, but tasted better after reheating. Overall a bad experience. My advice: if want to eat here, dine in and have the food fresh. UPDATE: GrubHub addressed my concerns with the restaurant the following day. The food here is great but the service is miserable. I called early in the day on a Tuesday asking if they could take a reservation for 7 people. They told me that they wouldn't take the reservation because it wouldn't be busy and we could just walk in. I came in with people from out of town and children, expecting a nice dinner, and wow was I disappointed. When we got there they said the wait would be a half hour; understanding that it was a large party, even though I was told we'd be seated, we waited. After 45 minutes I asked again and was told to wait another 15 minutes. After 20 minutes, I was told that we'd be seated next. 10 minutes later, we still were not seated. The food was absolutely amazing. The murg makhani (butter chicken) is at par with the best I've had on the streets of New Delhi (India). The French fries chaat is a wonderful take on the traditional Aaloo chart, and quite mild so everyone can enjoy it. If possible, I recommend that if you're ordering the curry pie pizza, ask for murg makhani instead of the chicken tikka masala as topping, works much better. Curry and Pie was our favorite dinner in Georgetown by far. We ordered the curry pizza to be extra spicy and boy, was it through the roof! The naan was delicious--I'd suggest garlic naan--and I preferred the curry over the pizza. The tikka masala was excellent, and the saag paneer was a perfect accompaniment to an already great feast. This isn't the most authentic Indian food-eating experience, given the curry pizza, but it's not exactly a fusion restaurant either. It's more like the pizza is served on the side of traditional Indian foods. Still, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to eat delicious food in Georgetown and doesn't know where to go. They need some serious work with their service. The server was very slow and we were one of the first customers to arrive in the evening. We had to ask for our check and box. It took at least 20sh mins just to get our appetizer. The server does not communicate much..was kind of confused and extremely slow.
