Ordered takeout and girl who answered the phone needs a lesson in customer service. I'm pretty sure it was the same girl at the counter whom I picked up and paid the order with. She was not friendly. I even tipped her (half what I usually would because of her attitude) and I said "thanks", she just responded with "ok". Wtf? Usually the younger guys at the counter are very nice. Wow, never thought this Indian food spot would have been so good near the naval base. Its a BYOB as well and for the vegans a great selection. The service was exceptional and the food even better. I've been here three times now and I'll definitely be back again. I had a vegetarian curry with okra and a tomato based sauce that was pretty good the first time. The second time, I had a curry with a coconut sauce and it was delicious. Tonight, I had the curry with cashews and it was absolutely amazing! If you've never had curry, you need to come here. If you're vegetarian, there's a whole slew of vegetarian curries. If you're more of a carnivore, they've got you covered, too. The owner is super nice and authentically Indian; I could barely understand him through the accent but who cares when the food is this good! read more

Had lunch takeout from here yesterday. We ordered Chicken Vindaloo and Lamb Saag with Garlic Naan. I was blown away by how delicious the Saag was. So much flavor with every bite! My family doesn't eat lamb but I reluctantly shared and they loved how tender and juicy the meat was. Vindaloo was delicious as well, with tender chicken and bright red sauce. Garlic naan was perfect even for takeout standards. My son questioned why he hadn't been born into an Indian family so he could enjoy this food every single day. I apologized to him. Really enjoyed our first time at this place - highly recommend the paneer tikka appetizer. As expected, great menu for a vegetarian. Takeout was very very disappointing! Hardly any meat in the container and the sauces very watery. I first tried this when it first opened and it was terrific. But now the style is cheap and sauces not good. We had Korma, Vindaloo, Mango chicken, over $100 of take out and the food was not worth it. I was visiting Newport area for The Weeknd and immediately decided to visit based on 4 stars on Yelp. I did not read any individual reviews prior to trying. I ordered dinner: paneer chili, garlic naan, chili naan, paneer tikka masala, and vegetable biryani. Again, it could be better. Naan orders were great, taste and texture as expected. I was not happy with paneer dishes. The sauces for these dishes had good flavor, however, paneer was not cooked. It had raw milky flavor with spongy texture. It was fresh but uncooked. Im used to paneer having a thin crispy layer from being pan fried or tandoor baked prior to being added to respective sauces. This simple change can enhance these dishes. Vegetable biryani was also subpar. It had good flavors and proper technique. However, rice was old. Basmati rice is like pasta. It can be cooked al dente in 8 minutes. It completely changed the taste of a good dish. I mean no disrespect to the chef or owners. I understand my taste is different from others. But I would love to see these changes. read more

Great location. Right after you take exit from bridge in the shopping mall near walmart and stop and shop. We went there early enough and greeted by pleasant staff. Food is great too. We ordered Chicken 65, biryani, and Goat curry. All came out pretty good. Best I like was the bread basket. I havent had such tasty naan in a while. They reminded me of indian dhaba tasts. After many visits we will not be going back. My wife and I order the same 4 items takeout every time. Never alter the order. This time when I picked up the two meal options on receipt were different from what I ordered. I was told there was nothing that could be done, that I had confirmed the incorrect items (which I had not) my money had already been taken. No accommodations were made. This could be a 4 star restaurant but unfortunately we went right when the lunch buffet opened. The selection was a small and the wings were not cooked all the way through. It's cheap enough but I don't think I would return for the buffet. Maybe take out, my wife didn't like the silence no music at all plus she said the bathroom was dirty.
