For that reason, combined with the two locations, this might be the lowest-rated miniature chain in the city. Anywho, I was here a good while ago before going on vacation to India (you can find all of my India reviews on Google, as the country, like many others, is not supported on Yelp.) I got a burger and tater tots, which were fine. The burger was missing the "Custom" sauce, so they gave some on the side for the tots. The patty was dry and small, being closer to a slider, but it's US airport food, so some of that was expected. Tots were crispy at least. My sister and I were flying out of JFK Airport in Terminal 5. I was hesitant to order anything since the prices for food at airports tend to be inflated. The area where Customs Burgers is crowded. However, they make it easy with online ordering via a QR code. There is also a few self ordering kiosks in front of the restaurant. I ordered a simple cheeseburger that came with a side of fries. Where do I start? When I arrived at Custom Burger, there was a crowd around the counter which I took to mean it was a popular spot. Little did I know that the crowd was full of people who had been waiting a looong time for their orders. For some reason, the sandwiches were coming out faster than the fries, so the sandwiches sat there getting cold while rhe person packing the bags waited for the fries. I ordered the Impossible burger and fries. After waiting for at least 30 min. for my order, I ran to the gate with my order (we all had flights to catch). In my bag was a chicken burger and two orders of fries. I'm vegetarian- I don't eat chicken. Somebody was probably pretty upset that the pressed chicken and ended up with an Impossible burger. Was skeptical to try this place out in Terminal 5 from all the negative reviews but saw that it had the longest line in the food area so decided to commit. It was genuinely much better than expected. The fries were decently good and the burger reminded me of the ones you would get at school. They ran out of onion rings which was a bummer but it was fine as the fries made up for it. Pros: - getting food here is pretty quick (you order at the restaurant, pay, then go back to the restaurant to pick up your order) - their fried chicken sandwich was cheaper than the cold prepackaged sandwiches from the fridge cases (~$9 vs $12+). - no food poisoning because they cooked the heck out of it Cons: - "fried chicken" was really more like a giant chicken nugget - dry because they cooked the heck out of it - 1/4 of the chicken had a strange flavor to it (threw that part out) Overall, I wasn't impressed. I was a bit put off by some of the reviews for Custom Burger, but upon seeing the long lines at JFK, I figured I would give it a try since there were limited food options for a nighttime flight anyway. Service is nonexistent - you place your order on an IPad and later pay at a separate counter. I wasn't disillusioned enough to think that this would be a good burger by any means, but I wasn't expecting it to be as bad as it was. The burger is cold, dry, and reminiscent of public school burgers (but even those are hot!). It comes with a limp piece of lettuce, some barely melted cheeese, and a slice of tomato. No sauce, no ketchup - nothing to help with how dry the burger was. Honestly after two bites, I couldn't bring myself to finish the burger even though it was about $11 after tax.
